Hey how can you backup the factory rom before rooting or flashing?
We can't yet, I've read that clock works is working on a recovery.

Its available around here somewhere so there's no need to be worried about backing up the stock 2.2. You just need to make sure you can use Odin if you want to go back to stock.
k so say im running clean rom 2.0 i do a backup and i flash say mean rom and i use it for about a week or so.. then i want to go back to my clean rom i backed up a week ago... is it ok to just restore that backup?? or should i flash it all over again.. i thiught backups were for in case something went wrong when i was flashing.. so i can go back to it?? is it ok to use a backup rom from a while ago???
Yeap restore back ups its fine unless you use another recovery style

in theory if it's the same BASE rom you should be able to just wipe dalvik and cache and restore but as always, to make sure, I recommend doing a full wipe, i've always come across some sort of problem when not completely wiping...
What they said ^
Also, do a titanium backup first, then after restoring the nandroid, restore your user apps + data so all your installed applications are up to date, but leave system apps and data as is.

Hi,
I rooted my S2 and got a backup of my Stock Rom. Then I installed Omega Rom. Now I want to go back to my stock Rom. Can I just go in CWM and restore back to my stock rom? Or do I need to unroot the phone and then restore? Or do I need to unroot after restore? Or is the phone automatically unrooted after restoring backup?

Of course you can restore it from CWM, that's what the backup is for.
You've made the backup with a rooted kernel, so it's obvious your phone will still be rooted after the restoring, with the kernel you had on that moment.

Yes, if you want to. There are enough guides here, just search on xda for them. They're not hard to find.
Hello,
Earlier today I was running CleanROM 5.6 and decided I wanted to try SynergyROM r484. I used TWRP v2.2.0 to backup my CleanROM5.6, and then I wiped and restored everything I needed too and flashed SynergyROM. I forgot to export my contacts from my old ROM as I had some new numbers added, but when I tried restoring back to CleanROM5.6...half way TWRP just restarted. I restored back to SynergyROM r484 and it worked fine, but my CleanROM 5.6 backup seems to be buggy.
It's not really a big deal lol, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to fix this? Should I perhaps consider updating my current version of TWRP? It's been a big buggy, not allowing me to Format Data and I have to uncheck force md5 check(otherwise nothing will flash and I only get them from reputable devs, etc).
Thanks for reading,
Zealex.

More information dude.
Anyways, don't restore data when restoring a stock ROM. Use helium for apps, and nandroid for system.
Smack that Thanks button if I helped!
KitKat came in on my OmniROM, running on my Note 2.

P.S. Time for school, not much time for XDA
