LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

As a general rule, dirty flashing over a different ROM (even it has the same core base) should be avoided.
Not sure about bugs, as I'm yet to test the ROM.

lel, this is pretty much not my work, as the ones who began this, if I'm not wrong, were @@ki and @subhrajyotisen, the last one has left. What I did was to help fix some bugs like camera issues, then fix HDR (thanks to @Alberto97's old shims patches) and bring enforcing SELinux (which is now looking for some tweaking, as I've surely allowed too much).
Oh BTW, this night, I've been patching the kernel with some changes from exp5 branch of my little experimental kernel for Nougat and applying pretty much everything from squid_oreo . A new build is on its way.
EDIT: Oh, and there's a little workaround for the WebView crashes that I decided to give a shot, which is, instead of using Jelly browser as the default with its implementations, just switch to AOSP's Browser2, and, in a test build I flashed, it seems to be working just fine! And it served as a great way to justify the removal of Jelly, I just hate it.

14/10 - Use AOSP WebView to reduce crashes and lags, solve all remaining denials after updates.
15/10 - Updated kernel to match most of squid's oreo patches, included some missing useful patches from exp5.
First, thank you very much for your work ... I tried the Rom and it worked most things ... Except the most important one for me ... Making and receiving calls ... The calls come and go but they do not hear me and I do not listen to the person ... Could you fix that please?
@facuarmo Is this stable enough for daily use? I saw someone mentioned that calls don't work, is this a common problem? And other than that, is everything else pretty much good to go? I'm considering flashing this here

I'm glad you liked the ROM, about the issues you're experiencing, please tell me more about your device. Have you dirty flashed on top of an old build? What about just trying to call again? I'm asking cause no one else reported such an issue.
I'll be waiting for your reply!

Hello! I have not yet tested this ROM (LineageOS 16), but seeing our friend's comment, I also had this same problem with a PixysOS.
During a call the microphone and sound will not work.
In the case of PixysOS I did flash with wipe system, data ... everything.
Tried with stock, pico and no gapps
Thanks for the effort and good work!
The ROM is just awesome! No bugs at all. Calls are working for me. Great work! A very fast ROM with no lag. This is my daily driver for 2 days and it is perfect.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good pie ROM for harpia.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.
I changed my LCD density and now the navbar looks weird, what gives?
This is currenly an issue that we are aware of and addressing. For now after you changed density reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.

WiFi
Camera
Video/audio playback

Bluetooth/A2DP
I'm not sure about the Nfc, I expect your feedback on that one.
However, don't expect miracles; the device is somewhat slow because its HW is a bit outdated.
It is 6.0.x, though.
I need this one, too.
flashed it and saw you really took a 3.4 kernel for this. cool.
Thanks for this! Everything looks good. NFC is fine although, and I'm not sure if this usually applies, the first picture I tried to transfer wouldn't as it said the file was too large. Used a smaller one and it worked fine. It's quite zippy with the minimal number of apps I've installed.
I was hoping we would at least get credits for our 3.4 kernel and device trees though not to mention that I stated that I'd rather not see our not yet stable, wip and dev only 3.4 kernel included in ROMs yet, but I'm not even trying anymore... it's not my problem if someone can't charge their device anymore or has to disconnect and reconnect the battery to give life to it again.
I'm unable to apply a theme. FC's each time.
Your history is preserved to the letter in the kernel and device tree, so everybody can see and appreciate the work you've done. Does GPL licence require anything else?

no. but respect does. this answer is a pure smack in the face to someone who took months of work mainly alone to get 3.4 working for this device and this really deserves more!
Certainly appreciate the build but just to let you know, there is no sound at all. Also, with the 3.4 kernel, there is no power to USB OTG and my tab would not charge as @Ziyan stated. I've already tried Ziyan's MM rom with 3.4 and knew I would have to disconnect/reconnect the battery to get charging back.
I failed to read your entire OP and didn't know you were using 3.4 kernel, so that's on me. Regarding the sound, @srisurya95 compiled some early MM builds and they also had no sound.
Hopefully, you'll be able to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Mike T

Yeah, as always when installing a new rom. I just tested the sound in settings for media etc. and there was no sound. I didn't bother to test any further due to the issues I had with the 3.4 kernel.
Btw, just for the record I used the Banks Dynamic gapps linked in the OP.

Anybody with a rudimentary knowledge of Github can see what's been done by who just by looking at the commits, so stating "great thanks to whoever" is surpluss to requirements.
All one needs to do is preserve the commit history and everything is visible and all the credits are given.

Thank you for your replies but at this time it's a moot point. With the charging and USB OTG issues relative to 3.4 kernel, I won't use a rom with 3.4 until @Ziyan and team say it's ready for prime time.
As an aside, let it be known I do appreciate the work by the OP and the DU team. They make an excellent rom.

No sound is the reason why I haven't released my build
Sound on mine is just fine...
I think that the main problem that this 3.4 issue happened is because the kernel was 'released' a month ago in an unstable form. I think that if something was released, it should be fixed to a usable state ASAP since errors like this are bound to happen. Other developers didn't get their name stamped everywhere because they ported a kernel either so I don't get why this should be an issue... (I don't mean to disrespect Ziyan as I really respect him and his work. I'm just not very happy with the unfinished 3.4 kernel that is out to the public and currently not being actively worked on. Porting a kernel on your own is a great feat that we must all respect but that doesn't earn you the right to have your name everywhere I think.)

Just flash the latest supersu version through twrp recovery and you're fine, 2.78-SR1 is the latest one.
Yesterday i have tried to instal CM14, but during the initial settings (nation selection, wifi, etc) it show me "google play services stopped", and i couldn't go on and start to use the phone, so I came back to CM13.
Someone else find this problem?

do you use old tycoo kernel september build? i can't find new build for tycoo kernel.
I thought, its better to keep kernel update with the ROM, which is why im not using old tycoo kernel.

F.A.Q.
ROOT! ROOT! Give me root or i'll die!!! Where root is???
Root has been removed from LineageOS builds, to allow people who are not interested in root access to enjoy apps such as PokemonGo or banking apps. A zip to re-enable root will be provided here. Other packages such as SuperSu, magisk or others are not supported and may cause problems
Why no nightly this week?
Build failed. Check again in 7 days
When do I have to wipe data?
You must wipe data only when you're switching from another rom or migrating to Snapshot branch from Nightly and vice versa. You don't need to wipe data when you update in the same release channe (this applies to 13.0 -> 14.1 upgrades too)
Will you add <insert awesome feature here>?
I won't. If you write it, submit a commit to gerrit, where it will be reviewed.
The LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

- Proximity Sensor Proximity gives the finger for switching off screen in calls but works.(under investigation)
- Video Recording fixed but sometimes camera force closes .(under investigation) Fixed
- MTP fixed 13/06/17
- Volte Testers needed for this to be fixed. Closing this down until we get some
If you have Volte support and you can test please respond to this thread.
Shout out to Demetris and Firelord for their tireless work. Also shoutout to Magus, Alekdev, Huskied, and everyone else (including myself) who have been working tirelessly with the devs and testing. This phone is not dead! Once we get a stable LOS release, I will be learning the trade of developing and I will be working on some releases as well.
i don't have the idol3 anymore, but man, this is so good news even for me! i feel so happy for you guys, to see this phone still alive, and now you can build infinite roms based on LineageOS, really, have fun with the idol3!
Thank you guys !!!! Will try it first on stock, then I'll push the gapps (on clean install) to test it out. You guys are legends !
And may I ask: How can we get supported by the official community ?
For gapps and the su addon, you need the arm 64 versions. Not the arm versions.
Everything works except the camera. I can take a photos without problems but it can't record video. I tried with google camera all versions and didn't work, any ideas? Btw thanks a lot for this rom ?

In call proximity sensor doesn't seem to be working. Neither is creating a lock for the lockscreen. The settings would crash when I tried to make one. It seems to be similar to the bugs in lineage 13.0
I can live without a lockscreen, but I kinda need the proximity sensor.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg.

Wooooaahh, waited for this from long time! CONGO DEV!
I would like to mention that neither stricted or I have the device which makes development a bit harder since we are working blind here any donations are appreciated and will help in firther development
Congrats devs
Everything except the cam and fingerprint reader as mentionned is working pretty well :good:
In general, the animations/transitions have some latency but it's ok for an alpha build.
Note for users that iris recognition isn't working because of AOSP limitation for now.
If you want to test it safely, you can use this dual boot guide : https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/patcher-dualboot-multiboot-samsung-t3683203
YAAAY finally!!!
I hope that this doesnt get EOL-ed after the first build gho like the other aosp roms and we get it to be somewhat stable. Thanks guys
Congrats @Stricted and @Ivan_Meler ?
I have doubted if this would ever happen but seems like finally succeeded. Many AOSP fans (or TouchWiz haters) will be glad to see this build.
All the best for the future?
first of all: thank you devs for taking on our beloved device!:good:
since open source is the only true sauce, i cannot wait see the progress.
to help you there:
- all the things Alek7 said
- USB-C to HDMI not working(NOT Dex mode, just screenmirroring through cable)
- the in-screen "homebutton": when device is locked you can press it and feel the feedback, but no action. when screen is on -> no response at all.
- wi-fi not working: when i switch it on it turns off again after a second. no amount of clean and/or dirty flashes solves it. flashing different modem versions doesnt help either. only solution is flashing a wifi fix from yash92dusters' lightrom. i cant find it there anymore since it was an older build. funnily enough i had the exact same issue on deluxerom 9.3 and not on lightrom, for what the fix was intended for.
thanks again. once the camera is working i can finally stick to LOS.
Thank you for working on this! I had given up hope that N8 would ever get Lineage

I tested last night, had no issues with WiFi (although my test was only for about an hour). The only things I found not working are the ones reported (camera, fingerprint and home button wake up), very good build considering the first one.
Unfortunately for me, camera is a deal breaker so I'm back to my usual for now but will test each release.
Hey guys. Its true. The Wifi problem exists only for some people. Like i said, i didnt have that problem on lightrom even though the fix was made for it. Unfortunately it is deleted from that post and i cant figure out how to make attachements to post it here
Edit: if u have that issue it appears immediately or not at all.
You guys are nuts, thank you so much for bringing true AOSP-like ROMs for the Note8.

I have not tested it, but I do think so. The strange thing is that VoLTE works for one of my LineageOS users fine in the latest build (even after rebooting), but doesn't work in PE-CAF. Very weird issue

ROM is smooth but VoLTE is not working. You may save yourself from trouble if VoLTE is essential Fn.
Update: It felt way more responsive than LOS 16.
Bug report: File move/copy from Device to PC does not work over usb transfer.
There are a few bugs/missing features that I think are worth reporting. First of there is no option to add a fingerprint to unlock the phone, also fingerprint gestures don't seem to work. Besides that, I've had some problems with GPS signal being lost and regained every minute or so. Besides that everything is working fine! Keep up the good work, and thank you for this release!
Edit: Also fingerprint gestures are not working

Hi, actually I'm not sure. All i did was download the rom and flash it through twrp. How can I check if I'm using oreo firmware? And if I'm not how can I install it? I'm actually trying to find it on google, but I haven't come across a solution.
Edit: Found it, will try installing the oreo firmware. That was a huge oversight from me.
Edit2: Yep, worked. Thanks a ton.

Well I obviously wouldn't call it fixed if it only worked for one boot.
Also, since it hasn't been tested on Carbon, I've removed it from the post.
VoLTE is confirmed to be fixed on LineageOS and Pixel Experience CAF.
