Low speakers sound - Sony Xperia Tablet Z - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
For about a year (maybe more) I'm having a low sound in speakers.
I am with latest software updates.
I tried Factory reset with no avail.
I also replaced the speakers to new ones, but the sound is still the same - Low.
I even peeled off the protecting cover which improved sound little - of course there was some improvement, but it is a mechanical improvement, it did not solve the original problem.
I think, tough I'm not sure, that the the problem arose after one of the version updates.
Did anyone encounter such a problem or have any solution or suggestion?
Thanks!

it is not that difficult to boost speaker volume. If you're on stock ROM you'll have to modify snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 file (you need root). If you're on a custom ROM like LOS or RR, Kernel Adiutor will do this trick for you. So there is no need in mechanical improvements.

Thanks Rootk1t.
I'm on stock ROM and I'm not planing to root it, as I'm using some apps that will not work if they recognize the tablet is rooted.
Though, I'm planing to open the bootloader and install LOS (without rooting, because of the reason above-mentioned)
In that case, is there any solution to boost speaker volume? I see that Kernel Adiutor requires root.

Boosting volume requires modifying system files, which is impossible without root. But you can hide root for required apps with Magisk. So think about it.

If I'll use Lineage ROM, will I have to be rooted in order to boost volume?
In previous answer you stated that I only need a custom ROM but no root:
"If you're on a custom ROM like LOS or RR, Kernel Adiutor will do this trick for you. "

Oxygen 3.0 and Viper4Android

Hey Guys!
I actually have been looking for a way to get Viper4Android working today. And i actually found a method to do it. By luck, OnePlus posted the Oxygen 3.0 based on android 6.0.1 today. This version of android is compatible with the newest version of Viper4Android. This version actually comes without an equalizer like 2.2... but oh well. I liked viper way better anyway.
Just wanted to give my 2 cents to the forum.. just wanted to let people know there is opportunity here to enjoy better music while you are waiting for CM 13 like me =)
How i got it to work:
- First install Oxygen 3.0 with a custom TWRP created for Oxygen 3.0 (see this url: link to oneplus forums)
- Secondly, use the custom made SuperSU (credits to @Yash98) = this link
- When the phone is updated and rooted, you can install BusyBox through the app store. After you did that download the APK of Viper on your phone via the original XDA thread
- Don't run it yet. Download SELinuxModeChanger via the original XDA thread.
- Change the mode to permissive, go back to Viper and install the drivers. It'll ask you for a reboot, do so. After the reboot open Viper4Android and press the 3 dots on the right high corner. Examining the driver status would show that the driver is enabled. If it's not. Try to empty the google music cache & removing the data (i did so somewhere in the process).
Hope this can make anybody happy. I'm an audiophile so i'm more than happy.
- Shakaraja.
The new Beta of OxygenOS 3.0 does NOT come with any audio enhancements, so you may even flash packages of audio mods, as I did

If you still are on OOS 2.2.x then V4A will not work. This fix is specifically meant for OOS 3.
If you are on OOS 3, then try reflashing OOS 3 with a clean flash. This might fix it, but only if you are on OOS 3.

My Workaround was i clicked in Viper many Menus up an down. Lock Effect Mode disable to speaker. UI Setting to Expert and suddenly the Driver Status was True.
No cleaning data. I didn´t installed google play music.
With Viper4Anroid on OO2 Oxygen3 the sound are definitly noiser and better. (Master Gain (Limiter) / Output Gaine -20db)

[F3212/F3216][KERNEL][STOCK] Stock kernels built from sources

Hi,
I will release here my updated "boot.img" files for the Xperia XA Ultra Dual Sim.
You must have an unlocked bootloader to flash with Fastboot.
You don't need to be on the same firmware as the boot image that you want to flash.
You have to flash SuperSu again from TWRP just after flashed new boot to avoid bootloop.
All boot images have "ro.secure=0" and "ro.debuggable=1" in default.prop file
and "forcencrypt" of internal memory switched to "encryptable" in fstab.mt6755 file.
The Fastboot command is:
fastboot flash boot NAMEOFIMAGE.img

Hi, it's not a Rom just a boot.img for unlocked bootloaders with stock kernel built from Sony open source archive.
36.2.B.2.109 boot should fix the front camera not focusing after root.
After testing I found out that the boot does have problems
Which are:
1-Screen doesn't turn off completely, it stays at a very dark state which can be noticed in extreme low light conditions and if u turn the screen back on u will notice a a static on the screen and then it functions normally.
2-system brightness level meter doesn't work but third party apps can be used to change that.
Hope that helps and u come with even better boot in the future and thank u in advance.

Hi, thank you for the feedback. I don't have any unlocked Ultra (only have a unlocked XA F3112) so I can't test new releases or try to debug anything. I don't make any changes to the kernel source code, only build the kernel and repack it in a stock ramdisk with very small changes for root, nothing more. I hope that an user will be able to fix bugs.

For those who are struggling with the front facing camera, I finally solved it without installing any kernel or modify anything from the system. Downgrade to 36.0.A.1.111 (should be the one one with service unit exchange or smth like that). Had installed gapps stock (but I suggest u don't delete the Sony camera app - Instagram and Snapchat work perfectly fine) + xposed + adoptable storage.
As a final mention my devie is F3211

Here's step by step what I did, I hope it will work for your device too:
1. Go to xperifirm and download the 36.0.A.1.111 firmware (service unit exchange)
2. Create a bundle on the flashtool within the firmware folder
3. Flash it
4. Happy rooting!
There is however something I have to mention about this fw: you'll probably not receive any system updates
IF U ARE A SNAPCHAT USER install Snapchat before messing the system up with xposed

Since you've mentioned snapchat allow me to ask. I'm on stock and I've just received the 36.0.B.2.109 update (hings are kinda slow in Egypt).
But no matter how many updates I get, snapchat quality is terrible on the front facing shooter. It's only good when it's really sunny. Other than that it's extremely dark to the point that sometimes you can't even recognize faces ! Have you ever run into that ? If yes or no what do you recommend ?

I had one bug with snapchat on the same firmware you are using but it was more app related rather than a camera quality issue. every time I opened sc the image would tend to get darker (not to mention the app itself was kinda slow) and the only fix I could find is moving the app back to internal storage (but again, this was an app bug). the only thing i can tell you is experimenting with other fws until you find one that could fix your issue, otherwise sorry but i have no idea.

I've had this issue on all firmwares up until the one i mentioned. And yeah i didn't even use my external usage yet, so it seems that im having a different issues although we both got dark images. I would try different firmwares but I dont know what sony did to make the battery much better on the recent firmware. I'll try messing around till I find the culprit.

By deleting root, I assume you tried to delete the root app not root access itself.
You have to go back to stock rom, install snapchat, log in, root your phone and never log out.

Honor 7 root advantages

Hi im currently using honor 7 PLK L01C185B380 without root access. I want to know since there is no custom rom like CM currently available for Honor 7, what advantages will i get from rooting my device?
Are there any good kernels available that i can use with the stock rom?

there is pretty decent cm 13 in dev thread ... actually i am using it and i am overall happy with it except some minor things.
for root:
there's so many things you can do with root, a few things important to me:
- root most likely also means you have custom twrp, with twrp you can completely backup your device to have a safe return to point
- better battery stats
- xposed with all its modules
- titanium backup to have individual app backups completely with all data
- freeze/disable/remove system apps
- cpu adjustments
- firewall
- proxy
- adaway
- tasker
xposed is one of best adventages of rooting. adblock, all cool mods etc...

Did you root using the XDA guide?
I just hate the fact that my data will be lost after unlocking the bootloader, that's the only thing that's stopping me
rooted like this:

- no wipe
- done

Yeah but you had to unlock the bootloader right?
For me most advantages about rooting/twrp are:
-Installing BusyBox
-Viper4Android (you'll need 3rd part music app to hear the changes, stock have DTS sound)
-Changing Calendar dates to my language like Ataasinngorneq (Monday) (Greenlandic is not an option in language settings)
-Xposed to use Softkeys Fade mod, double tap notification to turn off screen (after installing Xposed, booting takes time, be patient, took little over 5 mins)
-Installing Kernel Adiutor
I'm using stock PLK-L01 B370.
I always do it in that order.
Root access has become a must for all my devices
Here's my use/advantages of root access:
-First of all, I use Greenify that has the functionality of close every app in the background, even system apps. This with root access, Greenify can works in background while I'm doing something else with the phone. With this app, my battery last longer.
-I use custom recovery, witch allow me to flash mods that requires root. I use mods to increase the phone's performance and adblocker like AdAway, blocking ads also make browser loading faster and uses less data because I don't load any ad. Other useful mods are sound mods like Dolby Atmos or Viper, that boost sound volume and quality, increasing the experience of sound on our devices.
-Full control of the the phone. With root access I can use Kernel Auditor in order to monitor and control my phone's CPU, memory usage etc..
-Xposed Framework. I don't think it needs explaination, it would be also too long ?
-Use of substratum, with this app I can customize more the phone, change navigation bar, boot animation, system sounds.
-There are countless things you can do with root access, on XDA you will keep finding out new and amazing mods and things that requires root!

Wyrm's collection of small useful hacks for Moto G4.

This is a collection of small changes to fix things on my Moto G4 XT1626 that others may find useful.
ElementalX 1.02 with DTV driver:
This is the great and stable ElementalX Kernel from flar2, without any code changes, but with the ISDBT TV kernel driver that he didn't include in the official version, useful for XT1626 owners that want root but need the DTV receiver working.
Disable esdfs:
This is a magisk module (can also be flashed if you don't use magisk) to disable ESDFS and use FUSE instead, so apps like apps2sd work properly on the moto G4 or G4 Plus.
MotoG4 incall record enabler:
This is a magisk module (can also be flashed) that changes the mixer controls mapping to allow incall recording using any playstore app(even without root). Tested with ACR, works fine. This was made for Stock Nougat, untested on other roms.
I will add more quirks and mods I develop in the future to this thread.
Working Fine ?

I want to know too. My model is XT1626
Doesn't the last ElementalX has the DTV driver included already? I believe flar2 started including the DTV driver a couple weeks after I created this thread.

Thank you very much, in particular for the call recording. Although the recording app I had been using (CallRec) did not detect the new VOICE_COMMUNICATION stream, as you mention in the OPs it works fine with ACR. I'm running it in recent LOS 14.1 Athene builds on an XT1625.
One (somewhat off topic) question: I switched from LOS SU to Magisk in order to install this module. Except for a few other apps that seem to prefer LOS SU I'm happy with Magisk managing SU but in case I want to switch back to LOS SU ...is there a way to get this installed while using LOS SU. Perhaps this is a question for the Magisk thread but I've found no answers by searching so I'm starting here. Thanks again!

All this modules does is replace/bind (mount -bind), /system/etc/mixer_paths.xml with a custom version. You can do the same with a shell script, luckypatcher, or any other root app that alows you to selectively replace files in the system. You can also simply replace the file directly in LOS's /system/ if you want to make it permanent and don't care about keeping /system untampered.
Hope we can have call recording on LOS
hello plz help me in to enable call recordings in moto g5 plus
please friend

Please friend, you could include the DTV XT1626 driver in this kernel Vegito:
mega.nz/#!1R8XSRCD!L1pQiukRxflWfdPfiKmO13rIRdUn1RLaXUhFeGsIsuU
This kernel works best with the XT1626
yeah would be great
I can use DTV drivers on xt1625?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app

I desperately needed call recording feature on my Moto G4 Plus so I updated it myself to work with the latest version of Magisk (17.1). Here the file if you need it : drive.google.com/file/d/1fcO6FqFVXCUtwrFVTEijUG3LDaOWRmBP/view?usp=sharing

I gave your version a try because I'm also running Magisk 17.1 and it trashed my system, wasn't expecting that much fun to happen.
After I installed module and rebooted the phone it just went to recovery mode, was forced to do a full reset.
Others be warned, try at your own risk...

FWIW I once used this on a Moto G4 Athene XT1625 running LOS 14.1 and Magisk 16x with no problems. Don’t know about Magisk 17 as I use LOS SU except when specifically testing something else but it's a simple mod which really "should" not cause that much trouble. In any event once you get your device back in shape you could try to enable call recording manually: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73603492&postcount=9.
[EDIT] Added details about device on which I had tested this in Magisk.

Thanks for your reply!
I agree that the mod should not have caused so much trouble, which is why I was a little shell shocked when it refused to boot to anything other than recovery. I'd just got the device set up nice and hadn't done a TWRP backup yet, so getting it back up and running again was a little painful, but perhaps good in a way as I'd learnt what didn't work well first time round, so this time it's lean and mean...
I've taken a look at the files enclosed in the mod (I know, I should have done that before installing it ... doh! ) and discovered that the location of mixer_paths.xml is different on my system, it's in /vendor/etc/ so I went ahead and swapped the modded file (I have root access) with my one and rebooted, phone came up with no sound output at all, so it looks like my newer system (and device, it's a Moto E5 XT1944-6) are not compatible with the modded mixer_paths.xml file.
I'd like to know which elements of the modded mixer_paths.xml file were change to make it work on the G4, I could then try to add/edit those particular ones in my mixer_paths.xml file to see if it works.
I have a backup of my original file so no pain in trying new settings....
For reference I'm running this ROM on my phone,
[GSI][8.1.0][OFFICIAL] Resurrection Remix O v.6.1.0 [08/18][ARM/ARM64]
it's quite impressive...

It shouldn't have caused so much trouble. It worked successfully on each of my friends Moto G4 Plus running stock ROM.

Question Anyone anaged to get an audiomod to work on OnePlus Nord 2 5G?

Hello,
After not touching any root related stuff in the last 2 years, I decided to root my new oneplus nord 2. It is running android 11.
I have magisk manager and I wanted to install an audio mod on it. First I tried Viper4Android, which didn't work in any way I tried, and cannot change SELinux to permissive sadly. V4A keeps prompting me to install the drivers even tho they are visible in Magisk.
After that I went to JamesDSP and tried installing that too. Tried both flashing it with Magisk, as well as installing the apk. In both cases as soon as I open the JamesDSP app, it opens up for half a second than closes again.
I've noriced the audio mod apps are kind of finicky. Was hoping some of you guys might be able to suggest some things I can try that I am unaware of. Or maybe an audio mod alternative that I haven't heard about?

Ok I will taste some audio mods and let you know which is working for nord2
You're the real MVP. There's a chance I did something wrong or some detail I've missed along the way as quite some things have changed since I was into rooting and all these stuff.
