Snapdragon based phones can't be unlocked/rooted. I believe your only option is the non carrier specific firmware for the phone. If you're trying to network unlock it, Xfinity can supply an unlock code if the phone is paid off.

The phone is unlocked . I remember having a galaxy s9 plus with Verizon then I flashed the U1 Firmware. Is what I wanna do to this phone. I just don't like the Xfinity boot logo. I prefer to have Samsung logo or Verizon logo. I dont like all the Xfinity apps and all. That are installed on the phone

Assuming you are using the correct version of Odin (3.13.1 3B patched), then the main possibility is that you're trying to flash unlocked firmware that has an older bootloader than what you have. It's not possible to do this. You're on ARG8, which is bootloader 3. The latest published unlocked firmware has bootloader 2, so it won't work.
Now if you use the search feature, you'll be able to find U1 firmware which is 3ARG7. You can flash to that, but there is no HOME_CSC, so you will be forced to factory reset. Make a good backup in Smart Switch first! The good news is that you should have done a factory reset when going from U to U1 anyway.
More good news: Normally, when flashing to unlocked firmware, you'd lose Wi-Fi Calling. But this new unreleased unlocked firmware actually has it.
You should be able to uninstall the Xfinity apps. Hopefully Crazy's advice will get you fixed up though.

You might not have flashed the CSC_OMC_OYM and instead used the home_csc (or didn't use one at all)... Home_CSC keeps all your apps and the carrier apps intact, the other does not.
In your case it might be worth trying the U1 firmware instead of the carrier specific firmware. The U1 firmware is from the unlocked galaxy s9+ so it will be the most generically compatible, minus the carrier apps. Flash the CSC_OMC_OYM so that it gets rid of anything that was previously present from Xfinity... I did this process with my Sprint phone and I have the Samsung boot logo (instead of Sprint's) as well as none of the carrier apps.
Though if none of this works and you still see the unwanted boot logo then unless you want too root your device (and your phone is one of the models that can be rooted) what you ask will not be possible.

Hello XDA former go'ers,
I would appreciate a few nods or shakes of the head before I consider proceeding with this...
I have a Galaxy S3 network locked to Three. (with their giant 3 logo appearing when I turn it on being a give away).
Can I just flash the BTU unlocked UK firmware to it via the ODIN software?
I assume you do not need to get the phone network unlocked first. (can do that later)
If anyone has links to the best stock firmware file available right now and the most up to date ODIN that would be appreciated too
Thanks

Hi mate,
Yes you can flash the network branding free rom via odin (very easy to do)
You also don't need to be unlocked to do so... But keep in mind that flashing a non 3 rom wont unlock the phone and you will still have to do so to use on other networks.
If you need any further help with it then drop me a PM and I'll help you all the way.
Thank you, the firmware flashing went without a problem.

Has anyone been able to get WiFi calling or VOLTE to work on the U firmware? I haven't been on it in a while.
Edit: not sure why i quoted you for this question. Lol sorry.
I have been trying to get it working as well. I wish that att would support wifi calling like T-Mobile does I only get 1-2 bars and sometimes no signal when I'm at a certain spot in my workplace and when I had the original att software on my phone I loved wifi calling, I don't particularly miss VOLTE though
Thank you so much for doing this. I was using the wrong Odin to flash.
Quick question on this. Now that I am running the U firmware, will I get OTA updates? I'm using a Cricket sim card.
I hated the AT&T firmware so much. I'm so much happier with this.

Need to flash T-Mobile firmware in order for at least wifi calling to work.
after flashing this firmware.. I noticed a huge gain in performance.
and mobile hotspot works, I run cricket unlimited, and will come in handy.
I like the clean appearance and the smooth responsiveness, I used the AT&T firmware and I used PDP to disable a ****load of bloat, but nothing like this smooth.
not to mention I'm getting updates, which I'm more happy about.
this is really nice to have.
Had anyone tried this and used on rogers?

To begin make sure you have samsung usb drivers installed. Now make sure you use Princecomsys modified odin, next download the latest U Firmware from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634768085 or here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767159704. Next put your phone in download mode and open odin make sure all firmware files are in the right spot and click start wait until your phone boots into recovery mode and restarts, after that to clean up old temp files factory reset in recovery when your phone boots to the welcome screen, after that you are finished. THIS is For att and tmobile phones only unless your verizon phone is using one of the two carriers sprint won't work due to proprietary activation processes. Thanks to Princecomsy and muniz for providing odin and the firmware files for this version

As long as you had att unlock the phone you are fine
I bought it "factory unlocked" so I'm not sure who did it. What would happen if att didn't unlock it?
Please help me understand
I see some forums on this site that says, " G930UUEU2APEH flashes to g930a" then you have this post that says G930U firmware on SM-G930A. It seems as if one is saying to take the G930U and go to G930A and the other saying G930A and go to G930U. I thought the advantage is to go to the U and get off the A. Please confirm if this is the case. Granted then if this is the case... then, what are the advantages of going to the U? From what I understand it gets rid of the bloatware, and makes it so you can tether?
Also once I go, are there any negative reasons for me not to go from A to U?
Does this give me the current version of Nougat?
Do I get the upgrades from AT&T to keep up with future version of Nougat?
Also before proceeding to the U version MUST I first ROOT my phone?
Also MUST my phone be UNLOCKED?
Thanks in advance,
DavyCrockett said:

Yes to both

None, unless you like the ATT bloat.

Gives you the latest version of the U firmware

No, you will get the U OTAs from now on.

Root is not required

Not required

I am happy to report that after flashing the Sprint firmware on my unlocked S9+ it worked with no issues and knox was not tripped. I've noticed that even though the Sprint splashscreen didn't show up at boot, while in setup the phone did detect the exact carrier I was on (Boost Mobile) and the phone showed the Boost Mobile splashscreen upon reboot and all the Boost Mobile apps as well as some bloatware loaded onto the phone as if it were a phone I purchased through them. But one issue I still notice since when I first bought the phone is the fact that the data speeds are slow in my area, but when I had an LG Stylo 3 from Boost in the area now where I see the slow data speeds, the LG didn't have that issue. I thought flashing carrier firmware would fix that problem. When I am in other parts in NYC out from where I live, ex: Manhattan, Brooklyn; I don't see no slow speeds I get true, fast 4G LTE. I guess it's a software issue Samsung can fix in the next update?
Anyone have link for modified Odin just in case I decide to flash iunlocked S9+ firmware back on my phone?
Hey all,
I've done some rooting in the past, so have knowledge but it's limited comparatively to the community. I bought an Unlocked Snapdragon S9+ from Best Buy and the AT&T FirstNet service for first responders only works for AT&T branded devices. I wanted to try and flash an AT&T image on the phone if possible. Is this possible? Can anyone offer some guidance on how to accomplish this?

Yep, you can flash the AT&t firmware onto your unlocked device. You would have to download the firmware and then flash it with Odin, you can check the general section to learn more about this and we here can help you through it.
The other thing I was wondering is that I assume that FirstNet works on the AT&t firmware. Technically your phone will still not be an AT&t phone according to its IMEI number, but firmware-wise it will be just as an AT&t phone after you flash it.

I understand. So get ODIN and the AT&T firmware and just flash? I've done rooting before so familiar with ODIN for the most part, just wasn't sure if I needed a specific firmware version based on having an Unlocked device or not.
And to your wondering thought, FirstNet does work on the AT&T firmware and they WOULD still recognize my phone as an Unlocked device(by IMEI) as per the FirstNet tech support agent I just spoke with. However, I'm hoping that having the firmware would make the device more compatible with the FirstNet service

You just need the latest AT&T firmware that you can find(BRK2 I believe, unless the latest pie firmware has already been posted somewhere), and you will need the patched version of Odin that will allow you to flash a different firmware than your device came with. It seems like AT&t firmwares can be hard to find for some reason but there was this thread which has not been updated I don't think: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ck-official-attoding965usqu3brj5-s9-t3866823. But it looks like that would at least get you over to AT&t firmware and then you could get OTA updates up to current hopefully. You might want to ask in that thread for further instructions on firmware and how to flash everything properly. You would want to use CSC instead of HOME-CSC, to wipe and fully set up the phone, and there is something which I don't know about called USERDATA, which I think might need to be found and flashed also.
I flashed a U1/factory unlocked s9+ with the T-mobile firmware about a week ago. All is well, but today I needed to use a different sim for a few minutes and the phone is locked (!!). I tried using the T-mobile unlock bloatware app, but it fails (says server error). Is this normal?
I like the mobile firmware more, it fixed some issues i was having, but need to figure out why other sims arent working.

Tmobile controls the software updates for the u1 model - the latest 'official' update is from February 2019. So I updated using a verizon sim to get the latest security patches, and it broke some features (mainly wifi calling... which i need in some places i go to on my weekly visits). So long story short, I flashed the official firmware to get the latest updates and so my **** wouldnt be broken anymore.
