Hi, I need to turn of the duty cycling of the GNSS (GPS) chip on my mate 20 pro. I was under the impression that it should be an option in the developer settings in Android Pie, as it is in other phones, but there is no such option for Mate 20 Pro.
Does anyone know why and better yet how to solve it? I must turn off the duty cycling for my research project. Thanks!
hey do you find the way to turn off?

Huawei P30 Pro EMUI 9.1
Hello did you find a solution to your problem? I am an owner of the Huawei P30 Pro with the latest release of EMUI 9.1. I can’t find how to disable the duty circle on GNSS raw data measurement (there is no option under the android developer settings on my Huawei Device). In some smartphones duty circle can automatically disabled when you call android GNSS raw data API. Does the Huawei supports this feature or we can not disable duty circle on Huawei smartphones at all? Thanking you in advance.

hello I communicated with the engineer of huawei only to know the EMUI doesnt support disabling the duty cycle. Are you trying to use the carrier-phase for RTK or PPP ?
Duty Cycle
Yes I am trying to develop an app using the kernel of the RTKLIB open source library for PPP and RTK purposes. I have already tested this with XIAOMI MI8. I am also interesting in buying the new Xiaomi Mi 9 with Qualcomm 855 in build gps chip. Did you ever test the Xiaomi Mi phones? I also have already test the mate 20 pro for dual frequency carrier phase measurement. In order to implement the L5 frequency on this model, you have to update to EMUI 9.1. But this issue with duty cycle is critical so I can not support this model also with the P30 Pro.

Hello,
I know, it's an old post !
Finally, is there a way to avoid duty cycling on P30 and othe huawai phones ?
Hi,
I'm looking a way to enable AHSA protocol to device that are on official Android 10 with official updates from manufacturer
Last year Google has annouced Android 10 will support Hearing Aids with ASHA Protocol, specification are open, but i think integration to Android 10 phone is not mandatory
I have a Oneplus 5 and recently Android 10 has been released out to this device by OnePlus
Sadly, i can't stream music directly to my hearing aids.
As far i know Pixel 3 and Samsung devices are compatible, i've tested with a Samsung S10e and this is working great.
Google provide a technical specification for ASHA Protocol, i dont know if this for dev or something ? https://source.android.com/devices/bluetooth/asha
So what i've found so far when playing around with my OnePlus 5 :
- I've decompilled the bluetooth apk from my OnePlus 5 phone and there some files related to hearing aids in the bluetooth apk bluetooth.app/sources/com/android/bluetooth/hearingaid
- Found a file text in /System/etc/bluetooth/
in bt_profile.conf at the end of the file
Code:
#Hearing Aid profile and its configurable features
# hearing_aid_support with default value false
[HEARING_AID]
[B]hearing_aid_support = false[/B]
I've rooted my device with Magisk and i've tried to change to "true" and reboot but changes are reverted back maybe because /system is read-only ?
i want to know if someone can dump the file from a pixel 3 or a Samsung S10/S20 device and share here ?
@johnstinks
Only to have mentioned it:
Android's hearing-aid setting is stored in Android's settings.db under System: It's either 0 or 1.
https://android.googlesource.com/pl...e/+/master/core/res/res/values/config.xml#131
Try setting this to true using an overlay?
sorry .., i've no idea how to do, i've never compiled a rom or anthing
my message is a bottle sent to the sea, sharing idea to enable / force the support for hearing aids for phones on Android 10.
I would also be interested in a way to activate this in custom roms. I'm waiting until it's more widely available before I get my next phone
Bumping up this thread. My dad just received his new hearing aid, and initially the audiologist told us direct streaming is only supported on iPhone, but upon closer checking, I found that selected Android phone models are also supported. Sadly, his Huawei P30 Pro is not on the list.
I tried pairing his hearing aids with my sister's Samsung S10 and it worked like a charm, it even has the hearing aid icon beside the bluetooth device. Although the P30 Pro supports Bluetooth 5 and has Android 10, it doesn't recognise the hearing aid.
Hoping that some experts here can share if it's as simple as rooting and enabling the setting, or is there something in the bluetooth APK that needs rework in order for the hearing aid function to work?
Hello,
I need this feature really, too.
Does someone got a way to enable it on a rooted smartphone?
Best regards
bump !
any idea, maybe with magisk module we can enable the feature ?
Best Regards.
Trying to find the solution for my son with his Xiaomi Black Shark 3, anyway so far I didnt find any ASHA solution, so I am going to check Phonak hearing aid which should support BT connection via A2DP and HFP, so it could be temoporary workaround without ASHA support on phone (seems to just on few Samsung and Google models at the moment). Anyway ASHA is final solution of course, all advices would be really appriciated.
On my OnePlus 5 i tried a custom rom called "ArrowOS" this rom does have a experimental flag "settings_bluetooth_hearing_aid" i enabled this flag and i have hearing aids support !
Now i have to found what actually does this flag when i enable it. ( what file is modified)
here some link from the android source code where the flag is found:
if we understand how to enable the feature we can maybe create a magisk module that enable ASHA for any phone on Android 10-11

know how to enable this feature???
I'm adding my name to the list of folks that want to do this as well (I have an Umidigi A9, but it sounds like the same basic issue applies).

Following. Thix is really interesting
As ASHA is mainly enabled on the software side (given your hardware matches the requirements), does this mean that custom ROMs on Android >= 10 supports hearing aids streaming ?
As soon as I received my Widex Moment headset, I have been using a hearing aid since I was a child, I feel very sad living in a world where technology was for everyone, adding walls for the sake of money, back to top, I also use the Redmi Note 9 Pro which uses Android 10 and BLE but doesn't pair, I tried a lot of things. Why should I have to buy a new phone instead of fixing it, 2 years have passed and they have not fix it or update about this. I have spoken with Widex & Xiaomi support, the 1st one told me that will add more mobile devices to his list, the 2nd one seems not to be so interested since he does not reply to my email. Once again I feel so bad, I hope someone will can give a solution to that.
I will try Service and Feedback from my phone also

Below adb command enabled the hearing aid option in my rooted realme x running on Android 11 device but could not stream audio to hearing.
adb shell settings put global settings_bluetooth_hearing_aid true

In the same boat here, with same phone. I am about to get cochlear implant activated.
The problem with P30Pro afaik is that Huawei have disabled unlocking of our phones meaning we will never get custom roms or install 'hacks' which is pretty ****.
One would think after all these years of ASHA protocol spec being available it would be implemented more, but no. Outside Pixel, Samsung and Apple its pretty dead in the water and I don't know why since it appears to be just editing one or two lines of code to activate it.
At this stage we can only petition to Huawei to enable this feature.

hi,
some news for the OnePlus5T and the ASHA ?
Please, if you can help me for my hearing aid.
My phone is Root, (twrp and Magisk )
Here is someone who thinks he has proven that EMUI 12 is actually a lite version of HarmonyOS:
So this guy has taken an app called "oh_info" (which I tried to find but never did), that is supposedly used to check the OpenHarmony version (this is the open source version of HarmonyOS). He says that he managed to transfer this app to Nova 9 (which till now some Android info apps such as Geekbench state that it has Android 11 underneath). Now, according to what he says, if this "oh_info" app shows something on Nova 9, then the phone is running Harmony OS. If it doesn't, then Nova 9 is on Android (10, or 11, or whatever).
So before everything else, he also managed to transfer this app to Nova 8i (which we all know has Android 10). On Nova 8i the "oh_info" app showed nothing, meaning that Nova 8i is not running on HarmonyOS but on Android (10). When running this "oh_info" app on Nova 9 it showed Nova 9's EMUI 12 is based in OpenHarmony 2.1.0
He concludes that EMUI 12 that will be pushed to all Global devices will thus be HarmonyOS. But not the same version that is running on Chinese devices. More likely a lighter version.
Wait really? dang that's good news, still waiting for 2022 to get the update on my Y9 Prime. I'll also gonna check if the output of oh_info is the same as on Nova 9

Ok, I might be wrong in this but isn't the Nova 9 release in China with HarmonyOS? For me, they might just hastily slapped EMUI 12 on Nova 9 without changing the software underneath which is understandable since there's only a slight difference with the experience in HarmonyOS and Android and settings are not stating what android ver the phone is running on but when Nova 8 was released, it had EMUI 12 on Android both on Global and China and just got an update to HarmonyOS. My theory is that devices that will receive EMUI 12 will still have Android just like Nova 8 but I hope it's running HarmonyOS/OpenHarmony

Guys it seems that we have an official confirmation that EMUI 12 on Nova 9 is based on Android 11 (AOSP) and NOT on Harmony OS ! So the UI is inspired by Harmony OS, but the actual OS is Android 11. Someone could think that this probably means that the Global devices that now have Android 10-based EMUI 11.x, and have only gotten one major Android update, will get Android 11-based EMUI 12. I still don't know what will happen with older devices that now still have EMUI 10.x or EMUI 11.x and have already gotten two major Android upgrades (meaning that they were released with Android 8 and have already gotten Android 9 and Android 10).

Actually the inconsistency that you mentioned will still exist with EMUI 12, as it will be with Android 11.
Regarding the OS, for now I prefer Android 11 at least until HarmonyOS is mature enough. Even then, I might be willing to try HarmonyOS (in the fututre) only as long as it will work fine with GMS (on phones such as P30 that were released with them) and Play store apps.

Hey guys, I am author of this video. I am not bullshitting anyone. In the worst scenario I am just wrong, but my intention never was to lie or trick anybody. I just checked it and everything suggested that global emui 12 is based on harmonyos + android 11 code. oh_info app that I had was showing the openharmony version on matepad 11 and nova 9. And it was crashing on my p40 pro with emui 11 and showing no openharmony on the nova 8i with emui 11. I interpreted this as emui 12 has to contain openharmony code so it is basically harmonyos but with cut some features (for no reason). I has been called a liar few times, so I came here to discuss it cause I never wanted to lie to anybody (

Dont know what is your problem. I've never said people to buy it. I just found out that emui 12 contains OpenHarmony code and wanted to share it with you. Chillout
Really now ? "It IS HarmonyOS" is way different than "it CONTAINS some HarmonyOS code"
So to sum this up:
You have found some app somewhere that supposedly when it sees some let's say OpenHarmony code snippets it reports that the OS is OpenHarmony, or HarmonyOS, or whatever, that in turn you call it some kind of "lite version of HarmonyOS". A few days later on the official Huawei forums an employee of the Content Crew / Article Team has posted an article confirming that EMUI 12 for global phones is just a "taste" (design-wise) of Harmony OS but NOT really Harmony OS ! It's just the skin of the UI that looks like Harmony OS. But it's still based on Android 11, as all the respected and well known Tech sites are reporting (e.g. GSMArena, etc) and all Hardware Info apps report (see attached screenshot) on Nova 9.
A few people have told you that you MIGHT be wrong, right ? But you still keep the same misleading title on your video "HARMONYOS COMING GLOBAL? - EMUI 12 is HarmonyOS!" admitting later on the comments of you video that you do it for "clickbait" reasons.
Furthermore a few days later you have uploaded another video with the title: "EMUI 12 BETA - HARMONYOS IS COMING!"
Now, the file / app you found (that is supposedly reporting about OpenHarmony) might be what it is, I don't doubt that. It might be legit (but no one really knows it is, right?), meaning that it might really be able to report that it found OpenHarmony OS code snippets. But does that mean that the OS is HarmonyOS lite ? Obviously no ! So let me ask you something: Who are we supposed to trust? The official Huawei forums' crew, or some guy like you that you cannot even edit your videos' titles to reflect even some doubt on your claim that Nova 9 comes with Harmony OS ?
As I told you on your YouTube channel, you want viewers? You have to respect them and keep your integrity intact. And correct your mistakes when they are noted by your viewers. And if you don't change the titles of your videos to reflect the truth, then no one will respect you and take you seriously. Good luck with your choices.

And if you don't change the titles of your videos to reflect the truth, then no one will respect you and take you seriously. Good luck with your choices.

Actually, maybe I forgot to state in the video that emui 12 contains android code, but it seemed obvious for me cause HarmonyOS also contains. So if something is HarmonyOS then it means it is still based on android anyway.
HarmonyOS is OpenHarmony + AOSP 10/9. Emui 12 seems to also be an OpenHarmony + AOSP 11 (maybe 10 too). For me it is obvious step in introducing the HarmonyOS but in lighter version.
I Say I of course can be wrong, cause I Don't know everything, I Have some proofs and have my own interpreration. It is hard for me to believe different Huawei statement cause their every statement is different and often opposite of the other. One of Huawei workers told me that HarmonyOS coming from next year, then I found out that emui 12 that is coming contains OpenHarmony. For me it is HarmonyOS, but for some reasons Huawei dont Say it clearly, maybe after HarmonyOS 3.0 release, maybe it will be ready enough
