This year there were two manufactures that did something that really P*** me off, Huawei and Xiaomi, with the Honor Play and Pocophone F1, they sent awesome looking phones to Youtubers, the Honor Play special edition, with the funky black or red back circuit board engraving and Xiaomi Pocophone Carbon fibre back, buuut, these never went on sale outside China, wtf? Why send cool looking phones to the most famous Tech Reviewers and to the general public, just the cheap A$$ looking phones. As anyone been able to find the carbon fiber model of the Pocophone F1? I've seen Honor Play Special Edition on a couple websites, but they come with Chinese EMUI and no 4G band 20, used by most EU network providers =(
Sorry about the rant, but been trying to find this particular model of the pocophone and I just can't
Hello,
yes, they are indeed difficult to find outside China / India.
I found one, but quite expensive. I payed 319 EUR for my 128 GB Poco, but they want 476 EUR (including shipping + taxes for UK, Germany and France) for the "Armoured Edition":

Thanks for the reply and you're right, I can get the 128Gb model for £270, £410 for the carbon back? That's crazy, that is Mi8 Pro or Oneplus 6T territory, hope this does not become a trend, showing one type of device that only reviewers will have access to it for free xD
Hello @hugoprh and everyone who is interested:
Poco just announced 2 more Armoured Editions:
https://www.themobileindian.com/new...armoured-edition-reportedly-coming-soon-24433
https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/poco-f1/
Hopefully they will make it to Europe / will be less expensive.
All the best
I took the plunge and purchased an MI 8 Pro in the last ebay sale with the already reduced Argos offer, as it was much cheaper that the standard MI 8, so am enjoying what seems to be a great device for 360 uk pounds.
With the amount of activity in the standard MI 8 thread I am beginning to wonder if I made the right choice
Needed NFC so the Poco F1 wasn't an option.
Was I the only purchaser or are people elsewhere?
Cheers
I purchased Xiaomi Mi 8 EE which is Chinese version of Xiaomi Mi 8 pro, its simply perfect high performance phone
Cool yes, I was trying to understand the various versions of the MI8 and did wonder if the Chinese variant was the same phone as the UK Pro..
Confirmed: Xiaomi won’t bring Redmi Note 7 Pro to rest of world
https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro-availability-968713/
Very disappointing. At least they gave us a 128 GB Note 7. I'm left wondering if I should grab one of those or import from China and suffer without LTE.
Looks like I'm getting the Mi 9 SE instead -_-
very disappointing Xiaomi, shame on you.
I dont know how can they come up with that sale strategy. This is the first phone they sub brand as redmi devices out of mi devices which possibly means they dont have enough money to make it on international market. So they sale it on india and china for now to gain money for the next redmi generation.
I don't give a crap about global version
I have R5+ chinese version and it works perfect with LTE, because in my country we don't use band 20 on the carrier i use
Well...
It's unfortunate, but still you could buy one directly from China or perhaps from other resellers.
This not true. I assume.
Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (aka Redmi K20 Pro) goes on pre-order in Europe
According to GsmArena (https://gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_9t_pro_aka_redmi_k20_pro_goes_on_preorder_in_europe-news-38581.php) and many others, the global release (or European model, at least) is in pre order in online seller Belsimpel (https://www.belsimpel.nl/xiaomi-mi-9t-pro/64gb-blauw).

A few months too late, really strange move from Xiaomi : why didn't they launch it at the same time as the "Mi 9T"?? Plus, rebranding from Redmi to Xiaomi in Europe is a bit strange imho. Do they think we in Europe don't read the worldwide news? Additionally, they won't release the 8/256 version.
Btw, I wonder what will happen to the Mi 9 with a price that close...the real difference is the camera which seems better (to be honest even my Mi 8 takes better pics vs. K20 Pro).
Also I think its a little bit priced.
I'm not sure if I'll buy, long time waiting to be this difference.

You can import it from China (6/64 version) around 315 euros tax free and shipping included, and they're gonna sell it here for 430 euros? It will have a Global ROM for sure, lets see if its the same one as the India ROM (POCO launcher included) or not but still...
Btw i think if Europeans want to wait for a new phone they should wait for the Mi Mix 4. The 3rd was a bit of a flop because specs were too close to the Mi 8 which was great, lighter and cheaper but the Mix 4 specs will be spectacular according to rumors. Wait and see!

Yes but not above 599 euros I think, right? Otherwise Xiaomi will lose this segment to Huawei/ Samsung...

A lot of people doesn't want to import, and also the main problem is the warranty, people prefer to have a local store where they can go if the phone have an issue.
But anyway, for my part I will buy it on Aliexpress soon
If you want to push further the comparison, in the official Xiaomi China store, the 6+128gb is at +-290€
Any idea if we can flash mi 9t pro firmware on K20 pro and keep bootloader locked? Dont think its possible, just wondering.

Xiaomi has already mentioned that if the phone comes with China firmware, it will be locked on China firmware. Only when the bootloader is unlocked it can be flashed to global firmware. This is the same with phones that come with global firmware

Thanks for confirming. Thats a bad policy. As long as the firmware is official, they should allow us to lock bootloader and use find device feature.

You shouldn't be buying phones that weren't meant for your country anyways. Xiaomi wants their chinese phones to be only sold in China and the global variants for outside of China.

As far as I can tell there has been no official launch of the phone, so nothing has been confirmed either way. There was the small announcement last week that it will be available in the Benelux region from the 20th, but it gave no specifics. Since then all we're seeing is the phone suddenly appearing for sale in various European websites. So far there doesn't appear to be any 8GB model being sold anywhere.
Even though the Mi 9 had 8/128 and 8/256 options in China, they were never made available on the global version, so it wouldn't be surprising if it turns out to be the same with this one.
