Nougat B12 finally released on ZTE Australian site - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi fellow Aussies, ZTE AU has finally updated the web site so you can download the Nougat B12 ROM.
I'm downloading now and going to install over my current B12 so I can look at build.prop and see if it has any localisation for us.
http://www.ztemobiles.com.au/feature_AXON7.htm
Firmware Upgrade from V1.2.0B09 to V1.2.0B12 - Released 12/09/2018
But the zip is 2.8Gb so it is a full ROM, not just an update. Make sure you're at least running Nougat B09 but B10 will be fine too. They specify B09 as they never released B10 for AU.
Edit: I don't think it is any different to the files from other countries. Build prop still has EN GB as default location same as the one I already installed.

Awesome thank you for that info, I have a friend that needs her Axon 7 updated, I'll check it out for her.
I'm running the B16 Oreo Build atm, giving it a test run

I'm patiently waiting for an official public release of Oreo. Too many on XDA want everything to happen overnight jump the gun and go flash happy with custom ROMs and brick their devices or whine about stuff not working.....

Maybe it's because of rumors about official Oreo release? I saw some posts on XDA and Reddit that upgrade from Nougat to Oreo may be a one way ticket to lock your device. Locked bootloader, no root, no EDL and ability to downgrade.
But they are only rumors.

@RobboW
I'm hearing you there, I jumped in feet first unfortunately
I soft bricked my phone but managed to recover it with an Edl package

Why?
Do you have any source for this? How do you know?
NOT TRUE - http://www.droid-life.com/2017/01/06/leeco-expect-software-updates-soon-address-user-pain-points/
yes, but he does not speak of nougat
I was just reading that you won't be able to receive any updates with international stock rom installed.
Is that really true? I can't find any option in settings to search or install any updates.
I am kind of happy with the international stock rom. No Chinese apps installed, no bloatware (so far found) and google play store is working.
Thanks!

What do you mean under international stock rom? Could you be more specific?
There are so called "webshop" roms, which are - as you can see in the name - modified by the online stores. Those roms are based on Indian version of eui , installed lots of bloatwares, multilanguages are contained. These are not official roms, not gonna be updated.
You should consider installing offical chinese/indian rom, which is gonna be updated for sure.

A user can always update the shop rom with the latest official rom via recovery. The easiest way to do it.

I am not really sure if I am running a Shop ROM. Just bought the phone from Gearbest.
I just thought that the Indian Version is the international version with multilanguage. I have LeEco Store installed and 3-4 other apps. But it really seams to be a Shop ROM because of the missing update option.

Can you explain what to do?
Just download the latest Indian version than rename it to update.zip and put it in the root folder and after that Power + Vol + and thats it?
I just dont want to lose German language on the phone. It is for my mother so usability is the most important, you know.
Thank you guys in advance!

Guess you are right. But you won't get OTA updates, if you use webshop rom. I didn't get neither.

Very simple. Yes.
I have Deutsch in my latest official Chinese 20s.
So does it mean that I can flash/update eather Indian or Chinese ROM just over the shop ROM without losing any data and language?
Sounds too easy for me
Yes, its easy like that i upgraded from shop rom to 21S Chinese - and I was wondering that german is better supported in 21S Chinese then in the germanized shoprom version ... only bad thing was - i lost the google play store.

And to get back Google Play Store you have to download it in LeEco store or just install the Indian version instead of the Chinese, right?
... or use this one -> https://xiaomininja.com/2016/07/15/...l-google-play-services-on-miui-8-video-guide/
I installed the cookie version 92 2 works fine. After wipe wipe data, flash with twrp and is done. Try. The zip file is called
X820_TWRP_ADVANCED_V3.1.1_CUOCO92. ZIP
yes but i heard leeco engineering work on android 7
Heyyo, yeah that international EUI ROM is modified and won't get OTA hence the check for updates is missing.
For my x829 I couldn't upgrade to Indian or Chinese EUI directly via the recovery and update.zip. It would give an error message about file errors. Only way for me to flash other ROMs was to use TWRP via temp boot via fastboot and then flash other ROMs.
I ended up not liking even newer EUI versions so now I use custom ROMs as they have a better setup with the more like Stock Android experience with the quick settings in the notification drawer.
It's still hard to tell if LeEco will be able to follow through with Nougat for their phones due to all the financial issues they have... But meh, tbh I'm not worried given how darn good community ROMs are and how they don't have the odd quirks that EUI have.
Albeit, it would be nice if they at least put out kernel sources for Nougat (or I guess Android O which will be out sooner than later) which could improve community ROMs a bit

It was said by January. Still they didn't released an update :crying:
Last update i got was on 14th October 2016. When ever i send a mail asking about the next update they respond like we will inform in a week or two. But they never did. By the end of march they said that they are working on android 7 but it will take more time. They said expected release will be july last week. I mailed again now. No responses from them.
I like the EUI very much. I don't want to install some custom rom. But same time, this thing have lot of bugs and many futures need modification.

[INFO] Nougat on A2017G (+ other models)

Thought i want to give some additional info (if not known already) reagrding the N update coming for the A2017 models.
Today i had some FB conversation with ZTE Mobile Germany to ask some definitve answers for this update to come.
This is what they gave me :
1. When : end of january 2017
2. Which types : all of the types/models get a specific update
3. OTA or SD ? : will be an SD card update (so happy ROOTing guys, because imo the OTA updates are no longer coming after this upgrade to N)
4. Bootloader unlocked : NO (perhaps the advice to unlock it before the N update to be sure you have it unlocked)
5. Root option available in settings : NO
6. test version or the real stuff : REAL STUFF
7. DayDream supported : coming soon (https://vr.google.com/daydream/phones/)
Good news after all i think. Let's wait a little bit longer :cyclops:
@rikin93 can you confirm all of that information ? Especially about bootloader unlock ?
Here is the message
cheers !
ps : so all models get a seperate N - update
@raystef66 i believe you but @rikin93 is our ZTE Europe insider and few weeks ago he said that he got beta Europe unlocker so I wish to hear his position about your statement.

No problem mate I have seen he has written that before.
Hope there is one, otherwise it would be best to unlock before...if this news above is correct.
Sure thing ! We just need to wait - as always.

Will be supported in first release IMO and if not yet in the first release, it always will be possible to update it via SD when they update a new one. I don't see any problem in that matter.

For simplicity sake, I hope they do get rid of OTA. I think the SD card route would be better, and it allows people to update at their own leisure without nag.

Well we certainly see that here in the forums. If this is true, it will be good for them to learn.
I dont know what version the root and bootloader unlock is coming on so i will find out ASAP.
However, Nougat should be coming by the end of this month and a B10 update end of this week/next week.
And yes i was previously on a B03 bootloader unlock/root given to me by ZTE to test out and was working fine. My camera broke so i had to get replacement phone so i am off root for now till they release the official one so dont worry guys i will keep bugging them for information!
An SD update is not difficult, just move the update.zip file to root directory of sd card and then go into Settings->Update and the update will be listed there and is straightforward from then on.
B10 is indeed scheduled coming week.
Just got the phone
So, on yours opnion should I unlock BL/Root/xposed right now? Since it`ll be an SD update??
just got my A7 and started reading only today bout unlocking BL/rooting (done this in all my old phones before).
Thanks!

Of course they would all need a separate update -- the modems would all be different. What would be more important would be that some (U and G and maybe Chinese) are based on the same codebase, rather than separate ones. Then the updates would roll out with similar features in a similar time frame.

what? ok it's true most of axon 7 owners are power users but it's not how it should be done at all... OTA is the easiest way to notify your clients of your work, general and security improvements, you don't want them to bother on manually installing updates, you try to make sure everyone is up to date.
If this is true, I hope they mean for the time being, before rolling the update to everyone after through OTA. I don't read german so I can't really know if there are subtleties involved in the syntax.
By the way, weren't there a kind of community forum for european/german model through which we could communicate with the devs in english? or by email?

My comment was in the context of general public. There are far more axon 7 in the hands of layfolk than xda users. An ota is the simplest way to push an update through. While the steps are simple, i'm confident people will find ways to screw up copying a file to the sd card.

So i'm forced to buy an SD card to keep my phone up to date? That's not the way a company should handle their customers.

Z5compact (stock out of the box) and question how to flashtool (Nougat),bloody newbie

Hi community,
as far as I read nougat has been torn back from sony. Anybody updated before and has a smooth experience? Would like to update too.
Downloading and starting flashtool does not give me the check updates tab, so is anything wrong or has the device to be prepared?
Does this way need root or unlocked bootloader or something else?
I hoped taking a virgin z5c and flashtool would fit to check for updates, find the device and firmwares according to, choose one of and flash?
Isnt it that easy? Any ideas when nougat from sony official will be provided once more?
Thank you
There were a couple of serious bugs in the Nougat release, hence the draw back by Sony.
Maybe in a month or two, we'll see a fully working Nougat ROM for Z5C.

I'd suggest to wait too. Backup TA, Root and use Xposed instead. The only thing that is a bit more handy is split screen mode. I have audio bugs and thermal issues running nougat.

Android 8.0 Oreo update for US unlocked Galaxy Note 8 has leaked online

As seen on Sammobile :
"The leaked OTA requires the device to be on firmware version N950USQS2BQK2, which is the latest official build and only available for unlocked Note 8 units on Verizon at this point. However, to get around that limitation, any unlocked Note 8 owner can get the N950USQS2BQK2 firmware on their device by following the upgrade path suggested by the Reddit user. Also, this is only for the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Note 8 in the US, if that wasn’t clear already."
"Naturally, we don’t support flashing unofficial software unless it comes directly from Samsung as part of a beta test program, so you’re on your own and would require some knowledge of flashing firmware (both via a PC and through the phone’s recovery mode) if you decide to try this out. What we can suggest is looking at a few step-by-step guides that seem to be making the rounds online with directions for installing the leaked Oreo build.
We would also suggest making a proper backup of your Note 8 via Samsung Smart Switch (or any of your favorite backup apps) before trying the test Oreo firmware, as you may have to wipe all your phone’s data (including images and other files on the internal storage). And, if you do install it, let us know how it works! To see what features Oreo is bringing to the Galaxy S8, check out our exhaustive What’s New With Android 8.0 Oreo series, which should apply to the Note 8 as well."

Android Oreo OTA (this is real)
"Hey, Here is a link to the Android Oreo OTA
https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQS2BQK2-to-U2CQL1-UP https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xTtsn6gcg4JEX2dYKPiXTWVhPiGPzIBn/view?usp=drivesdk
Before you can do this build you will need to be on 2BQK2, so to get to that you need this build: https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48993/1488/SS-N950USQU2BQJA-to-S2BQK2-UP
ODIN for BQK2: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19gW_CxUf2HdL4UYyxTkyOnBY8cluRIVS&export=download
this file for BQJA is on SamMobile, SamFirm, and Updato. These are OTA updates besides the flashing required in that.
I currently have an S8 on the Oreo beta and will be buying a Note8 this weekend because of this. I AM SO EXCITED!
Oh just a side note, this may be unstable and crash, you have been warned."
SOURCE
Hopefully Exynos Oreo will get leaked too ?.
If anyone tried it already, how is it? Any new features?
I tried this. I get errors on the oreo update. I just odined the AP, CSC, and CP so i take it i need to odin BL rest to get this to work. I'm a little hesitant because of having an unlocked phone so if a unlock BL exploit comes I don't want the inability to odin back to unlocked BL. Not sure if it's possible or if it increments

Title says for unlocked...the unlocked device is SM-N950U1 and this leak is the AT&T leak...correct?
Not to mention there is already a thread
Thread closed.
There is already a topic for this here

Rolling back my LG V30 to Android 8 (Oreo)

I have an app that does not work after Android 8 that I need and there is no replacement in 9 or above. I managed to avoid updating my v30 to v9 and later for a year or so. It accidentally allowed the update to 9 this past weekend while I was camping. All I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
I have enough tech knowledge to follow directions and understand rooting but am having a really hard time finding the "right directions." As I was reading some of them, I found caveats like, "Use X unless you have the delta update and then use Y but not if you want to run Z. For Z, you have to follow this other thread." I also know that using the wrong settings or data file could brick the phone.
So, I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down what sets of directions I need to follow.
Here's what I have right now:
LG V30 (VS996) On Verizon Network
Developer Options Enabled
Android V9
Security Patch Level August 1, 2019
Kernel Version: 4.4.153
Build #: PKQ1.190414.001
Software version: VS99630c
Again, all I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
Bonus would also be a way to stop asking me every day to update or delay a day and just wait until I manually do it.
Thx in advance!!
Download the right firmware file for your device from here -
Models - LG-Firmwares.com
Free archive of LG firmwares. Comparison of features and reviews of all mobile devices. Quick download of updates for your device.
lg-firmwares.com
Then download the flash tool from here -
LG Flash Tool Free Download - Official Download Links
LGUP tool is the latest version of LG Flash Tool that allows users to flash stock firmware on LG smartphones and tablet devices. Download LG UP tool 2018 from the official download links.
lgflash.com
Follow the instructions on both the pages. I think you can take it from here.
Note that implied with this process is that you cannot downgrade your firmware without wiping the phone... there's no way to "patch" back to the old version. So, be sure to take backups FIRST.
If you're rooted on the old firmware, you can then disable/freeze/delete the update APKs so that the update warning goes away. But this requires root, so be aware of that. If you don't haven't rooted already, then this is a process of its own, and will require you to go back to Nougat in order to perform that, so you may want to do that before installing the final version of the ROM you want. You can find out how to do this rooting process on the WTF thread, post #193, located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
If you don't want to root, that's fine, but then you must endure the update warning process... unless you can find another way to disable the update APKs.
Thank you both. I expected to wipe the phone so that's not an issue. I will first install Nougat, root and then update to Oreo.
There are about 14 Oreo ROMs on that site. Do I just pick the latest one or do I have to pick the earliest one and update that?
Pick the latest one.
