[Q] amazfit pace with microg? Is it Wear OS - Amazfit

Hi,
My trusty old pebble is sadly dying and I'm looking for a new smartwatch.
Problem is, I'm running microg instead of gapps and microg does not work with android Wear.
Do the amazfit watches (I'm looking at the pace) actually run Wear OS? Or is it a proprietary rom like pebble uses?
Is anyone using amazfit watches with microg or completely without gapps?
Any input appreciated!

So not technically wear os... So it should work.
Does it use the wear os app or just the amazfit app?

The amazfit pace has nothing to do with Android Wear.
Is a 5.1 Android ROM.
It uses a MIPS CPU architecture so not every Android app will work on the watch.
If you want, give me a link to the app you would like and I will test it on my pace.

Thanks for offering.
It's not that I'm afraid the watch won't run something it's that my phone doesn't connect with "normal" android watches due to me not using gapps.
But seen as the watch uses a completely different system I should be fine!

Oh, ok.
I'm planning to switch to Android pie, when I'll do, I can try to connect to the watch before installing any gapps
But it's gonna take some time, not this week for sure, hopefully I'll get it done by next week or so.... If you can wait.

This question doesn't make sense at all... The watch itself, as explained before, does not run or need Gapps. But to use the watch with your phone (notifications, sync data, etc), you must install Amazfit Watch app on your phone, and if you don't use a Google account for login (there are many other options) then it doesn't require PlayServices. You can download the app from Mi app store, the Chinese version most probably doesn't require PlayServices for sure.

@SM26 would you be able to test 'OneWheelWear - Free Version' ?

[Q] Apps for G Watch

Is there anyone who is working on apps for the LG G watch? I'm thinking about buying this smartwatch but at this point it can't do much things. It's only good for reading notifications and using Google now. I would like to see apps like on the Sony SW2 to read my e-mails or use a calculator maybe to send messages (voice typing not supports Hungarian language).

As far as I understand it, most apps tie into a built in API and are able to communicate with the Wear device without the need for any app to be installed on the Watch, they simply know a Wear device is connected and send the relevant info. We may not need to install any apps directly on the G watch.

And then why is the s400? I think nobody will play games on his watch.
They said that the Watch will be open to third-party apps dev. So yes, there will be apps, that's also why there's 4 gigs.
Top tip: When searching the Play store for apps, use the search string "android wear" (WITH quotes). Don't rely on the minimal selection that the Wear app itself returns.

[Q] Any Must-Have Apps?

My unit should be coming today, so II made a list of apps I could download?
Are these any good?
Missing anything?
1. My Script Stylus (Beta)
2. Photoshop Touch
3. Push Bullet
4. Papyrus
5. Commandr
6. Mobdro (not in Google play)
7. All in One Toolbox

Are you interested in the hidden secret codes? If so, install this app: Phone INFO ★Samsung★
Open app > Menu > 'Secret Codes'. That will list ALL secret codes available in your phone.

The MyScript Stylus not is necessary because when you use the pen in textbox opens one option to you use it!
I prefer the "MyScript Smart Note" have more options with the pen.
: Bom:
The others app I don't know of. I Go test them.
I always think "this time I will use S Note becuase it's so nice" but end up using LectureNotes for writing - it is my must have app number one for all Note devices. Although for Note 4 it requires a bit of configuration (for example thicker pens are a must for such resolution), thankfully it's easy to do.
For me is the optical reader app from note 2 the nr.1 app of the must have's!!
I tried the port for Note 3 and it works perfectly

There are a lot of features missing in this version. I wish, a developer ports the S4 optical reader app for our Note 4. It is one of the most versatile apps, in my opinion.
I just got my GN4, I previously had the HTC One M7. I was using Lockdown Pro to secure my contacts, messaging settings, etc... But I discovered a new app, Fingersecurity by Rick Cephas. It uses the GN4'S fingerprint scanner to secure your selected apps (pin code is optional as well). It's available free in the Playstore. I give it 5 stars!

I second this! I hate the finger print lock for the homescreen as I usually fail at least 3 times to get a good read and that makes opening it while driving or multitasking horrendous. With this app, I am able to lock my private photos through finger print and nothing else. You basically download this app and then tell it which apps on the phone will require a finger print scan to be activated.

Developing apps for the Amazfit Pace

Hi, i'm thinking about buying one Amazfit Pace and i discovered that it is possible to install some 3rd part apps, my first thought was to try to develop some personal apps that i can use to control some of my smart-thingamabobs that i have at home (Mostly MQTT related), and there's very little information about development of apps to the Pace, i found 2 or 3 useful related threads here.
Before i buy it i have some questions, if you already did it (or attempted to) maybe you can answer me some of them
1) Apparently you have to develop targeting API 21 and MIPS architecture, is that correct?
2) Are there any information about the screen specs?
3) Is the Pace recognized as an ADB device in Android Studio or do i have to compile and manually install the app each time i modify something during development? (Considering i'm using PaceFied ROM)
4) If you have developed some app to your Pace, can you share your source?
Thanks in advance
1. Yes
2. https://support.amazfit.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000661467-Amazfit-Pace-Specs so it's 320x200
3. ADB is working fine with Android studio
4. I only tried to compile the TabataTimer, then I didn't have any time left ( have a live outside of development ).

I was trying as well to run something, first I tried a simple implementation of Google Maps, which failed because it depeneds on Google play service which even after installing, doesn't work. So now I'm trying with Mapbox and some other libraries.... Hopefully I can get somewhere.
hope i'm not hijacking the thread, but has anybody found any way to get readings from the sensors, eg the GPS??

Not at all, i'm curious to find this stuff out too.
Can't the GPS reading be done like it's done on a normal phone? Using a LocationListener?
Yes locationlistener is working.
Unfortunatelly the watch goes into sleepmode way before there is a Lock.

isn't there a way to keep it from going to sleepmode? like when there is an activity running?
what I would be really interested in actually is being able to write another type of activity, specifically sailing, so need to display speed in knots, display direction, and some other values that come from GPS data... any thoughts?

Amazfit Stratos and Mi Home app

Hello there, could someone tell me, how to pair them? I Mean the phone one with the watch ?? Also I have smart scale from Xiaomi, is there any chance that i would be able too see everything on my watch ?
I would really like to know this too. If someone has a solution please let us know.
Where i can find mi home apk installed at chinese ROM? English ROM doesnt have this app by default

No one answered, so I will give my experience with Pace: it only works with the CN firmware, and you must use CN Amazfit app too, or at least AmazMod (it's a modded version of CN Amazfit with Strava sync and other neat features). I don't know how it works exactly because I don't have any MiHome appliance, but I know the CN version have the apps and allows you to sync and control some of the devices using the watch.
use MiFit to pair the smartwatch and MiHome for the scale

Hello guys!
I found that one Russian guy released a video showing that Amazfit Stratos works with Mi app home on a stock ROM.
I used his instructions and wow it's works!!!
This modified apk could be installed directly from PC to your Amazfit Stratos.
1. What you will need is just install software for PC and app itself.
2. Install drivers if you need.
3. Then use your cable to connect the phone
4. Install apk on your phone using this software
5. Restart the watch
6. Be sure that your Amazfit is not in airplane mode and connected to the phone.
7. Open Mi home app at your Amazfit Stratos watch
8. In your phone Mi home app press add new device and find Amazfit Pace even if you have Amazfit Stratos
9. Phone app will try to configure the app on the watch and you will be able to use it
10. First time you need to configure on Phones Mi home app what Measurements will be shown on your watch and what devices you will need to configure
10. After you will need to press sync button to send the settings to phone
11. The whatch Mi home app needs phone to be connected in order to control your home devices
12. Every first 5-10 minutes after each phone-watxh reconnection it workes with some lags as watch receiving the info from devices.
Kindly ask you not to copy direct link here to the modified App so he will get necessary viewings on his YouTube page.

Of course future devices will have to use the Huawei app store because they also lose Play Store
I think that most important part, except security patches, is Google Play Store itself and maybe Youtube access (which is kind of monopoly).
In may personal opinion, supplying a lot of phones with AOSP based Andriod to developed market like EU can lead to new law, enforcing Google to open access to Play Store and maybe even strip all unnecessary services from it. Google has already 3rd antitrust fine from UE so I think there are good chances for that in the future.
Problem is that consumer will need to unlock bootloader and have root access to benefit that hypothetical possibility. Or practically install GApps without waiting. Giving easy root access in developer menu will not be problem for some manufacturers.
I only wish Chinese brands invest in some open source OS and services located outside of China (maybe in some neutral "Switzerland"). This will give them more trust from the customers and governments. Developing special closed OS is road to nowhere in my opinion (or maybe road to China mainland. They should stick to mainstream android as close as possible and leave special experiments for the competitors.
