Hi all,
I installed the latest official firmware from Samsung which was rolled out officially in Spain, and I wanted to take the opportunity to share two things that bother me:
1.) Lock screen shortcuts: any shortcut app on the lock screen (e. g. camera, flash light) still asks for the PIN. I thought the idea of the shortcuts was to avoid having to type in the PIN for non-security-related apps ...
2.) Keyboard language switching: the space bar wiping for switching the language is really nice, BUT: voice typing does not use the same language as the one specified for typing! When I go to voice typing, even worse, I have to select the language I want to dictate two times, the first time will not be recognized!
Ok, hopefully I am wrong but I rather doubt it... if anybody can confirm these things please let me know!

Well....lockscreen freeze on leak jb, that's a bug.
Shortcuts: PIN code selected as lockscreen security? If so, make sense that it'll prompt.
KB language: Got no idea, never used it.

If it's not a bug, what is the benefit? Suppose I have the flashlight app on my homescreen. If I want to access it I have to do:
- enter PIN
- tap on the icon
Now, with the great new lockscreen shortcuts, I do:
- tap on the icon
- enter the PIN
What's the benefit of the lock screen shortcuts, anyone?
What's the benefit of setting your lockscreen to ask you for a PIN number?
So that people can't access to your device.
Shorcuts play the same role.

Yes, the benefit of the PIN is security. I did not understand the rest of your answer.
As far as I understand, the widgets and shortcuts on the lock screen of the pure Android Jelly Bean, as it is installed on the Nexus 4, is the following: you can access some applications even without entering your PIN. This makes totally sense for some non-security related applications like the flashlight, or the music player. In the Samsung Jelly Bean adoption, I still have to enter the PIN code - so what's the sense of the shortcut then?
If something is not working as it is intended it is a bug. To me, this is a bug. Where can I file a bug report for the Samsung Jelly Bean?

On htc sense is the same. Has been since 2011 on Sense 3.
It's not a bug. No point reporting it, it makes sense, why would you set a password but apps can be opened from shortcuts?

So, what's the point of the shortcuts then? I don't see why it is faster to first press the icon and then enter the PIN, compared to first entering the PIN and then pressing the icon.
So you don't want anyone that hasn't your PIN code to use your phone, but you also don't mind them using whatever apps you got shorcuted on your lockscreen?
That's how you want your phone's security to work?

Galaxy S2 Omega v19.2 FC during charge
Hi all,
I have just installed the omega v19.2 rom and found a bug. If I put the USB cable to the phone (charger or my PC, does not matter) and let it switch off itself automatically, then I can not switch on the device again, have to pull out the battery and restart again. If I switch off the screen with the power button during charging than it does not freeze, i can switch it on again. Any solution?

Only after a reboot. First unlock after a reboot has to be PIN. Then after that fingerprint works normally. Was always this way before the update though.
Yep. I had to stop using the double tap to screen lock gesture on Nova. Guessing Samsung doesn't want 3rd Party apps to have control to lock the screen.
Man, that sucks. Hope Nova tweaks it for us. I feel like I'm going to wear out the power button, not to mention it's easier to double tap to lock

YES anytime the phone locks you have to use fingerprint and PIN. Good news is you can get rid of the lock screen and still use samsung pay with fingerprint. They need to fix this AND issue and soon though

This is why I don't use a secure lockscreen. It causes more grief than anything else. I'm honestly surprised that Samsung lets you use Samsung Pay and other fingerprint features without a lock screen. Every other device I have used wipes your fingerprints as soon as you turn off the secure lockscreen. I usually just do without.
I posted this on the ZTE Community forums, and thought I'd add it here as well.
The notification bell on the lockscreen is a major annoyance for many of us. I was looking for some other way to manage this, but lockscreen widget apps don't work, and most lockscreen apps don't support the fingerprint reader, Smart Lock, or double tap to wake. After reading a lot of reviews, I'm cautiously optimistic about Next Lock Screen, an Android app by Microsoft, of all things! This app sort of runs "on top" of/with your built in lockscreen. It shows the notifications, right there, no bell, and it still works with the fingerprint reader and the double tap to wake feature on my ZTE Axon 7. It claims to still work with Smart Lock, but I haven't been able to try that yet.
Google Play Store Link: Next Lock Screen - Android Apps on Google Play
In the Next Lock Screen settings, set the "Screen Lock" option to "System" to keep your double tap to wake, fingerprint, PIN, etc. just as you already have them. If you do this, you will still get a glimpse of your old ZTE lockscreen now and then, when you try to go into the Next Lock Screen settings, and it shows you the ZTE screen and makes you fingerprint scan before changing settings.
The Next Lock Screen is not quite as fast as the ZTE Lockscreen, so you glimpse it briefly before your homescreen, when the device unlocks.
I like the app that you suggest, but is there a way to keep showing ZTE wallpapers? ZTEs setup keeps changing wallpapers everytime the screen wakes up. I kinda like the feature. I know the Next Lock Screen app has a similar feature with Bing wallpapers, but that is only once per day.
I've been using Next for the past week to get around the bell and it works quite well - especially with the fingerprint sensor. Very surprised that it took MS to make a very useful and intuitive lockscreen for Android. Of course, I'd rather have pure Android instead of an app work around.
That bell is truly a feature that i dont understand. So, si annoying and stupid.
Thanks for this but I'm gonna try the root way first

Basically any 3rd party lockscreen, like Next, AcDisplay, Ambient display, etc, will disable the stock lockscreen when the 3rd party app takes control. It's a work-around. People probably want some kind of interaction from the lockscreen anyway, and this is a way to get rid of the stupid bell and get that interactive display at the same time.
Edit: I missed the post before yours. I do hope that someone creates an option in settings on a future ROM to disable it directly though. After root and bootloader unlock of course.

or just shout about it loud enough at ZTEs, so that they will make it an optional feature in coming updates... there is a bunch of optimal features they should integrate:
- optional bell on lockscreen
- optional on-screen buttons (as chinese 6gb versions have already)
- optional black/dark theme (specially with that amoled display)
... will tell more when I got the phone :silly:
I kind of defeated the bell using Tasker to simulate a touch right where the bell is. Unfortunately it simulates a touch even when I use the finger print. Not really sure which is more annoying, the bell or having a touch in the upper left every time the screen comes on. That's how ****ing annoying this bell is.

How's that a root workaround? The method you described can be used without root as well and the problem with it is that it doesn't support the fingerprint scanner.
Does anyone have a stock android lockscreen app so I can install is as a system app and delete ZTE one? Thanks

Still, that was rather clever of you. :good:
I figured out how to have the bell auto open with Tasker. I uploaded the two profiles that are needed to do this. Probably not the most elegant Tasker work but meh it works. This works by simulating a touch where the bell is when you are on the lock screen but not when you use finger print unlock.
Looks like you need root for this.
To import: Save xmls to /sdcard/tasker/profiles
Load up tasker and long press profiles and hit "import".

2. Not understand.
3. Custom firmware for what?

3 custom firmware to expand the functionality of the watch.

Hi
After update MIUI to 12.5, I normally use an application (screen off and lock) to lock the screen, since double tap doesn't work.
Turns out that after the update when I lock the screen through the app, I can't unlock with fingerprint saying that "device locked by admin" and I have to use the pin to unlock.
Anyone knows how to overcome this?
Thanks in advance.

So easy but still so difficult to figure out...
This was really good to learn about i have to say, thank you very much for your help!
I solved this issue after updating my Mi Note 10 to MIUI 12.5.1 by switching from 3rd party screen lock / turn off app to an official built-in widget simply called "Lock" (go look for it, it should be near the top in Widgets section when you press and hold empty home screen area).
To remove unofficial screen lock app you must first revoke admin rights, of course, otherwise its ghost will keep reappearing after each uninstall attempt.
I simply like stock MIUI Launcher, so using 3rd party ones to solve this was unacceptable for me.
if u guys are just talking about turn off screen without using side button, then there are some options present in miui...
1) [if u r using button navigation] setting> additional setting> button shortcut> turn off screen> choose as ur choice
2) You can also use the quick ball, 'setting> additional setting> quick ball' with quick ball u can use 5 shortcuts like home, menu, lock, clear cache, ss etc
3) the widget option... Just like d789 said
And 'double tap to wake or turn off screen' option is present in the "setting> always on display & lock screen"...
Thanks, I overlooked that buttons shortcuts in Settings can be configured to lock the screen as well (e.g. long hold Back or Home on-screen button).
Yeah, double-tap to wake or turn off screen is also very useful feature I use since day 1.

For me this doesn't work.
I use Nova and always have.
In Nova I go to "Gesture and Inputs" change the "double tap" to "screen lock".
I then choose "Accessibility" and add Nova.
After that if I double click nothing happens. If I remove Nova from accessibility and then double tap it asks me to use device admin or accessibility. I use this way on every single mobile I use but on 12.5.3 I can't pick accessibility as it refuses to do anything when Nova is added.

It's a rare but annoying glitch in MIUI, you can easily solve it:
1. Go to TWRP -> File Manager
2. Browse to: /data/system
3. Delete file "locksettings.db"
4. Reboot.
You will need to set the lock screen password/pattern again, if you had any before.

Dear friend, my phone is Redmi Note 7 Pro. I had no issues after doing this. It worked perfectly for me. So, as I saw this forum thread before fixing my phone, I just shared the information I knew. Not everyone will get the same result from this, because not everyone has the same phone. So, whether or not you didn't get the expected outcome, you shouldn't tell others to not follow this. It's their choice, not yours. Maybe atleast some of them will find it useful than you did.

The most important thing is, I can directly go to home screen just by touch the fingerprint button.

If you guys are talking about the fingerprint button then i suggest you just use the gestures that are provided by default of the settings since there nust be a spatial consisting of failure of recognizing the algorithm of identifying user by fingerprint method or they just didn't implement the algorithm that is stored inside the operating system of the phone.
So gestures is the only way to go you can apply gestures by using monetary apps that may give access to other gestures like slide down to view user statistics or usage and slide up to reveal system settings but i couldn't blame the operating system though for having not enough gestures but I'm also. Thankful that they have custom gestures so i wouldn't imply to an app that can be placebo or popular in playstore who knows it can be money cashgrab(just stating the fact that i had to cancel so many subscription on a gesture app)
