(Withdrawn! Switching between battery saver modes I only see improvements in the auto brightness but response times in the GUI are still the same.)

When my battery level reaches 10% the screen brightness is reduced to virtually nothing, I can barely see the screen in sunlight. Playing around in the display or power options doesn't change the brightness level. How to I disable this function so that I can manage the brightness myself? Thanks!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Increase the brightness in battery saving mode. Your battery saving mode is set to start at 10 % battery and probably reduces your brightness close to 0. Either increase the brightness or just shut down battery saving mode completely and use the brightness settings you want.
Thanks, but the thing is that power saving mode was not enabled (never used it) before I reached <10% battery. I enabled it then thinking it was the cause of the low screen brightness, but even with it and setting the power saving brightness to 30% the screen still stayed very dark.
Any idea what else it could be. I've only once had it at <10% but if it happens again I'd like to be able to use the phone according to my settings.
Hi! My question is: Is there a BIG difference between leaving lowest brightness setting and auto-brightness? If so, how much? (Hours, battery usage, etc)
Thanks! I hope this thread will be informative for everyone..
Auto-brightness consumes more battery because it is constantly changing brightness, if you want the best battery power just use the lowest brightness
as aaitken said auto brightness consumes more battery . its better to use low brightness and use a brightness control widget from market and change the brightness manually when required

If you have a stock firmware, or a stock based ROM, you can adjust brightness anywhere you can access the notification bar. This is built into TouchWiz. Just hold your finger on the notification bar until you see the pull-down shade, and slide your finger left or right to adjust brightness.
I leave my brightness on lowest and adjust as necessary with this, i.e. when I'm in a bright setting, and need to turn my brightness up.
Also there is brightness options in AOKP with the toggles and in CM9 (and most other AOSP roms) as a power save widget bala_gamer's option's also a good way
Thank you very much for your helpful answers..
Hi, I see there are more and more mods and tweaks designed to help boost battery life. Any efforts like this are really helpful and I'm glad of them.
The biggest use of my battery however is the screen, how about your phone? We have all tried turning down brightness, leaving automatic brightness on etc. but I really think any significant progress that we could make is through changes to how the screen works. Ultimately, I think perhaps the screen resolution and the Sony tweaks like Bravia are too powerful for the size of this battery to cope. Does anyone think something else may be the problem?
I haven't noticed any difference when turning Bravia off. What else could we do?
I use root dim
Always keep bravia engine off ( I dun find any difference to b true)
And I have a brightness bar in notification drawer to adjust brightness quickly
I didn't know about that app, I'll give it a try now. I notice that when you turn down the brightness to around 30% or less that the backlight completely turns off? I bet that is the real killer of the battery.

I use root dim
Below 10% I cant sew anything
It saves battery coz it decreases brightness
What night mode is that it adds a grey shade
Night mode has no effect on brightness
And dim brightness means battery saved
Is there any way to turn off the annoying content adaptive brightness feature?
The brightness automatically increases when dark scenes are displayed on the screen. This happens even with the auto brightness turned off and is noticeable especially during the night when we use the phone at the lowest brightness settings.
What I've already tried:
1. Turn off auto brightness
2. Turn off automatic contrast
3. Turning off reading mode
4. Turning off content adaptive brightness using MIUI Hidden Settings app
Is there any way to disable this?

It's even noticeable on 8.11.23 though it has improved a lot from previous builds.
Its irritating and finally someone mentioned it, is there no fix for this? This is even present in the EU rom.
Any fix available yet?
This issue still has not been solved, and exists in EU roms, as well as MIUIpro. Can anyone guide to fix this annoying problem?
Driving me crazy. Everytime i use it in car for navigation when the bluetooth reconnect on engine restart screen goes near black.
I've tried droid automation to try and over rule it but still don't work.
Hi There,
when starting the "battery saver mode", the display of my phone switches to maximum brightness. I found an article https://www.xda-developers.com/customize-battery-saver-mode-android-8-0/ about settings in android 8 and it kind of works, but only when typing the command "settings put global battery_saver_constants "adjust_brightness_disabled=false" " into a shell (locally or via adb). Next time my phone reaches the "battery saver mode" again, the display is switched to maximum brightness again.
Currently, my phone is running latest LineageOS 16 from this source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/development/rom-lineage-os-16-0-t3871409
Is someone else facing this behaviour?
Best regards,
Helmut
It's because the damn led is right next to the light sensor. Light sensor gets blasted with light and thinks it needs to compensate by maxing the display brightness. I've learned to live with it. Alternatively you can disable the auto brightness.
