Huawei Mate 10 Pro BLA-A09 C567 openkirin? - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hey does anyone know if installing open Kirin on the US variant of this phone will work? Their site does not show BLA-A09 as supported, but I am curious if anyone has gotten it to work.
My reason for this is because obviously the US version lacks software support.

yep been doing it for quite some time now,Its great for testing but beware you will experience bugs and if you are used to using emui it will have missing features. Also it does not work with TWRP.Also you will have to use fastboot to flash your system image.

What else would I lose besides wifi hotspot? Are there any noticeably annoying bugs? I am looking for a strong daily driver. The lack of support on stock is not cutting it for me.
Can I flash from patch .119 c567?
Also is LOS 8.0 or 8.1? Battery better/worse? Camera quality? Root possible?
As for updates how do they go? (coming from a previous lineage version) Just flash the newer system image over the old one?
It appears openkirin gives monthly updates for this device which makes me really happy. Please let me know I am very interested!

You can flash from whatever rom your on but you will loose data so make sure you backup first cause it's not a upgrade it's a complete rom reflash.Camera works but you get no bokeh effects and there is a delay switching between modes.Battery life is reduced but performance is much better.

I'm possibly interested in this as well. As a US user on 119, I know that there are options. Pie roms even exist, though something tells me that they won't work on our variant.

Agreed if I could get a working pie ROM for our variant I would swap right away xD

you sure you were using an SD card (and the phone detects it)?
Jus sayin', I'm not gonna test it for now

Yay! I have never been so excited in my entire life! BTW, how do you guys know the bug for internal storage space has been fixed, or is that just purely speculation? You kinda make it sound like there's already a download available for people who want to beta test.

In my opinion nougat and oreo are the most unexciting Google OS I know. It's nice to have, but half of the first year after release devs on XDA and even Google itself trying to bring back the performance or/and battery life the OS version before had.
Not to mention the problems with Magisk etc.

I suppose you're right. Neither Nougat or Oreo have brought significant changes, they have both been 'minor' updates with subtle changes to improve certain aspects of the OS. The last major update to Android was Lollipop, when the entire appearance was drastically overhauled from previous versions. I'm only excited because we just have to take what we're given, and any update to update the appearance and usability of Android after an entire year is a refreshing change! Even though Nougat was only a small update, it feels unbearable to me when switching back to Marshmallow without the new quick settings swipe-down; the one before the entire notification area appears. So even the small features can make a lot of difference to the overall experience! I'm still really looking forward to seeing the changes made in Oreo for myself when it comes to the Axon 7.

I don't get why people say this, honestly. Just because you didn't get a visual overhaul like you got from KitKat to Lollipop doesn't mean there weren't significant changes. Visually the OS is already at a level where there's no need for a major change (it has been "ready" since Lollipop, imo; Marshmallow, Nougat, and Oreo have all had small visual tweaks but have stuck to the Material language), and most of the tweaks work "under the hood." Oreo will bring Project Treble, which may just be the most significant change in Android in the last few years. It also brings improvements on the behavior of notifications and background services or apps. It's an incremental update, yes. But it's by no means a small update.
@Gases
We talked about excitement.
I mentioned the problems with the new OS updates, which brings maybe more security but also many problems to custom ROMs. Furthermore there are more problems in the first months. I don't need visual tweaks.
Project treble is mainly positive for stock ROMs. We will see, in which way custom ROMs can profit of this new feature.
Background battery eating apps are no problem on custom ROMs based on LOS, if you use the internal features or external apps. But again. It's nice to have already implemented.
Finally I am always thankful for all kind of ROMs and kernels devs provide to the community. And I was always someone who donated to say 'thank you'

I am not the dev but this is probably more a promotion thread. Final builds will surely be on developement thread.
Some devs are working on oreo right now.
Let's wait and be thankful for their work.
Here is a small update about the situation. Since the most common stuff is working im going to release this rom in 1-3 days. But don't expect to much. This rom is still WIP.
Working now:
RIL(Calls, Sms)
Audio
Most of the stuff (NFC etc.)
Broken:
Camera
Fingerprint
VoLTE (Will be probably broken until we get new blobs)

Probably since they just got audio to work and the ROM is very experimental.
Really looking forward to testing this when the first release is posted on the forums. I'm just hoping the camera and fingerprint sensor will be relatively simple to fix. Thanks for everything you've done so far!

I was just looking over in the Nexus 6 forms and to overcome the camera issue for them they had to upgrade from 7.1.2 - 8.0 and then restart the phone. So there is hope especially since the Nexus 6 is a 32-bit phone and I'm pretty sure 8.0 was supposed to be 64-bit.

8.1 Roms

So i will be unlocking my bootloader tomorrow was considering to flash pixel experience 8.1.0 but then i got replies that app crashes are a big issue in that so was wondering if anyone could recommend me a better alternative with VoLTE THANKS!!!
It seems FireHound is pretty good since it's come pre patcher Camera2Api and Gmod.
Otherwise so far I understand are all those roms pretty similar, it just a matter of it's supports some mods you want. Otherwise just grab one you like..

Difference?

Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between all those Miui builds? I just got mine (I live in the Netherlands and bought it at a local store) and its running 'MIUI Global 10.1.3.0 stable' from the box.
Should i, or is it worth upgrading or downgrading to something else? However the heck that works? XD
I'm not new in rom hacking, i owned a Moto G5 Plus (Potter) before this one. But this phone is really something different. Lol.

I would suggest just to wait for the 10.2.2.0 update. Its being rolled out now, you should get it any moment.
I, personally, am still at MIUI, only unlocked bootloader and rooted in order to be able to apply Google camera fix patch and to enable notifications in the notch area.
Oh, also installed AdAway to get rid of the ads. This one requires root, too.
Switched to Lawnchair launcher.
Quite happy with it at the moment.
Cheers.

Same reasons, give or take.
Well, first of all, I cannot decide which one. Second, I'm being lazy since have already set all the apps and layout and what not.
Also, xiaomi promised some great miui update in February. Wanna see what they got.

Suggest me a ROM.

I've been on stock Oreo forever. Looking to try something new.
Was going to give something LOS 16-based a go (so I didn't have to irreversibly update drivers), but I'm led to understand that non-stock VoLTE couldn't be figured out. Since I'm on Mint/T-Mobile, this...is going to be relevant at some point.
Was gonna go with A.I.X., but from what I've read, the developer threw a hissy fit and dumped months of work down the drain. Can't seem to find a copy.
Suggestions? Is it pretty much stock Pie and that's it?

I don't, but here we are anyway because apparently VoLTE standardization was just too much to ask for :v
Found A.i.X., so I guess I'll be trying to use it. Here's hoping whatever's needed for TMO VoLTE is included. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to be disappointed, though.
Cheers.

In case any fellow h932 owners are wondering: A.i.X. doesn't support US VoLTE out of the box, since it's based on EU/KR stuff. I dunno if it can be made compatible; simply copying settings out of 30d wasn't sufficient to make it work, and anything more is beyond my abilities.
That rather major problem made me end up flashing 30d, then other problems (which in the process of trying to solve I accidentally nuked my internal storage...*cough*) made me give up on Pie and go back to ol' reliable 20reo. Pity really, since 30d was MUCH better at handling large apps like Genshin Impact :\
Interestingly, I had zero issues with reverting to Oreo via TWRP backup. Kernel is set to Enforcing and everything. Maybe I didn't actually attain a "proper" Pie install, though everything driver-reliant was working. *shrugs*

Question Daily driver custom ROMs?

Hi, I'm interested in picking up a BC62 but are any of the currently available ROMs stable enough for daily driving?
I'm still living in the last decade and prefer the fully custom experience, but I suppose just getting root and bootloader unlock may be sufficient nowadays...
Apologies if this question is an easy one or frequently asked, I couldn't find much.
as you see, there is no supported custom roms for this device. You can try GSI roms.
unfortunately price too high and community not enough for devs
Well technically there's one custom ROM...but idk if it's still gonna be supported...i may try to build some now that the guides are up tho
I see there are a few abandoned ones under development but there's little talk about living with them. Guess nobody really does, ha.
Circumstances are just pushing me to switch carriers (and therefore phones) and it's hard to part with the custom ROM life. At least Sony OEM software is decent and root/unlock is actually supported.
I look forward your future projects, @Ainz_Ooal_Gown !

And how it works?
i just tried GSI a12 rom and camera didn`t work, ambient display didn`t work, autobrightness didn`t work. Back to stock
I used the Lineage ROM that's here ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-11-unofficial-lineageos-18-1-for-xperia-1-iii.4431701 ) for a few months. Unfortunately it comes with an outdated VideoPro app that can't be updated due to missing libraries (Theoretically you can if you mod a newer APK, but I'm not very experienced in coding and wasn't able to make it work). Also this meant Sony-specific apps like 3D creator, etc... won't install or update without modding them.
The only other problem I noticed was 5G NSA didn't work, just LTE with carrier aggregation at best. This wasn't a big problem personally since 5G NSA isn't reaaaallly an improvement all else being equal.
There were a couple other bugs / differences. The assistant button wouldn't function even with the Xperia+ app, and using the camera button to open the camera app behaved differently in a way that I didn't like. Probably a couple smaller things I'm forgetting about that I just lived with without issue.
Not being able to update or install Sony-specific apps was the deal breaker eventually. If I knew how to mod APK's to install/update them, I'd still be on that ROM today. It was actually really good. My battery life was noticeably better (probably mostly due to lack of 5G), I had no stability issues, the ROM was light and fast and I got all the customization that comes with Lineage out of the box.
i get it why there arent custom roms. what i dont get why arent any debloated stock rom either. sony does not have bloatware ?

Because there's no value in doing this.
Just get a root uninstaller and yeet the bloat.
As someone who tried a lot of roms, just don't. They all have serious demerits that are just not worth it.
Honestly it's quite jarring coming from Xiaomi/Samsung where custom roms are extensive are necessary or a worthwhile alternative respectively. I hoped we wouldn't need the size of community for this phone as everything is supposedly open source (or provided), but experience tells us otherwise. The phone is just too expensive -> phone doesn't go to eastern (read: eastern-europe and SE asia) developers and development just never takes off.
