I purchased a couple Tx3 mini's off of AliExpress. I have them setup on an Ethernet cable and seems to be working fine. However, I plan on sending these to someone who is not technologically savvy. I expect them to want to get it on their WiFi connection. I have been testing it at my house and I cannot seem to get it to connect to my WPA2/802.11N SSID. All my normal devices connect fine, with some of them being Android. I have tried changing my SSID password and rebooting my access point, to no avail. Has anyone run into this problem?

hello
i was so looking forward to getting my new x10 mini pro only to find a few faults some of which i can live with until 2.1 comes out (should really be 2.2 & sooner) but i cannt seem to connect to my wireless router.
i have tried several different methods, including going through all the wireless channels on the router, enable mac address filter and have only my x10 set, try all the differents security settings - but still i cannot get my phone to obtain an ip address before it gives me the unsuccessful message.
so went to mcdonalds tried their openzone and connected fine to their network.
now my next guess would be is my router is old (about 4 years maybe more) linksys WRT54GS so anyone know of any problems with specific routers at all?
i know i had problems setting up my godsons ipod touch with my router, but didnt dig any deeper on it as he wasnt fussed about it at the time - so think it could be that but will hold off rushing out to get a new router for a while yet, probably to test some other peoples routers first.
Is you SSID hidden?
I have found that on some routers, Android phones in general won't connect if the SSID is hidden.

The WRT54GS should be a perfect router to use.
Make sure you are running latest dd-wrt firmware on it, setup wifi security as : WPA2 Personal Mixed, TKIP+AES
I have these settings and phone connects easily.
Its a good router, do as above poster advised and definitely get latest firmware on. Try going on just G mode if there's no B-only old wifi gadgets in your house.

I noticed my wife's X10 mini won't connect to Channels 12 and 13. If your router is on one of those channels, try moving it to 11.
I have difficulties connecting to my wifi router at home, SMC Barricade N2, WPA2 authentication, it works only after resetting the router.
Now after turning off TKIP cypher suite (only AES), it works perfectly
update: and also helped to enable static IP... but I am using wifi only @home
Had the same problem. Changed to Channels 11 and detected imediatly my wifi network.
Hi, I have a different problem with the wifi.
At work and some other connections I've seen to have an open wifi, which i can freely connect.
However, I am still unable to browse the internet as it requires some browser authentication.
I've seen other fones (Nokia and Iphone) have their browsers popup a webpage to input the credentials.
but my mini pro doesn't display this page.
i've already tried going directly to the login url manually but still doesn't display the login page.
someone told me that this might be a limitation of android but haven't seen any reports about it...
i also saw and tried 2 apps (Open Wifi Login and Browser Wifi Login) that should have solved this but did not.
Has anyone else had this experience?
Help please....
shameless self-bump
other fones seem to have the same issue but no solution...

I have recently returned to my apartment with my brand new archos 70. I use WPA2-PSK encryption for my wifi network. at first everything was golden, I could browse the web and whatnot just fine. as of a few days ago, wifi has not been working correctly. my device connects to the network (pulls an ip address from the router) but when I try to browse web pages or open web based apps they hang up and act as if I have no connection. it works fine on other networks (to limit the problem to my network) I have tried doing a factory reset of the device, tried power cycling my router and modem with no luck. I have also changed encryption types to no avail. i have the latest firmware for the gen 8 series. also from time to time during this session of events, sometimes it will connect to the router, then disconnect and reconnect. I have no clue whats going on because I havent changed any router settings since I got back. the only other devices on my wifi network are two laptops. any help would be appreciated.
you mean you restored to the factory settings ran through the start up all over again and it still won't connect to your router? have you tried any other types of connections or routers?
I had this problem just the other night was this close to reformatting the whole thing. but I solve the problem by turning the device off, then holding the reset button while it rebooted to turn it off again, an reinitializing the drivers.
how do you reinitialize the drivers? I did a factory wipe. and it connects, it shows as having network connectivity (even my router lists it as a dhcp client and currently making use of the access point) but no internet functions work. ive connected to other networks fine.
This happened to me when I first got my A70. What I had to do to fix it (after getting incredibly pissed, reformatting twice, and almost returning the thing) was to set it up to use a static IP address on my home wifi network. Don't know if it'll solve your problem, but it works beautifully for me and I'm able to enjoy the device now.
Just remember to uncheck "use static IP address" when you get on other wifi networks.
well, I set up static addressing, gave it a private ip, set up the gateway and dns, and it still wont connect to anything.
If set as wireless N, set as N+G or G only, latest firmware may have trouble connecting to wireless N networks.
na, I dont have it set to n, I have it set to auto which I believe puts it to g with my archos. thing is, it used to work. now it suddenly has problems.
Im beginning to wonder if the archos tablets are just picky about wireless routers. I wouldnt think so...
Upgrade the firmware
Archos published a firmware upgrade to solve this problem (December 2010). The related bug in the release notes is...
Wi-Fi: fix Wi-Fi stuck after a while when using WPA2/AES encryption mode
The new firmware download link is in the Archos website.
you can download the firmware to your computer, copy it to the root directory of the tablet using the USB cable, and run the upgrade process in the tablet.
... or you can use another WiFi network (without WPA2/AES) and download the update in the same tablet
Note: I cannot send the links, however you can use the information to search the links in the internet.
my x10 (android 2.3.3, previously 2.1) refuses to connect to my home's wifi. i will click connect, and it will say 'connecting...' stay like that for a while, and then eventually will appear 'disconnected'. i don't believe it is the router, as the following things in my household connect to the wifi effortlessly:
- my brother's iphone 4
- my HP laptop
- my brother's toshiba laptop
- my 3rd gen. ipod touch
my old dell laptop connected to it, fine, also.
i am able to connect to my university's wifi without any problems, too, so i really don't know why it doesn't seem to like my home wifi. i have tried 'forgetting' the network, re-entering the password, i've done a hard reset, i've taken the battery out and put it in back in. there is no avail.
does anyone have a clue of what could be causing this?

Restart your router, turn it off for about roughly 10 seconds, and also you might want to check if there is an IP limit to your router. Or simply try inputting the IP settings manually if either of those fail.
Try updating your routers firmware.
My x10 is a funny beast with wifi as this example shows
At my workplace they use exactly the same model and type of router throughout the building, purchased at the same time. However, due to some of the routers being updated and some not my x10 only picks up the routers with tha latest firware. The others it doesnt even see....
A very strange problem that even my friends in the IT department are confused about, but it goes to show how fickle the x10 is with wifi routers
Hi,
I have a wireless router that allows me to plug in a Hard drive / SD Card etc. It can be a bridge to another network or an Access Point etc but can also just be a LAN without an internet connection allowing access to the connected devices.
This works perfectly on my Nexus tablet / PC etc, however, on my Mate 20 Pro, the connection is unstable to the point of not being able to use it. I get a notification saying the WiFi connection doesn't have an internet connection I press connect anyway and from there it keeps dropping and reconnecting the connection.
If I plug the router into a network point and give it an internet connection it works perfectly on the Mate 20 and any other devices.
I think this is some clever connection manager thing Huawei is doing to try to connect to the internet but can't find a way to stop it. I am going travelling and wanted to only take the router and my phone however it is looking like I will need to take my tablet too to use it for what I need.
I've searched and searched the internet and here for clues but nothing so I am hoping someone has an idea.
Thanks
Andrew
I tried to connect my Mikrotik hap ac2 in tethering to my new smartphone Moto 5 5G plus either via USB or WIFI, But I'm going through some issues I haven't yet managed to work out. As for the first case, via usb, I plugged my smatphone to it and started tethering usb on my smartphone, but the LTE interface has never appear in my Mirkotik's available interface as it always happened with every other devices I used to plug before. I see that it get be recharged, but not internet connection available. There is no issue with my phone since both wifi and tethering connection work great if I plug or connect it to my pc or notebook. Maybe there is not enough power supply?
Second case. I then tried to connect my Mikrotik to my smartphone via tethering wifi by enabling the 5Gh antenna and starting a scan to find any wifi connection available. Mikrotik sees another home router's wifi signal but no way it see my smartphone 5gh signal.
Futhermore, my old smartphone can connect to the router either in 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz mode, but it can connect in tethering to my new MOTO only in 2.4Ghz.
So there must be something wrong with the MOTO, I guess
I did several attempt and I don't know what happened, but it seems that my mikrotik can see and connect to the Moto's 2.4Ghz signal in tethering (station mode) now, but I can't browse the Internet. I don't know why.
Could anyone help figure it out and fix it?
Thanks
