Are there directions to help a relatively newbie install this? I've recently purchased a Mi Pad - and it has an unofficial ROM and I'm hoping to flash this one. The device came unlocked already.
First, I followed this link to flash TWRP: stuffcompare.com/blog/807/How-to-flash-TWRP-recovery-in-Mi-Pad4. But I'm not sure that's actually successful. I'm not sure how to boot into TWRP...

Press and hold volume up + power buttons untill You see MI logo.
After a while TWRP should boot

After you died in a game, PUBG remains locked in the death cam and doesn't quit automatically to the lobby. So you need to press back button to force the exit menu to appear

Steps to flash:
NOTE : Use only one sim in first boot.
1. Download rom,supersu and gapps.
2.Save it in internal storage . (UNMOUNT SYSTEM AND CACHE VIA TWRP THEN ONLY START FLASHING PROCESSES)
3. Flash rom,then gapps and then supersu in one GO .First boot itsef(VERY IMPORTANT STEP) OR else gapps wont work (Added Fix below if gapps still dont work)
4.Wipe dalvik and cache reboot enjoy.First boot takes time
REMEMBER FIRST BOOT TAKE SOME TIME. AROUND 15MIN. IT WILL BE IN BOOTANIMATION. SO DONT WORRY
NOTE : (Remove gapps flashing in 3rd step for this FIX)
For those having trouble booting into the rom after flashing, or adding one or more google accounts there is a workaround that I found here on the Meizu forums.
Basically you just need to follow all of the steps in the OP. However, do not flash Gapps!! After booting into the system and completing the initial setup, open App Center, search for the app Google Installer, open the apps history, and download one of the older versions that is 30+mb (the newer versions are about 2-3mb). Install Google Installer, open it, then install Gapps from there. Then you should be able add your google account/s.

1--- If you get stuck after flashing gapps then reboot to twrp.
2--- Mount system partition.

And dont forget flash and use h20s 1.2. use fimgerprint reader and then go to recovery wipe everything and then flash fymeos for fp TO WORK

Says 25 minutes. I have 1 gbps up so it should take no time to upload to google drive.
EDIT: Just slowed down a ton. Didn't seem to stop but went from 200kb/sec for the first 40 minutes to 40 kb/sec. Might take longer than expected.
Guess I should reply instead of edit so post refreshes.

actually FP working is easy.
1--- First flash h20s 1.2 . boot it. Then u must save you fingerprint and password or pattern in that rom .(You cant change pass or pattern after you boot into fymeos)
2--- got to recovery. wipe system,data,cache and dalvik. Then flash flymeos. boot it. Do go to security section. You will get wrong password error.
Now Try. If any error come and ask

Actually with dualboot it must work. but u must be running H20s as primary. i will comfirm it later. But from logic it must work.
and also if you use in dualboot you wont be able to use the security section in rom (I mean you wont be able to change password in flymeos)
Getting GSM network disconnect, lag (more than on OOS), had to remove SetupWizzard apk from system/app to get device in homescreen. Overall nice rom, but i would not use it as daily driver. FP, LA working fine.

Hope you have no read OP. you must not use dual sim while booting. lag wont be ther if you did everything properly. btw home button lag will be there if you need FP scanner. Anyway fix will come soon . An try a custom kernel.report if working. use AK v23 oos version. AK v21 oos will be better

Ok i am finding the reason behind it. $g users in chinese site said about lag. 2g have no lag i guess. change to 2g and try.
Finally, we are having CM11 at the normal level. We (andreya108 and myself) were working very hard on CM11 and this the outcome. This is the joint work by both of us so please thank andreya108. There are lot of unknown issues to be tested and fixed but the most disastrous bugs are not present anymore. E.g. uncontrolled processor, reboots, battery drain, unstable GPS etc. From here onwards, we can discuss the issues arisen from long-term use of firmware since before this nobody had used this for daily. We do not claim that this is the complete version hence please do not flood the thread. If you have an issue send a personal message. At this moment, it is only for CN layout. This is just a beginning……

Also if you experience battery drain, it is due to gapps. serach xda to disbale the waklock by google play services using privacy option

Hello,
S226 is ROW version ROM. This cm ROM is for CN layout. First You have to flash CN based ROM using flashtool after that only flash this ROM using twrp recovery.

Using this ROM. Great ROM.
Till now working as mentioned in your main post. Not found any major bugs.
Can be used daily if cyanogenmod is your priority.

Please backup ur IMEI number. Also note that once ur on CM version and u restore ur IMEI, u will have to follow a process to hard write the IMEI number back to ur phone. Else every time u do a factory reset, it will erase the IMEI

Hi @stympy, thank you for your help. I flashed CM11-B2 successfully yesterday and so far everything seems to be good. I do have one question, however. The MIUI ROM you linked me to apparently disables internal phone memory and moves everything to external SD. Can you please link me to a FlashTool flashable CN based ROM that doesn't do this? Thank you!

If that's the same zip, which has been released on xda (Thread closed for now), do not install it as ColorOS Installation makes some of sensors to fail. So, better stick to Miui or flash a custom Rom or whatever you want, but do not install colorOS.

U have to activate volte in setting->call

Volte is there buddy...u just need to activate it...
And install Google play services apk file...that's it

Installation Step By ""nicks.1106""
1.wipe everything (system, cache,data)
2.flash cm13 firmware
3.flash cm13( do not boot)
4.flash color os
5.(optional) if u r facing sensor bugs then flash the sensor fix zip...
6.thats it
Note:- i formated my data(intern memory) before so that I can remove password on booting... sometimes this causes bootloop...
So if u have this password on boot, then better backup ur important stuff and format ur internal memory...

wow! color os without google is very nice experience. i can use facebook, whatsup ,chrome etc also. any possibility to register in oppo ?
flash miui 8.2 firmware, flash color os as secondary in multirom (quark os is primary) ,reboot,im not format data( but first time when i flash as primary ,formatted data also ).No google services. Backup account is only needed.

Been using it for like 2-3 hours,working pretty solid till now without encountering any bug. Battery is a little off compared to xiaomi.eu but I guess maybe because it is the first charge cycle. I haven't done any gaming yet,so not sure about the heating situation. Camera also works fine.
so in short,Yes it is usable as a daily driver.
Based on the file name it's still Oreo 8.0 based right?

Before installing by twrp, disable device search and close your xiaomi account in the mobile, then restart in twrp and make full wipes included internal memory and format data, restart again in twrp and install

After two days with it, no failure and smooth operation, very good battery and the perfect camera, no problem with any application, routed with magisk-v16.4 beta without problems

That's for phones that support bokeh mode by default.
Installed last night, all went smooth. The performance is stellar and every is working fine. Only issue I had was that somehow my TWRP recovery was overwritten by Xiaomi recovery.
Oh btw you don't need any Google installer APK you can just download the installer from the included Mi app store.
I will test out the rom today but I think I will restore my Lineage backup till the EU version is out....... the rom is great but there is way to much Chinese bloatware [emoji6]

I'm 100% agreeing with you, but keep in mind that all the official MIUI ROMs are overwritting the recovery

That is what official MIUI does ...
Always have a backup of your stuff not in the phone.
I do not use the official twrp, I use this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-note-2/development/twrpscorpio3-2-1-1tools-6blue-t3798956
So that there are no problems if you are in MIUI make a backup and before putting the rom deactivate from the mobile the device search and the account of xiaomi
once done reboot in twrp and make full wipes internal memory included and format data (if it gives montage error restart twrp again and perform again full wipes and format data) restart in twrp again and install, should not give you any problem with encryption
I do it like that and have never given me problems
and I do not overwrite the twrp either

Yeh might be but i never installed official MIUI ROMs before this one. Anyway took me 30 sec to hook up ADB and then Fastboot flash TWRP back. I rooted with Magisk and now all is perfect might even stay on this if i can tweak a few things to my liking.

Installation:

2 - Make a nanodroid FULL BACKUP.
3 - Push your backup from the phone internal storage to your PC via USB Cable.
4 - Push the ROM zip to your internal storage.

7 - Format Data (not wipe, FORMAT).
8 - Reboot.
If you need to restore your backup, push the backup back from the PC to your phone internal storage after first boot.
ATTENTION!!:

It has optimizations plus (and most important) the chinese vendor.
Also, some ppl had issues with FC on v2 of eu. So it had some apps repacked. Plenty of under the hood stuff

I have no lags on the UI (even on mi-globe). But i never used v2 as v2 FC for me.
So i would say yes.. but it depends on the cause of the lag. Can you describe better, like what ROM you have this lag and how exactly it occur?

on Xiaomi.eu 9.9.26 if you go to browser or some browser-app like, your phone will suddenly slow down for no reason.
Just a quick question please, since I didn't test Miui 11 roms up to now. I'm on Miroom 10.3.15 and 4pda's twrp. Will I mess something up if I just flash this through twrp or not? I see a lot of problems with bricked devices etc.

It could.
You really need to follow the flash instructions on the OP to avoid issues.
But rememver, TWRP dev is still young so problem free flashing is never a thing atm.

I would say the trouble was the TWRP version. Many ppl faced this issue on all MIUI11 ROMs

I have the issue as well(xiaomi eu pie works fine).
When I open chrome or any browser and surfing the web it's getting into horrible stutters. That's the reason many ppl don't use Q based miui.
Can u open chrome - go into incognito tab and surfing the web? After ~1min or sometimes after ~10mins the whole phone gets rly slow and everything is stuttering. Not only web based stuff.

I have to admit that i use Opera, on opera it work fine, even though Chrome isn't Chominium as Opera.
Shame :\ i'll report to the dev that so maybe he can fix on the next build

What I meant was following given instructions from the OP....I'm just curious if it all goes smooth. Can I ask which twrp are you exactly using? And you updated from Miui stable or 9.8.15 Beta?
