annoying data roaming popup - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Since h932 has root now. Does anyone know how to get rid of the data roaming pop-up window. I've searched around and can't find a solution.
Thanks
RC

Ok i've done more searching around and found that an older xposed modules "g2/g3/g4 tweakbox" had the option to disable roaming notification/popup. but those are long dead modules. So there has to be a way to manually disable it, guess i'm the only one in need of this. I'm just not that knowledgeable to snoop around the framework or files. And don't want to brick my phone hahaha.. Any help will be great. oh well on to more searching.

[Q] Enable Data Roaming without using the Settings menu?

I use my phone daily in a non-Verizon network, so having Data Roaming enabled is very important for me. The new ROM I installed, however, does not have a menu option for enabling/disabling Data Roaming.
Does anyone know of a way to do this through script? Or maybe there is something that can be changed in "build.prop" (or another file) that would change the default setting of Data Roaming disabled to be enabled?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.vuvuzela.roamcontrol&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS52dXZ1emVsYS5yb2FtY29udHJvbCJd
Thank you, but that isn't quite what I'm looking for. It looks like it could possibly work, but I I'm looking for a way to permanently turn the Data Roaming on. I don't care if I need to edit the ROM files before I flash them or if there is some sort of hack I can install/perform after the ROM is running.
Maybe there is a way to install the AOSP or stock version of the component that controls this? Does anyone know what component controls the data roaming?
hmm i dont know how could you achieve this....its a bit more advanced
Still looking for the magic bullet
I'm very interested in this as well.
Does anybody know if the Roam Control app is able to keep Data roaming on at all times? I have not been able to find a trial version to try it out...
Or is there any other way of keeping it on? For a Motorola Droid 3.
I have tried modifying build.prop with many different settings that I have found in other threads but nothing has worked so far. I need to re-enable data roaming manually maybe 20 times a day.
Thanks!
Nobody?
I sent a mail to the author of Roam Control asking if his app is able to do this but still no answer
I finally took the problem in my own hands and managed to make a small app that re-enables data roaming at the touch of a button.
I needs to be installed as a system app for it to work, but it works!
You can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2165364

I want to permanently enable data roaming but several Google searches have led me to only this thread. I have just downloaded Roaming Control and will tinker with it to see if it solves the issue of the constant nagging data roaming warnings.
I am confused. In my Jellybean settings there's a selection field titled "Show roaming reminder". Even though I have set it to "Never" it still gives a data roaming warning every single time. Either I am misinterpreting the use of that selection field or it's flat out broken or disabled by the carrier.

[Q] Custom rom settings; EDVO Only, Any Wifi, ect...

First off hello I'm new to this forum but a friend suggested I came here for some answers to my questions.
I've successfully compiled (and am currently running) a version of CyanogenMod
I've edited a good number of roms both on my HTC and LG so I have a decent knowledge of the file system
I have Eclipse set up and have been messing around with that a bit. Now that I have that done I want to get into editing the settings (I've taken a few courses with computer programming but never java so editing the Zip would be easier but with more guidance so would editing the source)
Now for the questions
1) Is there a way to make it so that it is EDVO only? without going through the service menu?
I'm going to be using SIP only so I have no need for calls or texts and 1x is never enough to hold a good conversion for me so I'd rather EDVO only
2) I know there are apps like Wefi that allow you to connect to any wireless network but I was hoping there was a way to do this at the source? I was figuring I could bypass the check if its a remembered wifi or not this way theres no need for another program to running.
I've been looking through the wifi settings on eclipse but don't really know what to look for.
3) If the EDVO is a possibility is there a way to change the signal bars to not reflect 1x anymore and simply show no service when that is the option? I figured a theme would be the best way for this but was checking if there was an easier way.
4) I'd also like to set it up so that if theres a wifi connection it will turn off the radio and if the wifi connection is lost it will turn the radio back on. so basically Wifi OR EDVO since I don't need both for sip calls.
This can be done with tasker so it's not as important as the other ones but it would still be nice if it was a built in feature.
I've been doing a lot of googling and these are the answers I couldn't find. I'm only lookin for points in the right direction I'm trying to take this as a learning experience but really haven't got much of an idea on where to start other then theming the singal bars. The first two are the ones I would really like to accomplish first.

WiFi Notification Issues

Long-time lurker, first post. I've been looking for an answer to this one since Friday.
I got my Verizon Galaxy S3 on Friday and was immediately irritated by the ongoing WiFi notification. Monday rolled around and I rooted and disabled the notification per the instructions posted to Droid-Life, awesome.
I've come across another irritating pop-up notification that I cannot seem to disable. The message says that a known WiFi network is available and asks if I want to connect. It gives me the options OK, Connect always, Not now Remind me later. It happens only when I'm near an AP that I've connected to before. I have all notifications I can find disabled for WiFi. What I really want to know is, how the heck is it checking available WiFi networks if WiFi is OFF?
If this has been answered before, please point me in the right direction and I'll see myself out.
I can't seem to post screen shots yet, not enough posts. I'll see if I can get moving haha.

How unfortunate we need Root. So there is definitely no way to get rid of this with an app, without rooting? Even a paid app?
Is there any danger with root and updates? I mean if we undo the root, then we update, right? Then we re-apply root? Will the phone look exactly the same with root if we un root? I have Verizon. I read something about this "triangle counter" or whatnot. To get root do we currently have to flash an entire rom or is there an easy trick like most phones? Sorry I've not rooted before. If someone just points me in the right direction even I'll read up on it. Thank you.

[Q] HELP. Wifi Problem!

I have a rooted Evo 3D running ICS 4.0.3 with Sense. Blah blah blah.
Anyway, I depend on Wifi a lot cause I dont use data. Its absolutely no problem when Im at home.
But when I go to school, the Wifi is almost useless. But its weird, because I can get on the Play Store, and download apps, but that's it. How much sense does that make? Sometimes I'll receive Google Voice messages, or email alerts, but I cant send a Google Voice message, browse the internet, open an email, or play those games I downloaded with friends. I have no idea what this could be.
Before the Evo 3D, I had the OG Droid, which did everything just fine. Which makes me wonder even more why this happens.
Anyway, Thanks in advance!
Which rom are you running? Have you tried to flash another kernel? Have you tried another rom? Are you sure that your schools Internet is not safe guarded or blocking what they would refer to as warez sites?
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )

Im running the stock ICS Sense rom from the OTA update (4.0.3). And I know that my school's wifi doesnt have these things restricted because on my previous phone (OG Droid), everything worked fine. I could browse the web, send GV messages and everything.
Not sure if this helps, but Im rooted with S-Off on HBoot 1.58.

Sorry, forgot to mention... No, I cant flash roms because I havent figured out how to downgrade my HBoot yet (1.58). But Im hoping once I figure that out and flash a new rom/kernal, that will do the trick.

You should be able to flash any ICS Rom if you are in that hboot.

I've tried about 2 or 3 actually. I kept getting bootloops. I did a lot of research and a lot of threads talked about how you cant flash AOSP and some other type of roms on 1.58. But I just flashed ViperRom after downgrading to 1.4. So I'll let you know if I still have the problem after school tomorrow.

Maybe the problem is with School IT and data throughput. Maybe they put limit there, so you cannot communicate while you are on exam or using time on "chatting with friends" during classes ..

Well then why did it work perfectly with my previous phone? It cant be a coincidence that they updated their internet security the same weekend I got this EVO.
Still having the same issues with the viperROM. It works for minute once I walk in the door, then just stops. Im still able to download from the Playstore and get notifications, but nothing else. Cant even do a Google search.

OK. So you've tried different ROMs and get the same behavior. And I'm assuming Wifi works correctly everywhere else or you would have mentioned it. So, I'm leaning toward something with the school wifi. I know that my work wifi only lets students out through port 80; nothing else.
Having said that, I do find it odd that basic web surfing and Google searching doesn't work while the other stuff does. You'd think it would be the other way around.

Im seriously stumped. It doesnt make sense to me. Im able to download all the apps I want, and get notifications, but nothing else. So I dont think its the port, because Im obviously getting some sort of internet connection. I've done endless amounts of Google searches and cant find anyone who has had this problem. I know there a web filter, but it only blocks certain inappropriate sites.
But what puzzles me even more, is how my previous phone did everything just fine. So I dont think its the WiFi.
Im probably being a bit repetitive, but my mind is just blown. It literally makes zero sense to me.
Try this.
NVM. Since your problem is WiFi related this probably won't help.
It sounds like your school uses some kind of proxy for security purposes.

You may need to set a proxy when you make the wifi connection to your school's network. Those settings are available by checking "Show advanced options" right below "Show password" when you first connect to the access point, or by long pressing the SSID of the network while connected and selecting "Modify network". Some people have also reported solving Internet connectivity via wifi issues by clearing the proxy settings if they were somehow set by accident.
You will probably need to check with your school's network administrator to confirm that and get the proper settings. I'm not sure why the OG Droid didn't require similar settings but it might have been able to pick up the proxy automatically like Internet Explorer does on a PC.
BTW, unless you checked the option in the Play Store app settings to download via wifi only, you may be getting your apps and notifications via Sprint's cellular network without being connected to the Internet via wifi at all.

I make sure that the Mobile Network option stays off. I know for a fact its via WiFi. And I did some research to find that this should be easily fixed. But having the crappiest luck sometimes, the viperROM I'm running managed to hide the RSTP/HTTP Proxy settings (Not sure how or why) making them inaccessible. Even worse, I cleared all my backups on my SD card to get those 2 gigs of storage back, so I cant restore to my stock ICS ROM from the OTA update while mainting root and S-OFF. At least not that I know of.
Sorry if I seem like kind of a noob, I got this phone used like 2 weeks ago. I still have a little to learn about it.

To be 100% sure that only wifi is active you can put the phone in airplane mode, then turn wifi on after that takes effect. I know that works because I do it all the time myself. I'm pretty sure the RTSP/HTTP proxy settings only affect the data connections through the Sprint network and not wifi.
You can flash the RUU.exe to return to stock without losing S-OFF, then flash a custom hboot and recovery and root the stock ROM. I outlined this process for someone else that was S-OFF in this post, which is part of my guide for rooting and getting S-OFF.
Edit: According to this thread, RTSP/HTTP proxy settings can affect ALL traffic. I'm still not 100% sure that they apply to wifi.

Wifi and Data network issues after root

I'll start with the preliminary "If this is the wrong place please let me know and I will relocate" prefix.
The issue is pretty easy to explain, After rooting my phone and removing what I thought was bloatware the wifi and data no longer wants to work/services aren't turning on (began after restart not immediately following the root or software removal)
I should have made a backup prior to rooting but I was feeling lazy and it's an older unit, worse case scenario I'll replace it so that wasn't a huge issue at the time (hindsight is 20:20 and I'd rather not replace it right now)
I have a samsung sch-i200 running 04.01.02. I decided for various reasons that I should root the phone as I have with a few others in the past. So I did my research, found a comfortable software, and rooted the phone. Everything worked fine at first root went though perfectly and all the features I was looking for ended spot on. Then I went through and removed some of the bloatware from the phone and things started to get tricky. I am guessing that I misjudged like an idiot the purpose of one of these applications and messed up something I shouldn't have.
The applications I removed were named:
backup+ media
my verizon mobile
sync service
verizon guide tours
verizon login
verizon remote diag
voicemail
verizon tones
vz navigator
I don't use Verizon as a carrier so I was assuming (again, like an idiot I believe) that one of those services was either not part of the bloatware they added, or I misjudged the necessity of said bloatware. The other possibility is that the root I went through DID fail to complete properly, although I am not really convinced yet of that as the phone had been restarted several times after the root with no issues. Currently the phone is still able to call and text fine but I haven't been able to get the wifi to turn on or data to activate.
To keep this from getting too long winded I won't go much further in detail, I'm somewhat tech savvy but not an expert by any means and have exhausted my knowledge on searching via google and other forum sources I could find. At this point I would love to just get a copy of the stock ROM for the phone so I could just revert it back to factory but that seems to be something of a unicorn on the internet at this time.
I should state that I have attempted the basic troubleshooting, power cycle, airplane mode toggle, safe mode, settings reset via the boot menu options (full wipe and restore), I've also made some attempt to try and find a way to reinstall the bloatware I removed but can't seem to find it.
I generally hate posting on forums about these things because you can normally find an answer if you search but i'm on about 6 hours of forum crawling and am either blind or unable to find it, so I plea now for assistance.
Any help will be appreciated.
