Hello,
Just bought a global Pocophone f1 (made in China) 6/128gb variant but for some weird reason there is no option of face unlock? Is it supposed to come with a software update? Any help you be appreciated. Screenshot attached. Thank you.

Thank you so much, this did the trick. So weird that other region wouldn't get the setting, wonder why. Thanks again, worked perfectly!
Fixed now wkth the latest MIUI update.
..
Sir What u Mean Fixed ?
Do u mean we Can have Ir Face scanner for every region now?

I can confirm that. It doesn't work on my device either. Only if i change the region.
It works for Italy now.

I can only get it to work when I select India. Nothing for Italy or Hong Kong and I can't even select China.
All a bit of a pain since I'm in Ireland. I'm getting served up Indian versions of websites whenever I search for anything.
I'm on miui 9.6.14.0 fwiw
Anyone know of a different workaround?
It has more regions now after update
Switch to Xiaomi.eu is has it enabled by default

I opted out of that at set up. Just had a search through the frustratingly disorganised miui settings menus to try to confirm this, but couldn't find it. Could you give me a pointer as to where it is please?
To clarify, I'm not getting any adverts, just notifications about Indian sporting events etc

Again, to clarify, I'm not getting any adverts.
That is not the problem.
The problem (and it's not a big problem) is that I can only use face unlock when I select India as my location - that means I get loads of Indian sports news, which I don't really want.
So, back to the question I was asking, is there another fudge that can enable ir face unlock regardless of location setting?

Oh OK, sorry I cannot help you with that I moved phone, and it will pass some time before I get another one. I am curious where do you actually see those news?? In a app, or you just receive them as notification? It has to come from somewhere

Apparently nope. The best hit is to update to 9.6.22, then face unlock will work while having Poland, Spain or France set as a region. News choice should be a bit better
Switch to xiaomi.eu no ads, also those news you are talking and it face unlock works on all region, actually there's no region on it. The only downside is that you need to unlock bootloader if you don't have it yet

There seem to be a few variant of the ROM depending on the region. Major difference base on what everyone is saying there is that the Chinese rom is horrible and the global/UK rom is better.
Well I have a OPX China version coming this week. It was a decent deal that why i went for it instead of the other version. So how screwed am I?
Is the China version really crippled? Is there a way to at least make it similar to the global rom? I know google play need to be installed and some app needs colorOS apps need to be removed.
How about notification and ram management? And major difference compare to the global ROM? Thanks for any feed back.
People complained about not being able to add a custom launcher. But you could always use adb to remove the coloros launcher to force the device to use the custom launcher. Also, all global variants are exactly the same, there really is no distinction between them.
My GF is using chinese edition and I am using AU edition, and both of us are in US, so I think I am able to tell you something.
Chinese edition is really for China(I am a Chinese so I know it). It will be perfect in China, but a disaster anywhere else in the world. You can always install google play in the original store and also uninstall some stock software and replace the launcher with adb. But three things are hard to change:
1. The background task is limited to 5.
2. Only the white listed app can auto start, other than the app in the list, only 5 are allowed.
3. G assistant can't work well, and G feed for Nova launcher as well. You will never be able to use ok google or hey google.
And for global version. The background management is worse than what I did with Brevent. And there is no great animation when you do super vooc charge. Other things are perfect.
Oppo is working on allowing bl unlock and Wuxianlin bet her own weibo account for it, so you will be able to flash global version soon.
Thank you for the great input!
I guess the China version is really crippled
Can you change the texting app to 3rd party and/mms like textra?
Whats the point of the 8gig of ram if they won't utilize it.

I keep thinking that if someone can find the variant identifiers in the roms we can make the phone think the international or eu rom is the Chinese one and spoof it into allowing it to install.

Can you please confirm global version doesn’t restrict notifications? You receive notifications as any other Android phone.
Can you get notifications on lock screen?
Default launcher is easy to change

Hi guys, I looked around first but I did not find anything... Is there anyway to run Alexa on a Verge if you are outside of the US? I thought simply about changing region on my phone but that's no longer an available option in Pie.

As i know official there is no any ways to get Alexa outside US, about changing region in smartphone and ect., as i know don't working that, method in which if you only changed language/region (this happening in various operating system versions, so PIE is not only in this case) i tried to understand how working at all Alexa (how it detecting my region), coz i got the same update with Alexa as many probably of us (Verge smartwatch). So the only confirmation which i got from Amazfit support, it's can be detecting by GPS and you can't change that. When will be available Alexa or any other assistants in others countries there is no any news and dates. It's possible to do something from developers sides? Well i'm not developer, but i guess only if you install 3rd parties software and ect. But i'm not sure, developers i think can answer better from theirs sides.
I am outside of US and it works IF you use an Amazfit account which you state as US
Then when you set up the watch after signing in to your Amazfit account you will find an option to setup the "US" Amazon account and then get Alexa capability.
I find it a bit sluggish to call up but it works

I tried, i created new account of Amazfit Watch app, i choice US region, i did factory reset of Verge and created new mail. Did not helped. Alexa is not still available. As i mentioned in some case Amazfit Support confirmed to me that Alexa is detecting by GPS, so you can try and further to change settings in smartphone/Verge, to create another account and ect., but if for you worked, must be something else. These method which you wrote did not wroked for me
What i did:
1. Created outlook account (which is US mail service)
2. Created new Amazfit Watch app account where i choice US location
3. I confirmed all new account
4. I did factory reset of Verge watch
5. I log in into these account/pair process
6. There is no Alexa, don't working any voice assistants

Yes. Can you do these screenshots/pictures?
From Verge watch:
1. Model from Verge watch with operating system version number.
2. Active Alexa on Verge screen (better is video, but will be great pictures too, it's depends you, what you can do)
From smartphone/Amazfit Watch app:
1. Smartphone's operating system version
2. Smartphone's region and language
3. Amazfit Watch app region (if this possible)
4. Amazfit Watch app version
All these sections which i mentioned screenshots/pictures or video at all.
By the way it's yours smartphone or/and watch is rooted? Is installed stock ROM and ect. (in both devices)?
As i mentioned in my past post, it's not enough to change only region/language of Amazfit Watch app/account and smartphone region/language. The same confirmed to me Amazfit support, in some case they confirmed to me that Alexa probably detecting location by GPS signal, which you can't disabled as i know in Verge model (i'm wrong?). Probably location is detected that you choosing weather location in Amazfit Watch app. How exactly detecting Verge watch region couldn't siad to me support, but idea and method which you wrote they rejected at all
P.S. Model of Verge i mean (for example) A1811 which is international version. I need this number. You can easily find this information in Verge settings.
I can't do this because my Verge is stock CN model with CN firmware. But I know people in Italy and Brasil using Alexa in EN without issues keeping the phone in English as well...

I got mine activated too. Latest Amazfit version both on watch and on phone, android 9, everything stock. I am logged in to my Amazfit account using Google, not using a separate Amazfit account and to activate Alexa I simply changed the language of my phone to English (US) and when I opened Amazfit it gave me a pop-up saying that now I can use Alexa, I never expected that to work this easy. My region for my Google account is Romania so the only thing that got it activated was changing the phone language to English (US), as I had it on UK previously.

I don't have time to try probably a fake method again which did not worked first time, which was rejected by manufactors worker... It's ok if worked for you, i just wrote my experience about that, guys, it's ok if you got positive result, i got negative. I just posted about it, no need to try to change my opinion, i just asked a proof, if you can't post it, discuss is over, do you agree with me? It's ok for you, then it's ok for me too
It's your choice, changing simply the language of your phone and region is the easiest thing. Anyway, Alexa in Verge is pretty useless if you don't have other Alexa enabled things in your house, as it can't do too much.
PS, the manufacturer support will always say no, as it's not an officially available service, even though they might know workarounds.

If you read attention my post, i already mentione dthat i tried to change language in smartphone/watch (Verge), to create new account of Amazfit Watch app and ect., did not worked. So that's why i'm so negative about that.
About manufactors, well, i know that they will sya ofetn no, coz it's not official method to get Alexa, that's why i tried. But as i mentioned it's not working for me. I don't know why, maybe i doing something wrong, maybe it's just something else i have to do. One of you posted Google account and ect. In my smartphone always wokring GPS, in watch was choice my location in weather widget, also in a some case confirmed that location in watch can be detected by GPS in watch and ect. I havn't iPhone, which was mentioned too. Yes of course it's my choice, but come on have everybody have Alexa in theirs watch? I know what is voice assistant is, i had before i bought Amazfit Verge, Sony smartband talk, which have voice assitant too. I tried a lot of time Google Now (voice assitant) too and ect. I waiting that untill will be available in rest world. But say me honest how often you using voice assitant? It's a fun feature, but... it's not daily useful. I bought Verge for that, but in Sony's device i did not used so often assistant, but always is great to know that you device have it, sometime is need it. But without it Verge is not worst watch That's why i tried to get it, but if not working - well, i will try to wait untill Amazfit will do available for me too SImple
Hey guys, chill
TBH it's just a fun feature. The response time is so sluggish I don't find it useful and hardly use it.
Little loss if you can't get it going on the watch.

Is the Xiaomi Mi 10, and Mi 10 Pro, capable of call recording?
I'd like to know if call recording: is available out of the box as standard or if call recording is available via rooting the device (if rooting is even possible?)
I'm in the UK and hoping to purchase the Mi 10 Pro (although no call recording would be a deal breaker) . I'm pretty certain any UK, or EU variant, will have call recording disabled, so I'm more interested in the global and Asian versions (although any phone must have all bandwidth ranges, so probably global is best?)
Thanks in advance
Oliver
Ps please don't make this into a debate about the legalities of call recording. There's already loads of threads about that and it isn't helpful to me. I just want to know if and how.
Xiaomi is now pre-installing the Google Phone app on phones sold in Europe: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-pre-install-google-phone-messages-global-european-phones/
The Google Phone app currently lacks call recording capabilities, but this functionality is in the process of being added: https://www.xda-developers.com/google-phone-app-call-recording-hands-on/
As far as I know all Chinese version Roms ( the only ones available atm) have call recording by default. (This is not xiaomi exclusive).
I am making a purchase and I asked about this I was reassured that it is available.

I was, perhaps incorrectly, under the impression that the Chinese version doesn't have all the bandwidths. So it could have issue connecting to 5g in the EU?

Recording phone calls is possible on the chinese version of the Mi 10 out of the box.
I already unlocked the bootloader and flashed the Xiaomi.EU ROM.
Now I have my native language (german) and it's still possible to record phone calls without a problem

Thanks a lot for the feedback, it's good to know the can recording works on the EU rom.
I suspect all the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro varieties should also be able to record calls.
I'm waiting for the Mi 10 Pro global version, with rumoured release date of 27th March.
Looks like an amazing phone, and a big improvement in my aging (but trusty) LG G6.

I understand I won't to able to record out of the box, but I. Believe my own call recorder app by Skvalex will work (hopefully without rooting)?
Apparently the Chinese version is missing a band that is used for 4g in the UK, and I've heard it can have issue with contactless payments and Netflix (but I don't know much about this)

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying with the beta version of Google dialer call recording is enabled? That's great news if so.
You should hopefully be able to find the recordings in a file manager by searching for the latest files immediately after recording a call?

German would be awesome for me personally, but can also live with English. But in my case it would be more pleasant with german.
Hi there,
I have had the device since December 21st. in gasoline use and I recommend Morelocal2 apk, so it works in almost every language, I have to give access via ADB, as is so often the case, and please click on "disable permission monitoring" under developer options. What is probably no longer possible to freeze or uninstall the launcher

You can activate the frame rate display in the developer settings. Have you checked that out yet?
