Not sure what's the purpose of posting it here since half of the functions are not working. I guess before it posted it you could have at least tested it and amended the description of what's working and what's not - most of the functions work only on Nexus devices.

I guess you must be illiterate bc it says right in the op that I tested it and confirmed it working in the op w/ oss b8... But that's not all... I can now confirm that EVERY FEATURE available in this APK also works with Phoenix AEX on my device. So I either have a better OP3T then you..... or something is wrong with yours..
If I had guess it's an id ten t error.

Everything is OK for me too. Also with Phoenix AEX.
Only HDR+ is missing, but it is a nexus/pixel exclusive feature.
just install open camera and enable camera2 api from menu
best fully free camera app

Buy one of the devices mentioned above ... Or develop it somehow to work on your device. I am not a developer or someone trying to "fake" knowing enough to answer that question for you. I honestly like the Google camera app and provided a link for others who feel as I do... I mentioned in the OP that I can only confirm personal experiences... I specifically wrote that because I cannot support things I do know understand myself. I'm sorry if that came off harsh.. but it's just brutal honesty.

Or you can do the test of MotoCamera_V6.0.62.1 or as I specify it is a fix for Google Camera.
Any way to get real 1080p 60fps..

I have tried various exynos hdr+ camera port but hdr+ doesnt seem to work on the a8.
I tried with camera2 probe and it says that support is "limited".
Has anyone succeded to activate them?

I have downloaded gcam version 4.4,, Hdr + works well with great picture & the large size of photos, between 8 to 9 Mb
I wish there is a programer member could make the new version of google camera that suitable for my A8 2018, because I have install the one from @MiniUser , it failed to catch portrait, my device restart by itself,,,,

I've tried the apk 4.4 in the conversation you linked and it freezes. I Can't take a photo with hdr+. You can take hdr photos with that version on your Galaxy a8 or in another phone?

it works on my device samsung A8 2018 Indonesia, or mybe you can try another version:
B-S-G's Modded Google Camera 5.1.014 with HDR+ for Android 7.0 / ARM64 v1.5f All-in-One Full
this version also works for my device, but I love the earlier version's result on HDr+ (B-S-G's Modded Google Camera 4.4.020 with HDR+ for Android 7.0 / ARM64 v3.8c All-in-One Full Manual), the picture result is better than my samsung A8 stock camera apps, especially it can get more detail in direct sunlight or low light with larger amount of file size

after download apk file, install it as normal apk, never use the setting on the website, in the camera menu will appear HDR+, you need to do is clik the HDR+ on,,, if you go to setting, it will crash or freeze

I've done exactly as you said and I did various test.
With that version you can take a photo with hdr+ selected but it won't be a real hdr+ photo because it doesn't process the 3 photo like in supported phones. It takes a normal photo, a good photo, but not an hdr one because in the settings menu the hdr is disabled.
I've tried really a lot of the Google camera ports and not a single one can take an hdr photo.
The ones that try to take a real hdr photo crash, the ones that have some option that disable the her processing don't (even if it's selected into the camera option).
I really hope that with the Oreo update Samsung will activate the camera 2 api to a "level 3" settings because I don't want to root or unlock the boot loader to force the api activation.
I wish there's some programmer which could make an app to click pics in portrait mode from this phone, Please this phone just lacks that one thing.

FInally I can make portrait photos by using gcam version 8 by mini user
in setting just disable all front cam Hdr+ & portrait mode coz it isn't working on my front cam (hang & push to restart), only working for rear one
in setting also enable fix black level offset (to prevent your portrait photos become red or pink)

I can record 4k (30fps) video with cinema 4k (I downloaded it at play store)
the result you cant play by using samsung video player so you need to download MX player
cinema 4k also doesn't provide to storage your video on sd card,,,,
I ve tried open camera & enable camera 2 APi, but the video resulution is only full HD (1080p)
perhaps this app also work for your A8 2018
With the last minuser version of the port, 8.2, I can too do real hdr+ photos. It elaborates the image after I take It, file dimension is big around 7 mb and quality is good, a lot better than the default camera for the rear cam.
If you disable the front camera hdr fix it disable the hdr in the rear camera too.
I think I'll stick with this version because it's the only one that has real hdr+ working.
the latest version 8.2 of @miniuser123 works fine, but you have to deactivate the flash, otherwise the app crashes and the phone restarts. From the settings you only have to activate fix black level offset to prevent the portrait photos are with a lilac patina. The hdr setting for the front camera leaves it unchanged, otherwise it also acts on the rear camera. So much for the selfie is great for the Samsung app, considering that the Galaxy A8 has 2 front cameras.
With the 8.2 the difference between the stock camera and the gcam is enormous.
It seems as if Samsung limited the quality of the post processing so this phone, even with a good (and advertised 16mb 1.7) rear camera, couldn't even go near the s8 in photo quality. I've compared a lot of photos I took simultaneously with my a8 and the s8+ of a friend of mine.
With the stock camera the s8 wins hands down. If you compare the a8 pics taken with a working hdr+ gcam the gap is a lot smaller. They come close, but the s8 has always the lead.

So True! The Phone is fantastic but with stock rear camera settings could be better! Fortunately miniuser and his gcamera port fixed it.
He released an 8.3 beta version. Stable on our phone as the 8.2.
does anyone knows how to make the front cam working? pressing the shutter button didn't do a thing.

You need to disable the "hdr+ front camera" setting. But then you won't have hdr+ on the rear camera anymore!

I have been doing test with the GCAM magisk modules. There are 7 versions 15A to 15G. I started with G version but the configuration is fixed and I can meke the cam work. The F version is very configurable. I have done a lot of test and I have achieved the frontal cam HDR+ and Potrait work.
It would be great someone with AEX(Oreo) test this module and report the results.
Steps:
0. ROM Resurection remix Oreo(8.1). It can be found in the AospExtended ROM V5.2_V4.6 thread
1. Install Link v15F

3.Open the Gcam(installed with the point 1 module) and follow this steps:
Note: back camera is working but hdr+ is not working, is like a normal camera apk.
3 in Settings/B-S-G Mod setting
- Select Model Pixel II.
- In Manual fixed black level offset select 63.
4. Exit from setting. Close the app and Remove the gcam from the tasks.
5. Open the camera (become black because the back camera is not working) and change to front camera.
6. In Settings/Advanced options enable HDR+ control.
7. Disable Movement, Disable flash and enable HDR+ improved. Test your results against the rom camera. Attached mines.
8. Test front potrait mode. Works almost fine..there are some arifacts.
Note. if you change the app setting and the app crashes and don't let you change the settings, remove app data and start the configuration from the beginning.
Tha app allows log so maybe our great co-phone developers can make the back camera work. It would be great!!!

It works even if those color bands did not come out in the photos, it would be excellent: D this I had seen before, there is a dedicated thread of the essensial Phone and version 7 is the only one that works with Axon 7, I had tested it in the OrderKriegger ROM but I confirm and confirm that it works with AEX.
The normal selfie camera works as well, but I feel that the portrait mode has more quality in the image ... the bug made it to lose. If you like selfies this is your app ... if the front camera as in my case you have it more ... better looking to improve the rear camera! : D

I have Front camera hdr+ working on front camera....Incredible improvement of quality in special at night!!
But back camera is not working (only work when I remove gcam data and "Model" is not selected).
I hava compared the logcat on front and back camera opening and the error in the back camera is this:

I know our device camera has not Google camera API 2 implemented, but why front is working and not back? Any advice?

HDR+ is working but portrait has alot of blue and red artifacts on front camera back camera dosent work unless changing the model i hope something gets a workaround soon

After you have shoot photi check gallery
There should be hdr+ optimizing process
And there is no model selected in settings ( on yours screens)

I have set model,I can take pictures and videos on front and back.But when I go to gallery,I see nothing named hdr+

You don't have HDR+ enhanced. Of course. I could also take pictures with the back camera, but HDR+ enhanced actually takes a bunch of pictures (an 8 shot burst i think) and puts a loading circle for half a second in the middle of the screen while it does. after that, when you open the gallery it should blend them all together. If you actually see a huge difference then it works.
Use the front one and choose HDR+ enhanced, you'll see what it does if you have it configured correctly

on the front is but the back crashes though and yeah thats the thing its useless for us at the moment sigh* but slowly were getting work arounds

How do i use install fix zip file guide me please
can i install it even im not using the original rom??
Great camera experience, using this as part of PixelExperience. Reporting on 24/12 build, very stable most of the time, but some random tinkering and switching back and forth froze and and eventually force closed the camera. Camera would FC upon reopening and hard reboot reset time and date. Will try to reproduce this and provide logs.
Otherwise, 16MP with 4:3 aspect ratio would be the very sweet cherry on top, maybe there's a chance you can make it fly

Install magisk and then flash the provided .zip module through magisk......after that install the provided GCAM .apk.....

Magisk is a software firmwork which helps you to control internal working of the roms, systemlessly....
Magisk Manager is the software which helps you to control Magisk and manage the modules installed.
You need magisk firmwork flashed through a custom recovery before hand, to make Magisk manager work, so that you can add modules and other fixes.....

You need magisk installed before, you can use magisk manager to install the modules.....

Blur effect is not coming on rear camera with portrait mode. on front it is fine.....any solutions?

Did you try rear portrait mode on a person?? Cause as far as I know, portrait mode works only on people and not on objects....try doing that.... Lens Blur is what you need to blur backgrounds of objects....

Really good mod. I'm running it on LineageOS 15.1 and it works very well (some rare crashes, but mostly when navigating to Photos, not when taking pictures or recording videos). Night sight is a godsend for our device and it's crappy-on-low-light camera.
On the subject of making a great mod even better, do you have any plans to also implement support for slow-motion in this mod?

Slow motion is broken because of the drivers and not the app.
Probably the best Gcam mod around and the only one that is stable on pie roms. So, um will you update this mod anytime soon? Anyway you could add 4:3 16mp 2160p 4K mode? 11.9 mp is good but why isn't the rest of the pixels being used. Potriat mode works perfectly. Sometimes (rarely though) there is a greenish tinge to my photos. Another thing. Can you unlink it from Google photos? I mean on tapping the shot picture, it opens in photos. Can you link that to gallery instead because it takes a lot of time to load google photos on my phone. Also, when I add this app as shortcut on the lockscreen,and try to access it directly without unlocking the phone from lockscreen, it says that there is an error and camera doesn't have proper permissions and that I should grant it all permissions in settings. On checking in settings, all permissions are already granted. Can you look into that ? Otherwise a really great Job. Keep it up!

I can't select the ZIP for the fix in Magisk manager or is supposed to be installed in TWRP

Install via TWRP. Sometimes magisk doesn't recognize a zip as a magisk module. If you install via twrp magisk will be invoked automatically.
I request Miui Camera mod for the Mi 8 Lite specifically.
There is a mod for the Redmi Note 5 that apparently works on the Mi 8 Lite too, but changes several parameters of the build.prop such as the model and the device's code name. When trying to change them the mod stops working correctly and gives an error message (can not connect to the camera)
There is also GCam, but with some bugs and errors.
Anyone who can make a functional port of the Miui camera for this device?
I would also like.
I'm waiting to unlock my bootloader and then i will try to port stock camera app ??

i successfully ported stock Miui Camera to Aosp based custom roms Platina device, for now i need to fix lot of bugs. Cheers

Front camera:
Working:Short video, Beauty mode, Group selfie, filters, taking pictures with timer for both portrait and non portrait mode, Sharpnes, contrast etc,camera 2 api 24mp
Not working:
Square photo, Normal photo, Portrait, Normal video rec, age gender, with camera2 api enabled instagram not connect to front camera without libmmcamera_platina_imx576_sunny Fix
Back camera:
Working:Short video, square photo, normal photo, manual mod, filters, Beauty mode, Group selfie, Tilt-shift,Straighten, Gridlines, Timestamp, Watermark,Focus Shot,Scan qr codes, Capture or focus with volume rocker,camera 2 api
fingerprint shutter, picture quality,, sharpness and etc, camera fram 4:3 16:9, Sounds
Not working:Normal video rec, Panorama, Portrait, Ai, Led flash
Lot of bugs but no one so serious, camera connect every time so i hope i can fix everything
Known bugs:Back portrait don't work, Hdr, AI, front camera portrait work after disabled beauty mode, bad quality blur for front facing camera on white background, interface glich somethimes..
Tested on last Mokee aosp build, install this module with magisk

Install Pixel Expirience CAF last version, install stock miui camera via Magisk and restart phone, replace vendor/lib libmmcamera_platina_imx576_sunny with this lib from zip and disable Hal3 support in vendor/build.prop and restart again. After this steps Miui front camera will work with 24.8mp, also Instagram, messenger etc will work like charm on 24.8mp ....
What about with Gcam? Without HAL3 enabled, it can't be used. Would there be any way for both cameras to work? Personally, I like both applications very much.
You can open a thread where you go picking up the different revisions of this port, so more people will try it.

For now there is no way to make working both cameras alongside with camera2api and Gcam, another great thing is that I managed to port portrait for back camera and utilize both sensors for depth and main shooter, later I will made thread when i finish my work
