did you set your device to discoverable?
well BT Tether is also used to share a network basically. just like wifi tether or usb tether.
configure your hotspot, set device to discoverable and pair other device to it.

[Q] Can i do a hotspot from a wifi>device>usb>pc ?

I mean if my device connected to a wifi point.

When I trying to do it, from the setting (my ROM is stock-based) - it turn off the wifi connection with a warning.
and when i'm trying to connect to my wifi, again - the hotspot turn off.

[Q] Connect Phone to Tablet

Since Bluetooth Tethering is not available for connecting Phone to Tablet when WiFi is not available, how do I do it?
There are still many places without WiFi and with Bluetooth Tethering, I was able to use my WiFi only tablet.
So since I am told only a few use Bluetooth for Tethering, how do I make contact with my Tablet when I am in my car or at a place that does not offer WiFi?
I need a way to connect directly between these devices, is there a method to do this with some sort of cable connection?

You didn't elaborate in sufficient detail to give us a clear idea of why, when and how you wish to connect. But you have four options to investigate. Wifi, data, USB and bluetooth.

Can't you just use WiFi Tethering? Which tablet is it? What exactly are you trying to achieve?
I will try and explain: I am in my car and want to tether to my WiFi tablet. While in the car, I do not have a WiFi connection and have previously used Bluetooth Tethering to accomplish this connection. Since the Bluetooth tethering is not available, how do I make contact with the tablet when there is no WiFi?

Turn your phone into a WiFi hotspot. Use the WiFi tethering on your s5. You will then see the WiFi network on your tablet and you can connect to it.
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Thanks I'll try that and see what happens.

Wi-Fi hotspot and VPN

I'd like to use my phone tho share my 3G/4G internet connection but behind a VPN server. If I set a VPN service on my phone it works without problem but if I try to enable wifi hotspot and I try to connect a device it doesn't work.
Is there a way to connect a device via my phone hotspot connected to a VPN?
My phone is rooted.
No solutions?

Boo I'm on the case. I am able to connect to VPN and able to connect to the hotspot...mullvad I believe is working. But the VPN is NOT extended to the devices connecting to the primary hotspot. The IP shown is a direct variant of my own :'(

Question Share my wifi connection through wifi? (have root)

Is there a way to connect my phone to wifi. Then share that connection through wifi? Maybe an external wifi adapter?
The other phones are iOS so they have to connect to a wifi.
Wouldn't you just connect to whatever WiFi network with the phone as per usual, then create a mobile hotspot in network settings to enable other devices to connect ? (or even use Bluetooth tethering)

Just use the mobile hotspot feature while you're connected to a wifi

I mean....why? If the phone that needs to use your phone's connection is in near your phone...why waste you time and battery sharing a WiFi connection when you could simply connect both phones to the WiFi directly?

I actually ha situation in my life when I really needed this feature, to extend wifi range. Can be useful, and some time ago you needed third party app requiring weird permission or root

In many cases when travelling you get One single wifi login. Would be nice to share it with the family, on a plane or in a hotel.
