3 days in w/ my TBolt and VZW announces the Incredible 2 yesterday, releasing at the end of the month ...
Rumor has it that battery life will be much better than the TBolt, so is anyone returning their phone right now due to battery life or will there be an improvement once new ROMs are released? Is it worth the wait?
maybe it probably will never get any better. i would seriously maybe probably consider thinking about debating on planning on returning your phone.
i dont know what htc/verizon was thinking when they released this. i mean technology like this and i have to charge every day!! unbelievable!
i probably think inc 2 will maybe be better since its a 3g phone.

I like the TBolt... And not waiting on a rumor for the Dinc 2
Last I checked, the Dinc2 is a 3G-only device.
I haven't had any trouble with my Thunderbolt's battery life easily getting through a 8hr work day with plenty left over.
I'd say it's an almost certainty. There seems to be a problem/bug with the radio which makes it drain a lot of power in certain areas (my house seems relatively fine, but in town it's not ... maybe certain towers for some reason? No 4g in my area, so that's not it) when you have mobile data enabled. I'm currently at 78% battery with 13h 30m on the clock ... by turning off mobile data in the areas I've discovered where it decides to draw the obscene ~900mA (or some other fairly constant, very high number) when I encounter the "bug", I've managed to essentially make the battery life as long as anyone could expect.
For some reason, the radio will not admit to drawing practically 90% of your battery in the battery use menu.
So, I'm thinking future radio software/firmware updates can drastically improve battery life if they discover the cause.
Currently, without the area with the bug (I'm at my house) and screen off, I'm drawing 42-60mA on 3g radio and 40mA wifi. And areas with the bug, it's 700mA minimum with spikes often at 900mA and above.
Seriously, how long would you expect a laptop battery to last? These new smartphone are basically mini laptops. I'd be lucky to get 4 hours out of my laptop. My phone will make through the day with moderate use.
Just my 2 cents

Same here..
Bought a spare stock battery on launch day expecting the worst, but have yet to have to use it. I make it through the day with good use no problem. Today was even better after loading das BAMF 1.3 ROM w/ kernel, overclocked to 1.2GHz as well..
Mine has gotten better over time. Im sure with the next couple updates the battery life will get better. But if you dont care about lte or the bigger screen you might just want to get the incredible 2.
My battery has gotten better over the past week. It's tolerable now. It will make it through a day, which is all I really need.
It's never going to get good battery life though.. there's a lot of stuff packed into this phone and on top of that, the 1400 mah battery is already small for a device like this.

Last night I unplugged my phone at 430am. Went back to sleep woke up about 730 and battery was at 45% with WIFI on. Don't know what's going on. Some nights 8 hours with 4G on my phone won't even burn 10%. The WIFI thing is puzzling to me.
Can't say for certain, but I've heard gingerbread significantly improves battery life in most phones...
and rumour is, we will get gingerbread official in Q2. (unofficial via cm7 maybe sooner???)
Can everyone tell us if the battery life of the G2 is better or worst after the upgrade to lollipop.
Kk better
same for me
5.0.2 better for me
5.0.2 is better, 40h on, 7h sot (my best). 1h more than kk.
for me better 5.0.2. i guess maybe 10%. maybe in some conditions will be kk and in other conditions lollipop

For me KK still better.
Lollipop is better for me 30b
kitkat had much better battery stats for me...
Kk better for me
When i am watching the results here from the poll i am wondering to update or not With KK i got 7 hours SOT without any problem , with wi-fi and 3g ... Is it so bad with the LP ?
Stop posting Lolipop battery results if you're running a custom lolipop rom and not the stock one.
I assume people want to know if it's worth upgrading to lolipop.
At least that's what I also want to know.
I'm not sure whether to upgrade or not now
I just got given a new g2 a few days ago. I previously was using a galaxy S4. I'm getting literally double the battery life compared to what I got in my S4. I've hit 7.5 hours screen on time in a days use. With my galaxy S4 I was lucky if I got 4 hours SOT...
The battery life on this G2 is phenomenal. I'm actually really impressed with the G2 as a whole. The tiny bezels make it look sexy. The screen is bigger than what I had before. The awesome battery life. And IMO the camera is better too.
The only thing I miss is the sexiness of the AMOLED display. But overall I think the G2 is the better device. Loving it so far. This thread has made me a bit worried about upgrading to lollipop though.
I could take a full system image so I could go back to the way it was, I suppose. I'll need to do a lot of reading up. I'm very experienced with Samsung phones, but this is my first LG and I've only had it 2 days. So much to learn...
lollipop is better for me. after deinstalling Facebook and Facebook Messenger app the battery is great for me

This. I've tested custom LP roms and they had at best "meh" battery life. The Stock LP update from LG is fantastic, not as snappy as AOSP roms but great in terms of battery. But, you need a few cycles to get things going - around 3 to 5 and it's great.
IMO definately worth the upgrade. No problem going back to KK after (KDZ).
Better battery life for me on D80130b
for me has STOCK D802 20H the same as STOCK D802 30B
i cant say one is better ... i think LP (30B) is cleaner ...
I lived one week with lollipop, then returned back to 20D.
Camera is horrible in lollipop.
Standby battery is also horrible in lollipop.
7h sot on kitkat, 4h on lollipop, I had screen on top 31% and then cell standby 28%, not normal.
Can you guys post a battery stats screenshot?
I have a new G2 (got it on Friday), updated to LP immediately as I'm "in love" with the material design (came from an ageing nexus 4). Compared to the nexus, the battery is amazing, but I think I can do better.
For example, I unplugged the phone 8:30 hours ago, right now I have 81% left. usage:
1. screen - 29% (57 minutes) - automatic brightness, I think that the average was about 60-70%+ (mostly sunny outdoors + fluorescent indoors)
2. Cell standby (15%)
3. Android OS (11%)
4. Android system (8%)
5. Phone Idle (7%)
6. Wi-Fi (6%) - was apparently turn on but I am using it for about 4 hours. Other than that - 3G or 4G.
other than that, some apps (on background I have FB+messenger, whatsapp, hangouts but not heavy usage today).
I can estimate that I'll have about 3-4 hours SOT top. Do you guys think this usage is normal?
I also must say that I've done about 3 hard resets after updating it. I think about doing another one, however It's better to give it 1-2 weeks to see if it's getting better (new phone + new update).
What kind of battery life are you guys getting? Total and screen on time.
I was thinking of getting this phone for my wife, who could care less about root, but I heard the Snapdragon version has pretty poor battery life compared to exynos. That could be a deal-breaker.

I'm a fairly heavy user of my phone. Using it has a hotspot for work, email, listening to music, watching YouTube, etc etc. I unplug my phone at 6AM when I leave the house. Usually, by 1-2 PM, I am down to around 30-35%. I don't really manage my apps, but I do occasionally go to the recent apps and clear them out.
I owe a note 3 with a 9600mAh battery that lasts up to three days. I bought the S7 Edge thinking it would last at least one day. Well...it doesn't. Best I get is 9 hrs. So by 5:00 pm I have to charge phone. Which led me to my decision to return phone. A phone that doesn't last a day is not ok. Hope the note 6 has better battery life.

Wow, big difference vs. what those with Exynos are saying. I'm seeing up to 2 days and 7 hrs screen on time for the Exynos S7 edge...
I use mine with LTE and GPS always on, I'm getting 14 hours with about 6 hours screen time.
Optimized will last much longer, but I don't like being limited on the features just to save battery if it already lasts a day.
beezar, where can you buy the Exynos model. If you're getting that much battery life, then i must have that phone. I can still return my Edge.

I'm saying those with Exynos are reporting incredible battery life. I doubt the Exynos version works for Sprint without some major tweaking, and even then maybe not ever.
It's sad that the Snapdragon battery life is so much worse
Yeah, it's not available. I returned the Edge. Broke my heart, but 8 hrs is totally unacceptable.

SD820 with Android System/OS as highest battery drain
So, in the main S7 forum, it was discovered that the Snapdragon S7 versions (such as Sprint's) have the highest battery usage coming from Android System/OS, whereas for the Exynos S7 version, it's Screen. This leads directly to the Exynos having MUCH better battery life than the Snapdragon.
Either it's a bug in the software used on Snapdragon S7's (hopefully), or its the inherent inefficiency of the Snapdragon chip. Any which way, some people are tweeting Samsung USA to put pressure on them to look into this issue. We should all put pressure on Samsung to fix this. Hopefully it is a software issue that is easily corrected and which will lead to much better battery life for the Snapdragon S7's.
Battery life since update?
Any improvement in battery life after the Sprint update? What kind of stats (on-battery and screen-on times) are you guys getting after the update?
Some people are reporting much worse battery life. Mine seems to be about the same (very good) as it was before.
I had a severe CPU drain issue once after the update. I had a theme loaded during the update and at one point the phone lagged so badly it took almost a minute just to swap between apps. (I don't keep more than 5 apps running at a time - usually Twitch, CoC, and Facebook). Never had issues before the update, but it's only happened once so far.
Battery life seems unchanged. I don't use haptic feedback ever (not a fan) and keep screen brightness limited to what I feel is necessary (usually between 25-30% brightness) for the day.
I keep GPS turned off and am on LTE for 8-10 hours a day and listen to Twitch (audio only majority) for 6-8 of those hours.
In the end, my S7 lasts from 6am to 3pm on a single charge with Twitch streaming on LTE with about 20% screen on during that time. While at home on WiFi, I can easily get 2 days out of a single charge with casual use (personal choice).
Sent from my SM-G930P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Hmm, some people are reporting remarkably better battery life with the latest T-mobile update. Hopefully Sprint will get the same update soon
Rooted mine and battery life is crappy, though it wasn't great before either I think it's about the same or probably even a little bit worse on stock but maybe it's just me. I get like a little over 2 hours screen on time with 9% left on mostly wifi so I know for a fact that something is wrong. Standby time is also awful.
Android kernel and os draining more battery than my screen lol definitely should not be happening.

Hello guys,
My question is which ROM seem to be best for you in battery life? Im talking about my R3Pro(ido) device. I've been using xiaomi.eu's stables from beginning which has great 8h SOT, but now experiencing like 3h SOT with LineageOS 14 always updated with Xposed and all day data/WiFi on. Any ideas? Should I change back to MIUI?
Thanks

U can try:RR,SudaMod,Lineage OS 15 Unofficial or PixelExperience 8.1.
The UNTEST-20171122 version of Resurrection Remix N has the best battery life for both screen on and off time, hands down. Was a lifesaver in a recent job where I listened to hours of podcasts per day to keep sane. Keep away from Oreo ROMs for the time being, theyre still largely broken apart from PixelExperience (which instead has the fun problem of ridiculously fast battery drain.)

No. The only things I flash on my device are the ROM, GApps and Magisk. The battery usage when the screen is off is the prizewinner here. It rarely goes down more than 2% after being left for more than 2 hours, which is ideal for me. Still though, I'm pretty sure I get more than 3 hours of screen on time. Learn to use some basic battery saving methods; turn the brightness to 50% or lower, turn off wifi or data when you're not using it...or better yet, learn to restrain your usage of it when out and about
When I go out, the phone is generally being used consistently all day via me using Bluetooth headphones along with some occasional use of 4G data. It usually never gets past the 40% mark by time I'm back home and I'm usually out for more than 5-6 hours per day. Honestly I'm not personally sure what the issue with having to charge it daily is...I've never had a phone which didn't require such a task, with the exception of things like the original Nokia 3310.

I did the same on my friend's phone: Rom, gapps mini and Magisk. I can't tell you about his usage of the phone, but I've seen battery stats and it just can barely reach 3 hours of SOT, the usage is mostly of socials and music.. This rom here and latest LOS builds are just very battery draining, I don't know what to do with that phone! Anyway, thank you for the reply and the tips, I'll let him know!
What about MIUI? Maybe the EU version? Somedoby that tried that out can tell which will be the pros and the cons? Is it still on Lollipop?

Ahh, social media apps can very easily drain the battery from what I remember. The Facebook app is especially bad for it if I recall correctly. Perhaps grab a Wakelock detector app, see if anything is keeping the phone awake and then use Greenify to stop the apps from doing that.
With regards to MIUI, I seem to recall stock MIUI (from the official Xiaomi site) definitely having the best battery life out of every other rom I've used, with MIUI.eu not being as good but better than other custom roms. In terms of pros and cons, there isn't much. It works a little differently to regular Android so there's some bothering aspects to it (such as the Files/Documents app being disabled by default for some unexplained reason, meaning you have to re-enable it after every reboot.) And yes, It's still on Lollipop sadly, meaning apps like password managers etc can't use the fingerprint scanner.
Honestly I'd say wipe everything on the phone, clean flash RR-UNTEST and then slowly re-add all the apps and see if one in particular causes heavy battery drain.
There is a battery thread in P6 Pro section, but we don't have an equivalent here, so...
How's your battery on regular Pixel 6? Can't post any data from my side, as it's still being dispatched....
with my normal phone usage I am ending up with about 30-40% at the end of the day. With my Pixel 5a I still got about 60% juice. I cannot complain. I've seen wild differences on youtube from others (both good and terrible).
My battery life seems to be just fine.
Mine seems fine, it's been idle more than anything and it'll probably be that way since I try not to use it too much. When I'm at work I can't really use my phone anyway, so I expect battery life to be strong.
I also have a battery app that monitors usage and health of the battery if anyone is interested.

Yes I am. I only charged it once to 100 even though I know that's not good, but for first time I think it's ok.
I'm not sure i have enough stats to show since I've only used the app once to charge, but happy to share whatever info you need. Just let me know which screen to grab and I'll post.
comparison. Over 8 hours is pretty good.
I guess I can't complain.
Im getting about 9 hours of SOT. Using accubattery and this is while using youtube TV along with bluetooth (not using battery saver at all). The battery life is great on the pixel 6 pro and its a bit better than my s21 ultra.
proof
I'm guessing my stats are good? Idk where it got 4 sessions over the last 4 days from, but I installed the app yesterday and had it charged at 100% around 3PM. From then on I would use it randomly, mainly using chat through IM apps. I haven't done anything super battery heavy yet. I'm at 8% as I sit and write this...
Dayum. That's some iphone 13 pro max stats there lol.
It all depends on the connectivity, e.g. @android_dan is using 5G which is battery hungry, and also network reception is really low here.

Even on 5G I have no complaints about battery life. I'm getting up at 4:30 am and going to bed at 10:30 pm with 20-30% battery. We've had some weather delays so I've been on the phone a lot throughout the day. No complaints here.
So I am using my P6 for 3 days and battery life is amazing when screen is on (I can get like 12 hour of sot if I would spend all day looking at my phone), but idle usage is pretty high for me - getting like 3-4% per hour while screen off on LTE, 2g disabled, AoD disabled.
Is anyone experiencing the same? Or maybe I still need to wait for Adaptive Battery's magic?

I get 5% drop over night while I'm sleeping and connected to wifi. All apps closed in the background. I don't think that's too bad in my case. Definitely let things "settle" after the first few days of use. I've seen lots of improvement in battery after having the phone for a week.
I tend to get thru a whole day no problem! I turned network preferences to LTE cuz my area doesn't have great 5g and I don't find it slow at all. And I'm on wifi most of the time anyway. At the end of the day I have somewhere between 7-9 hours SOT which is amazing! I watch lots of YouTube videos and listen to music throughout the day. Hope this helps!
for me, the battery is a tragedy, it drops in my eyes, I was able to get a maximum of 4h sot. On average, I have 2.5 to 3.5 hours of sot. I have a recommended 4G network set. I use 2 sim.

They're actively looking into the battery drain issue, and some folks have had success with doing a factory reset.

I was able to find out what was causing my phone to be active and never enter a deep sleep, which has improved the battery drain I was having. I'm still not sure why mobile network standby fluctuates on me; sometimes it'll be as low as 3% and others in the 20 when I'm not doing anything different at home.
