Gboard: how to disable the spacebar launching the language settings - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

I’m a Gboard user who uses more than one language (I have to do so). On a daily basis, I use the spacebar to move the cursor left and right by swiping it. Unfortunately, the spacebar, when holding it, serves also for choosing a language. Wanting to move the cursor, I often mistakenly launch the language settings.
How to disable the language settings being launched by the spacebar? Another button with a globe icon is sufficient if I want to enter the language settings. It’s impossible to disable this feature in the Gboard settings. Do you know any other method?
I’m not willing to switch to another Android keyboard. I’ve tried them and they didn’t fulfill my expectations.

[Q] [Solved] search for keyboard w/ specific function

today, a mayor update for touchpal has been released (v4 -> v5). i like the new look, but the keyboard has lost a key function: it was possible in v4 to hold on a letter and drag it down to write the secondary function.
e.g.: hold "h" and drag it down -> "&".
it was also possible to edit the secondary functions. v5 doesn't allow me to do this.
does anybody know an alternative app? reply please!
(for now, i still use v4, downloadable HERE.

i use "ultra keyboard" (paid app) now. it has lots of settings, i enabled gestures and increased the gesture sensitivity. now it does pretty much what i want it to.
didn't find out how to edit secondary functions, though.
does anybody know if&how this is possible?

Strange Google Keyboard autocorrect issue

This happens on the Google keyboard as well as the AOSP one.
The keyboard's great at suggesting appropriate corrections, but about half the time, they're not inserted when space is pressed. Sometimes they are, sometimes they're not. See the screenshots for details.
It's really annoying and happens with every rom I've used in the last few years, including KitKat and Lollipop. I don't want to have to switch to another brand of keyboard...but I guess if I have to I will. I've tried editing the personal dictionary, clearing the cache, reinstalling the keyboard. It has happened on multiple phone types, and with different roms and android versions. Anyone else?

This thing sucks, i loved google keyboard under kitkat, now it's a pain in the ass with this system, think for example if you are writing on a forum and the text on the site is too small... you simply can't use this keyboard now.
It doesn't show the current word in the centre anymore.
I really hope they will fix this sh..t on android 5.1-5.2

How to close or minimize keyboard/Gboard?

I have the dumbest problem ever. I just bought a Xiaomi fitness tracker, and I can't use it because in one of the screens during setup, the "next" button is hidden under Gboard. There's a back button that closes the app (stupid), but no other controls; no way to remove focus from the text field. Hitting return just creates a new line in the text box. Please help!

you could try to remove/change keyboard from the drop down notification bar?

Click to collapse
No, my notification bar (OxygenOS) doesn't have any keyboard options.
However, I was able to get around the issue by going into my phone settings ->Language and Input->change keyboard to SwiftKey->go back to the setup screen->tap the settings button on the Swift Key keyboard->and select "undock". This allowed me to move the keyboard up, finally revealing the next button.
These developers should be ashamed, truly.

Changing Default Dialer

i am out on the road for 12 hours a day and i have always had issues with Nexus Dialer or This phone dialer app that comes with Xperia XZ1.
The reason is because my screen is always on navigating and when i receive a call, a little pop up windows pops up, i have to click on it to make it full screen and then swipe from bottom and choose a custom message to reply with text. it is not convenient while driving,
i had iphone 6s before this for 3 months and the only feature i miss from that phone is its simple click to answer or reject a call with a text with less steps.
i tried many dialers in google play but i cant make any of them default dialer because making them default don't work. is there anyway i could achieve this without root?
you just have to go to default apps in the applications sub-menu.
