Scrolling inertia in AOSP ROMs - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi all.
This problem is not limited to only poco f1 but it is still present in the current custom ROMs. In my experience, custom ROMs except PixelExperience typically have this problem which is ununiform scrolling inertia across apps. Some apps like Google News or Chrome retains the acceptable scrolling inertia like stock MIUI, but some apps like instagram has really obnoxious scrolling inertia(scrolling way too fast).
This is not the problem of the app because in PixelExperience the issue isn't present but it is in ROMs like RR, AEX and etc.. Is there any fix to this problem, or is this known to the developers?
Edit: this recording might shed some light on the issue that I'm referencing

The POCO devs prefer customers using the Settings-User feedback function to file bug reports.
I suggest you do the same.
Also send them a screen recording. Instructions can be read here.

Thanks for replying.
I was talking about AOSP based custom ROMs, there is no such problem present in stock ROM so I was curious about it. If it's app based problem it should be present in said app across ROMs but this is specifically limited to AOSP ROMs.

Oh, that's interesting. Most people complain that the problem is present on every ROM.
Nevermind...

ROM for phone use

can someone pls, help which ROM (obvious that all are great and better than orig and not better than the other) to chose for using the device for its standard function.
so, i expect flawless operation along the menu-s and fuctions, priorities:
-phone and phonebook
-emails, sms messaging and web access
-bluetooth to headset
-gps if possible
-the weather function
-somewhat working camera for still pics.
not intersted in fancy backgrounds speed of the display, milisecs of the gps and the device for games and gadgets utube etc.
would appreciate a list or mention one or the other cooked roms for the above.
cheers,

thanks, Shazad appreciate. Wonder if all agree ?
I don't think I quite understand your question. You're not concerned with speed, or anything like that - so why not stick with the stock ROM?
Every ROM that is not stock will (or from what I've noticed) have a couple bugs. If it's not a bug, then it's some slight annoyance that may or may not be the deciding factor as to whether or not you flash that specific ROM. They are works in progress. The stock ROM, albeit is mind numbingly slow, is free from bugs.
Disable TF3D and bam, there ya go! Instant speed.

so,
no TF3D and smooth opeartion without slowdowns, freezes and soft resets with any ROM available? again, basic phone, text, email massaging and not utube and other not really phone related needs.

[Q] New to using custom roms, couple of questions

I just recently started using custom roms thanks to a friend of mine. I'm currently using Cyanogenmod, I believe the most recent one (flashed to the one released today) but I noticed a few things were missing. The biggest concern of mine is that I don't seem to have Google Now on my phone, and I seem to have lost S-Voice (which I assume Google Now replaces). Voice search also doesn't seem to be working either. Whenever I try using voice search, it immediately crashes. Lastly, I don't get 4g HSPA+ anymore. I'm not in an LTE area but we do get H+ here. I noticed that I am on 3g all the time. Just wondering if there were any fixes for these problems. Not a huge issue, just an inconvenience I'd like to see fixed if possible.

Cyanogenmod has a discussion thread in the general section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035141
you're best to go there and ask - but before you do, a quote from the cm10.1 thread you downloaded the rom from
- Camera: Recording effects broken
- Camera: Touch 2 focus issues with enabled flashlight
- Bluetooth: audio streaming sometimes becomes laggy or stops at a distance > 1m
- FM Radio: unsupported
- TV Out: unsupported, will never work (proprietary, undocumented)
- Lots of missing and yet unimplemented features
- and a lot more
these are known issues.
Actually we have two kind of roms. Based on Stock Samsung Rom and based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project). It isn't the same and AOSP roms mostly are missing much things added by Samsung, for example Smart Stay, Samsung Apps etc. CyanogenMod is based on AOSP.
If you ask me I'd stick with roms based on Samsung, mostly because I believe it's much more compatible than "clean" AOSP itself. But it's up to you, I'd suggest flashing some stock rom (f.e. Android Revolution HD) and make a decision which one you prefer.

Might i suggest you look into other top roms as well....after all, as long as you got a nandroid backup u can flash roms in a jiffy!
foxhound rom(most packed rom you can find!)
Rootbox(some nifty features plus it's very light and handles performance very well. Was also a very speedy performance rom on the s2)

Vanilla RootBox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898798

[Q] AOSP ROMs distorted images in browser

Hi I have an issue with all aosp ROMs whereby some websites will display completely distorted images. Amazon is the worst culprit but it happens with many sites. I've included a screenshot to demonstrate what I mean. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but its hard to search as results are mainly images of ROMs. This issue is not present with Samsung ROMs. Any ideas if this can be fixed? Cheers

Best long term custom ROM for the Redmi 3 Pro

I'm in a position right now where I won't have readily available internet for an extended period of time (living in a 3rd world country through the Peace Corps) and I wanted to make sure that I downloaded the most complete/least buggy ROM available right now.
Right now it looks like a toss up between the SpaceX Rom or CM 12.1, can anyone who has perhaps used both provide some insight? thanks.

I think that SpaceX is best for you becauz it is officialy supported for redmi 3 pro and the cm12.1 it is also supported but it has not fingerprint support . Yet
I have used both for my Redmi 3 Pro and what I can say is that it's all preference. In MIUI 8 (SpaceX) it is very stable but there were some minor things that i noticed such as some videos were not able to play on the browser app (trying to watch Naruto), unable to delete multiple contacts at once (yes, you have to have to delete one by one), cannot use a third party app for sending MMS or group texts (does not allow the message or picture to go through for some odd reason)., and also to add on to the MMS bug, YOU can start the group chat via text on MIUI's primary messaging app and it will be fine; however, if you somebody adds you to a group chat, you will only get a particular participant's text and not through the group chat....in other words you're really only texting one-on-one in group chat. Almost forgot one thing, and that is that not all your Xposed Modules will work on MIUI 8 whereas to CM 12.1 they work flawlessly (e.g. Youtube Background Playback, AdAway, One Tap Video Download). Those were my only negative experiences with MIUI 8 (SpaceX) that I encountered. As for CM 12.1 (nehz), it's stable as well....only problem is that it consumes more battery than SpaceX. Hope this helps you in what you will choose!

Have you tried MIUI 7? Specifically ManIT's rom 7.5.1? Does MIUI 8 have better battery than that Rom?

No, i have not tried it yet. What I have heard is that MIUI 7 has better battery than MIUI 8. However, I am not sure because I haven't tried it myself.
Yes miui 7 has better battery life compared to miui 8 but that is maybe cause miui 8 is still in beta stage.wait until stable then am sure it will be way better than miui 8.as you know updates are meant to improve not deprove.so for now miui 8 is not perfect but is still good for daily use.you wont be disappointed by its performance.
You must try European ROM for Redmi 3.
I've been using it for a month . And it's stable

Hi, I loved using the Pixel Experience ROM. I faced a couple of issues, and had to revert back to rooted stock rom.
Issues:
1. FM Radio doesn't work. Minor issue.
2. Camera: I understand that Camera2API is enabled by default in this ROM. All is good except when I use the camera built in Whatsapp. If the flash is not enabled, the capture comes with a green overlay which is not at all usable; this happens in both front and rear camera. The photo is fine when flash is enabled. No issues in the stock camera included in the rom and opencamera app.
3. When I call someone, the in-call timer doesn't start when they answer the phone, also the Hold & Add Call buttons are not available and call waiting is not functional. It is as if the device would not register if the call has been answered. I use Jio as my only sim so I could not tell if it is an issue specific to Volte calling. Things are fine in case of incoming calls. This is a major issue and I had to revert back to stock rom with Magisk because I was not getting calls. I saw other posts on the forum with this issue.
Thanks.
Same issues here PE with nano kernel 3.1 beta

I tried the April build of PE and unfortunately, these issues are still there. I cannot shake the feeling that I am doing something wrong. Are we supposed to flash anything else along with the ROM so that these issues would go away?
I have a little doubt.

Yes you can but I don't think there is an official Lineage ROM for Rosy. There is an unofficial available on XDA. There are a couple of other options that you can try. E.g. Resurrection Remix, crDroid, Pixel Experience, CyanogenMod etc.
why I can't flash gsi roms?
everytime I flash a gsi it boots to bootloader..
and another problem..
I cannot connect my device to my pc..
when i connect to pc it charges but doesn’t show the Notification light and in my pc it says unknown device..
I tried to update device driver but it says driver is upto date.. I tried installing drivers from online but still same problem..
and in my phone there shows no option to choose mtp or anything like that too...
any solution?
