Outgoing caller i.d not working - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just switched from windows phone to android and I'm having problems with my outgoing caller i.d not working
I've checked in the appropriate settings and made sure that sending my own number is checked, but it doesn't work. The phone is a Nokia 7 plus running the latest stock version of android.
The problem is that I have elderly relative who have their phones set to automatically block incoming calls that are private/blocked numbers, so I can't call them from my mobile.
I tried everything I can think of to no avail. If call my home number it displays as "no number" instead of "private number" which is what it would usually show for a purposely blocked incoming number. Thanks for any help

Missed Call - Unknown?

I've missed a few calls frompeople who are not in my contact list.
However when I go to the 'Call Log' to check the call, it does not show the number of the person that has rung me. It just says 'Unknown'.
Is there anyway that I can change this so that it tell me the number atleast of the missed call so that I can call back?

It won't work.
The problem in your case is, that the people who have called you didn't transmit their telephone number.
So, there is no number to show. If a call come in from a number that is transmitted and is not in your contacts it will show you the number....

[Q] Enabling a default prefix for all telephone numbers in Contacts

Hello,
I'm facing the following problem: My Android based (Gingerbread) smartphone has a number of contacts with several phone numbers (home, work, mobile etc.) for each. When I call a contact the call goes through the mobile operator and I'm charged for the call by him.
I also have an an Asterisk-based PBX with a FCT (Fixed Cellular Terminal, or GSM Dialer or Fixed Wireless Terminal) connected to a VOIP provider that charges much less. If I prefix a phone number in Contacts with a fixed string (containing the mobile number to the SIM card in the FCT, plus some pause, plus the password to access the PBX's dial tone plus a bit more of pause) it works fine.
What I'm looking for is a way to have this standard prefix string stored somewhere and it be automatically padded at the beginning of each number dialed. Ideally, when dialing a contact I would be asked if I wanted to call with or without the standard prefix.
Is that doable?
All help is very much appreciated.

After further searching I've come across an app found on Android Market called Prefixer, by 253below.com. It does everything I want and much more. Maybe this info will help some one else looking for this.
Hello
I need a little help please...
i have configured the follow rule für incoming calls:
When numbers matches:
\+49535111222.*
remove characters:
\+49535111
Add number to call log:
prefixer number
other preferences are default.
i will like to see the 222 at a incoming call on the calling sreen, but i dont see it.
In the call log is the correct number 222, but dont on the calling sreen, there is only the android calling number with all caracters
Tobi
Hi Tobi,
I'm afraid I can't help with your problem as I've only used Prefixer for padding a prefix to outgoing calls, according to filters. However, they have a forum running at the developer's site (253below.com) and you should be able to have your questions replied there.

[Q] Incorrect phone number displayed in recent calls - outgoing

Since around the beginning of March I noticed that my phone is showing completely random numbers for all outgoing calls for people that I have in my contacts list. The numbers that it shows are not numbers that I have dialed or received calls from in the past. (If I long-press one of the dialed numbers, the "Call +***-***-****" line displays the correct number), so it seems to be more of an appearance issue. The numbers displayed seem to be consistent for the person I call. I do not remember making any changes around the time this started, but I did notice it about 1 week after it started, so I don't remember exactly.
The correct person is displayed, just a completely random number. When I called Verizon they had never heard of this issue, and the numbers it is displaying are not Verizon numbers. The area codes for the numbers are for completely different parts of the country.
The only dialing related program I have installed is Google Voice, but I am not making these calls using it.
Complete factory reset fixes it, but I don't want that so I did a nandroid restore afterwards. Clearing the recent calls list does not fix the issue.
See attachment for image of what it is doing. I would have linked it but apparently I need 8 more posts to do so.

Pbxes / GV on ICS native Wifi

First of all I apologize if this already has been discussed on this forum. I have looked but couldn't find anyone discussing this issue.
I have a galaxy Nexus that is setup for pbxes/ google voice incoming / outgoing calls. When I receive a call it looks like this on screen
John [email protected]
but since this number is in my contacts list it appears as John +1 512-425-4277 on call log screen.
When I hit the number to call back nothing happens. But when I manually enter the number +1 512-425-4277 it dials fine. Seems like Pbxes can't dial back to the same number it sends with incoming call. What am i missing in the configuration so that wifi outbound calling works fine for a regular number but not for internet number. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Did you every get this fixed?
No. I am now using cell phone minutes to receive and google voice/ pbxes to make calls.

[Q] 9300 On Straight Talk ATT, Need to Change Voicemail Number for Speed Dial 1

Hi All,
So I got Straight Talk with ATT on my S3 and tried to setup Google Voice as the voicemail.
I initially ran into the issue of GV crashing when trying to set it up from my phone/app. I then went through the voice website and set it up through there, basically did the whole entire *004*+GV number+3,etc.
Now GV is set as the voicemail and the conditional call forwarding is working.
However, what I cannot for the life of me change is the dialer shortcut/speed dial #1 and get it to be set to call GV. It always uses the ST number.
I tried:
1.) Call Settings>Voicemail Service> *selects* google voice...system does this whole service thing then says "voicemail number change unsuccessful"
2.) Call Settings>Voicemail Settings> Voicemail Number> changes the number to my phone's number or the GV phone number, gets the same error as before "voicemail number change unsuccessful"
3.) Tried reinstalling the app, turning phone on and off, deactivating and reactivating GV voicemail, nothing works.
So is it even possible to change the voicemail number so I can get speed dial 1 to work with GV or is the voicemail number locked to the sim card/provider?
On TouchWiz JB 4.1.1

mwc
