Miui.eu bootanimation isn't changing - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Tried usual method, i.e, changing the bootanimation.zip in system/media, gave usual rw-r--r-- permission, didn't change a thing.
Then tried with magisk, still the same.
What could be the reason?

The black screen with Poco by Xiaomi that you see while booting the device, is not bootanimation. It's splash screen.

Try re-applying the default theme. I think the theme engine supports bootanimation changes, which means the usual one at /system/media/ is only used as a default template - the active bootanimation would be somewhere on /data if this is the case.

Thank you genius, but I'm saying the "bootanimation" isn't changing, it's showing the same "pocophone/by Xiaomi" even though I changed it, via magisk and via changing zip with permission 644

That probably could be the case. Thank you. Brb
Edit: Nope. Still not working.

Android Gears Bootanimation

I found this over in the Sensation forums, and it works well/ looks good on our phone. I haven't tried the green one. I used Root Explorer to put .zip in /system/ customize/ resource, renamed to Sprint_bootanimation.zip, and changed the permissions to match the original Sprint_bootanimation.zip (renamed to Sprint_bootanimation.zip.bak)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198316
thanks
Thanks for the heads up OP! works great. picked the blue one.
NICE find...Thanks...
wow very nice find bro thanks!
So csn anybody help me? Im trying the blue one, I pushed it to system/customize/resource....renamed it Sprint_bootanimation.zip changed permissions to match the sprint_downanimation.zip....and I only get a black screen when rebooting phone

Maybe try downloading the bootanimation again? Sounds like you're doing everything else right...... I have seen that some roms have the bootanimation in /data/local.
Added the blue one, looks nice, just need to add a sound to it, lol
Thanks given!
There's a zip file on the 3rd page of that thread. Is that okay to flash through recovery?

I wouldn't just because it was made for another phone. If you decide to try it, make a nandroid backup first!
I'm just having trouble covering the basics. I try renaming the original animation to .bak, but I'm getting denied. I can't swap files through Astro or ES Explorer.

It's just a boot animation, doesn't matter if it was made for the G1.

I got time to loose, Ill try the green android one and report back once done...
Hmmm, Installed without issues, But made no change on my evo. Still has the ViperRom boot anim.
Yeah, I flashed the blue one through recovery with no problem, but no changes were made.
I do like the animation and hope to get it on my phone.
You have to mount the system as R/W to make changes. Also, not all roms have the bootanimation in the same place and/ or named the same thing (i.e. a Sensation bootanimation flashed through recovery isn't going to replace one named Sprint_bootanimation.zip).
Alright,
So after I remount, I can pull the original zip from /system/customize/resource
The new animation is on the sdcard. What's the proper syntax to push?
adb push / sdcard/Sprint_bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource?
I got it, nevermind...
I just switched out the files from my PC once I pulled the original file.
It works now.

[Q] AT&T Stock Rooted (w\ CWM) - Any way to replace AT&T's boot animation?

Any way to replace the ATT boot animation on stock rooted without going to a ROM like MIUI or CM7?
Thanks!
I used Entropy's Daily Driver Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289460
Once the kernel is in place, you can drop a replacement boot animation (bootanimation.zip) in /system/media. Works like a charm.

I don't think so. I think it's straight stock, with it's only addition being cwm recovery. But pop a bootanimation.zip into system/media and see what happens. The worst result would be --- nothing.

So it didn't work.
So if I get entropy's daily, will I have to setup my icons and stuff all over, or will it affect my existing codeworx CWM or stock rooted ROM?
It's just a kernel. All of your themes and data and apps will not be affected.

Do you have a sample boot animation? When I try to put a bootanimation.zip into the directory it doesn't work.

yeah that's where i put it. now when it boots there's no ATT boot logo but it's just black screen till the apps load.
Sounds like you're using a bootanimation not compatible with our resolution. Look in the Themes&Apps section for a boot animation to make sure it works. I can't upload one right now.

I got it from the serendipidy 8 thread. shouldn't that work?
Well let's debug, have you tried reflashing the latest experimental build of the kernel, and REMOVING the bootanimation.zip? Is the AT&T logo still showing up if there's no custom bootanim?

- Deleted bootanimation.zip (now there is no file named bootanimation.zip as before)
- Reflashed 10202011 DD
- AT&T default boot animation is back
Now throw in a bootanimation.zip in /system/media/ and make sure you change the permissions to rw-r--r--, or chmod 644 if you're using adb. That's important.

Which check boxes on the 9 box quadrant should I use in ROM manager when setting permissions? All 9 are checked. Just getting no boot animation again on boot.

Set those permissions. Still no animation just black. 2000% improvement over ATT, but still wanting to figure out the animation issue, hehe
Maybe use a different bootanimation? look in themes/apps
There is a thread in this forum with Nexus Prime boot animation, the same one that is currently included with UnNamed rom. Also, look at the link in my signature for the android scribble bootanimation. These animations are 800 x 480 so they fit our screen.

Z3 Custom Boot Animation

Has anyone got a custom made or downloaded boot animation for their Z3 working? Because I can't get mines to work at all and then when I placed the original bootanimation.zip back, the original boot animation no longer works either.
I use this one! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.liveboot

That looks pretty cool. But does it work on your Z3, I'm assuming it does because you said you're using it. But I would more like to use my own that I made myself and I just can't get it to work at all. I know how to make boot animations and how to ZIP them up as Store and what the values in the desc.txt mean. I just don't understand why it won't work. And even after putting back the original bootanimation.zip, I no longer have a boot animation at all.
Idk man :|
Have you tried editing an already existing one?

Yeah I actually edited a copy of the original which has the exact same number or images that I replaced in it even saved them all in the exact same image format. But what's weird is that after I realized that the one I made was no good, I placed the original back. But even after doing that I now don't have a boot animation at all.
So no one knows why custom made boot animations won't work with the Z3? I've made my own custom boot animations for both of my previous Android devices, Xperia PLAY and Xperia Z Ultra and I've never had any issues when doing it.

You mean just mount /system in RW? Because that's what I originally did to change it. And it didn't work.
EDIT: Nevermind I figured out what you meant by setting permissions to rw-r--r-- and now my boot animation works, thanks!

Custom BootLogo and bootanimation for E4 (Perry)

I have finally created a boot logo that I am happy with. The placement of the N/A is in such an awkward location that it is very difficult to hide unless using an all white background...which I do not care for. I like a dark background, so this has been bugging me for a long time.
In addition, I have created my first boot animation to accompany the boot logo. It is nothing elaborate and probably will only look good when used in conjunction with the corresponding boot logo. Anyway, use them if you like.
FYI - BootLogos are flashable in TWRP. The bootanimation needs to be renamed simply to "bootanimation", manually installed, and permissions changed to rw-r-r

Yes.
Thanks for these simple, yet elegant boot animations! I have been using the yellow logo LITERALLY since the day you released it, and have just now installed the animation and am loving that as well....and for any interested parties manually installing the animation means navigating to the system/media directory, (at least in the UScellular/Retail versions of this device, your mileage might vary) and renaming the boot animation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak then copying the animation you downloaded from here to the system/media (as well as being sure to have it named bootanimation.zip and running chmod 644 on the file as well )
IS there any preview of the boot animation? also, i downloded the bluelogo.zip file and when i booted my phone the logo was actually pink. Is it just me or is the naming of the files wrong?

[LOGO] [BOOTANIMATION] Pixel 2 Device Boot Animation + Splash Logo

So, if anyone wanted to get rid of Mi's splash screen, ugly fastboot screen and bootanimation here's the black themed replacements for logo and bootanimations.
To flash logo, extract logo_pixel.zip and flash from fastboot using
Code:
fastboot flash logo logo_pixel.img
To use bootanimation, backup and replace /system/media/bootanimation.zip with the provided file from TWRP.
DON'T FORGET TO MOUNT SYSTEM BEFORE REPLACING.

Thank you, I have been wanting to change the boot animation but have never got around to it.
I will definitely use this and I will contribute something back ( see attached file) Hopefully other users can contribute to this thread too, so that we have a wide range of options for boot animations and splash screens.
Regarding the attached file : If you want to keep the boot splash, but get rid of the bootloader unlocked message, the attached file will replace the splash image with the original stock splash.

Thanks

thank you. when I go to / system / media, I already find a bootanimation, before the new bootanimation is transferred to my internal memory, I tried to make copy, bringing the new bootanimation to overwrite the one already present, but it doesn't work, then I tried to flash bootanimation (the one already present in the memory), but failed telling me: zip file corrupt. Thank you. but it is not possible instead of overwriting the default bootanimation, to already improve the present one ??, adding type, color, effect to the Mi logo?

Well I could but white doesn't go well with the notch. The notch area will be black while boot animation is white, so I don't think I'll do it. The thing is it works well in my phone so it's supposed to work on all phones, I don't know and will not know what's wrong with yours.

I did for many times to my Mi8 as follow :
To change bootanimation :
- Install file explorer for root access (for MIUI 11/Android 10, Root Explorer is the best). Tap to "Mount R/W" on Root Explorer
- Find bootanimation.zip file in root/data/system/theme/boots. Backup this file.
- Replace the original bootanimation.zip file with another bootanimation.zip you downloaded before. Don't forget to change permission to -rwxrxrx-
- Reboot
You can also try flash my bootanimation file via TWRP for another choice.
To change bootlogo, I did the simple way :
- Extract the ROM zip file
- Find the logo.img in folder firmware-update and replace it with another logo.img you downloaded before (the name must "logo")
- Archive again the ROM zip
- Flash the ROM zip via TWRP
On PE rom find in :
root/system/system/product/media
