how to acces poco ir camera - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hello, this is just a near trick I discovered.
Apparently you can access poco f1 ir camera through miui hidden settings app( you can find it in play store)
It's an black and white sensor and ir also lights up.
To do so you gotta install miui hidden settings app then select QMMI and choose 29. Camera front.
The photo(screenshot) is taken in pitch black darkness.

Trying thanks a lot

Very cool!
Try: Hardware test > 53
Gives you a different interface with the same ir sensor and better scaling

Now we just need a firmware update to actually be able to utilise this properly....

That way. If we go to the gallery right after capturing the photo we can even access the file without have to take a screenshot.
This seems to be a really low quality 0.3 MP camera, but nonetheless it's funny to take photos outside with an IR camera.

can we change led notification colour on poco with miui hidden settings app??

it works on my device samsung A8 2018 Indonesia, or mybe you can try another version:
B-S-G's Modded Google Camera 5.1.014 with HDR+ for Android 7.0 / ARM64 v1.5f All-in-One Full
this version also works for my device, but I love the earlier version's result on HDr+ (B-S-G's Modded Google Camera 4.4.020 with HDR+ for Android 7.0 / ARM64 v3.8c All-in-One Full Manual), the picture result is better than my samsung A8 stock camera apps, especially it can get more detail in direct sunlight or low light with larger amount of file size

Thank you for your partecipation!!
I've done exactly as you said and I did various test.
With that version you can take a photo with hdr+ selected but it won't be a real hdr+ photo because it doesn't process the 3 photo like in supported phones. It takes a normal photo, a good photo, but not an hdr one because in the settings menu the hdr is disabled.
I've tried really a lot of the Google camera ports and not a single one can take an hdr photo.
The ones that try to take a real hdr photo crash, the ones that have some option that disable the her processing don't (even if it's selected into the camera option).
I really hope that with the Oreo update Samsung will activate the camera 2 api to a "level 3" settings because I don't want to root or unlock the boot loader to force the api activation.
I wish there's some programmer which could make an app to click pics in portrait mode from this phone, Please this phone just lacks that one thing.
hi, i need to ask you a question, a friend have galaxy A8 but can't record 4k videos, with Open Camera (with cameraApi2? it's possible to do it?
FInally I can make portrait photos by using gcam version 8 by mini user
in setting just disable all front cam Hdr+ & portrait mode coz it isn't working on my front cam (hang & push to restart), only working for rear one
in setting also enable fix black level offset (to prevent your portrait photos become red or pink)
below are the link,

for the sample please look at this link (portrait mode),

I can record 4k (30fps) video with cinema 4k (I downloaded it at play store)
the result you cant play by using samsung video player so you need to download MX player
cinema 4k also doesn't provide to storage your video on sd card,,,,
I ve tried open camera & enable camera 2 APi, but the video resulution is only full HD (1080p)
perhaps this app also work for your A8 2018
With the last minuser version of the port, 8.2, I can too do real hdr+ photos. It elaborates the image after I take It, file dimension is big around 7 mb and quality is good, a lot better than the default camera for the rear cam.
If you disable the front camera hdr fix it disable the hdr in the rear camera too.
I think I'll stick with this version because it's the only one that has real hdr+ working.
the latest version 8.2 of @miniuser123 works fine, but you have to deactivate the flash, otherwise the app crashes and the phone restarts. From the settings you only have to activate fix black level offset to prevent the portrait photos are with a lilac patina. The hdr setting for the front camera leaves it unchanged, otherwise it also acts on the rear camera. So much for the selfie is great for the Samsung app, considering that the Galaxy A8 has 2 front cameras.
With the 8.2 the difference between the stock camera and the gcam is enormous.
It seems as if Samsung limited the quality of the post processing so this phone, even with a good (and advertised 16mb 1.7) rear camera, couldn't even go near the s8 in photo quality. I've compared a lot of photos I took simultaneously with my a8 and the s8+ of a friend of mine.
With the stock camera the s8 wins hands down. If you compare the a8 pics taken with a working hdr+ gcam the gap is a lot smaller. They come close, but the s8 has always the lead.
Anyone has a portrait mode working on rear camera?
Thx

Hopefully some developer make mod for stock camera make it real 16mp result back overall phone is good the real disappointment for me is the rear camera specially in night or low light too blurry to shake
Did anyone managed to get raw file support working with some of these versions ?

So True! The Phone is fantastic but with stock rear camera settings could be better! Fortunately miniuser and his gcamera port fixed it.
He released an 8.3 beta version. Stable on our phone as the 8.2.
does anyone knows how to make the front cam working? pressing the shutter button didn't do a thing.

You need to disable the "hdr+ front camera" setting. But then you won't have hdr+ on the rear camera anymore!

Can confirm that the Arnova8G2 based mods are working on my new Nokia 7 plus.
Yesterday a new version (GoogleCamera-Pixel3Mod) was released, with some UI and speed improvements (at higher HDR+ parameter) I noted.
XDA link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76235335&postcount=3541
The Nokia camera app doesn't come even close to the results of the gcam mods.
I noticed often a very high exposure in daylight and much more noisier in low light (agressive ISO ramp up) settings.

Like the Nokia Camera I can only choose between different resolutions of 4K, 1080p, 720p but not the framerate.
I didn't find any setting in the dev options either. Maybe there is a tweak within the gcam mod I'm not aware of, to change the framerate (chipset should support this) but the testvideo I recorded is at 30FPS.

@RolloBollo, Would you mind if you could make some shots at night or in evening, so that we can clearly see the differences between the GCam and Nokia Camera Pro at low light condition?
Is there any reason to believe that the Pixel camera app apk would also bring 4k video stabilization to the table on the Nokia 7 plus in a usefull way? This phones seems to tick every box except that one...
I`ve seen a video of stabilization via the pixel app done on the Xiaomi A1, but the results were merely meh. The nokia however has a more capable snapdragon 660.

Can do, first set is 30min before, 2nd set 25 min after and 3rd set 40min after sunset with slight light from apartment above.
All shots were made free hand in auto mode with HDR forced.
The nokia cam tends to be more inconsistent over follow up shots, the best out of 3 shots were choosen.
Lighting to the real thing is always closest on gcam, but both are overexposing in low light settings, bringing in more light than in reality was.
Can we directly install gcam APK in Nokia 7 plus or we have to enable camera2api to get access of it if so how to enable camera2api

I got the same error using the link directly from Google Drive. I downloaded the apk via browser and I installed it just fine.
The Pixel2mod and the Pixel3mod version gave me strange color artefacts in every picture(but not in de live viewfinder). The previous version, named GCam, works however just fine.

Google Camera 5.1.0.18 with working video and portrait mode

After trying many Google Camera APKs and configurations I finally found one that's stable and has working video. Keep in mind that I only tested it on AEX 5.8 Oreo
Tutorial:
1. Download & install MGCamera_5.1.0.18_R4X_v.5.1.19-fu24_1.3.apk - you can find it on celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera
2. Go to settings > Developer Settings and enable camcorder.h265. This fixes video.
3. Go to settings > Advanced settings > Main camera and change Base model to Pixel XL. This fixes long capture times (at least for me)
4. Go to settings > Advanced settings > Experimental settings and set Resampling to Enabled (This increases photo quality) and Use Hexagon DSP to Yes (This increases stability)
5. [FOR GOOGLE PHOTOS USERS] Go to settings > Advanced settings > Photo view setting and tick Use Google Photo
6. [If your front camera takes greenish photots only] Go to settings > Advanced settings > Front-camera > Manual fixed black level offset > set to 14.00
6. Restart app completely.
Enjoy!

But it's not fully function does it?
As i choose portrait or video mode on the back camera the app crashes. I must choose the front camera first and through there i must turn it arround to the back camera avoiding the crash.
In all version that i've tried i also noticed there's no burst mode. I must take a picture at the time and wait for that to finish processing HDR+ :'(
Video 60fps is working on both front/rear camera without a problem but like i said if you want to use video on rear camera you must shortcut it through front camera first or the app will crash.
Other thing: if you want to use HDR+ on front camera you must choose portrait anyways or you'll not getting HDR+ effect (it saves 2 photos so you must choose the non-portrait one).
Do you know if here's no way on that version to disable zoom on portrait?

Yeah, front HDR+ not working in normal mode, only portrait mode.
I've tested a lot of Gcam versions and there is one where I need to open front camera first then I can use rear.
Well, I think the different version of ROM has a different effect on the Gcam, as well as Kernel.

Working GCAM for Snapdragon w/ Telephoto!

UPDATE: I haven't really followed this thread since I don't have an S10 anymore, however, just a heads up telephoto now works with the Snapdragon S10/Note 10 series and Gcam! Gcam can be downloaded in my S20 thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gcam-working-with-s20-ultra-telephoto.4200277/
Now with Wide Angle and Telephoto Camera Support!
All credits go to Arnova8G2, CStark, Fizwiz, Xenius9, Urnyx05
Benefits:
Gcam offers less aggressive noise reduction and oversharpening. Under daylight things might not look too different but it's a lot better for low light, especially for finer details like carpets, hair, fabric texture. I've attached some comparison shots. The file names will indicate which camera was used for the pictures.
Regarding 6.1 vs 6.2 vs 7.0 vs 7.2:
6.1 could be more stable and allows you to save profiles that you can swap between (for instance if you have a setting for indoor and outdoor). However 6.2 is faster, possibly better processing algorithms. 7.0 is faster still and even better algorithms. 7.0+ also ads astrophotography option which is night sight but even better! 7.2 works on Android 10 only and should improve upon 7.0.

- Portrait mode
- Wide angle camera (toggle button at the bottom left)
GCAM 7.0.009 Base
Download Xenius9's GCam_4.0.191101.0729build-7.0.009_x9_s9s_mod_0.43.apk here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12qfHQ-oq4vrHCWFkNaP6lNHMoDB31SNy

Did you guys apply the XML file after copying it to where it needs to go? Detailed instructions here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/settings09/
Followed the instructions and it seems to be working fine so far on my S10, although I haven't done extensive testing.
How do you switch between apertures? It doesn't seem obvious to me.
Any reason this wouldn't also work on a Snapdragon S10+? Thinking about giving it a try now...
---------- Post added at 11:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 AM ----------
Installed and verified basic functionality on my S10+. Took a couple of night sight pictures and they turned out good. Will do some more testing. Thanks for the information.
Update: I'm seeing issues when switching between different modes. For example, the picture freezes whenever I go into portrait mode. Other modes work sometimes, but display a black screen other times. The app doesn't freeze or crash, and if I switch to another mode then switch back, sometimes that resolves it.

To fix portrait mode freezing, go to Settings (top section, mod settings) -> Advanced -> FIX -> Viewfinder Format. Then select YUV-420_888 (default).
Very good. The viewfinder fix seems to have worked for portrait mode, and helped with all other modes as well.
Any other settings changes you would recommend making to optimize performance?
Which photo is from the stock cam vs gcam?
I took a few pics just now outside with default camera and then with Google night sight. Google cam pics definitely a little brighter, and much clearer, with more detail than the default cam. Quite pleased.
Got it to work thank you. Had to restart my phone, now everything works.
Snapdragon?
Yes i have the s10+ with snap

Night sight is phenomenal. To the point where I use it almost exclusively even in daylight on my Pixel 3. Can;t wait for S10 with gcam port.
How is the shutter delay using the gcam port on the S10? On LGs where I have used gcam, the ZSL would not work and that was the only downside.
When i took picture with night sight.my phone restart it sekf.
I envy you guys. I have got the exynos version and stock cam quality is ****. Miss my pixel 3.

I will check the shutter delay today when I have time. I've only used it for night shots as of now since that was the primary advantage it has over the samsung cam software. I know as of right now, this version doesn't support the wide angle lens, which means it's necessary to keep both sets of software. HOwever, I read in another thread (here or on reddit) that there is now a gcam version that works with JUST the wide angle lens. So hopefully they can combine these and give us a fully working port in the near future.
thanks i will try soon.
On the snap my stock cam sucks also. This google cam and open camera destroy it

[PORT] Pixel 4 Camera working!

Install APK normally....enjoy!:highfive:
Is there any improvements in the image quality or any new feature?
That's not entirely true.
Installed 7.0
2 things not working on Pixel 2 XL on Android 10 that I found are;
No options for nightsight infinity etc.
No recordings made when you hold camera button to take video.
Other than that all seems stable.

Same here except that not only does no video get saved when holding down the camera button to record, but in my case, somewhere between 3-5 seconds it crashes every time.

If you put the pictures setting to HDR+ it won't crash but again it won't record video from the camera app. Any other settings it crashes
Crashing when tap focus and try to change exposure
I installed this version and didn't knew it would replace the normal pixel 2 xl gcam.
How do I revert this? And install the stock pixel 2 xl version again?
Thanks

Gcam sees it as a actual update. Go to the play store, search Google camera and uninstall. Afterwards, you'll notice there's a update. Update the camera you're good to go.
also it makes the resolution to 8mp for main cam and 4mp for front cam.

Thank you!
I previously had a Xiaomi and was able to have many GCam versions in the same phone, so I was confused.

Oh ok i didn't see that. I just saw the max resolution setting and though it is restricting it to 8mp
---------- Post added at 05:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 AM ----------
Just tried with full res. looks like a definite improvement. The ISO levels for night sight is less than that on 6.3 ver. Hopefully we will get a dedicated updated more polished one when pixel 4xl releases

I believe all 16:9 defaults to a lower resolution so it's not a bug it seems.
