I'm on MIUI10 8.9.13 Global beta, and i wish to flash EU ROM..
can someone verify if these are the correct steps in order?
Boot to recovery, wipe cache, dalvik, system, data then flash the eu rom,
Followed by force encryption disabler,magisk
Then reboot system.
And later,
Do i have to dirty flash manually via twrp for every update, or can i do it via miui updater app?
And
Will i face any problem if i restore the missing apps+system data in the eu rom via titanium backup (the backups were made when rom was global beta) or should i restore only missing apps.
Answers are very well appreciated

1. Correct steps. You don't need Magisk as that zip provided by unofficial twrp thread includes it. Use that.
2. Yes, you can update (dirty flash) via twrp with full rom zips.
3. I always restore backup from Titanium backup even when I change roms (Miui/stock/EU roms) and never faced any issue.

as far as I know, the coffec twrp is based on 3.0.0. which is an old twrp. I want to know, is there a twrp with auto miui image patching and all partition backup capability alongside f2fs support based on latest twrp 3.0.2-2??? if so, please provide a link. sorry for mh bad English
Only way is to use the Alka TWRP first, backup all partitions. Then flash F2FS TWRP for converting into F2FS filesystem.
Then return to Alka TWRP to restore your backup of all partitions.
You must have a PC(with all drivers installed) which is available to you whenever needed to flash the recoveries using fastboot command.

Yes, it gives some sort tarfork error in firmware partition as the firmware partition is read only.
You should uncheck the firmware partition while restoring.
Example: Assume that you have taken a backup of MIUI 8 Global stable (yes, all partition backup). After backup, you went to CM13 or any custom ROM and assume that you flashed the CM 13 radios/firmware zip. Now you want to go back to MIUI and you restored it. Now you will face issues in MIUI like no sound in calls where neither you nor the person on the other side will be able to hear any sound.
The above issues are caused due to firmware. MIUI's firmware and CM's firmware are not the same.
If you want to revert from CM or any custom ROM to MIUI, you must use MiFlash (EDL).

Thanks!! So a safe way to revert from CM to MIUI would be to:
- restore partitions, and assuming firmware gives error
- flash via EDL over this
Maybe i could directly flash through EDL..will that work? will the radios/modem get overwritten by the MIUI radios/modem?

Yes, the radios/modem will get over-written.
No need to restore partitions. All the partitions will get flashed by the MiFlash.
I almost backup only the Boot, Data, Cache and System partitions leaving others.
If you want your Internal SD card, select Flash all except data and storage option at the bottom.
Enjoy with your device!:good::good:
I am using MIUI 8.0.1.0 and maybe someday I will try CM13/14. About twrp, what is the recommended twrp for our phone ?

I am currently on miui 9.2.1 and i want to flash recovery and root my device.
So,i don't want to break miui ota updates and saw videos about redwolf recovery on youtube and my question is which rom file of miui should i flash on my phone
I have already miui 9.2.1 zip file which i used for flashing my phone via mi flash tool can i use that or any other zip?
And before flashing that zip should i clean data, dalvik, cache
Or should i directly flash that zip file
Before you flash MIUI, you will first need to install Redwolf Recovery. The version of MIUI can be your current one or the latest one.
Install Redwolf Recovery
Boot to Recovery
To enable MIUI OTA Support, click Advanced->Special Actions
Scroll to the bottom and check off "Include system in OTA survival", "Aggressive stock recovery deactivation", and "Support MIUI Incremental OTA"
Clear Dalvik/Cache, Cache (no need to clear data, unless you want to start fresh)
Install MIUI, and reboot (no need to flash lazyflash zip file as Redwolf does it automatically after any install)
Your device now supports OTA. Note that whenever you install OTA, it may seem like it takes forever or it's frozen. Don't worry, just leave it. (May take up to 10 mins)

You can use the current version of MIUI which you already have, or downloaded an updated version of the Stable or Developer MIUI to flash over.

Okay bro
Thank you so much for your quick replies
hello,
so I was just wondering is it safe to flash MIUI 10 global rom with twrp? I know that it will probably replace the twrp with stock recovery, but it is easily fixed. I had to restore old backup and right now I'm on MIUI beta rom but with beta roms being shut down starting from 1st july, I just want to convert to the latest MIUI global rom which is avilable here on thier offical site and it is called Version: V10.3.4.0.PEJMIXM (MIUI10)
so again my question:
1. is it safe to flash this rom with TWRP?
2. will i need fastboot zip file if I choose to flash with TWRP?
3. or can I just download the normal zip and flash it through local update feature? please take note that twrp is installed on my phone
so that's all.. thanks for your time:good:

No,I recommend downloading the full (recovery) rom and flashing it in twrp, and then flashing the 'Disable Force Encryption' zip and later magisk if needed.., wipe dalvik cache & reboot
This way you don't lose twrp or anything else on your phone

Of course it does..
I'm talking about the full rom also called as recovery rom (Example :-
https://en.miui.com/getrom-355.html?m=yes&mobile=2
Visit this link to see the latest miui stable & beta ROMs for Poco f1, both of them are full ROMs aka recovery ROMs of the latest miui for Poco f1
1) I assume you have already unlocked bootloader etc..
First you have to have the essential files i.e the rom zip file you want to install, disable Force Encryption zip file, Magisk zip file (All files links will be available in the main Poco f1 thread)
2) Next you boot into twrp (Power + volume up button)
Next select install, navigate to the downloaded rom zip file and swipe to flash (DONT reboot after flash, click back)
3) Now again select install & now flash the disable Force Encryption zip file (This is very important & should be done during every rom flashing)
4) Next go back & flash Magisk for root
5) Wipe dalvik cache and reboot

Did you flash stable rom ?
And did you erase the data or internal storage?
I am on beta as well and have unlocked bootloader and twrp & magisk installed with Force encryption Disabled.
I want to switch to 10.3.5.0 Stable ROM.
But I don't know whether to erase Data partition or not.

1) Use migrate app from play store to take a backup of current phone app data, the backup is stored in a flashable zip format
2) Next boot to twrp, choose wipe and select davlik, cache, system, data later follow my steps in my previous comment to flash new rom
3) Set up phone etc, Make sure Magisk is installed properly
4) Next boot into twrp & flash the migrate zip file located in migrate folder, reboot after flashing, you will get a notification about migrate backup once rebooted, open it and restore everything or select choose to restore for selective restore of data
FIRST OF ALL BACK UP FILES, PHOTOS, CONTACTS ETC

Hi so recently today I was able to successfully flash my stock ROM from Global 11.0.3 to Europe 11.2 (20.3.5).
All works, I have a new and version specific TWRP recovery which solves the decryption issue and such.
Only problem though is I can't seem to update my ROM from the latest Europe 11.2 (20.3.12). I am aware that we cannot install OTA updates like we normally would because we are on a custom recovery. I tried flashing it from the 'choose update package' where it brought me to the TWRP and executed OpenScript to flash, and also tried flashing from TWRP itself. No luck. Bootloop into Redmi Logo and TWRP recovery, so I end up restoring the working Eu version.
An updated tutorial on how to install OTA roms on custom recoveries would really be appreciated, thanks!
Hey OP, could you make a How to install GSI guide?... I'm really interested on doing that.

you have to flash https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1.zip and then update the OTA..dont forget that we normally use a custom rom with TWRP, no point of having twrp with stock rom??? try xiaomi.eu , its way better and you dont have any problems with updates.

reboot to recovery
flash recommended firmware

Hello, you are lost mate...
You use Xiaomi.eu ROM, it's a custom MIUI ROM (Not Official ROM).
You can install updates given by Updater app (System app) without issue on this ROM.
If your phone bootloop just after a ROM update, and not after flashing Magisk, it can be because of a bad encryption from "bad" TWRP (so you need to "Format Data" in new TWRP <-- installed by xiaomi.eu ROM)
-OR-
Did you use my K20 to Mi 9T conversion patch (from xiaomi.eu forum)?
Check for update with Updater app, download and install it. That's simple on xiaomi.eu ROMs.
Trying to install evolution X on my Mi 9T but whenever I flash TWRP the phone won't boot to it, just keeps loading the fastboot screen. Anyone have any ideas where I'm going wrong? I've reflashed stock with miflash for now to get it working.

I have the same problem, but I can't find a solution. Did you find it ?
I found the solution with explication on how to install havoc_OS
after format data you have to reboot to recovery, flash firmware +rom+gapps...without firmware it wont boot on some roms..read well OP instructions, mine are only for xiaomi.eu, you dont need to flash firmware and it will boot fine.
Hello
I am using MIUI global 11.0.8 stock rom. Recently just unlocked the bootloader and trying to figure out how to flash LineageOS in it.
Tried to followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/xiaomi-poco-f1-unlock-bootloader-custom-t3839405
But it seems like it is pretty old and not updated. Should i follow this thread or there is something updated? Also feels like i'm missing various things like disabling encryption(!), needs to be on old stock rom for proper installation, customized TWRP recovery and specific Xiaomi programs to do it properly. Could someone identify the missing info/issues i'm having trouble with? TIA.

FIRST OF ALL BACKUP YOUR DATA. Go to fastboot mode and flash latest twrp recovery. Boot to recovery and wipe cache, system and data. Since this is the first time you are installing a custom rom you should format data in twrp. After formatting data reboot to twrp then transfer latest Lineage OS flashable zip in you phone's storage and flash it. Then flash gapps if you want. Then magisk if you want root and DFE if you don't want encryption. That's it. Now reboot to system.
And remember google is your friend.
