If you are using your Nexus 6p as a concert camera, please share your footage.
The last good concert camera I had was the Motorola Atrix, which clearly recorded sound even at death metal shows.
Let's see how the mic on the Nexus 6p holds up to loud concert music. The low light capabilities. should also help get some good footage.
Hope its good still end up getting the best audio on my errrr iphone

Ditch the iPhone, it records low bit rate mono audio. Unacceptable in 2015.

Ive got a concert coming up on the 5th so two nights. It is my first concert with the 6P and ill be bringing along my Lumia 1020 as I always do so ill be interested in comparing the two.
This is one thing i always research now when buying a phone. my current htc m8 do an excellent job in loud concerts. my old lg g2 was totally crap, that was when i started searching about good mics on phones.

The Atrix had the best microphones. I recorded a video playing music very loud in my car and it was so clear, viewers thought I was playing it over the video and YouTube flagged the song.
This is a video I shot on my Atrix at Paganfest 2012 in Dallas.
No other phone I have had has come close to being able to record this good. Everyone elses recordings from that show sounded terrible.
(Alestorm - Scottish Pirate Metal band, for those who are interested)

Im curious about video performance. Most concerts have led backlights and my previous phones can no make out the pictures on the led board it just shows blured out lights but no details in the pictures.

Same....recorded my son in his guitar concert with my G2 and it all sounded like distorted crap (it didnt help the song was LOUD to begin with, but I was hoping it would handle better than it did)
Will try the N6P next time Im at some form of concert.

Photos (including HDR+, Bursts, regular) and Video (including 1080p directly in front of speaker and slow-mo) from a concert/beer release last night:

I took these the night I got the phone. Didn't change a setting on the camera app. Also note that some of the shots are crap, this is no way indicative of the camera as I was drinking pretty heavily that night. Anyhow, some of them are pretty nice given the crazy lighting.

I have honestly yet to see a camera phone even come close to producing noise free pictures in a concert setting, this is up there in terms of quality.

And I have no intention of blowing these up to poster size and printing them off.
Some shots from last night's black metal warfare in New Orleans. Watain and Mayhem.
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the honor 5X come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Could someone post a picture with the camera zoomed in on something? I have the nexus 6p and would like to see what a zoomed in photo looks like.
Thanks

zoom focus is appalling in function. hardware probably all good enough and purely poor software !
Lack of updates addressing this is my biggest annoyance with Huawei. They happy ignore it and just spend the resources on pushing next device .
Low light photos are bad as well
I would cut them some slack on low level shots but good light and poor focus response is ridiculous, should of been resolved in updates but no .
rip their updates
13 mp shooter really does its job,
Love the front cam
Photo quality is really superb.
The quality is decent, all things considered. However I've been having a lot of problems with the focus. It regularly drifts completely out of focus and then slowly (over the next 30 seconds to a minute) drifts back. Tapping to focus does nothing in this case. It's really irritating when I'm shooting video. I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem, but I suspect the AF unit is on the fritz.
How can I improve a better quality on photos, I see that photo is really bad on ambiental light

I had this problem with my Oneplus One a while back. All my low-light photos had terrible color and noise. However it was fixed when I flashed a rom with a custom camera hal (color os hal to be specific) and it was a night and day difference. Colors were spot-on, noise was almost completely gone in low-light. The camera app itself also seems to have a big role in picture quality. If it wasn't for the oneplus one having the same camera hardware as China's oppofind7 phone (which runs color os), the corporation wouldn't have made an effort to create the color os camera hal. So its kind of a unique situation I guess.
Just as what the title says, do you guys think these G5 camera shots are normal? Why?
To me they look mostly terrible, especially when zoomed in, the pics would go blurry and painting-like. Lots of grains in low lights. I hope this is normal though.
I'm wondering how this handset is even a flagship

Really appreciate your confirmation. I just thought mine was defective and that I needed to get it replaced before the warranty is out. Mine is a G5 SE by the way.
Still, this selfie shot of my pal bugs me out, given plenty of light and the shot still looks like sht. I mean it doesn't look good enough to my taste, rather too cartoonish sigh../:
Photo's aren't meant to be zoomed into unless you take them manual RAW.
The selfie I would say the mouth moved causing the weirdness.
The photo's on the my G5 are excellent and manual is as good as you'll get outside of an SLR.
Reading the specs for the G5 SE, seems it's a different processor? Probably accounts for the shots coming out a bit blurry if the processor can't keep up. If the processor is cut down the the phone you have isn't a flagship
I would get an S6 or S7 if you're not happy, as the iphones cameras are pants.

Well, that sounds like bad news I wanted to love this phone. Anyways thanks for clearing it up for me
Video recording is tough for me as well. My brother took some amazing videos with iPhone SE compared to my blurry ones. As for the photos Simple & Auto are the worst. I'm guessing it has something to do with software. Try Manual, tinkering with the settings, and you'll notice the difference.

Wow superb shots you got there! So your G5 in simple & auto mode takes about as bad quality still pics as mine? like water color paintings?
G5 is bad in taking macro shots, on the contrary it's very good in panorama shots.

G5 takes amazing shots, I use it for my instagram, it's fantastic!!!!
If you want very sharp shots, use manual mode, manual focus and shoot in DNG.
The wide angle lens loses lots of details in darker environment, but still so fun to use.

So my G5 SE is normal isn't it? I don't need to RMA it right?

Hi guys and girls.
I am looking to purchase a X to replace my current faulty phone.
I often use my phone as a lecture recorder, and I was wondering what the recording quality is like? It is good enough that I can still make out a lecturer with the thickest of accents.
Thanks,

I hope this will be helpful. What phone were you using? for recording? Look, in my opinion, the sound quality of the X's mic IS AMAZING. I don't know if it's because I had a bad phone previously, but I will give you some examples.
+Can record from big distance
+Can record when very noisy and won't be distorted
+Can record voice/voices talking even from a fair distance VERY clear (sounds like real life)
+I tried recording my mechanical keyboard, the sound I got beats most videos I have found on the internet (was more realistic and clear)

Hi there,
I was previously using a Samsung Galaxy S5.
But yeah, took your advise, and bought the phone. On superior quality, it's absolutely superb even when files sizes are 500mb+ for 40-50 minutes.

But it has some kind of automatic control
I have an Exynos S9+ (SM-G965F) with no SD card, I'm using WQHD+ screen resolution and recording at UHD 3840x2160 30fps in auto mode. HDR is on auto and image stabilization is on.
I haven't done too much testing but all the footage I've recorded so far has been a stuttery mess.
My other issue is that the 4K recordings don't upload to youtube at 4K, they are all capped at 1080p and look pretty garbage on top of all the stuttering and distortion. I've checked with 10 second clips over 4 days to make sure it wasn't still processing. I've tried both direct uploads and moving files to PC and then uploading but it makes no difference.
One interesting thing to note is that when I play my own youtube video back on the S9 I get the option to watch at 1440p but that doesn't exist anywhere else.
If anyone has any helpful information I would appreciate it.
Mine has same issue. You need to either record 4k 30fps with video stabilisation turned off, or, 4k 60fps which automatically turns off video stabilisation. Video stabilisation is only software EIS anyways. The phone will still use the hardware OIS. For some reason sanding aren't able to get OIS and EIS to play well together.
This issue has been fixed in the latest update (BRE5 for my international device). I had it on my device too, but only in 4k 30fps. Now its fixed.

It is still a little bit clunky, the only resolutions I got the most stable shots are in FHD60 and FHD30 (without video stabilization). Surprisingly, FHD60 is not jerky at all, only sacrificing quality compared to 4k.

30 FPS 4K now recording fine without stutter or choppiness? That's great. I will test it myself. But I've started to prefer 60 FPS as it's much smoother than 30 FPS.

Is 4K60FPS still choppy and stuttering for you? 60FPS is fine for me.
I had the same problem before the BRE5 update, only with stabilization on and UHD30FPS, It's fixed now but I prefer 60fps and OIS either way.

Not anymore, but I am not getting smooth videos out of it. FHD60 seems to be the balance between more stable videos and without stuttering.
With 4k60, no stuttering but videos are unstable.
FHD30 with stabilization on is great too, but sometimes choppiness strikes.

Yeah, im recording at 60fps too, much smoother than 30fps. And if you keep your phone steady, OIS is enough for nice footage.
Hey guys can you confirm that HDR works only in 30fps video modes? I noticed difference while recording in4k60 and 4k30. Same with FHD60 and FHD30
That choppiness shaking and floating makes Samsung s9+ and basically all other Samsung's unusable.... My iPhone 6 plus feels like a professional camera vs this hyped up camera gimmick
