Memory problem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a moto g5 with sd card as internal memory and android 7. Since today I cannot save fotos (when I try to make a photo it says camera error, with screenshots it says not enough memory space, but there are 59gb free), cannot sent fotos or music (with whatsapp it says: the format of the item is not compatible, when I want to send as email it says the attachment is not found on the phone ). Also I cannot download apps. It is possible to copy the fotos and music to the laptop. Is there anyone who has an idea? I would be so happy.
I found the problem, quite simple: damaged micro sd-card

[Q] Saving picture issue from email

So I sent myself a couple pictures from my email and with the Gmail app I saved them but they don't show up in my gallery or in my downloads. Gmail still shows them as saved though. Any idea where it may mysteriously send these pictures off to into the phone?
If you have an SD card there will be a download folder in both the internal and SD card memory, use whatever file manager program came with it or a 3rd party like ES file explorer to check both the SD card and internal memory for the folder. The internal memory will probably be labeled /sdcard with makes you thing it is the external but it isnt, the external will be at /mnt/ext****. On my S3 i have to check both folders to find downloads as some apps default to the external card if available and some target the internal memory.

[Q] Memory Storage

I purchased the P780 a few weeks ago. Although I'm happy with the phone there are a few glitches that I cannot seem to find a solution to.
1. Any images or audio files put on the external memory card are not shown in the super gallery photo viewer or google music player.
2. I have selected the external memory card as the default write disk. All the data (Whatsapp downloaded images, videos, etc, documents downloaded from the web browser) are stored on the memory card, but they cannot be seen on the photo viewers or music players etc. If I default the writing disk to the internal memory card, none of my apps installed on the external card are shown in the menu.
Is there any solution to this problem? If not, just tell me. I'll stop looking for the solution and get on with using it as is.
Thank you.
I never have problem with this, I am using 32 GB external micro SD and no problem. Are U talking about storage which has phone only or included SD card?
Add 2. It s normal when U change external to internal storage (or conversely) as default storage, that phone doesnt see the app which was instaled before changing storage, but when when draped as it was originally, it will return back.
U can try use another viewer for image or music from playstore, if U see all images or music, ... If U are using SD card, it must be formated fat32 (not NTFS) or ext2/3/....
And place when U download files U can set in the internet browser properties.
Which ROM on your lenovo are U using?
Thank you. I shall try re formatting it and also look for other viewers/players.
BEFORE RE-FORMATING DO BACKUP of all !
Of course.

Problems with SD card

Howdy,
I had an sd card working fine in the Swift 2 but it suddenly stopped working and couldn't be read by a PC either. I have therefore bought a new one but I can't get it working right in the Swift.
The phone recognises when I put the card in so it's not broken. I can format it okay and I can tell Android to use it as External (for storing photos or music) or as Internal (for apps etc) but whatever I do it does not seem to work. I cannot download any large apps as I get a message asking me insert an sd card and if I try to use the camera or gallery I get a similar message "No external storage available".
Looking in the settings for Storage & USB I can see Android clearly recognises the card but no apps will use it. Is there another step to the set up I'm missing or something?
Thanks for your help.

Whats the best way to use SD cards on the MI A3?

I am new to Android One and up until now used microSD cards exclusively to save the images and videos shot by the phone cam and for offline navigation software maps (Sony, Huawei, and so on)
Now Android 9 on the Mi A3 gives me two options:
--> use as "portable memory"
--> use as "internal memory"
When I use it as internal memory, many apps store files on it although I actually only want the photos to be kept save on it in case of phone failure... I also read, that in case the phone fails I can't copy files from the sd card as it is encrypted to be only read by phone itself? Is that true?
Thank you for your help.
Pretty sure you should use it as portable
storage. I have all my music on there and any backup file, photos, etc, I can save on there too. You also avoid encryption this way, too, but I'm not sure about that.

Click to collapse
Then you should definately use it as portable. Elsy you will have problems reading it in any other device.

Yes.
To format it as internal should use the SD storage as an extension to the internal storage. So, if you got a 64 G internal storage and add a 64 G card as internal, you should see a continuous block "internal" memory wit size 128G. Since I do currently not need the space on my SD, I gave it a try. But strangely afterwards "memory" showed internal 128G (I have the 128G model with an 128G card...) and the card as 256G.
I reverted to prtable anyway for the same reson; to use it as backup storage device.

Help! Anyway I can move videos and pictures from gallery vault on SD directly to PC?

Basically, my SD Card recently got corrupted. However, the good news is that the files are not lost. I am unable to play the files while on SD Card, however, I am able to move them to Device Storage, and access them.
Also, I am not able to add anything to SD Card.
Now the issue is I have over 4000+ videos and pictures on an application known as Gallery Vault. It consists of a total of 70gb. Therefore, I am unble to remove the file to device storage as I have a very limited device storage.
Can I manage to simply move all the files from Gallery Vault on my SD Card directly to my PC?
