Hi
An issue with the camera on my P20 Lite has existed since it was bought
Specially when taking photos in partially dark environment, the camera now and then continues to take several images, very fast. Sometimes the camera takes 4 photos, other times 2 photos, and in worst case the camera has to be shut down to stop taking photos
If the phone has screen protection or not doesnt matter, it can happen anyway
Factory reset has been done
Should it be like that? Has it something to do with settings?
Others with similar experiences?

Hi all, I have been noticing a constant problem w/ my stock 3D EVO -- The camera takes great pictures when in 2D, but the "right" lens for the camera always produces a very "blurred" image, almost like one is nearsighted and needs glasses. I just bought the phone a week ago, and has been like that with every picture I've taken. I've cleaned both lenses multiple times, and still have that issue. Looking at a 3D video on my laptop, it's drastically more "dull" than the left side. It's this way on the phone as well.. Anyone had this issue or know what could be causing it? Any fix? Unless I missed something in search, didn't see any complaints.
So ive been using my xperia s for 4 months now and ive noticed that the camera capabilities is really close to perfect when taking pictures under very good lighting conditions but under low light, the exmor r is really bad.. I always end up getting either noisy, grainy, and blurry pictures.
whenever i switch to night mode and take a picture on low lighting environment, everytime the camera locks on ( green square thing) i see a very sharp and perfect pic. But as i snap it, the picture that comes out is not even half as good. And whats worst is that 4 out 5 shots are blurry. i dont know if this is a software issue or hardware. Im currently on ics. 452 firmware.
You can clearly see a perfect picture when you half press using night mode. But as you press it all the way, its a whole different pic. Is this a bug? Also, im really struggling at times taking still shots. The problem doesnt occur under good lighting conditions thats why im suspecting its probably a software bug. Anybody experiencing the same?
Search the forums, its a well known fault. Doesn't seem to be a fix that I've seen unfortunately.
Sent from my HP Touchpad via xda app.
Yea, I have the same problem, try using 3rd party apps, like FV-5 Camera, and try using as low ISO setting as possible to get perfetct pictures at night, but you must hold your hand still, I really don't like XS camera since it's not as good as SONY says, but apps make it better
Multi autofocus makes it a bit better for me also in low light.
i think it will be better if you use touch focus
So far life's good. The battery life is solid, fast charging is unbelievably impressive, screen quality is great and the speaker is impressive. Being new to LG coming from the M9 I'm not sure how to do the following with the camera: Bokeh (blurred focus shots) and Macro shots.
These were options on the M9 as camera settings.
Does anyone know if these are settings or how to set great bokeh or macro shots in manual mode? Any help would be huge. Also if anyone knows how to turn off swipe on the keyboard that would be a bonus too. Thanks in advance.
Can't help with the Bokeh. Macro shots seem to be pretty easy to take on this phone though, point and shoot.
As for the keyboard, go into keyboard settings, and turn off "Path input"
The Bokeh effect isn't on the LG Camera (yet I'm hoping) and it doesn't work on the Google Camera.
I've had a problem with the camera not focusing properly on the regular lens, not on the wide angle lens. It's happened a couple of times now. I thought the lens was just dirty but no matter how much I cleaned it, the lens just couldn't focus properly. I tried focusing on multiple items, near, far, single point, multiple points, etc, but pics were still blurry. Both times I just rebooted the phone as last resort and it seemed to fix the problem. Must be some kind of software issue. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix without having to reboot every time it happens?

Yes same problem. Is this only in Google camera for you? It was in every app for me. I had to exchange it.
It was on the built in camera app on the G5. I've since cleared the cache and haven't had the issue come up again.
In the new camera app, it appears you can't set the normal camera to take multiple pictures if you hold down the camera button. This functionality is something I used literally all the time, it is the only way to get a good not-posed picture. Also, although the light wasn't good this morning, the quality of photos seems to have become worse.
seems to have been replaced by some near useless sub-app called Time Shift, but those pica A) aren't full resolution and B) force you to pick one picture out of the 30 or so it took right now possibly missing another pic.
Does anyone know how to get a useful camera back.
I don't know it works with front facing camera, but holding down for multiple shots is still there.
There are many apps that just wont work properly with either this aspect ratio or this camera.
Other peoples instagram stories get cut off on the sides and no matter if i do hide notch + nav bar to make aspect ratio better i doesn't fix it. And this has been a problem apparently for 9 months on other phones with similar aspect ratio.
Snapchat selfie camera is extremly zoomed in and very low quality. Also after pressing the button to take the picture it takes 1 second before it takes the actual picture and if oyu move your phone at all during that 1-1.5 seconds it becomes blurry.
There's some other apps where using the camera in those apps just makes it look bad, it even crops the rear camera and mostly on the front camera.
I feel like spending 900$ on a phone that looks worse than my old honor 8 on instagram and snapchat and other apps is really discouraging. Some of these problems happened on the P20 and they never got fixed with snapchat/instagram updates so if you experience this and think it'll get fixed don't hold your breath. Snapchat really feels unusable and before you say "The phone does alot of other things than snapchat and instagram" i don't care. It the 2 apps I use the most daily, to write to people in groups, to talk to people to send photos to look at stories. That's why i bought this phone with it's amazing screen and camera.
Highly disappointed and I HOPE that i'm just dumb and there's an easy fix but I've been searching all day since I got the phone and nothing has helped.
This is just a warning for anyone wanting to buy this phone. If i don't find something to fix these issues I'm returning it first thing tomorrow.
I've been seeing people report issues with Snapchat and Instagram on various phones for the past two years. I don't think it's a phone problem but if those apps are so important to you it would probably be worthwhile to reach out to other users and find out which phones have no issues with those particular apps.

Yeah I realize it's not fully huawei's fault. But I do know there is a way to fix it on oneplus by changing settings in the oxygenOS camera app that then affect the snapchat settings. On huawei changing settings in main camera app changes nothing for instagram and snap so it's unfixable atm.
Alot would be fixed if huawei/samsung or w/e offered 16:9 mode for apps that gives them blackbars so i can actually read full text and not have cutoffs.

I haven't owned a One Plus phone since the OP5 but there were lots of reports of problems with both of those apps on that phone. Owners reported that pictures were very poor quality and in some cases had a strange green color tint. I've seen complaints about problems with those apps in threads for literally every single phone I have owned since the OP5.
I have also seen people plug One Plus phones (like you just did) in XDA threads for multiple phones by Xiaomi and Huawei which is strange--why buy phones from One Plus competitors and then turn around and complain that One Plus phones are better?
If I had a dollar for every post I've seen like that on XDA over the past several years I would probably have enough money to pay for another Mate 20 Pro.
