Has anyone noticed a significant difference between the August security update that released today Build CRG9 and the July security update that released recently. Just seems like bug fixes to me, but knowing Samsung they can always add a few small feature updates.
What bug fixes did you notice? Its probably just a patch I'm betting. I'm actually surprised we got a security update thats only a month old lol
The glitches I started getting after the July security update were issues with bluetooth connections with my car, since it would think it was in a call but playing music.. havent had that since, I used to have certain apps crash, that's stopped.. and I also had issues with wireless charging where it would randomly turn always on display on, which was never enabled. But I havent had those issues once since the August update.. but it's kinda nice just being a month behind with the security updates. Maybe Samsung's gonna start giving us updates more frequently... one can hope

Anybody knows whether or not there is a global update scheduled soon for xperia s? Im currently on build .452 stock ics.. And im sick of the bugs.
Fm radio doesnt work properly, the sound is deep and connection keep fluctuating.
Loud speaker on voice calls is very low. You cant hear unless you put the phone in front of your face.
Media server keeps draining battery along with android system. Uses almost half of the battery on stand by.
These are the main bugs i encountered and i do not think its the cause of a faulty device as these bugs has been reported numerous times already.
Im in the philippines and the update service on my pc says i have the latest software. So anybody knows whether sony is even working on an update or are they too busy releasing a sack of phones that people cant even keep up with anymore.
Yes, a firmware update is in testing now.
From CES 2015, Mike Fasulo, the CEO of Sony Electronics, announced that the entire Xperia Z series will get Lollipop next month.
Are you guys excited for it or no? With the new Lollipop update, you guys think we will receive the simultaneous voice and data with it too? Will this update also unlock software features that our phone were supposed to have (FM Tuner, Location-based Wi-Fi, etc)?
What do you guys think?
Edit.. because i am an idiot and realized what board I was in.. oops.
I'd expect Verizon to take a little longer with the update considering their history with other phones.
In terms of features, I doubt you'd see any of the missing features being introduced. If verizon wanted to give us FM radio they would have done it in the original release. Voice and data, on the other hand, are expected to be in this update
Now would the Lollipop update itself fix the issue with simultaneous voice and data? I was under the impression that it would need to be an update on the Verizon end. Verizon will probably delay the Lollipop update by a few weeks to work their software updates into it as well.

Technically the VoLTE or Advanced Calling 1.0 feature is a separate update, but it is highly likely Verizon will be working that update into the Lollipop update to minimize OTAs so close together.
Something tells me Sony is also working to get the OTA to start at 5.0.1 right from the start. It would be nice if Verizon is already working with Sony to include all of their junk.
Otherwise, we might expect the other Sony devices to get their update in February and March, and after Verizon takes their sweet time with excessive testing and adding in all of their junk, we might be lucky to see an update by April.

So true, Verizon has a history of impeding updates, adding bloatware and locking the OS.
Funny Verizon adds the bloat and we try and remove it, why waste their time and money adding it if they know we are just going to remove it, makes no sense, but we are talking about Verizon here.
Just think of all the millions Verizon would save if it just stopped adding bloatware in. Knowing how greedy Verizon is you would think they (Verizon) would stop and reap the profits from it.
Lollipop being used with the Bravia TV, in one part of the video you see they pull down the lollipop quick settings

So according to http://www.talkandroid.com/288653-the-nexus-5x-march-update-goes-beyond-security-patches/ it looks like the 5X got more then just securty fixes for the March update.
Sooooo maybe this means that the 6P will also get more than just security updates. Like maybe the dreaded no LTE on reboot problem fixed. This could also be why we have not gotten our update and most other devices have.
What do you guys think?
We haven't got the OTA but, the zip is available from the google dev site where you can download the full factory image.
So I imagine we won't be seeing this change as they've already pushed the update.
Yeah the update has been out for at least a couple of days now.
I received the VS98816A update over the weekend and it doesn't seem to have fixed any of the slowness that the VS98815A update brought.
Anyone experiencing any new problems with the VS98816A update?

YES! Some of my apps aren't working properly, I can't connect to networks that I could previously connect to, and my battery is being drained a lot quicker than before I got this upgrade.
I haven't had any issues or notices any differences with 16A.
i still havent recieved VS98816A...I even tried the PC upgrade method and it says its updated to the latest version but not VS98816A...Idk why i get my update slowes than other verizon phones

downloading as we speak. OTA probably won't hit until the end of the week. OTA has been slow the past few months.
Anyone noticed security patch level is 1st August instead of usual 5th?

It's always the 1st Monday of the month, unless that falls on a US holiday, then it pushes to Tue.
Lately I've done manual checking and Google seems to have been slower. It has taken a few days to push out. This most recent update is a bunch of nothing really. Few tweaks and enhancements and security patches. Nothing too wild.
can't sideload the ota update
it says missing config netfilter every 47% sideloading
