How can I get rid of Virgin Mobile Launcher?
It atomatically downloads when activated.
I dont like it neither do I want it
Same problem
Seriously this has been a huge pain for me.. since 2 updates ago i think it installed virgin mobile launcher on my galaxy s7 and at least 10-20 times a day i get a notification that only says processes are running and that virgin mobile launcher is using battery. While gaming, like if playing pubg even on game priority mode it still activates and slows down the frame rate tremendously... like enough to where i have to stop playing... i cant uninstall it it looks like so i been searching for a way too... it sucks but so far i disabled all access permissions on my phone for the app under settings/applications it doesnt fully disable it from running automatically but helps a bit and it seems like it doesnt run for as long but we will see i guess... anyone who managed to solve this problem please help.

Does anyone know if there is a widget comparable to the sense "mobile" widget, that will turn mobile data on/off, and works with the Eris? I've tried toggle data widget and switchpro and neither of them work. Thanks!

I used to be looking out for one, but I found out I always had one!
I assume your on a vanilla rom and dont have sense? use the control panel. there's a button with a circle and 2 arrows on it.
now this doesn't actually turn off 3g, it turns off active syncing. active syncing is what drains your battery when you aren't touching your phone. so if you turn it of, it will be exactly like if you turned 3G off all together. but! doing it this way, you can open up the browser, and it will still automatically load.
like, if you turn it off, your phone wont be using 3g to constantly check on your new emails, but if you went to the mail application and hit refresh it will bring in the new emails for you.
Thanks, actually I'm trying to convince myself I could use a non-sense ROM. There are many things that I love about sense and the mobile widget is one of them.
I'm on pageplus and only have 50mb of data, so I like to keep the mobile connection off unless I need it for some reason. One time I was listening to pandora over wifi and all the sudden my data usage was maxed out. I believe the wifi radio was turned off after 15 minutes because of one of the phones settings (I've since changed that setting and haven't seen this problem). Needless to say, since then, I've been paranoid.
The suggestion to disable syncing will help but I would prefer to cut the connection completely. That way, any app that might happen to be running in the background (That I no longer need) won't be able to suck away at my limited data. Or, if wifi get's turned off automatically for some reason
Are there any other suggestions?

would that work ?
Thanks rv, I've actually tried that one and it doesn't appear to work on the Eris. Other people have reported the same in the reviews.

I am on page plus also, and i faced the exact same dilemma trying a non-sense rom. I couldn't find anything reliable. I know its not as convenient but what about just pushing the power button for 2 secs and then selecting turn on/off mobile network from that list. I have to do this in sense sometimes because the mobile widget doesn't work occasionally.
For those that are using roms that still have HTC Framework, then a shortcut is to long press the end call button and select the last option. Which is Mobile Network ON/OFF
Atleast that's a workaround but not a complete widget replacement, sorry
Check out beautiful widgets, it's 1.99 but it might have what you need.

u should try droidwall. am on pageplus too and use this one to control the data usage. u can block some or all apps from using 3G and restrict them to just wifi. its free. try it out

Yeah that will work fine, I never noticed that was there... but do the AOSP/Cyanogen builds have this option?

I actually have beautiful widgets, but there isn't one to turn off data.
Just to post an update for anyone interested:
SwitchPro widget works great at least on White Widow. I'm assuming it works on any AOSP ROM. I tried it with a stock sense rom previously and it didn't work for me, so I'm assuming that it doesn't work with sense.
I'm about to get a new S3 and I have a perfectly good nexus S 4g.
Is it possible to install a rom that will make the phone function like the nexus 7? so my daughter can use it etc?
thanks in advance!
I guess the real question is can i put the tablet version of jellybean on the nexus S 4g. I don't want any phone features. Does that make sense?
You could probably remove the dialer and messaging apps, although third party dialers could still be installed from Google Play. But probably the easiest thing to do would be to just run it in airplane mode so the cellular radio isn't wasting battery life. Thats what I do on a cheap prepaid Android phone that I use as an internet radio device.
True, but i feel like there are things phones have that are running and using memory that could be disabled to make the phone run faster.
I wonder if something like the nexus 7 image would work just straight up? I'm thinking it might just ignore the phone aspects but the buttons are different so that might need some adjusting.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Anyone? I'm still looking to find a way to do this. Has anyone done it?
You should be able to use a root explorer to remove the phone app, etc. But besides that you would have to build a ROM for it. The easiest thing would be to turn on airplane mode and then turn on wifi, that's what I did with my HTC Incredible to use as music player.
There isn't anything you can uninstall that will make the phone faster. You won't notice a difference... AT ALL. Just erase the icons from the home screen, but leave the dialer and messaging app in the app drawer. That way it's useful as a backup phone, and another plus, is that your daughter can still dial 911 on the cellular network in a pinch, regardless of whether it has service or not.
Put it in Airplane Mode and turn WiFi on. Voila, awesome little android mp3 player with emergency call capabilities. Something my kids Galaxy MP3 players can't do at all (totally wish it could).
Hey there,
I'm on a bit of a language barrier here, so bare with me if you will.
I've activated GoLocker and GoLauncher for about a month now and since both tools are activated I don't get an internet connection while I'm on the lock-screen. If I unlock my phone the little "3G" or "Edge" symbol appear in the status-bar and everything works fine. This little inconvenience bothers me, for multiple reasons. If I forget about my phone for a few hours and I unlock it, I get WhatsApp messages from 2 hours ago, which kinda sucks, considering the literality of "Instant Messaging". Same problem with Skype, you get where I'm going with this.
Deactivating GoLocker doesn't make any difference. Although the connection comes back before I enter my code which unlocks the screen. So basically once I press the Lock button on the side of my device, the connection returns.
My brother who regularly posts in the custom ROM section directed me here to ask you guys for help.
Here's some data:
I'm on a Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100)
I'm on Android 4.1.2
I can't do a software update because the phone tells me it has been changed. My brother worked some magic about half a year ago. He switched the internal and the SD-card storage somehow and fooled around with the firmware a bit.
It's kinda bothering me, so of one or more of you could help me out, It'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
No need for new Rom
just go to Wifi setting and make it always on (do not sleep) ^_^

I'm not talking about WIFI, I'm mainly talking about the mobile connection. (3G, etc...) Although WIFI isn't working either while on Lockscreen.
I've got popup notifications activated in WhatsApp and I want the pop-ups to show up even while the phone is locked. It worked fine until I installed GoLocker and GoLauncher. Maybe some other app triggered the problem or I messed up something in the settings, I can't really tell.
Still haven't figured this out. Sorry for the bump but this issue is just mind boggling to me.

Yeah, so I let the system beat me and finally gave up and uninstalled GoLocker, as well as all the other software from the developers (GoLauncher, all the widgets, etc.) and it works fine now with the standard lockscreen. Still sucks, though since I created my entire theme for GoLocker and GoLauncher as well as dozens of icons myself and really liked the look.
So if anybody is experiencing the same problem, just get rid of the GoSoftware and everything will work fine again.
Thanks for all the help, by the way.
Pesky "Go" devs. Ever since I seen their launcher I know they were bogus. Go apps cause so many problems its not even worth using. Glad you found out your problem.

Does anyone notice that their phone's performance drops when they have their watch connected? As I'm typing this even I notice a slight lag on the keyboard.
I have the Nexus 5 and never had performance issues before. Might be the constant Bluetooth connection or the increased ram usage? I noticed the watch app can take up a lot of RAM.
Sound off.

Also N5 here, no problems though
N5, no problems here.
N5 with PA 4.45 here:
No problems at all. No difference on the Phone with/without the watch connected, or even android wear sw installed on the phone.
I think you have an app installed (either on the phone and/or on the watch that's causing this. But do not ask me which app :silly:
Maybe you did an Update of some apps or install some new apps?n Maybe going back to older version will help?
I would recommend to restart watch and phone. If this will not help I would do a backup of the phone and start troubleshooting.
First I would clear Data and cache of the android wear app (in Settings on the phone) and reset the watch (Factory defaults).
Then do not install any app like watchface etc. on the watch and check if all works fine. So maybe uninstall the apps on the phone for the clock either.
If then all works fine (and that should be the case) You can reinstall all apps and watchfaces one by one and try after every app if problem occours again.
Maybe you do a list of installed wear apps as some users reportet also problem with battry drain etc with some apps installed,
Installed OG on my phone 5 days ago and it started to get really laggy yesterday. Requires me to restart the phone multiple times a day. I Odin the tar and wiped everything. Did not root. Any solution to make the phone better without rooting?
none root and install custom recovery-is there a reason why u dont want to root will give me a good perspective
I can confirm that the lock screen lag and lag troughout the system is due to auto brightness (services.jar) like the s6 edge.
