Hi,
I recently updated the phone to 9.6.25. first time I checked for update it showed this very update with 1.7GB size however next time it showed 131MB only.
Similar thing happened with .22 update before.
Why do the update size keep changing for the same update? Also "what's new" is slightly changed.
Is it normal?

For me it's usual.
Yes it is normal. See it like this: sometimes a few files need to be replaced and the update is small (like bug fixes) but with larger updates (The ones that adds functionally and fixes large bug) are larger. When Android is upgraded even more files need to be replaced resulting in the largest update which can be around a gig.

Actually I'm saying, it showed me same 9.6.25 update with different sizes 1.7gb and 131mb. Is that normal?

No. I didn't change anything. I just made it to search for update once more after like 15 seconds.

Most likely, but unlikely, the pushed the full rom instead of the ota, realized their mistake, took it down, pushed the ota

I have a PadFone S and when I went to check for a system update it began downloading.
Wonder if it fixed the tablet charging phone. Can't seem to install this if you have root. Anyway to install it or wait for the full zip on asus website to update?
Wait unless someone pulls the OTA update link. The update was only 66mb
Thanks for the heads up, we should be able to just flash the full firmware here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Mobile_Phone/PadFone_S/UL-ASUS_T00N-WW-12.2.2.37-user.zip
Did anyone successfully install this update, just by flashing from the asus website?
If so, is everything great?

Omg, I didn't think it was possible but it looks like Asus added even more bloat to this update. Spent the last half hour deleting stuff! Overall though, it seems smoother and uses a little less ram at the start. Not a bad upgrade if you root and uninstall a bunch of useless Asus apps.

What more could they possibly add, I thought this was already enough lol.
I didn't update it yet but I will once its fully charged and set up.
Afterwards I will check everything, it raises a serious question what happens when I update the remove the bloatware after using root.
Im hoping everything would be alright until cyanogen gets tablet support.
Kingroot can't root the phone on this update. Any other method to root?

Yeah what sucks is since we don't have a ROM, flashing this full install adds back all of the bloatware I removed from the last update. What I did after updating was get Titanium Backup on there and just delete a bunch of Asus apps that I don't need, looking at you Clean Master. After doing that, restart the phone and the Playstore will no longer want you to update the apps you've removed.

You updated via TWRP recovery right? If so, just flash Super SU. No reason to use Kingroot at all on this phone.

I don't have TWRP since my phone is a plus. I am not sure if the method will work as the same for regular S model.
I have a stock PadFone s plus so I updated via ota. But my daughter has my old PadFone X that converted to S I flashed the new update via twrp via adb fastboot

I just flashed the update via twrp, I didnt see new bloatware added to my system, I even checked all apps and the only thing new and welcoming is padfone station assistant.
I had cm 12.1 installed before I had converted this device into a padfone s, and it was fast zippy and clean and you never had to worry about system memory like you do on the asus fws. The only way I will keep cm is when it supports the docking station.
This update made my phone quite fast and antutu is showing scores of 47,193 making it faster than the zenfone 2. Wow.

I am going to test this when I get the update installed.
I have a PFX converted to PFS LP. I downloaded the Zip then transferred to the phone. It automatically detected the update file and installed without issue, just waiting for the "Android is Upgrading" to finish. Then I will post back with Antutu scores. I will of course debloat and reboot prior to running Antutu. I only wish I had thought to run Antutu prior to updating for comparison.
Update:
I got an Antutu score of 44182. A bit lower than the above mentioned. I will do some tweaks to attempt to raise the score.
45889 was the best I was able to get. Are you doing anything special with settings on your phone, Justatechie?
Just tried Kingroot and was able to root my phone. Then used super sume to remove the Kingroot and put super su for root. I used the latest Kingroot apk.

I did it from a cold boot, when it first starts up, cleared the RAM using that booster utility and achieved a score of over 47,000k. After that the score averages down to 45,000 and the more benchmarks you are doing in a short time the lower score would be due to thermal throttling I assume. And I forced stopped some running services that would automatically start up to achieve the best score possible.
I removed most of the bloatware that I considered useless and just kept the ones that were useful for me.
The original lollipop update gave me a 47k, the second update made it slower towards 43k, then this update touches 47k again. (I'm starting to think that this is too high for a snapdragon 800 processor, because the rest of the snapdragon 800 devices just touch 40k)
I have also noticed that when I dock it to the tablet, its loads up faster than other updates.
Usually I have to wait like 3-5 seconds until the launcher could display the apps or using dynamic display.

I have the Padfone X converted as well. getting around the same benchmark 45.7k the highest which is amazing to me. I was just wondering where u put the file for it to automatically detect it and what recovery are you using? I'm using twrp and ended up having to look up the zip file on my phone. I could download the ota update but once it rebooted to install it, it would just go into twrp recovery and i could not find where it downloaded the update on my phone that way.

If you are on OxygenOS 3.0.2, flash the OTA, then SuperSU straight after it, and you should be still rooted.
Is it possible to flash the updated modem and bootloader on a custom rom? eg delete the system folders in the zip and flash it or by fastboot

No, because the zip doesn't contain the full firmware images - it just patches the stock 3.0.2 firmware.

FCK, I think I bricked my device. I flashed the files through fastboot and now nothing happens.
Edit: fixed it. Guess custom rom users can not get 3.1.0 bl and modem?

I have applied the patch and made a "firmware only" update zip for OOS 3.1.0. I have flashed it running CM13 and do not see any problems (Use it at your own free will)

Unable to flash in recovery showing error 7 ???
This "update" is junk. It doesn't fix the picture compression problem that people have been complaining about for months. It doesn't fix the battery drain. It doesn't add VOLTE. It doesn't add the OnePlus gallery app or music app that was added to the OP3 and the OPX. It is basically the August security patch and that's it. LAME. Someone also mentioned that it adds 2 icon packs. Neat.

How did you judge about battery drain problem so fast! The update is by no means small. I looked at all the files in the patch and they have almost touched all aspects of the ROM. Like many have posted, if the device did not come with VoLTE, there is a very slim chance we will get it. More than a technical problem, it is a lengthy process.

Same problem here! (TWRP 3) First got a build.prop error message, reverted build.prop back to stock, error went away but error 7 was still there.
I'm on Boeffla Kernel + Super SU + Xposed, could any of those have anything to do with it?

I personally could care less about the VoLTE. Just pointing it out. But how hard would it have been to fix the picture compression problem? That's just lazy. Especially since it's been reported for MONTHS on the OP forums. And how about adding the music and gallery apps? And at only 29MB, they sure didn't touch much...

Some fixes and not fixes that I 've noticed so far on 3.1.0, comparing it to 3.0.2 ...
Fixed
* Do not Disturb can now be scheduled via a 3rd app (eg Tasker)
* NET location is now available on Tasker doesn't work, it was probably cached
* GPS icon now appears on the status bar when using Sygic, it did not on 3.0.2 yet gps was available.
Not Fixed
* Recents does not always show the last running app, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't
To be seen ...
* GPS drops after 20 minutes or so when using Sygic, it is consistent, I 'll find out about that tomorrow.
Clean flashed 3.0.2, flashed 3.1.0 update and factory reseted immediately.
No SuperSu/Xposed/Mods for now until I get a better picture of stock behavior.

Not only sygic I face the same problem on any GPS app (maps as example).
And not really after 20 minutesn but sometime 10 minutes and some other time 50 minutes. I have to disable and enable back GPS to fix it for few more minutes.

This is exactly the problem that I have, I got to close GPS and reopen it (or Sygic), in order to get it working again.
I haven't use GPS for over 50 mins, not at least since the release OOS 3.0.2. And yes, a couple of times GPS dropped in about 10 mins.
I 've seen it also occuring on Google Maps but I thought I shouldn't mention it because I rarely use it and don't have a solid opinion.
What I can say is it doesn't occur on OOS 2.2.1, no matter what.
Let's hope that the GPS icon that now appears on the statusbar is more than a UI fix and has some substance. More on that tomorrow when I' ll use GPS to and from work.
I 've also oppened an issue with Sygic about 3 weeks ago but I have no reply yet ...

Same problem here! (TWRP 3) First got a build.prop error message, reverted build.prop back to stock, error went away but error 7 was still there.
I'm on Boeffla Kernel + Super SU + Xposed, could any of those have anything to do with it?

Hi,
Does anybody knows, in which drive or folder the firmware files gets downloaded? I updated from B150 to B180 via Firmware Finder (proxy method), so I was able to download the update files over the normal Firmware Update function in the settings. Sadly, I klicked the Update-button in Firmware Finder several times and so, the download of the update files got started several times.
Now the firmware description page in the settings shows a size of 5 GB for the last update (B180). And on the memory page in settings, there are more than 12 GB occupied drive space from firmware files listed. Other file management tools like Files Go from Google show the same amount of occupied/free space on the internal drive (not SD card). So, the files must be on the phone somewhere. But...
I used several tools to search for the downloaded files. I didn't found them. Not I in a directory on the internal drive, not I in a directory of the system partition (read-only). I also cleared the /cache partition via recovery menu: press Vol-Up and On/Off-Button to switch on the phone and clear Cache.
Has anyone an idea, where the firmware update files have been be downloaded and/or how I can clean up "old" firmware files?
Thx.
The firmware is saved in /data/media/0/HwOUC/[Some number]. /data/media/0 is the internal storage.
Hey,
I have Honor 9 version STF-L09C432B100, I have looked on the forum, and can see you can get Oreo updates since 5th / 11th Dec.
I saw you can get updated firmware from Firmware finder, I saw the latest 180 build, however checking this with imei, shows that is is not ready for my device.
2 questions
1. is it safe to get firmware like this?
2. Am I seeing this due to buying from Three (uk)?

The May 2018 updates are on Google's site, except for the 6P. Anyone know why?
This article says it's been pulled:
https://www.droid-life.com/2018/05/...ity-update-goes-live-for-nexus-pixel-devices/
The links are still active. I got them from here:
https://9to5google.com/2018/05/07/android-may-18-security-patch-pixel-nexus/
I downloaded the image yesterday but going to delete it.
The update was actually pushed to my device today by Google... but it won't install due to an E3005 error related to the modem. I'm not sure, though, if the issue is with this update or if it's something specific to my device.

OPM2. Sounds a bit scary to me. I thought angler was only either 3 or 5. I haven't flashed it either.
It appears to have a new radio 3.87 , maybe there are some problems with that

What do these even mean?
If I have OPM3 can I flash OPM5? Vice versa?

Normally you should always use the same build if available. I'm on OPM3. OPM5 is a build specifically for Japanese carrier SoftBank. Attempting to flash OPM5 over OPM3 is a bad idea.
I believe OPM2 is a merge of OPM3 and OPM5. Perhaps if you had OPM5 it isn't liking the merged radio file but for me on OPM3 I was able to upgrade to the May OPM2 Nexus 6P build without issue.
I did a non-destructive factory image flash to get to OPM2. YMMV.

So you installed the may update?,how is it so far.
side-loaded the may ota file via adb and it seems to work a-ok so far... i had installed opm5 before as well via this method so perhaps there is some under the hood issue nobody has noticed yet...
Not Yet Available
If you go to the Android News blogspot it states that the Nexus 6P update is "Not Yet Available" ...
I'd post the link, but it says new members are not allowed for 10 days or something like that, sorry!
Installed may update using flashfire.seems fine to me so far.seems little faster, but could be cause of clean install, rooted and debloated also.when Google releases new update I will probably install that too.just curious why it was pulled,a bug,or was there something we got that we weren't supposed too??
I cant say for sure what the issue was but I know after I did the update phone worked fine but then I restarted the phone and it told me my Android System was corrupted and that I had to factory reset.

So far still running good for me,no message when I reboot either.
I just realized that the power save mode is not functioning on my 6P and was before may OTA ( cannot be toggled and does not turn on below 15%) not a game-changer but could be why it was pulled or it could just be a hiccup on an aging device
Ugh, where the update?
I was holding of flashing till the release of the next security patch.

My phone says it has the OTA, but as I did some system modifications, I need the factory image, which yet has to appear.
Have any of you installed from the first link? If so, how did that go? I wan to do the OTA, but I am a bit worried it will be corrupt or that it isn't the correct file.

So Android 11 and 12, which is not bad, but also not brilliant. And how about security updates? 2 years, 3 years? Does anybody know?

Battery issue with new update?
Is anyone else noticing the battery seems to be running down faster with the new update? And for some reason it isn't slow charging overnight, even though the notification pops up telling me it is!
I'm struggling to get through a full day at the moment. Last week it was fine...

Here is normal (even a little better).
After the update I am using it for 22 hours and there is still 62% left.
Moderate use / Wifi 6 all the time / About 3 hours of music with Spotify (bluetooth headset) / I don't use social networks / 3.22 hours of screen / Notifications on / About 40 minutes of calls.
And Yes... Here I use the slow charge and limit of 90%.
Does someone has the OTA .zip file to flash in recovery?
Not sure if this is correct as I just edited the filename in the url of MysticMan's post but the link works
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZS670KS/UL-I002D-WW-29.14.53.5-user.zip
Edit: The Asus download page has the source code for 29.14.53.5.
Does anyone have direct link for the Android 11 beta builds? https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-7-pro-first-android-11-beta-update/
Link for WW-29.14.53.5 (full update) : https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZS670KS/UL-I002D-WW-29.14.53.5-user.zip

Yes you will lose root and recovery. Just flash TWRP_Flash_tpposite_Slot-CPTB.zip immediately after the update, then reboot to recovery (so it boots the new slot) and then flash Magisk.
