why we must flash zip?
1 use root explorer like mixplorer.apk,
2 go to system/media/theme/default and rename 'powermenu' to powermenu.apk2 (for backup that file)
3 download 'powermenu.zip' from attach files and delete '.zip' (cant upload file name 'powermenu' whitout '.zip' extensions)
4 copy file 'powermenu' from attach files to system/media/theme/default (check permissions 644)
5 no need reboot
for restore orginal files delete 'powermenu' and rename powermenu.apk2 to 'powermenu'. no need reboot.

Thank you for your solution but I am going to allow to bring you an answer
Because simply most of the users prefer to flash a zip file without having to make other manipulations. Many feel reassuring so by operating
But if you are willing I am also going to bring a quite small criticism in your description of your solution

You sure you do not forget anything?
Because if you apply only it there will be no change.
50 % of the work is missing so that actually the new functions are present in powermenu . As for example to edit the services.jar file ...
Excuse me, it is not 50 % which it misses but 90 % in fact. Because you have to de-odex services.jar file, decompile services.jar file, recompile services.jar file, edit servives.jar file, and copy the new services.jar file in framework folder with 644 permission.
But I am certain that it is just any forgetting from you and that you fast go to correct your solution

Of course this is the correct way to go. However, your deodexed services.jar is not good as stock in terms of performance, delays, random freezes and touch delays. Seems that some bugs exist in your kitchen. I tried it many times in 10.0.4 and in 10.0.6 with same behaviour. I revert back to stock.
Thank you for your efforts and your time as well

Regarding modded systemui, tiny difference is not noticeable at all.

Discontinued. The latest versions of all previously supported ROMs have this functionality built in.
This gives you an over-scroll glow when you reach the end of a list.
I really hope you knew that before clicking on this thread.
Example if you don't know what I'm talking about
It's just a modified framework.jar with modified files allowing the over-scroll to work and the correct glow images assigned to it. Theming is very easy, just colorize the over-scroll glow pngs in framework-res.apk. The default is orange.
What I want to do with this thread is sort of have a place where you can find the over-scroll enabling mod for every popular ROM for our phones. If you think I should support a ROM that I currently don't, then please post in the forums because I read every post! Ask to put a ROM on the wishlist. Upload the ROM's framework-res.apk and framework.jar files and I'll work on it when I'm not busy with school.
Currently, the wish list is:
Stock KH7
[Update on 10/15/11] UnNamed v1.0.1 compatible files uploaded. Give them a try. Honorable mention to quarlow
Installation:
BACK UP YOUR OLD FRAMEWORK.JAR
Because I'll just laugh at you if you complain that your phone won't boot up.
>>>ADB:
Code:
Extract the CWM package to get the framework.jar
adb remount
adb shell
su
cd /system/framework/
cp framework.jar framework.jar.backup
exit
exit
adb push framework.jar /system/framework/
adb reboot
>>>ROOT EXPLORER:
Extract the CWM package to get the framework.jar
Okay, now you can theoretically do this, but why would you want to? You'll get lots of crashes and might mess something important up.
Go to: /system/framework/ and rename framework.jar to something else. Go back to where-ever you saved my modified framework.jar and copy it over to /system/framework/ and change the permissions of the new framework.jar to match the old one. I'm pretty sure it's rw-r--r--, but don't quote me on that. + Restart your phone.
Simba501 has a more indepth tutorial on how to install this mod through Root Explorer here
>>>RECOVERY (preferred):
Flash the one specific to the ROM you're running
Whatever method you choose, know that it will take a stupidly long time for your phone to boot-up. Don't worry though, it'll be worth the wait.
Yoderk created some cool themes for the over-scroll glow for Cognition Beta-4 which you can find HERE.
UnNamed 1.0.1 works with 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 as well.

That's awesome! Someone test it on stock w/ root, because if it works there, I'll be amazed.
Confirming that the cwm flashable zip works on cog beta 3!
Working fine here. I'm technically on Beta 1, but I've manually added the components I wanted from each Beta update because there were things I didn't want.
I have a suggestion. I don't know why everyone repeats that method for using root explorer. That's a terrible way to do it. I always use root explorer to manually replace my files and have never experienced any issues. Here is the correct way to use root explorer for manually replacing modded files:
1. Navigate to the file that you plan to replace (in this case, system/framework/framework.jar).
2. Copy (not move) the file and paste it somewhere on your SD card (internal or external, doesn't matter - as long as you can locate it in case you need to put it back). Rename the file you just pasted, but very subtly. For example, when renaming framework.jar, I would only throw something in front of the file name, such as "Backup - framework.jar", so I can easily distinguish it from the new file if I put them in the same spot.
3. NANDROID BACKUP!
4. Download/put on your sd card (whatever you do) the new file that you want to replace the old one with.
5. Move the new file to /system (not in a subfolder yet). Here you will change the permissions, which is crucial to avoid FCs and problems. In root explorer, you would long press the file, press permissions, and set them to whatever the old file's permissions are. This may require going to verify what they are before starting this step. In this case, the permissions are RW-R-R, which in root explorer, means that the first two boxes on the first line are checked and only the first box on the next two lines are checked.
6. Ensure that your new file is correctly named to exactly what it is replacing (case actually matters) and that the permissions also match what it is replacing.
7. Move your new file to the folder, root explorer will ask if you want to replace the file. Confirm.
8. Back out of root explorer and immediately reboot.
No force closes, no problems .
Cwm file worked great on cog beta 4. Thnkz!!

Well if your like me and hate orange! Then here are two framework-res.apk with a blue and green overscroll color. Just rename them to framework-res.apk and overwrite the original file in system/framework.
Do not forget to back up original file! I claim no responsibility to problems.

Yes. Those need the tw-framework to be modified and I haven't taken a look at those yet since I'm trying out Perception for a couple of days and that already has it coded in? But it isn't a problem per-say, it's just how Samsung decided to code those specific apps and there isn't a way to implement them in 2.3.4 without breaking the slide left to call, slide right to message, feature. 2.3.5 Roms have that built in on Samsung apps.
Problem probably isn't the best word.
Thanks for answering though. I always wanted the overscroll but having mixed bothered me.

There's a leaked 2.3.5 ROM for the i777 but personally I'm using designgear's Perception which is a port of a i9100 ROM and it works perfectly. I'd recommend the latter since leaked ROMs tend to have problems.

Hi all.
First, all credits go to Kyrillos and Hillbeast cause they show me how to fix that
Sooo here we go : You wanna enable 9 lockscreen mod without these ugly small bug icons and you want that with every deodexed JPU rom ?
Follow those steps !
* Download this .zip : Download here
It contains the framework and the libs that enable 9 lockscreen mod.
* Now you have two choices:
- Either you flash by CWM directly, without changing anything, so you will have by default the theme of Kyrillos v9.0+.
If you do so, then you can flash all themes that are compatible with 9 lockscreen mod (Delete all the .jar files in the update !! And follow the theme installation of course )
- Either you change the .zip, by adding your own framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk (Do not forget your themed apps, add a folder 'app' in /system (Use 7-Zip to do so))
WARNING : Do not remove / modify the lib folder or these three files from framework folder : framework.jar, services.jar and android.policy.jar
* Reboot your phone, and enjoy
Credits :
Kyrillos for helping and his modified framework
Hillbeast for show me the way of missing libs

Try wipe dalvik cache.
If it doesnt work, check that you have removed all .jar in the .zip of your theme. You only need jars files from my zip that you downloaded.
Then if it doesnt work too, post in the thread, the community will help you
You should add that it works on JPU. On any other froyo firmware it may be buggy.
Ah sorry yes..
I always forgot that Indians got an other firmware... Sorry, will modify that ^^'
If someone on ddjp6 could try and tell us, would be great
Sent from my Elora galaxy 3
Is this 9 lockscreen MOD?
Yes, it's a way to enable it in JPU (with a default theme : Kyrillos v9.0+, and all libs required)
After flash it, u can flash every theme which requires 9 lockscreen mod, like Miui 1.4.5 by Ghost in the Ruins for example
I'm currently on a stock JPU deodexed with the Miui 1.4.5 theme
So do i have to install kyrllios 9+?
Sorry for questions. I'm noob.
Certainly not
You can just flash this .zip from CWM without modified anything and enjoy with 9 lsm. By default, you'll get Kyrillos v9.0 THEME, just the theme ^^
Then, you can flash every theme you want that requires 9lsm
Nice share mate. This should solve the confusion. I will redirect my theme threads to here for users who are not on custom ROMs.
Is every lib file is necessary in the package you provided, because I noticed that one lib file is of terminal emulator.
I put libs files from Hillbeast.
I will modify it when i can
Sent from my Elora galaxy 3
After flashing the file (wiping dalvik-cache and cache) and rebooting my bootanimation appears but after that booting stucks and all I see is a black screen. It won't start at all.
I tried flashing the zip as it is and a zip containing my framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk from a UOT-Kitchen-Theme. I also did a third zip containing my SystemUI.apk (which is not affected by my UOT Theme)
For replacing I used 7zip as recommended and also Total Commander.
I'm using a Custom deodexed JPU with converted filesystem as follows:
stl6 ext2
stl7 ext4
stl8 ext2
Any idea on fixing this? (I have a CWM-Backup, so nothing can get lost )

Is the framework that you put in the zip 9 lockscreen modded?? Either flash the zip as it is or put a framework-res.ap that is 9 lockscreen modded into the zip and flash,
And SystemUI.apk?? We don t have SystemUI.apk in Froyo. Please don t put that.
I flashed it as it is AND with my modded framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk. So I flashed 2 different zips with restoring system and wiping caches between the flash operations. Both zips didn't work.
The SystemUI.apk I used is the one I took from my phone and I replaced the one in the zip for testing purposes.
Do I only have to replace the framework-res.apk and have to leave twframework-res.apk untouched?

No. twframework-res.apk is not modded for 9 locks. Its the same. If you flashed the zip as it is without replacing any files and it still didn t work?? Then I don t have any idea.:/

I tried but when i recompile it & push it in system\app with proper permission, after rebooting phone it stuck bootlogo..
The same happens when i tried to decompile DefaultThemes.apk & MusicWidget.apk they both were not installed...
then i searched & found that we have to compress the resources.arc blablablaaa... & signing with recompiling system apk..
Still after giving a lot of tries i dont understand how to use signing & compress resources.arc blablaballl idk..
If you know than may be you can teach
Rebooted my phone 100z of time to check every method i found but no success
Now i dont wana harm my phone, rebooting it again & again for the things that isn't working for me...

Well, I am a bit on the busy side.... I assume you didn't try my tool then?
To do this manually, you need to first recompile your apk after you've done all your changes. You already know this bit.
Then:
Make a copy of the old apk
Use 7zip to open both the copy and the recompiled apk
Drag the 'res' folder from the recompiled apk to the copy
Close the copy
Extract 'resources.arsc' from the recompiled apk
Add 'resources.arsc' to the copy, selecting 'STORE' compression
Close the recompiled apk
Open the copy and check that resources.arsc has the same size and packed size
Reboot the phone and go into recovery
Mount the /system partition
Push the apk straight to the right folder
Unmount the /system partition
Reboot the phone
Wait for it all to load
Wait a bit longer
Wait a bit longer still
And you're done.
If you've pulled the app from the phone to a Windows PC then you don't need to worry about permissions. That's only when you copy the app to your sdcard or pull the app using Linux.
Going into recovery might not be needed. Pushing system apps while the phone is running can cause some nasty bugs so I always use recovery just to play it safe. You'll need to reboot most of the time anyway to see the changes you've made.
Instead of pushing, you could make a flashable zip. As an amazing coincidence, Tickle My Android can do that too.

Thank you brother i will try it
and yes i have your tool too, it helped me to restore system fonts when i messed with it & had a bootloop:victory:
Great tool:good:
BTW can i use winrar instead of 7zip?
Where is 'STORE' compression can be found in winrar?
How to check that resources.arsc has the same size ( same size compared to with file? ) and packed size?

Excellent. I'm glad it helped.
Technically, you could use any archival program but it has to be one that lets you add files to an archive without compressing them. I find 7zip to be fairly quick and user-friendly. Plus, it's free which is always a good thing.

I don't know. I don't even know if winrar can do it. That's why I suggested using 7zip instead.
To check sizes, just open the app (again, this is using 7zip) and look at the numbers to the right of resources.arsc. One is the original size of the file, the other is the size it's been compressed to. These need to be the same.

I got your pm asking me to reply to this. I do most of my android modding stuff during spare moments at work because I don't have the time at home so I'd have gotten round to answering this in time.
I'm not sure what you're doing wrong here. Since you're got my tool installed, try using that first. If that works, then we know that there's something going wrong with the manual procedure and we can fix it.
If it doesn't work, then there's something wrong with the mod you're doing and we need to fix that instead.

To be honest, I don't know how to change the name of an app. It's something I've never done before.
I suspect that you've gotten the mod wrong somewhere but unfortunately I can't advise on where that could be.
Sorry, mate.
Flashlight Quick Toggle Mod TW 4.4.2 NE4 ( De-Odexed )
[FONT="]This mod was made for the Sprint L600 Mega and is for the [/FONT][FONT="]STOCK[/FONT][FONT="] TW ROM 4.4.2 NE4. I do not recommend flashing to a Custom Rom as the ROM may contain other special permissions/policies ( if added ) that the Rom Developer may have implemented or even may have been required to add so the Custom Rom may run or function properly. [/FONT][FONT="]
[/FONT][FONT="]DISCLAIMER:[/FONT]
[FONT="]By YOU, the USER, flashing this file or manually pasting to modify your Android System, YOU understand and know what YOU are doing. I nor anyone will be held liable nor responsible for YOUR doing if your phone bricks. As always, as is suggested by many and myself, please make sure you perform a complete[/FONT]
[FONT="]NANDROID BACKUP[/FONT]
[FONT="]before flashing and/or modifying your OS or the mentioned stock .jar file. I also suggest YOU keep a separate copy of the stock .jar file handy, like in your External SDcard, if the phone decides not to boot up. Knowing this, YOU assume all responsibility for what happens as YOU, the USER, know and comprehend what YOU are doing and understand the consequences or severity of damages that can be brought to your [/FONT][FONT="]device by flashing or modifying your OS incorrectly. [/FONT]
[FONT="]You[/FONT][FONT="] Have Been Warned !![/FONT][FONT="][/FONT]
[FONT="]What's Needed/Recommended:[/FONT]
[FONT="]Rooted Devise [/FONT][FONT="]( to extract the needed files Manually for backup )[/FONT][FONT="]
[/FONT][FONT="]Custom Recovery [/FONT][FONT="]( TWRP or CWMR/PhilZ for Flashing the ZIP )[/FONT][FONT="]
[/FONT][FONT="]Aroma File Browser/Explorer[/FONT][FONT="] ( type browser in CWMR/PhilZ Recovery to manually move the files )[/FONT][FONT="]
[/FONT][FONT="]If you can do it via ADB Commands then all power to you.....[/FONT]
[FONT="]I am providing [/FONT][FONT="]BOTH[/FONT][FONT="] stock Modded Sprint [/FONT][FONT="]( SystemUI.apk )[/FONT][FONT="] and [/FONT][FONT="]( SecSettings.apk )[/FONT][FONT="] files [/FONT][FONT="]below.[/FONT]
Flashlight Toggle Zip Flashable zip ( Tested - Not working - Removed )
SecSettings.apk
SystemUI.apk [FONT="]
[/FONT]
[FONT="]What To Do:[/FONT]
You have two choices on installing the .apk files. You can either Flash the ZIP in your Custom Recovery or you can use some form of File Explorer via in Custom Recovery ( like the [FONT="]Aroma File Explorer[FONT="] for CWMR [/FONT][FONT="]) or other means to copy & paste or push the .apk files to [/FONT][FONT="]system/priv-app/[/FONT][FONT="]. If you decide to do this manually, you will then need to set the file permissions to the modified apk files to[/FONT][FONT="] 0644 [/FONT][FONT="]and/or [/FONT][FONT="]check mark off[/FONT][FONT="] as the picture provided below shows using the method chosen through the root permissions it provides. You can rename the stock .apk files with " .bak " at the end so you don't have to delete them from the priv-app folder if you so choose. You will also need to add the “[/FONT][FONT="]Flashlight[/FONT][FONT="]” value in your settings.db file located in data\data\com.android.providers.settings\databases described in the link [/FONT][FONT="]here[/FONT][FONT="] . After just clear " [/FONT][FONT="]cache[/FONT][FONT="] " and " [/FONT][FONT="]dalvik cache[/FONT][FONT="]"ONLY after flashing or manually pasting the mod if you so choose.[/FONT][/FONT]
[FONT="]Words of caution[/FONT][FONT="].....[/FONT][FONT="]if you attempt to do this manually and are still actively booted in your Android OS while modifying or deleting the .apk file/s, there may be a chance that your phone will immediately reboot and you will not be able to boot into the OS and remain stuck as the apk’s is/are no longer visible to your OS. This is why you need to do this before booting up like in recovery.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Other Galaxy Mega Variants[/FONT][FONT="] - [/FONT][FONT="]Disclaimer[/FONT][FONT="]:[/FONT]
[FONT="]I do not know if this will work on other carriers/models as they all are different and can or will have different permissions/policies set forth so you will be trying at your own risk. I don't remember having the ability to turn it on or off in my settings with KitKat 4.4. The only way I knew was to use Xposed App to do so. I rather use an actual Toggle built in the stock System located in the Pull Down section.

What type of update error? Also did or did not flash? Thanks.
May end up just making this as a manual push mod instead of flashing.

Oh nice. Was it the same as the Note 2 or Galaxy S4/5? Also was this on KK NE4 and do you mind sharing the services.jar file from your Mega?
The HotSpot Mod should not affect the flashlight quick toggle. You did also edit the setting.db file as well correct and add Flashlight; to the line right?

Thank you sir. I will look into modding the services.jar for this. Also there should not be a problem for you to push these to your system, set permission to the files and then reboot. Also have to make sure you modify your settings.db file so it will show up in your toggles.
Can anyone tell me how to deodex Xperia Z2 6.0.1 firmware step by step? Thanks in advance....
+1
I am also looking for the same. On MM rom, Sony is using symlinks to link odex files.
A step by step guide would be highly appreciated.
Thank you
I'm not gonna go into deep details, but this should help.
- flash MM rom for your device, make sure it is ROOTED as you'll need to use an explorer with root access,it's better if you do this on a clean install, but this is just me
- boot your device and go through the setup process
- once done, install a browser with root access, I recommend MiXplorer, root explorer
- browse into /system folder
- check your /app, /framework, /priv-app, they should have odex files inside them (this was the case for me)
- copy these folders, plus build.prop file into sd card or the phone memory
- connect phone to pc and copy files over
- look up and download SVADeodexerForArtx(32 or 64 based on your system), you also need to have java installed on your machine.
- extract the SVADeodexerForArtxxx to your c: drive, and create a folder named /system insides, and post the files from your phone inside that
- your final folder will look something like this : c:/SVADeodexerForArtxxx/system/ (app, framework,priv-app) and build.prop file
- remember to move the Semcxxx app folder from /framework into /app folder or it won't be deodexed
- run SVADeodexerForArtxxx and point it to your /system folder, it will show you your android version, tick the checkbox for app, framework, priv-app, hit the start button
- it'll run and once done the log file will open and tell you how many were deodexed.
- the deodexed folders will be in the base folder, make sure to return the Semcxxx folder from the /apps to /framework
- create a flashable zip and flash these folders back on your rom
now your rom is deodexed

@ticktock666
Thanks for the steps.
These steps looks to be from older version. Anybody with 6.0 Sony MM steps?
@ticktock666
There are certain other folders such as odex.app, odex.framework, odex.priv-app...what about these? These folders also contains similar odex files for app, framework and pri-app...

I'm not sure, but here's some of the stuff I noticed during the deodex process :
- I used to get the files using adb pull command directly to pc after a fresh rom install (remember to install a pre-rooted rom), but I did not get any odex files with the apps this way, so deodexing didn't work.
- after pulling the files from the device using a root explorer, each app had the odex files with them inside the correct folders.
- about odex.xxx folders and odex.xxx.sqsh files : they contain an exact duplicate of the odex files, no idea why (you can extract the sqsh files, they're basically special compressed odex file container sort of thing), which means the rom contains 3 versions of the same odex file, makes no sense.....
after deodexing and flashing the deodexed rom/files, I deleted odex.xxx folders and odex.xxx.sqsh files, and my rom works fine, fully rooted and with xposed. My current issue is that now if I browse into /data/app on the root of the drive I'll find an odexed version of every app I have installed, be it a user app or system app, and it's driving me crazy.

sorry buddy, but although just the deodexed files from my rom should work perfectly (it's only the apks, no other settings from the rom are included), it is near impossible for me to upload anywhere due to slow & unstable connection and power situation, since none of the hosting services support upload resume on their apps/sites.

sorry for the late reply, haven't been checking much recently.
now about those sqsh files, I've tried extracting them, and they seem to contains a 2nd copy of the odex files, not sure how they work, but after deodexing my rom I simply deleted them, and everything worked normally.

I don't have the latest rom yet (not released for 6502), but when you go into your /system/app folder using a root explorer, do you see "arm" folder inside any of the installed apps ? maybe they changed something in 291, and now they only use sqsh files, also what does the log from the app says when you deodex the rom says ? it should say something like "300 apps deodexed, 10 apps already deodexed" or something like that.
