I found in another forum a couple of files which allow us to add MegaBass, one of the most beloved features of Sony Ericsson's W(alkman) phone series. I bundled them in an update.zip to be flashed with Clockwork Mod, and given that they work in all Xperia phones, I've decided to spread them around
I hope it's useful!
MegaBass Installer
MegaBass Uninstaller
*Note* I didn't make these files nor am I savvy enough to discuss their effect. They've been tested in most models with success, though, so again, I distribute them in the hope that they can be useful.
Does this increase the bass more than equalizer does with the bass booster setting? And does it only work with headphones too?
EDIT: Hmm I don't really hear a difference..

Hi there!
I've stumbled upon a couple of files which have been found to add the MegaBass feature, trademark of the old W phone series of Sony Ericsson, to the Xperia line. It's been tried successfully on both Xperia X8 and Xperia Play, so I'm confident that it can be of help.
I hope it's useful!

Awesome logs
You want (superior) MegaBass? Buy a SE W580i
Or if you want to stay with Play, I recommend for everyone to use THIS application.
Buy it (or not, but supporting dev is nice) and have fun with AWESOME bass effects.
Here are the amazing settings I use on my X10i:
Bass boost: 50%
EQ
1st band: +10 dB
2nd band: +6 dB
3rd band: 0 dB
4th band: +2 dB
5th band: +4 dB
(these are a bit too massive use below softer options instead for the sake of you hearing)
Bass boost: 45% (recommended value, but set it as you desire)
EQ
1st band: +8 dB
2nd band: +3 dB
3rd band: 0 dB
4th band: +2 dB
5th band: +4 dB
Added uninstaller.
does this work on CYnaongen?
I can't see anything..no options in settings, music player, anywhere.
There are no options or the like. it's just a tweak in the music player.
this affects all music players right? like playerpro ?
Regardless , i applied the tweak , thanks for anyone who made it

I've had all kinds of responses from the different Xperia forums... From "this is mind blowing" to "this doesn't work". I'm puzzled to say the least.
OMG!!!!
I love listening to music, this is the main reason why I still stick myself with iPod Classic. But right after I applied this, my Xperia Play has such a great improvement in Bass and it totally increase my music experience with this little monster! I don't store a lot of music in my SD Card as I mainly use my iPod Classic but I have scrolled through many songs in my Play and their bass are super good now! I could really feel a huge different in Kamikaze - Owl City!
This is the best tweak I've met so far. You will need such a hi-end headset too enjoy the improvement here.
Thank you very much. VERY VERY VERY Recommended for the music lovers!

people need to report their results using the standard built in media player, maybe no difference in third part apps like poweramp

Just a thought, you might not notice the difference with poweramp as it has its own built in equaliser which is quite good IMO. Did you try the stock media player? also try disabling any other equalisers you have and ensure no other media player is running.
Also would be nice to know which versions of android people are testing this on.

Has anyone tried this yet? Does it improve the sound quality significantly?
Saw it, haven't tested it myself as I really don't care about audio quality! 192kbs mp3 format is good enough for my ears, lol!
I try it and it works pretty good... it sounds pretty good
I have this on my atrix its ok!

Tried it: fantastic sound!!!
Sweet thanks guys!
Seems the guy removed his thread, anyone still got the .zip and can put it up somewhere? cheers.
edit: other dev has it up on the forum it seems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226
Hello, I have a weird problem that recently developed, and this is the only thing I can think of that could cause it. Many formats previously compatible now give me a "format not supported" when attwmping to play them in the stock media players. Some examples are mkv, avi, and even some wav! Has anyone else experienced this after appying this mod, or is it something else I've done?
UPDATE: YES! I uninstalled the beats mod, and confirm (for me anyway) that this does make some audio/video files incompatible with the stock players.
O I thought that had something to do with the files. I just switched to MX video player to solve the problem.
Another problem: this mod makes hardware video playback impossible even with the build.prop tweak to enable it.
hi guys ive got glxy s2, but i cant hear low fq basses using default player.. which player can do that? give me a link to download... which is the best? to make me feel good
power amp
You can always find and install dspmanager apk.

n7player!!!
there is no "the best" music player. Someone swear for that app someone for another. There are just opinions about these players.
Anyway, i would give a +1 to poweramp, and I'd mentioned Cloudbreaker. It is also a nice one, I think. I used to use poweramp as well as nhely, just after 30 days it didnt work for free, and i should bought it to use it again (maybe for ever).
I would NOT recommend winamp!
And yes, u can install that dspmanager, and u can use EQ. But if u are a "whiteear", then u dont wanna do it. In that way u kill the music. Try to use quality head/earphones just like AKG, Senheiser. It matters a lot, trust me!
+1 for poweramp aswell
Best Bass Music App
How about the ported Beats Audio apk from the HTC Rezound?? Doesn't that give you all the EQ adjustments that made that phone so special?

Hi,
I see that your ROM has some bugs and you need a tester. Im available btw. Anytime you make a new build, hit me up! Btw I installed the lastest build. Everything else is fine. Just no Video Playing in gallery video player app FCs and still NO SOUND! :'( Otherwise everything is perfect. And performance tab in settings doesnt work either.

Sound Quality
So far i like the rom, but i noticed when tyring to listen to music on google play, the sound quality was pretty bad. When listening, the sound was scratchy and using the equalizer settings didnt seem to change the quality much, or just made it worse. When I go to my phone with the same exact EQ settings, it sounds far better and clearer with no scratching. The scratchyness almost sounds like the speaker is going out. But the headphones sound great every where else.
I was hoping someone might now a way to fix this, or if this was a known issue on this rom currently.

wait for next build and clean flash it, maybe it will be ok
Does not work with SGP321.. flashed the boot.img via fastboot and installed the ROM via TWRP... Turns ON.....Shows optimizing apps.... Starting Apps.... Says Enjoy and then goes for bootloop... Downloaded the lollipop Pollux version.... cleaned the whole system before flashing (System, data, cache, dalvik)..
Any suggestions?

Hey everyone, I have noticed some really weird issues with both, the SoundCloud app and the website on my Poco f1. I've seen people address this in some other forums but it never got much attention. The weird part of all this is that the whole "muffling effect" happens ONLY in SoundCloud, while youtube and other music players work just fine. Also I think that it's worth mentioning that the issue is present in the stock rom and so far, it's also present in the pixel experience and bootleggers ROMs (I haven't tried other ones so I'm not sure). I use SoundCloud as my daily music player, so if anyone knows some workaround or maybe some way to fix it it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
