I've had my tf201 sitting away barely touched for the last couple years, and I decided that I wanted to figure out something that I can do with it.
I decided to make it a glorified wall clock that uses widgets to provide time, weather, headlines, and whatever else I can find that looks good.
I unlocked the bootloader, installed Katkiss 5.1.1 v30 ROM, installed Aptoide (since Play Store doesn't seem to want to work) and got it in a frame that looks all pretty and have it currently hanging it on my wall.
The widgets that I'm using are okay, but I'm sure there are better ones out there that I could be using, but now that the tablet is framed and hanging on the wall, it's a pain to manually change everything, so I was curious if there is an easy way to remote into it to make changes to widgets.
I found AirDroid, but it crashes on open on the transformer, and one I found called ODroid VNC, but I couldn't get the server to start either.
Has anyone been able to find a VNC server, or other remote desktop solution that works on this setup?
Any help would be appreciated.
Update:
I tried TeamViewer, but I wasn't able to get remote working.
I finally got remote working using Alpha VNC, but it's really unstable and the system locked up.
I'm starting to think that it may just be too resource intensive.
Still curious if anyone else may have any suggestions.

Has anyone found a way to get Sirius/XM working on an Android Tablet? I have an Archos 70 and I downloaded the Sirius/XM app from their website and it does not work on the tablet. It just signs in forever until you cancel it or the device goes to sleep. I tried the app from the Canadian site too because I read it was a differnt version but it does the same thing.
Not sure why it would work on a droid phone but not a droid tablet running the same OS but I was hoping someone figured out an alternate way to do this or a fixed app for the tablet. This is about the only thing I haven't been able to do with this tablet. Any info is appreciated.
Same issue
I have been wondering the same thing..the app looks great, I don't see why it won't work, no error or anything just never comes up and takes you back to the login screen. The only thing I could come up with is the screen size, during the login its also supposed to be downloading the channel art, etc, maybe its an incompatibility with the screen layout but it seems like it would be a good place for an error message of some kind.
I hate to say it, but I believe this is a measure that Sirius implemented to make sure that this app is only being used by "authorized" devices. The "checking for updates" screen that I and everyone else seems to be getting stuck on is likely their way of making this app a "protected app."
I just hope that there are enough fans of both Sirius and the Android tablets that someone will make a hack or a work-around to get this app working. It works great on my Incredible, but I would LOVE to have it working on my A70.
Just installed the Sirius XM app on my Vizio Tablet with the same results.
What is crazy is that : siriusxm.com / player loads fine with Flash.
But there's no way for me to enter my login and password into the Flash text boxes. They don't seems to be recognized by Android OS as text entry areas.
I'm running 10.3 of the Adobe Flash plugin on my Vizio Tablet.
I realize this is an old thread but I figured a way to make it work. I simply installled the app on my rooted phone. Then I copied the com.siriusxm.apk to a sd card. Put the sd card in my tablet and copied it to the local folder. Tapped on it to install it and shazam.
Screencap of it working?

Okay, so first I have to have a rooted phone? I have a G1 I am not using, could I use that?
Where do I find the com.siriusxm.apk? I have Linda Manager on the G1, do I find it in the application's folder?
Just tap to install the mentioned file and it should install? Then fire up the Sirius/XM app, log-in and it will work?
Thanks, I'm in the market for a Archos 43 now that the price has dropped. This "trick" might work on the Samsung Galaxy Players that just came out as well.
Im wondering if you put the opened version you took off your rooted phone here would we be able to use it?
would be a great help. My problem is that my account is in the states but im living in canada.
Have you tried the newer SIRIUSXM 2.0 app. They use it with their new LYNX radio which is android based.
no I haven't. They won't even let me download it here in Canada even tho my account is based in the states.

FINALLY !!!!!!
I finally have a working copy of this app on my Xoom. It is in the play store under SiriusXM Internet Radio. It says May 3rd, 2012, version 2.0.0.62. I upgraded from an older non working version today just for the hell of it and to my surprise it logged in and I was listening for a good hour or 2 without interruption. My Xoom will definitely get more use now.
Hello,
I picked this up at Staples this afternoon but having some problems.
Turned on bluetooth and found the keyboard right away. Tried to pair with the device asked for a PIN which the manual lists as 0000, paired up fine.
However in the status it says paired but not connected.
Anyway have one of these and gotten it to work? From searching it appears to work with Nook Color, I'd be surprised if it doesn't work with ours.
Edit: I am running completely stock at the moment. I had clockwork and vegan but restored to whatever the current rom VS has out, 3588 I think?
Edit2: Could someone who has the .apk for Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect please forward it to me? It doesn't show up in the market and the sites that list it won't let me download because my "device is not compatible", which is really annoying.
Edit3: It works!
Thanks,
Neudle
If the Apple bluetooth keyboard works on our gTabs I would be surprised if you can't get the Xoom keyboard to work with it.
Here's the thread on the Apple one that says how they got that one working.

This is all highly dependent on the ROM he is running. Some ROMs will work out of the box, some won't, and some will with coaxing.
im running the Vegan 5.1.1 rom and im having the same issues.
works FLAWLESSLY OOTB on my motoX with GB, but on vegan its a battle. one of the biggest issues I have with the Gtab atm is a lack of a fully functional rom. Vegan is about 90%, TNT is about 90% but crippled in some ways with its reliance on the stock rom, cyanogen is about 85%. but compared to even the half baked droid X roms out, its kinda pissin me off, ive contemplated going Xoom more than a few times this week. if only it had a USB port!
Looking for Easyconnect .apk
If someone has the .apk for easyconnect could you please forward it to me?
I finally had to install the enhancement pack to get the market but the app still doesn't show up even after trying to do the market fix.
I've found download links on other sites but unable to grab the file.
It's really annoying when sites won't let you download an app because "device is not compatible". A warning about potential non-compatibility is fine but I wish they wouldn't babysit me and let me decide if I want to try an app.
I really like this keyboard and I'd like to try to get it working if at all possible. The only potential solution I've found is trying the Easyconnect app.
Thanks,

ALso looking for that pesky and elusive Easyconnect APK file
Howdy all. New to the dev forum due to my recently recieved and rooted G tablet. Absolutely loving it, but would love to get my bluetooth keyboard working. Seems like the next attempt to get ig to pair AND connect should be with the bluetooth keyboard easyconnect app, which the market will not give me access to. Any chance I could get a copy of the file? Or maybe there is a way for me to download the file onto another device, eg my laptop or my girlfriends droid x, and then send that file over to my tablet? I have trued to get it off the droid x but cantt seem to find where the downloaded app is.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Eliot

You have to have root on your Droid X and then use RootExplorer and look in the data/app directory. If you don't have root on your Droid X then get Z4Root and use it to root it.
Xoom Bluetooth Keyboard Working
Big thanks to Stingray_ for forwarding me the easy connect .apk!
As a newb it took me a minute to figure out what I was supposed to do with Easyconnect but as soon as I rebooted it connected and I've had no issues with disconnections so far.
Great little keyboard with specific keys for navigation, home key-search-back key.
Thanks again Stingray_.
Neudle
Still some minor issues
Didn't have a lot of time to mess with it when I originally replied.
The Home key works but that's it. I haven't been disconnected even after about an hour of sitting off and on, so basic functionality seems solid but that's it.
The 'function' keys appear to be preassigned for things like mail, web, and other stand phone/tablet processes but they are not working right now.
I still like this keyboard but the preassigned functions would be nice when I have it sitting at home in a stand.

has anyone worked a custom rom that will accept a mouse and keyboard with this tablet? I'd love to hook my monitor up to it and get it working to just create a server instead of having a full PC laying around. I know some mice work here, but only single click. any accepting a dual click scenario through a remote desktop type login?
Hi,
So I just recently got the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I am familiar with Android and I know what I'm doing (or so I think lol) but some things just aren't working and I don't know if it's me or software limitation. Regardless I'm hoping someone can shedd some light on these...
1. The market is lacking a LOT of applications that are available on phones. Is that right? I thought it would just scale for the most part....I can't even find the official Facebook app on the market. Am I looking in the wrong place or something? Hulu? Netflix??
1a. Some applications that I sideload (mainly widgets) like typoclock or something of that sort....install, but when I go to add the widget it is not there, as if never installed. Even when I try to reinstall it, it says that it will replace the old one so i know for a fact that it installs, but the widgets aren't available, and they arent listed in the installed apps drawer either.
2. It seems kind of sluggish...and I really haven't installed much, even from a cold boot...it's kinda laggy, not as quick as I have seen on some review videos. Quadrant scores around 1400-1500. I Rooted it, installed the latest SunBurst ROM and overclocked to 1.4Ghz and it's still laggy often despite nearing 3000 on quadrant now.
3. So I couldn't get any Netflix apk to work on it stock, so once I rooted, installed Sunburst ROM it came installed with a Netflix app, but I don't think it's official since the icon is orange and has a little android on it. Needless to say THAT app doesn't work and CAN'T be installed (I figure it's cooked onto the ROM) regardless I found a Netflix apk that install and replaces it, and works...but after one day it reverts back to the old netflix and doesn't work. So pretty much everytime I want to use Netflix I have to reinstall and overwrite with the new Netflix apk I found...it's annoying. (and the search function doesn't work on that Netflix either)
I know it's a lot to rant about and a lot of issues, and I love the tab and honeycomb, but I can't believe these issues still persist. I hope someone can help me with one/all of these and I will be forever grateful.
Thanks, hope someone can help...
1a. Try a restart after you install a widget. It seems that if the widget is not made for HC, it doesn't appear before you restart.
i tried rebooting but that didn't help any unfortunately...
There's a netflix 1.3 APK somewhere that sideloads perfectly. I haven't tried it with Touchwiz yet - I haven't even touched Touchwiz.
Try stock ROM first. Your ROM might have broken something. I know Bonsai completely broke USB storage support as an example, and Starburst claims to be the "most complete and fastest Touchwiz experience" which means it's going to have missing and broken things. Any ROM dev making claims like that is compensating for something. The "hacked-icon" Netflix app is an obvious sign they went a LITTLE too far.
Netflix sideload works perfectly on my Tab. Unrooted. TouchWiz. Stock.
i tried netflix fix on starburst rom, it did work but reverted back to fcs after a reboot. i switched to bonsai 3, netflix seems to be working fine even after a reboot.
2. It seems kind of sluggish...
The default launcher is a bit sluggish, it is a honeycomb issue. For me I have seen after a "reboot", the tab does take a couple of minutes to "settle", then it is smooth for me, but if you have lot of widgets on your homescreens it will be sluggish, my experience in any case.
thanks to all you guys for all the replies.
As far as the Netflix, I know I do have the correct apk I think the issue is that it isn't playing nice with the one that is baked into the rom. I guess I will have to install another rom.
However I haven't heard anything on the apps, is that right? There's no Facebook? Anyoneelse having issues with Widgets not appearing?
For Facebook search for an app in the market called 'Friend Me'
Looks great and works great =)
for getting rid of sluggishness try this launcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188701

@js931,I'll give that launcher a try and see how it goes.
I understand and feel for you on your problems. My 3rd (and final) Galaxy Tab is on the way to me from Amazon.com. I also have an Asus Transformer on the way as well and the device that gives me the least amount of problems is the device I plan to keep. I want to like the Tab but I don't have high hopes since I'm about to be on my 3rd device. The 2nd one worked perfectly after Touchwiz for a while - even fixed issues I was having such as the typing lag - but the issues I had with the first one (screen and/or Wifi doesn't respond after bringing the device out of sleep) resurfaced a few days ago. The 2nd Tab also had something loose on the inside as it produces a loud rattling noise whenever it vibrates. While that is easily cured by turning off the vibration, I paid $600 for this device and I expect it to be near-perfect. So any little issue I have with this 3rd Tab means it's going back for a refund and I'll keep the Transformer... assuming it behaves like it should, lol.
At any rate, good luck with your issues. The Tab is a beautiful device but seems to be problematic... at least that's my experience with it.
Never used it before until today, and I must say it has quite a useful interface.
I used to use programs to send texts and stuff from my computer when the phone was charging and this does that. Also drag and drop files from computer wirelessly. I know this isn't new news, but, I never used it until today and haven't really found anything I don't like yet.
Listen to any music on your phone, view your recorded videos, pretty much access the entire phone from within this interface.
Anyone who hasn't checked this out should try it. Pretty cool.
Kies is actually pretty good better than most OEM's stuff. And the web version kiesair is great.
Yeah I like it. Though it seems to have problems reading my contacts/sms messages.
I tried it and hate it!

Check out Airdroid. In the Market.
Haven't tried it before now, its connecting as I write this so I'll see how it goes. Didn't work from Opera so I'm trying it from IE...
I played around with it for 20 minutes. Seems to work ok, a bit slow to load and play videos within the interface so next time I use it I'll try to save the file locally first to see how long that takes.
I need to check out Airdroid.
Music when connecting to Kies Air
I dont know if its just my phone or anybody has experienced this:
Everytime I open Kies Air on my Galaxy Note, a weird samsung tune is playing on the background and can only be stopped if you are already connected with another device or if you press stop.
I hate the music, anybody got an Idea how to make it stop, well other than muting the phone.
Thanks
I liked Airdroid better, although I've found 2 minor problems. One, it doesn't show your videos, only pictures. Have to use its file-view feature to find them. Second, if multiple texts come in at once (a message divided over multiple text msgs), it will only show the first one unless you refresh the page.
So the Nabi Tablet (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12351154) is an underpowered device, but the kids mode interface interests me, as I've got a Gtablet just sitting here, I've downloaded the restore.exe file from the nabitablet website, extracted the apk and installed them on my image of gtabcombover, and all the apk's install fine, however, the kidzmode doesn't launch, it doesn't even give an error. The configuration program seems to work, you can set apps but you can't run the actual interface.
Anyone tested this out? any ideas on how I could test/work this out?
Thanks,

Try changing your build.prop file and attempt to match the one that is in the nabitablet. Might work might not. Its worth a shot.
Did that, no effect on HC, flashed back to Gingerbread, installed the apk's, nothing, edited the prop file, nothing.
Well, not quite nothing, I figured out that on launch, it seems to swap the walpaper, which leads me to believe it's doing "something" but something is also not being triggered, there is a OOBE (out of box experience) apk, but it only installs, it doesn't seem to have a way to launch, dunno if maybe that's the issue.
Shame... I tried the zoodles interface, it's crap. I just want a simple locked down interface for my 3 1/2 year old to use on my gtab.
I too am really interested in the nabi UI. Do you still have the download apk? Looks like the link does not have the nabi anymore.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I wanted to give this a try, but I see that Nabi's website has no Restore.exe or firmware and have gone to OTA upates. Might anyone have this file? I assume the FW was included in there somewhere?
