Stupid Logic of ColorOS - Oppo Find X Questions & Answers

I am using Find X China Version in Australia (Yes, sorry i think i should get a international version), hardware and design is awesome but the ColorOS is quite stupid to do simple thing right.. mainly the notification function
"Double Tap to wake up screen" Yes, it has double tap function to wake up your screen but it's only allow you to do this when the Always-on display is off. WTF..
"Apps Notification on lock screen" Yes, when you turn on the Always-on display to make sure you won't miss sth.... and Yes, you will found out some App notification is missing (like WhatsApp, FB Message, G-mail..)
"Notification Light effect" Yes, i don't why it's only flash 2 times when new message comes in, yes only 2 times to let you know you have notification... WTF...
Great device with Worst OS ever. :good:

Yes the worst software, makes it almost unusable. I sold mine week later as I couldn’t live with software, at a loss of course.
Phone hardware design is fantastic.
I’m looking to buy international version as I like the phone.
The early reviews don’t mention these restrictions so I was suckered in.

Why is your SGS2 disappointing may i ask?
are you sure it does not work? because i heard the original galaxy s does indeed wake up if you have an alarm set and you turn the phone off. the alarm will still go off. not all android phones do this. only nokia and samsung symbian phones historically have this feature, but i remember samsung brought it to its galaxy s android phone.
May I ask why you not just try????????????????????????? FYI my SGS II does not ring when turned off. I think Nokia phones actually are some off the few phones that ring when turned off.

My Galaxy S's alarm never worked if the phone was off, and from what I remember on the SGS forum no-one else's did either.
Personally I put the phone in flight mode at night - alarm works fine.

I am disappointed because I have so many errors on my phone. For example random reboots and crashes, yellow tinted display, and some features I was looking forward to don't work. But I still think it is the best phone in the world today!

Wrong the alarm on both my last smartphones worked when the phone was off, Nokia N80 and Samsung i8910. It's android smartphones that are the problem.....

Whether those phones count as smartphones or not is quite debatable. I've never heard anyone call the Nokia N95/N97 models smartphones and they're probably the most well equipped "dumbphones" to date.

Reading this forum makes me think twice on buying this phone... In 4 days it will be available at my orange store but reading about all these problems... First of all, what do you mean by not ringing when it's off?!? This is absurd! From my nokia 3310 to my present Samsung Omnia 2 all the phones had/has this SIMPLE feature! Why the sgs2 doesn't have it?I'm used to charge my phone at night(turned off) and get the wake up ring in the morning Second, random shut off??? This is at least a deal breaker! Third, camera focusing problems??? Display problems?
Question: Are we talking about an expensive phone or a cheap one ?

1) No android smartphone can use the alarm when it's off. I don't think the iThing can either...
2) Random reboots or shut off??? What reboots? Consider user error, or people overclocking to stupid levels, I've yet to see one in 3 weeks.
3) Camera focussing issues??? Best camera I've ever had on a phone. Rivals a high end digital compact for at-a-glance sharpness
4) Display problems? If you know what a SAMOLED is, you should be fine. No issues here AFAIK
Don't bother with the topics about problems turning you off. Think of a random product, go to some forum where they talk about the product, and you'll see enough issues.

geez, set the alarm for 2 minutes later then now, shut the phone off. if it goes off then it works. seems pretty simple

There's no need to be angry, especially since you haven't bought the phone yet, and if you're upset about these problems (the random reboot is a faulty unit btw, so if it happens justget it replaced), you should definitely not buy it.
Or you shouldn't get a smartphone for that matter, since the more complicated a device is, the more likely you are to run into problems. Maybe the iPhone has less faults, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't ring when it's off either, or you could look at nokia's feature phones like the E52, N95 or N97, which will also be cheaper.

1. True
2. Yes, this happens to me every now and then. Also a whole bunch of other people have this issue, whether it be faulty RAM chips, loose batteries or generally bad flashing.
3. The camera is good for a phone, but it doesn't and will never rival a real camera, due to the small and cheap lens, lack of optical zoom and small sensor.
4. Hearf of the yellow tint issue? Every SGS2 to date has this, more or less. There's yet to be posted a single photo of a display without this issue in low ambient light and low backlight.
Sent from my disappointing GT - I9100
@BlueScreenJunky not that angry as it might led the impression ...but to be honest I am a little disapointed because I've been waiting for this phone to be release for some time now.
About iPhone...I like the looks but that's all. I hate restrictive companies so I cannot pay for a company's product to be able to use it only their way. I like freedom I pay, then it's mine to do whatever I want to do with it.
Nokia N97 is a pain (no offense to those who own one)...but one of my colleges had it...it's a realllyyy slow device.
Oh, and I don't want to be a snob, but money is no issue in this case...it becomes annoying to me when I pay for something that it is said to be great and in the end I realize that is less than average or it is faulty because the company who produced it didn't pay enough attention to quality.
@prodygee you are right, but then again judging by the price of the device and by the most reviews that say it's the best phone at the moment ... these hardware problems (shut offs, display problems etc) should not exist.
Anyway, for the moment I talk based on what I read...so it's not that relevant.
Next week I'll go and test it myself in real life. Being a human and since we humans are known to be able to adapt to almost anything I can adapt myself to the lack of wake-up ring and some other minor problems(except display and shut off prbls.)

Titan II - issues I'm having

Phone details are in my signature. I reset the phone right out of the box as I always do when new phones or after doing a software upgrade.
I've noticed that marketplace isn't notifying me of app updates available.
When I buy something, it keeps says I have to buy over and over again and never lets me download the app even though I get the email confirmation from MS.
The on-screen keyboard, at the password screen or even when I go to start a text, there is a full 1 second delay or more in the first letter/number I push, always. Is this a defect in the touch screen or software?
My old WP7 had none of these issues.
Anyone else?

Take it back and get another one. At a store they should swap it right there and then. It could be software related like every phone at launch has issues or a serious hardware problem

Yes so I could sync all my pics, video, etc.
I already have the device setup exactly how I want it, I'd hate to return it when there is no backup/restore option in Zune. Dang it.
If its a software issue we can rule out Factory Reset... and that Im aware of there hasn't been an RUU leak for 8112 for the titan2 so flashing it is impossible.
Was the issue present from the get go? Like the moment It was turned on before setting up anything?

After turning on my phone out of the box, I went straight and did a hard reset. So I noticed everything after that. Marketplace not notifying of app updates and the touchscreen keyboard issue yes. I only tried buying that app after reinstalling all the other apps I had bought for my previous WP so I can't say about that issue.
I think I will just hang onto the handset until the Tango update is released and hope that resolves the issues.
UPDATE: Looks like marketplace is now notifying me of app updates correctly now and the app purchase I made has no gone through. I guess something was maybe going on with MS's side of things. I'll just deal with the keyboard/dial pad delay thing and hope Tango fixes it, it's only delayed on the first character I enter when I start typing anyway.

A temporary fix is just to turn off the "key press" sound. Once sound is off, there is no delay. Same issues with the Focus S and my Titan 2.

Thank you, that worked! I wonder why some windows phone have this issue and some don't? Perhaps the quality & latency of the nand flash? I have noticed this phone is a little slower than my Arrive was.
I had the exact same keyboard / touch screen delay issue. Turning off the keybaord sound definitely seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks.
I had a Lumia 900 and trades it for the HTC Titan II because of the camera issues with the Lumia. The HTC is better in my opinion but the tap delay issue was a real pain and I did not experience it with the Lumia.
I'll give it a shot, too as I have the delay. I also swapped out my Lumia for a Titan 2 and very much prefer it.
I have exactly same issue on my titan II.
I used focus before titan II. But focus hadn't this issue.
I think it can be fixed but now I feel inconvenience a lot.

i too had the keyboard issue, but have mostly gotten used to it, but it would be nice to have it fixed while keeping the keyboard sound.
another issue im having is more hardware related- when i press lightly, on the edges of the screen, there is a "glow" around the area i press like on a pc when you touch the screen. i can also feel the screen around the edges bending slightly, like the screen is loose. anybody else have this?
i have never had this on anything else with a touchscreen- ive had 2 iphones, a samsung gs2 skyrocket, and an asus transformer prime

That is probably because of the unibody design they've opted for. This issue is much similar to what annoyingly cheap hardware feeling I get when I press hard on "Windows" softkey. You can feel the spring and at times it makes that cracking sound too. But from what I've read around, as time passes on with these unibody designs, the back case get lose and so does the front chasis. Probably that "glow" you are referring to is due to lose screen chasis?

no one else has this? because the phone is brand new and did this out of the box
I'm actually having this problem as well new right out of the box. But also its not only the keyboard sound but sound in games as well. When I play games its really glitchy as the game will pause for a split second when there is a long enough gap in sound.
I bought the phone new in box unopend off craigslist for my girlfriend so im not sure if I can get this warrantied. Additionally I tried flashing the stock rom like people have been suggesting but with no luck the issue is still present.
Its a shame that such a nice phone could have such a frustrating problem right out of the box. My first gen wp the HTC Arrive never had this issue. Yet I really haven't seen much online or a fix expect whatever has been said on this thread.
Can my girlfriend just simply activate the phone and take it to at&t and get it replaced without proof that she bought it at the store?

Smart Stay?

I've noticed that the smart stay feature does not work at all on my phone. I'm talking to the point where it's like the feature is turned off but is actually on. I never see that little eye icon flashing up top and my phone is always locking on me when I'm trying to use it. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix for this or do I need a software update? It's really a shame because this was one of the features I thought wasn't too gimicky and actually useful.
I purchased the phone through AT&T's pre-order online.

Just to be sure, you do have the setting turned on? I haven't used the feature very much myself, I'm on CM10, but on my girlfriends I had to manually go in settings and turn it on for it to work on hers.
Yep, have the featured turned on in the settings.
Yeah, like id_twin posted are you sure it is checked?
For me the feature never worked all that great anyways. I just knew when an eye flashed in my status bar it was time to touch the screen because it would be going to sleep. lol.
Edit: Never mind you already answered while I was typing. You didn't change any other settings that could have conflicted with the smart stay feature perhaps? Not sure there is any just throwing it out there.

I was starting to guess that. I wear glasses a lot too so I was guessing maybe it had a hard time picking my eyes up from that?
Are you holding the phone in landscape...and possibly covering the front cam?
The light is the key for me.
In my bedroom, may be 10% working. In Living room (plenty of lights) works every time :good:

to buy or not to buy poco f1 ?!

so who thought that he can buy a flagship mobile with 300 $ ?! i think no expected that !!
you watch the reviews and the mobile looks like a mobile on steroids with 4000 mah then you buy the mobile and discover thats not the whole truth !!
the mobile lacks on the software and the hardware quality control !!
you are gonna face new problems that arent even found on cheap mobiles and were taken for granted before .. who could imagine buying a mobile with touch issues nowadays ??!!
anyway thats my list of problems that i want to share with you so you dont get deceived by reviews on the net :
i have touch problems .. it is not that severe but it prevents me from writing flawlessly and i have to spent double the time in correcting keyboard spelling mistakes .. i checked the display and it is the tianma fhd nt36672a display
i have other problems as well :
1. the display produce text red ghosting while scrolling text ( it could be minimized by fiddling with color but mobile colors will be messed up and the problem is still there partly )
2. there is quite a lag when dealing with camera zoom via touch and it is considered a massive lag not seen on cheap mobiles what about 845 sd processor
3. youtube hdr colors are washed out
4. hdr hevc 10bit files used to play flawlessly on embeded media player with correct colors but after update it turned out to be washed out as youtube hdr videos
5. light bleeding from lower edge is still there causing a bright edge
6. beside netflix and amazon problems not playing hd
Still have warranty? Have it replace.. mine works fine(no screen bleed, ghosting, etc).
When this phone launched at such aggressive price, everyone knew all along that the phone will have it's cons. Still the price and configuration makes it a fair deal in my opinion. There are few issues yes but nothing you can't shrug off.
Do not buy it, at least not until the touch problem is fixed.
I thought I would jump into this thread and ask my question...
So I have a Note 9 and it's... grand... it's just boring. I miss being able to really get under the hood and mess around with the phone. With the F1 I'll be able to do just that plus have a few quid in my back pocket after selling the Note 9.
The only things stopping me is the F1 is technically just a bit worse in most aspects (the screen being my major concern) and Samsung One UI looks interesting.
What you guys think?
I don't have any touch problems on mine.. but i have an annoying lockscreen notification issue.
While the phone is locked i receive a notification and it shows in the lockscreen. Then i unlock the phone without clicking/opening the notification. After that i lock the phone. When i wake up the phone and check my lockscreen, the notifications disappear. is there any way to fix the bug? it's really annoying. Please help guys. I'm on the latest stable update for poco f1. Global stable 10.0.6.0. I also use the default theme.

just a joke, mate.
There are a lot of bugs on MIUI and things are gonna get worse. I sold the device when I had the chance, sorry for you.
I don't know why are you guys complaining, you knew about some issues and cosmetic disadvantages but I'm extremely satisfied with the phone. I got none of the problems listed above, for sure it's not Note 9 or OnePlus 6T but those phones are more or less about bragging rights. Just my 2 cents. Don't forget to try unlock Note Snapdragon or Huawei's bootloader
PS: Using Lineage firmware and it's more than I could hope for. :good::good::good:
My only complaint is that the stock software is absolute sh*t and you can't even unlock your own device, you have to ask permission for it, what the hell Xiaomi...
This makes me not recommend the Poco at all. If anyone is in doubt, just go for an OnePlus.

i own oneplus one. since day 1, the Oneplus One was awesome
but to be offended by the unlocking req by xiaomi is just childish
a lot of companies ships their phones with locked bootloader for ecurity purposes
those in china, their biggest supporters; will just use it as it is. so it is their priority
it is the same business strategy as Apple did in the USA
after asking permission to unlock, will have to wait for 72 hours on the bind device to unlock it
this is pretty safe.
MIUI is (if you are referring to it as stock software) quite heavy on the UI but it does comes with a lot of built in features that people (other people, yes) are quite fond off. so yeah, this phone is for everyone, not to deliver for just one person request
just heads on to their website, and request for features. done
well i am not nagging here i am pointing to real problems facing users .. also i am not debating is it worth the 300 $ or not because clearly it is worth it in my opinion .. but mobiles are not just hardware ??!! you cannot release a phone with too much software problems and bugs ??!!
also no consistency in fixing software problems .. you fix one problem 10 more arises ??!!
i just want to know whats is wrong with this company ??!!

well i agree as a starter but to have it replaced you must know the cause of the problem first .. am not gonna keep going and replacing the phone for like 10 times .. so xiaomi needs to address this at first .. it is not me alone who complains of software and hardware issues !!

For hardware issues(screen bleeding), it must be factory defect, so a warranty can replace.
For software issue(latency touch, notifications in notch), the are addressing the issue with their latest MIUI 10 beta 8.11.29
And I think Xiaomi are more focused on their flagship, the MI8.

Thanks, but those files are not on phone (in that location anyway). Either way it's past the point of compromise, if I wanted forced "features" I'd be using a ****ing iphone. Yeah, it didn't look too pretty. That be a big deal for me. There may be other solutions though. Finding work arounds generally takes time... one reason I almost never update or upgrade the software/firmware. I have almost no issues even after 2.5 years. It's 99.9% playtime, now.
One reason I run Galaxy N10+'s is I like One UI customization, at least for Android 9, 10 is more troublesome, 11 even more so and 12 is a mess. I can't really recommend any of the Samsung flagships after the N10+; lacking features, not well balanced or designed or power efficient and expensive. Sammy didn't $kip on the price tag
