Hey guys, recently switched to AT&T from verizon 2 months ago. The guy at AT&T typed in the APNs and all is good besides poor reception at my house. Last night i turned off mobile data to see if my reception to send a text got better. Now I cant get mobile data to turn back on... It says add mobile service please contact customer service and gives the verizon customer service number. Any ideas on how i can get it back on? I've tried everything i can think of besides activating it on verizon again....
You might need to manually enter your APN since this is a Verizon device running on AT&T. Also if you are using an AT&T SIM you might need to input an IMEI for AT&T to get back on. These are the issues you run into trying to use CDMA/Unlock phone for one carrier (unlocked does not mean full functionality on all networks, if that was the case there would be only a single model of the V10) on a GSM carrier.

I did manually enter the APN... It senses not connected to VZW and then says to call VZW customer service... might have to activate on verizon again turn on data and switch sim?
The same exact thing happened to me a month ago
Go to: Settings>Backup & Reset>Network Settings Reset
it will turn your data back on by default but you might have to put your APN info back in
hope this helps
youre amazing!
I switched my sprint s8+ to metropcs which is a prepaid plan running under the tmobile network.
I lost features such as wificalling and LTE calling. Metropcs does offer wifi calling, but the option completely disappeared from my phone.
Also, how do I check if I have the updated software version. What should it be? I had to factor reset my phone so I am not sure if it's running the original android software now.
Any ideas? Would the best thing to do involve just flashing tmobile firmware over my phone? If so, how?
Thank you.
OK, so I was with T-Mobile forever, and I bought this phone from them at launch. I decided to switch over to MetroPCS by T-Mobile because it's cheaper, so I paid off my phone then unlocked it (Even though I didn't need too, the Metro SIM worked in it before I unlocked it).
It worked fine for two weeks, and I had WiFi calling and everything, and then the RJ5 (I believe?) update came out, and when my phone booted up it said new sim detected, and WiFi calling was gone. My APN settings were set to MetroPCS', so I set it back to the T-Mobile one since it's essentially the same network, but the WiFi calling option is *completely* gone; it's not there, trust me. I call MetroPCS support and they said they can't enable it for devices that weren't bought from them, and I tried to argue like sure you can, send it up to a higher level support team, but I could hardly understand her and gave up.
I went into a MetroPCS store and they had a spare T-Mobile SIM, popped it in, boom WiFi calling was back.
Come OneUI Pie update one, I opt in and update, and voila, WiFi calling is back!
I just downloaded the second update last night, and now it's gone again. This **** is driving me crazy, if anyone can help me figure out a way to fix this I will love you forever.
Wow, that was a gripping good yarn! I think there's a good chance that if you switch to the unlocked G965U1 firmware, it might work. I have an unlocked Verizon S9+ running on TMO, and once I flashed it to U1, wifi calling and volte worked automatically. I'm not positive how it will be with Metro but it is worth looking into. When you flash the collect unlocked firmware, when the phone boots up it will detect your sim and then reboot and configure all the settings for you.
P.S. I don't suppose there's Metro firmware out there?
I don't think there's Metro firmware, because my updates still come from T-Mobile. T-Mobile owns Metro. So what you're saying is flash the firmware via Odin and my phone would be like truly unlocked and I would get updates from Samsung rather than T-Mobile? I don't want to go through all this if it isn't a a certain fix, but sadly there's no way to tell that.

For some carriers, the Wifi calling requires the phone to have carrier firmware. Verizon is one. I bought my 9+ from Samsung unlocked, and it didn't have wifi calling on Verizon until I reflashed the phone (using Patched ODIN) to a Verizon firmware and Wifi calling works... as does the Verizon bloat, but most of that can be disabled with Package Disabler pro or similar app.

I don't think MetroPCS has it's own firmware for the s9+. Plus, they're owned by T-Mobile now. The plan I'm on is called MetroPCS by T-Mobile lol. This is driving me nuts.

Out of curiosity I read around a little bit and it seems to be really hit and miss, which definitely seems to match up with your experience. I did find this post on Reddit from someone saying they got Wi-Fi calling to work with a Metro Sim: https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/co...g_volte_not_working_with_metropcs_sim/cymnvhf
Have you come across that, tried any of that?

I have not, thanks for the link, I shall try that. Funnily enough, there was a hotfix pushed out last night and WiFi calling not working was on that list. I now have the WiFi calling icon in the notification bar, and it shows like it's on, but it doesn't actually work, and me pressing it does nothing. The setting itself still isn't in connections or anywhere in the settings. This is so dumb, lol.
Hi, I have a Samsung note 8 N-SM950U from T-Mobile and it's unlock and i am using on the Verizon wireless phone is working fine. i got the 4G LTE network i can call
and receive calls i can use the data but i don't get the some features which my carrier offers like Wi-Fi calling, video calling and i am not able to use the data while i
am on the call. I have fully flash the phone to Verizon firmware but still no luck. Is there any thing i can do to get these features.
I just picked up a brand new Verizon S9+ at Walmart and it's working fine on At&t Prepaid. Model # is SM-G965U and it's still running Android 8.0. Been hearing rumors that it may soon not work on At&t if VoltE isn't working. Do I have any easy options to get it working or do I need to flash new firmware???? Problem is I've never done anything like this before so I'm not very comfortable with it.

I've heard of this working with Sprint so I'll give it a shot on Monday. I've checked the menus pretty good and don't see any option to enable VoltE in the main setting menu or the calling app.
Interesting. Started updating my Verizon S9+ and left my At&t Prepaid sim in it. After a few updates I got a message that a new sim card was detected and it proceeded to change this phone from Verizon to At&t. All the Verizon apps/bloat were deleted and all the At&t apps/bloat were added. Even the startup splash screen updated to At&t on reboot. Just tried a call and it showed 4G which I believe shows that VoltE is now working!!! Still gotta make it from Android 8 to 10.

These phones are multi csc based on the sim. Att may still see it as a byop and all features may not work but I guess they claim volte on byop capable will work. A verizon samsung s series is not just a Verizon model. It's a us model and as long imagine its unlocked the sim tells the device who it is for and personalizes for the network automatically
