Maybe it's on auto i also can't find settings related to 5ghz.
There are no such settings. I've never seen a phone with such. it's always available by default. if you can't find it on your phone's wifi network search then it's your internet modem issue. Either your modem does not support 5ghz or some other compatibility problem.

Lucky you, I still can't detect my 5Ghz Wifi SSD, I can connect to my 5Ghz with my laptop easily.
I can not find the Wifi Frequency setting on WIFI Setting / Additional Setting, I think it's ROM issue.
I use the latest official global stabil one.
It should show 5G wifi as below

Can you change channel frequency and see if that works? I changed mine to 44, and that seems to be working.

Other Xiaomi phones, to give as an example, redmi note 3 has an option to switch off or on 5 ghz scanning.
In fact you can select which among the two to be scanned for.
But, yes, unfortunately (according to me), Poco F1 doesn't have a switch. Both frequency wifi scanning are enabled by default.
And having an option will help us save battery.

probably why ,region locked , lol still dont understand why they do this
I just had the same issue, had the phone set to indonesia, no see any 5ghz wifi. changed locations to india and boom it can see them.
This is just f*cked up behaviour from xiaomi.
Now it make more sense, im now in Indonesia and I can't see 5g wifi unless I turn on airplane mode. Wonder why there is a region lock.
It depends on your modem if it has an AP band, 5ghz frequency. And Pocophone F1 has wifi hotspot capable of switching of AP bands from 2.4ghz to 5ghz.
pocophone f1 5G problem.. FIX!!
same problem for me. but i already fix it by enabling wps on my modem just check the box on the top of wps save it and reboot your modem.
why cant we have a seprate scaning or priority mode. do you guys know any rom for poco which has this option available?

I have Mi Router 4A. I set everything up, changed the channel to 44 in the router. It was automatic 149, then 157. Cool.
Yes it does detect wifi 5ghz band and have the option in hotspot
But as of my knowledge it is present only in oreo to change the hotspot to 5ghz band

I don't really know mate. My connection with the Acro S has been butterfly smooth (both 3G and wifi). Maybe you should check your router setting?
I find it odd you're having wifi strength issues as well. I feel like the wifi antenna is better on my Acro S than my Galaxy S2.

Hmm, it won't be my router issue, my ipad, x8 and PC connects without issue.
I think something wrong in wifi hardware.
I always get "connection timed out" in play store, and spamming the install>cancel>install>cancel but no help.
The only thing is once I pressed install, i return to homescreen and wait the app to download itself background...
Have to claim warranty then. :good: LOL

So i have to do something to my router.

Im not sure. I read sony forum, there's several tips regarding b/g/n and channel
authentication is not mentioned there.
There's tons of ppl complaining this in sony forum.
I think there's a lot users out there facing this, but none posted in xda.
The wifi antenna of Sony is more "picky" than the average phone antenna. So it will very likely to refuse connecting to bad signal all the time.

Maybe, that means no solution?
I changed wifi bandwidth to 20 instead of 20/40, it improved a little, but still dropouts occasionally.
SOLUTION:
Double wifi speed of OP2
According to XDA Senior Member dreinulldrei, the WiFi configuration file used in the OnePlus 3 and 3T is the default one provided by Qualcomm. That’s not really an issue in and of itself, but the user discovered that the default configuration disabled channel bonding in the 2.4GHz frequency. 5GHz frequency networks have channel bonding enabled (and if you have access to this frequency, then it is advised you connect to it), but if your router only support the 2.4GHz frequency then this trick may be useful for you.
Enabling channel bonding should theoretically double your wireless throughput (as long as your router supports channel bonding), as the channel width increases from 20MHz to 40MHz. This trick is quite easy to implement, as all one needs to do is modify one line in WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini (located in /system/etc/wifi).

Original article - https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-double-the-wifi-speed-on-your-oneplus-3-3t/
I didn't get the maximum speed of my connection through my OnePlus 2 either. So I checked WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini (located in /system/etc/wifi)
to see if by any chance it's disabled on OP2 as well & YES!
Channel bonding in 2.4GHz frequency's disabled by default on OnePlus 2 as well.
Use following method to enable channel bonding in 2.4GHz frequency & speed up your connection,
Warning!
I won't be held responsible for any damaged/bricked devices. Use this guide at your own risk
In essence, there is a greater possibility for wireless interference if you enable a channel width of 40MHz. The exact reason why it increases interference is more complicated than is necessary to cover in this article, but in general “40MHz wide channels over 2.4GHz is not a good idea in urban areas where there is a high density of WiFi access points” to quote XDA Recognized Developer SultanXDA.
However, if you are located in a more rural or suburban area where there are few wireless networks to interfere with your own, this fix provides a free way to double your phone’s network speed. Try it out and let us know if it works for you!

Method
-> Open WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini (located in /system/etc/wifi) using a text editor
-> Find line "gChannelBondingMode24GHz=0"
-> Change "gChannelBondingMode24GHz=0" to "gChannelBondingMode24GHz=1"
-> Save & Reboot. Done!

Maybe your router has channel bonding disabled. Plus make sure it's a 2.4GHz. For 5.0GHz it's already enabled in WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini

Yes, u right. My connection speed is 15mbps..
Seen on the XDA news portal for the OP3, I immediately did it for my OP2 and it works. Just a shame that I use 5GHz everywhere, so it doesn't add a use for me
Saw this for OP3 too. Did it on my OP2. Worked: faster Wifi. 150 mbps.
Then noticed Portable WiFi Hot-Spot stopped being detected by other devices (laptop, other phones).
Reverted changes same way: edit file, set to 0. Issue remained.
Finally solved by restoring a recent backup of System partition via TWRP.
Also, note that your router or access point must be 802.11n compatible, and enabled with correct settings. With older 802.11g models you are stuck at 54 Mbit/s anyway.
Little guide on that topic: https://www.lifewire.com/get-300-mbps-speed-on-802-11n-network-818267 (OP2 will get only 150MBps because it has one antenna)

Indeed you did.
Unfortunately I'm not savvy enough to understand how that warning is related to the HotSpot from my OP2 not being detected by even my car's Android stereo (which detected it before the change) even in my building's underground parking where there was no other WiFi network available... in theory, there would be no interference there if no other WiFi network is detected... right?
...or you meant the text in red? If so, I'm not putting blame on anyone! I was just commenting on my experience as I did see no mention of such problems so that others could would check this if they do need the hot-spot as I do.
Cheers!

I admire your contribution by sharing your issues after changing channel bonding. It's the reason forums like xda exists. What I meant was I added a 'Warning' section because there will be issues to be expected(for some). In that section I quoted discovered issues mentioned in the article.
As for your problem,
You said the problem existed even after reverting the change ? Right ? Maybe it's not the one caused the problem. Maybe something else did.

Yup. Undid the change in same way I applied it: set system to r/w, edit file, save, set system to r/o, reboot. I even tried wipe cache/Dalvik just in case too. No fix.
I can't say for sure it was this as I have no hard proof, but I'm pretty positive. Reason: In between the change and reverting it, I did nothing else to system (this is in fact first time I touch it) nor did I install any new apps. I'm very careful on changes and never apply more than one at a time or too frequently. This way I can isolate issues. And also that got solved by restoring system partition alone.
Anyway!! Just thought of reporting it for people to be aware and check this if they apply the change. If in fact the change has no impact over the hot-spot, then I did do something else and can't remember!
Thanks & Cheers!

Amazing! I'll try implementation of this into my ROM and see how it goes in general
This solved the old firmware question for me (3.5.6=random reboots, 3.1=WiFi drops). Now I can just use the 3.1 firmware without any downsides.

If that wifi has the same band 2.4ghz/5ghz over in one SSID, the phone will always pick up the strongest signal which is 2.4ghz. But now, Pocophone F1 doesn't have the feature to set manually the AP band you connect. I'm currently using LineageOS. Maybe in a certain custom rom, you could set the AP Band manually. Some users around in XDA Forums said that you can manually set it.

But Pocophone has no feature and setting to do that.
If you could find another SSID with 5ghz frequency band, if it is open or has a WPA2/WPA password (I assume that you got the password for that) then you can connect it on 5ghz frequency band.

I think this isn't what you want but I'm on PE and 5ghz performs way better than 2.4, if you have 2 networks just forget the 2.4 one. If they share the same network, Then I don't know if there's anything you can do about it (Apart from maybe logging to the router and hoping that the school left the password as 'admin' or something and then playing around with the settings.)

Argh mate.. I literally got mine in the post this morning, fired it up, start going through the usual android initial setup, asks to connect to wifi, there is my 5Ghz connection, I connect to it, boom, all good.
Then it tells me there is an update right away, straight after connecting to 5Ghz wifi, so of course I accept. It downloads, installs, tells me to reboot. I do.
Phone reboots, wifi no longer connected, asks me to connect to wifi. I search for my 5Ghz wifi, nada.zip.gone.
Oh, my 2.4Ghz connection is showing, just no more my 5Ghz...
So yeah, it's definitely the software update that has knocked 5Ghz wifi off for no apparent reason that I can fathom. Rather frustrating to say the least.

You need to either enable or disable 20/40hz coexist in your router. This is a normal thing for cheap wifi modules. My PS Vita and Xbox One are the same way. Wifi doesn't work at all if that is enabled or disabled. Can't remember which one it was. Haven't used those for years lol.
But it has something to do with 20hz and 40hz coexisting that makes 5Ghz not come up for some devices. It also limits your speed to 286mbps.
This will be fixed in software cause it's likely just a bug when they were optimizing better wifi stability but ended up dropping a portion of how 5Ghz works lol

Hello, since the first day I have a problem with the wifi of my s23 ultra. When I move from one room to another and receive the wifi signal from a different antenna, the mobile wifi is not working. There is a symbol next to the wifi icon and I have to close and reopen the wifi connection to make it work properly. These latest updates have not been able to fix this. I have done a lot of research and there are reports of problems with wifi6, but this is not my case. All the "tricks" to fix the wifi that I have read, have not helped. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Is your network hidden? if so then try connecting to a visible network.

Are you using AdGuard? If yes try to disable it

Yes, I use Adguard. When I deactivate it, the same thing keeps happening to me. No wifi connection but also the wifi symbol disappears completely. It disconnects completely.

Try to disable 5Ghz if you can. Check if internet works on 2.4Ghz.

Can you confirm that second antena is working good? Looks like something is wrong with it. Settings or antena itself

I'm sure it's not a problem with the antenna, because at my place of work the same thing happens to me.
This is usually related to your wifi, not your device. Happens to me at home.

What kind of routers or access point are you using home and at work? If you don't know maybe there is a chance that you have same router/AP at work? If that's the case it's likely router/AP fault
I don't know what else to do or try. I just know that with previous Samsung phones I have never had that happen. I want to believe that it is something that will be solved with a future update, because if not, it seems very bad that such an expensive phone has such an annoying failure.

Your AP/router is more like a failure. No issues on any router for me(tried at least 10. Bunch of cisco AP, xiaomi, tp link. Recently bought xiaomi ax6000 wifi 6e. 0 problems). Try to play around with settings. Check router/ap firewall it could be blocking connection for some reason.
Is that on your network/router or some wifi hotspot?
maybe there is some ip conflict, try setting ip you router from scratch, so reset everything and connect it first just to your device thats having the problem
