Had the same notification. Came for few seconds and went away. It started to download "Facebook" application on play store even when I already had it installed. I am worried now.
I am on Xiaomi.eu rom (device: mido), Stormguard kernel with Magisk canary build
Did u have any of these installed?

[BUG REPORTING] DizzyDen's IMEIme IMEI Generator

BUG REPORTING:
This program was initially ineteded to generate a unique IMEI based on your device S/N and update Dev's install zip files... it has become so much more, and as such there are many functions involved in this process.
Due to the complexity the program has taken on... far beyond what I initially intended... to report bugs please try to use the following as a template:
Function attempting: i.e. Updating ROM... In Place Upgrade... Update framework saved on computer... etc.
Error Messages: any error message you receive... or the last message you saw prior to the issue.
End result: i.e. TelephonyManager updated, ROM not... TelephonyManager updated framework.jar not... etc....
Environment: ROM in same folder as !IMEIme.exe... ROM on same drive as IMEIme.exe... ROM on different drive... etc. (same for framework if updating framework instead)
!IMEIme.ini settings: you can put your entire ini file if you'd like.
If you could take notes of EXACTLY what buttons you click on which prompt it would be EXTREMELY helpful...
As I said, this program has taken on functions I initially had not imagined including... the more features added, the more complex testing and tracking bugs becomes... I don't want to include a bunch of messages just for the sake of letting you know where in the code you are... would not be beneficial to you... more buttons to click for no reason, etc.
The more detailed you can be, the quicker I can see what is happening... otherwise I have to try to duplicate what I think you are doing when you get the error.
Everyone should click "Thanks" on bug report posts... they have been instrumental in getting the program where it is so far.
RESERVED...
Adverse effects after running
First off, thanks for a wonderful application! Your app did in fact correctly give my Kindle a IDEI number, but it seems to have adverse effects.
Function attempting: Tried both in place Rom and update device and now attempting to use app with sound
Error Messages: Unfortunately DSP Manager has stopped (repeatably on any app)
End result: No sound and music apps crash. Some apps work but many do not. (I can provide logcat if needed)
Environment: Kindle Fire running cm9 using Hashcodes 3.0 Kernal latest (11) update.

Although I have tried multiple settings and configurations. I am sort of a noob so sorry if this is a silly problem.
Having looked into this... I can tell you there's nothing that the IMEI Generator does that would cause the issues you are seeing. I would recommend flashing a non-IMEI'd ROM for testing... then either do in place IMEI generation or running the IMEI Generator against the same ROM you flash.
For what you are doing... there are 2 files that are being modified, and neither should cause FC issues...
/sysem/build.prop for the manufacture, device, and build fingerprint
/system/framework/framework.jar is being extracted and edited to patch the IMEI in the GetDeviceID() function in android/telephony/TelephonyManager.smali and recompiled.
Clearing cache and dalvik cache may be something to try.
Thanks! Clearing both caches AFTER the install made it work great. I had been clearing all of the memory beforehand but it did not work. My apps now work great!
Motorola Razr GSM (SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF) ICS.
I deodexed framework.jar because application seems to not work on odex files (as stock is), anyway new deodexed framework have not /com/android/internal/telephony/gsm/GSMPhone.smali file?! (or dir!!) infact !IMEIme 2.2.0.2 tell me about this issue (no GSMPhone.smali found). framework patched do not present diffecence between original one. exactly the same. no /android/telephony/TelephonyManager.smali mod applied.
I tryied to patch framework by "update device" + adb usb, with no device connected i choosed my framework.jar in my pc.

Yes... due to another user trying to use the generator on a device with a framework.odex file instead of framework.jar I am looking into the most effective method of handling that situation. As of now... the generator will not work for you to patch imei functionality into the framework on these devices.
i deodexed also framework.jar but no way to patch it, GSMPhone.smali is missing totally even in backsmalied odex too!!!!
I decided to apply the patch manually, but without this file and TelephonyManager.smali not regoular i was thinking about hard mod by motorola?! do you know something about?
Pls man, give me an hand, show me the way, backsmali it you too http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1634550&d=1357865096
I'm looking into the method to implement the imei into this.
do you mean into TelephonyManager.smali? I'm looking on it too. Seems so strange this framework...
Actually... looking through to find the best call to implement the patch into... TelephonyManager was the original method... but there may be better places to patch it.
Code:
invoke-direct {p0}, Landroid/telephony/TelephonyManager;->getSubscriberInfo()Lcom/android/internal/telephony/IPhoneSubInfo;
move-result-object v2
invoke-interface {v2}, Lcom/android/internal/telephony/IPhoneSubInfo;->getDeviceId()Ljava/lang/String;
All does make sense now:
http://grepcode.com/file/repository...nternal/telephony/IPhoneSubInfo.java?av=f#174
BUT, where is com.android.internal.telephony.iphonesubinfo!?!?! seems not present... all "internal" dir is missing here, backsmali fault or my fault?!
hiiii
hi,
any news of this? =)
This is the best software for this!
I'm working on the best solution... I understand the desire for this... but I want to ensure the method I choose is the best overall... and to ensure I can properly detect which method to implement during the operation.
If you could zip your entire /system/framework folder and add your /system/build.prop file it would help me test some things I've been putting together for odexed systems.

fixed... I guess nobody has been using the "Use Previous Fix" option for a while. New version uploaded... thank you for the bug report. The screen shots really helped track it down.

Hi DizzyDen,
I want to add an IMEI to my "SUPERPAD 6", but after the window: "IMEI is..." is displayed, then popup an autoit error window:

Can you help?

Before I start looking into this... note that the IMEI generator does not support de-odexing odexed systems yet... I would suggest using it on the ROM then flashing it to the device and let the device odex it again.

Wifi drains more batt than mobile data?

Hi all,
Is it normal for wifi to drain 1% every 5-10 mins on standby? Where as when I'm on 2g mobile data I get 40-45mins for every 1%. I've investigated this for 6 hours and it consistently shows the same result.
My setup:
Same Apps and setup. Wifi Cisco E3000 and 20 feet away from my room.
I also placed my phone 6feet away and still get the same batt drain.
I get a 120-190mah as per batterymonitor app on wifi and only 20-30mah on 2g
Thouhts?
My battery consumption on a 2.3.4 XXKG3 rooted S2, without Samsung crap:

Check your running services, you will know rightaway what is killing your battery.
Yes, that is possible. It all depends on your situation. For some people mobile data drains more battery then wifi. And for some wifi drains more then mobile data.
Nothing to worry about.

How the heck can your battery last that long? I barely touched my phone and its down to 50 in hours. Does it matter if I'm on KH3? I live in Nz but imported my phone I think from Taiwan or hk. Will I be able to use KG3?
WiFi drains battery if it is continually searching for a signal when non is present i find .
jje
I prefer to use wifi when possible just because the battery consumption is less than 3G.. i remember one time I forgot the phone at night with wifi turned on and connected, after 7-8 hours i had lost only 2%
I leave wifi and data both turned on, all the time. That way it just uses whatever's available and I don't have to worry about it. With very minimal use (only a few calls and a handful of SMS) I can get 4 days out of my phone. I have a tablet and am usually in front of a PC, so the phone rarely gets used as anything more than a phone!
Anyway, wifi is not your issue. Have you looked into freezing the wifi sharing app? (You don't have to actually be sharing wifi for this to be a relevant thing to do!)

this is correct, if you have a good Wi-Fi signal the battery drain should be les than 3G but if not then it's gonna be worse.
thanks for the rep guys. I notice that my wifi scans continuously eventhough its using my home network. It's like scanning every 20 secs or so. Ss that normal?
With regards to Apps, and I've frozen everything I can think of that might cause a drain like beautiful widget, setting all my snyc to manual except my google account. I don't receive too much push email. I've frozen the usual culprits like wifi sharing/manager, all samsung Apps, disable fast dormancy, disable auto backup by google.
3 hours ago I frozen juicedefender and when I checked batt still drained 1% 5-15mins.!!! I'm now trying viber frozen.
I'm running out of Apps to freeze!
Is it possible that my phone drains more batt by using wifi N? Btw, as my first post says I already tried to put my phone closer to my router and I still get the same drain. Damn!!!
---------- Post added at 11:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:35 PM ----------
Does having kh3 have anything to do with it? If I change modems will I benefit from it? Could it be rom related - I remember when I first rooted I was on lp and I think the batt was better. I'm now on cog1. 5.1. But I'd imagine it's more of the kernel
Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm getting 60-80% Android OS

Personally, I kept it short and simple. I flashed the XXKG3 generic ROM that is compatible with my Bell distributor then I installed CF-Root and started to uninstall the apps, not "freezing" them (no idea why is called freeze, as the command is "# pm disable PACKAGE").
I use Wifi N with a Cisco E4200 DD-WRT (phone at 20") as well Beautiful Widgets and I never disabled any of the system services you mentioned in your post, you should NOT play with them. You are trying blindly to see if you improve your battery when in fact you are hurting it by killing processes that are needed by system apps (there is your drain). And Juice Defender saves you a bit of battery than use it on its app... not a big advantage. Just start from fresh with a stock ROM and clean your way up, the right way... don't just disable/uninstall what you "think" it might help. And stop installing "optimization" apps, how do you know they actually help if you do not monitor them? Get your system cleaned first, then start installing one app at the time while checking the stats available in your OS, not some fancy app. DocRambone posted a very good list, related to safe applications to be removed. Did you looked at that list? Personally, I uninstalled only half of them.

Compare it with yours and see what is running extra. Here are the visual running services and my battery after 29hrs (just for reference, the proper way is to look into a terminal):
I will do what you said bro and start from scratch! Never thought I'm actually causing more drain by disabling some Apps! One more question bro. Which Apps did you remove from the list?
Thanks again!
Certain routers are known to drain battery life on our SGS2s. I'm fairly certain some D-Link routers are known offenders in this regard. I can't be certain about you're router, but if you have access to different wifi connections, you should do a little testing.
Fiddling about in your router settings and upgrading your router firmware may help.
I'd link the threads where I came across the info, but I can't seem to find them atm.

DocRambone's list is very helpful. Technically, you can remove all that list and it won't cause any issues to your phone. However, I wanted to keep some of the apps like the NDLA, Analog Clock (for alarms), Memo, etc. Just go with your usage and uninstall what you think you will never use. Is always easier to remove it later, instead of putting it back. I don't remember exactly which apps I uninstalled (not disabled), I did it the hard way through terminal.
Many people recommended Titanium but I feel much more comfortable to see what is going on. SystemApp Remover is very good alternative to Terminal, IMO.
Here it is a list of the package manager commands:

For some reason I couldn't upload screen capture photos of my usage our lack thereof but basically with minimal apps installed I still get a drain from 100 to 76% in 6 hours over wifi-with 2 signal bars. Android os 91%, display 8%, cell standby 5%, idle 3%.
Checked running apps and saw fotaclient, fb, drm, Settings, maps, viber, setcpu, go launcher, syncimds, google services, voice command. I'm assuming this are normal background apps. I've got a strong feeling that my router doesn't like my phone. I will try to keep my pyotr idle but this time on data connection

Problem solved! It was indeed my e3000 that's causing the excessive drain! I just separated my 2.4 and 5ghz signal and voila! After 8 hours out only drained 8%! Woohoo!

Some users had reported wifi drain for KH3 radio. When i was on stock 2.3.3, freezing wifi sharing, wifi sharing manager and switching to KG5 modem did the trick. KH3 also caused higher battery temp when compared to Kg5...

Just to add, I see you are on 2Degrees, I get higher drain on my 2Degrees than my Vodafone...whilst I suspect that 2Degrees have weak reception in my area, and usually runs on 2G, I presume the phone is still searching for 3G network...hence uses more power. Just out of curiousity did you buy your SGS2 from Vodafone or Telecom? Chur.

I confirm that XXKH3 drains faster the battery compared to XXKG3, but look at the GPS gains... whoaaa, pinpoint location in less than 3 seconds with a 5meters accuracy. Really happy to finally use my GPS properly, it is worth the increased battery drain. From my tests, the new firmware decreased the battery life by about 4 hours... I can live with that, in exchange of a great GPS.
Yeah GPS locking was brilliant in KH3... But i use wifi and data connection more, than GPS. KH3 drained more battery on standby also. May be it's causing more wakelocks...

[Q] Media > DownloadService always running

hi guys, I hope you can help.. I really googled a lot about this, and also made many tests on my phone and waste a lot of time, but couldn't find a solution yet.. also this seems to be affecting many other people, so I don't understand how is possible nobody found a fix for that until now..
(I'm posting in general section because this seems to affect any kind of phones running cm10.1 + gapps)
the problem is that if I go to manage apps > running apps, I see Media process (DownloadService) always running! that could drain my battery and/or download data, in any case I don't see a point in having it always running, so I would like to get rid of it!
what I discovered so far is that the process is related to both gapps and Downloadprovider.apk package included in any CM10.1 build, in fact:
1. the process starts appearing only after installing the gapps (I use a very minimal 4.2 gapps package, about 10mb only)
2. if I delete Downloadprovider.apk package from /System/App, the process doesn't appear anymore
The problem is that if I delete the Downloadprovider.apk package then I start getting gapps related FC's and phone becomes unstable (and very probably will not be possible to download anymore things from the browser and/or play store)!
So what could I do to safely get rid of that process? Maybe disable or freeze some other apps/processes? But I wouldn't know what to disable exactly..
guys please help me I am really getting crazy with that! also that could help many other people :good:
thanks a lot in advance
EDIT: maybe it was related to Maps since I installed maps 7.x I don't see that process anymore!

Maybe you have some program/app installed which uses the download manager? Some app trying to download an update outside of the regular mechanism? I don't see DownloadService running on my phone unless I instructed it to download something. Do you notice anything downloadmanager/media related in logcat? If in doubt, attach the phone to a PC, run the following commands and attach the resulting file ('attach_me.txt') here:
Code:
adb shell 'ps; echo -----------;logcat -v time -b main -b system -b events -d;echo -----------;dumpsys;' > attach_me.txt
Use the full path to adb if you need to.
This shows the currently running processes (ps), the contents of the main, system and event logs (logcat) and a snapshot of the current state of your phone (dumpsys). If there is anything there you don't want to show to the whole world edit the resulting file before attaching it here.
thanks a lot for the reply my friend
tonight at home I think I will be able to run the adb command you suggested me (in my home computer I have sdk installed)
so far I checked logcat in terminal ("logcat |grep edia" and "logcat |grep ownload") and this is what I got:
$ su
# logcat |grep edia

I'm attaching also screenshots of the process I'm talking about
EDIT: I reinstalled everyting from scratch as a new build by quarx came out.. it seems that installing only cm build + minimal gapps, that process doesn't show up. Later after I installed back all my apps (via app2zip flashable zip) the process showed up again.. so probably you are right and there is a certain app using that process.. but how can I understand which one has relation with that service? maybe YouTube as i see it mentioned in logcat?
delete
i could generate the logs you asked without using the pc but using the phone terminal and multiple commands.. i'm uploading them to my dropbox links are below thanks in advance..

YAFU what happened to you?
it seems to me after I installed latest maps 7.x the media > download process is not appearing anymore in running processes.. maybe it was related to sh*tty maps??? :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Cloud save write and read issues

Hi,
I am new to Android development, and I am trying to write to user cloud file using AppStateClient, following instructions in developer google website . I am not using drive because I wanted to start with something simple.
Pardon me if this is not the right forum.
When I write random file of size 86648 bytes using updateState for key :0 , and try to read that file again using loadState, I get onStateConflict() error. when I resolve that error with local data again and the server version number, and try to read that file again, it always results in 0(RESULT_CANCEL) in onStateLoaded(). The size that is returned in onStateLoaded is correct (86648).
My questions are, from the doc and other resources online, it shouldnt conflict during first file write for the user, but it does here.
Also subsequent reads results in result_cancel though there was no manual cancellation. Network connection is stable, no interruptions there.
Anyone knows why it is doing so in both the cases?
I searched online but couldnt find any proper solution. May be I missed something.

What are MIUIOP?

If anyone knows descriptions to miuiop please share, I'm curious what they do.
What App Ops does is allow a user to revoke an individual permission for an app. When the app then starts and tries to make an Android system call to access something that the user has now forbidden then Android will return an error and won’t grant access to that data or functionality.
As you can see there are several numbers starting with 100xx. These are the app IDs (UID = user IDs) the system is dealing with. Every app has a corresponding UID which is needed for file permission rights. Example: If only a certain app (UID 10666) has the permission to open a certain folder, the folder will be restricted to u0_a666 (=user 0, that's you, + app UID 10666)
Usually the first UID slots 10001, 10002, ... are system apps since they get started first upon an initial boot of your device. I assume that MIUIOP belongs to the MIUI optimization, but not sure about that. But you can figure it out with the help of the UIDs:
Apk Analyzer - Apps on Google Play
Detailed reports of the applications on your device. 📱
play.google.com
Selecting an app shows you its UID. Unfortunately it doesn't show you the UID in the app's list directly.
So the uid number could be different across different miui versions… unlike standard appops which are the same regardless of device?
Posting a list of the apps just because:
10008 com.miui.core.internal.editor.services
10017 - com.miui.systemui.overlay.devices.android
10020 - com.android.theme.font.notoserifsource (Noto Serif / Source Sans Pro)
10026 - com.android.internal.systemui.onehanded.gestural (One Handed Mode)
10033 - com.android.overlay.gmstelephony
10036 - com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay
10037 - com.miui.systemui.carriers.overlay
The app UIDs are assigned ongoing by your system on first boot (for system apps) or after installation (for user apps). Example: The first app you install on your device gets the UID 10201 then the second one gets 10202 and so on. It doesn't depend on your MIUI version or sth like this.
