I've got an app which checks geo IP and if it matches a certain pattern, it gives permission to use the service.
It's basically a TV viewing app, whereof only the users of X ISP, are allowed to use the content (TVs, VOD, etc). Using my WiFi (service from the same ISP) I'm able to view the content. However, when I switch to mobile data, I can't.
I've used jadx-gui and successfully decompiled, deobfuscated the app and found some strings like 'GEOIP_ERROR' and such string-calling conditions. Also, I used apktool to decompile it, in *.smali files.
I'm having difficulties finding which method, or function is triggering GEOIP_ERROR, therefore I'd ask if anyone who has experience with decompiling apps, could give me some help steps?

I found a lot of Tutorials "How editing anroidmanifest.xml", but no one works with the messenger App WhatsAPP. Is it impossible?
I wanna change the user permissions because I think such many permissions aren't necessary.

you are just breaking the business logic of your application editing the manifest file.
the permissions grant a certain level of access to a particular set of API to the app that is requesting them, if you deny this access your app will probably generate an undefined behaviour depending on how it's written.
If you don't like the set of permissions just do not install that app, there is no point to modify just the manifest.

i got a little problem:
I got a Loxon (loxone.com) home automation system.
In there, there's a function to open app from URLs, as far as i understood it works through the intent service, for example i tested with success the yatse xbmc remote.
I launched the app through yatse:// as defined on the yatse developers web page.
So and now my problem:
as far as i understand the apps developer needs to define a custom intent sheeme in the apps manifest.xml
But there aren't many app developers using the custom intents, so i want to add the feature by myself.
I read about it on many websites but never got it to work. i don't need actions defined, such as open sms app and preinsert the number, just open the apps, for example squeezeplayer:// for the squeeze box apk.
Could anyone please give me a before-after example for an app? That would be awesome.
I know about decompiling apks, editing the manifest so no need for an detailed step-by step.
I know about a negative side effect after editing the manifest if an app update is installed the changes go away, but thats sometihing i can live with. (set aut update off):silly:

I'm new to android, and having 2 different phones (running 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 versions, both rooted) and numbers I have quite some issues with apps (paying gps outdoor app, whatsapp,...) and since I travel a lot many connections issues to accounts on other apps "you seem to not be...." with codes I don't get because I'm roaming
In order to find a way to use them with the same accounts and settings on both phones and to solve the authentication issues, I took different angles to solve it, but none worked. In doing so I discovered many ways to enforce permissions through the code that where disabled by the user (worse than I thought). Well I dislike and want to change it.
Anyway to make things shortne approach is to completely limit the app access all localisation approach, phone ID, number, carrier, IP number, other accounts on the phone....
On the 5.1.1 I tried:
App Ops => allows to "change" if one looks in the App, but changes are not effective (way apps work and according to "Explorateur de permissions")
Apk permissions works but only on some user installed apps, I tried moving system apk to other folders, change them through the Apk permissions and reinstall them, didn't work
Decompiling the apk with Apk Studio, changing manifest, recompiling, reinstalling seems to not be enough, if I understood it right if the code contains specific rights and there not in the manifest, it doesn't work. Right
next step would be to dig into the code and change it...
All this is extremely time consuming even if it would be the "clean way"
On the 6.0.1 :
I removed the bloatware with Root Uninstaller,
Modified the permissions apps had, incl system apps
And since some apps still seemed to exchange some information over data or wifi, I limited all background data usage over data or wifi.
All this make my phone much less user friendly and does not solve my issues
So please, I you know of a reliable "easy" way to really manage permissions, or to generate a master permission file that overwrites apps permissions? removing all weird "granted", or if you have any idea on how you'd start it, please let me know
From this "clean approach" I got to spoofing, which seemed to be a solution to work around some issues using several different apps that would change the location, the IP, the network, VPN, spoof caller ID, ...
Well... since I had discovered all kind of right that can be given to an app, I checked their manifests before installing them. They might solve some issues, but generate worse problems (billing?!!all social media accounts?! create social accounts?!?)
So is there a clean app that lets you temporarily "clone" phone1 on phone 2 considering they are not at all the same (manufacturer, android, phoneID, carrier, phone number) and change the location and this only to some apps? Still have to use SIM carrier.
If not, any hints on how to write this?

Hey guys, I've been seeking an alternate of Network Log (you can find it on Google Play Store) for quite a while but with no luck, so come out to ask if anyone knows one suitable for me .
I have to say Network Log is almost worthy for purchasing (although it is not a paid app), considering the job it's done in categorizing by protocols, by apps, displaying packets by size and time, graphing as a timeline, and that made it an excellent choice for analyzing apps consuming data and draining battery, but unfortunately the app owner doesn't respond to bug summit or emails.
The thing is, Network Log no longer works after Android 6.0, while others in the market relies on system-built-in VPN function to capture data, which is not suitbale for people like me in China using proxies to reach out to world .
So if anyone knows apps that can capture packets (not necessarily able to decrypt contents) and display by apps, just to make it easy to let me see the amounts and frequency Android apps uses the Internet, I‘ll be thankful that you recommend them to me (again it cannot be using Android VPN function since Shadowsocks is already using VPN, so I think the app maybe require root permission but I'm OK)

This question will be long because I am providing a lot of detail, so this question is as clear as possible.
Brief introduction.
I have created an app that runs on Android devices, this app allows you to share files between devices that are connected to the same WI-FI network. but with a different methodology to that used by apps that are intended to fulfill this same purpose.
On the device where my app is running (which we will named device one), a url similar to http://192.168.1.102:7898 is generated, and said url must be entered in a web browser installed on the device with which you want to share the files (which we will named device two).
The main purpose is to offer a way to share files between devices, using WI-FI. without the need for device two, my app has to be installed.

So far everything works fine. But, it is annoying that every time someone wants to share files using my app, on device two, they have to enter the url described above. keeping in mind that said url will change as the WI-FI router decides, and therefore, you should not use shortcuts to the url (bookmarks or navigation history).
Having said all this, the following question arises.
Is there a way to get device two to access that url without having to type it manually by the user?
To accomplish this, three ideas occurred to me.
1: Generate a QR code in the app. but this requires that on device two, an additional app is installed that can read QR codes. which violates my purpose.
2: Implement in the app, a mechanism that allows you to find other devices that my app is working on, and in this way, interact with those devices (through my app, similar to how other file transfer apps do). This is a good idea, but it nevertheless requires that my app be installed on both devices.
3: My third idea and the one I would like to implement is the following:
On device one, it will open my app and then activate it.
When the app is activated, the app will search for other devices that are connected to the same WI-FI network, until it finds device two.
If successful, a SOMEWHAT will be sent programmatically to the device two, that SOMEWHAT can be, a message, a bit, a data packet, or anything else that helps to realize this idea .
After device two receives that SOMEWHAT, it will show a notification or a pop-up window, which will allow access to the url generated in my app (on device one).
Consider two things. 1: Additional app MUST NOT be installed on device two. and 2: Because device two can be running any operating system, the SOMEWHAT will be a different mechanism for each operating system, (operating systems can be, Android, IOS, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Phone, Windows, Linux, Mac, among others).
If for example, device two, runs Android 10 (not rooted), and has the most common applications installed, which can be: WhatsApp, Facebook Messeinger, Google Play Services, other Google apps, and system applications.
My thought is that you should be able to use one of those apps, to receive the url, and after clicking on that url, the web browser will open, and then it will load the corresponding webpage (which in this case, is to access the files shared by device one, through my app).
Any idea?
You can give me your opinion, or you can just tell me that this can't be accomplished.
