MiCloud sending SMS to +447786209730 - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Looking at my mobile telephone bill today I've seen something strange: an extra cost of 0.40€ for an SMS sent the day I received the phone at the number in the title. I looked for it and apparently it is MiCloud trying to activate some stuff with sim cards etc.
I disconnected my MiAccount and, just because I was pisses off, I also deleted it.
Did anyone else experienced this?
Do you have any permanent solution to prevent this?
I understood that for each reset/big SW update etc we risk that.
Thanks a lot guys
Alberto

I remember at one point being clearly warned that if I proceed one international SMS will be sent. I had an option to decline.

lol , thats why i dont use mi cloud , utter rubbish , words of it , it send info to the chinese goverment or something

[Q] Popup to register phone with a text message? Possible virus?

I receive the following popup: "Register your phone by sending a text message? Normal rates apply."
I'm not really sure what it does though. I've only come across like two sites talking about that popup by searching on Google ["normal rates apply" android Xperia].
Now, from what I gather, it seems to be some default SE update thing, as I doubt a virus would request my permission, but if anyone could confirm this, that'd make me feel a bit more at ease.
EDIT: Also, this popup appeared on my home screen, so I'm not sure which app it even came from, or if it came from the OS. It looks like a simple notification menu with an "Ok" and "Cancel".
Why would you register through text message? Sounds like one of those paid text message subscription services to me..i wouldn't do it if I were you

Yeah, the thing that worries me though is that it just randomly appeared while I was on my home screen. It seems like some app made it pop up, but I'm not sure which one. I did click cancel though.
I hear live wallpapers are pretty prone to trojans.

Hmmm, don't have any yet, other than default ones that come with firmware (if there are any).
I also found a Russian site that has a user with the same problem: http://www.sony-ericsson.ru/forums2/lofiversion/index.php/t58873-2950.html but even after translating using Google, I'm still not sure what it does :/
For now, I've re-flashed and am not installing any additional apps for a while, until I see if something I installed caused the problem.
Good idea...perhaps contact your phone company as well thy could generally give you more info in case it is one of those subscription services I was referring to

I'm hoping it's not that , but good idea. I could probably get them to look at my sent/received texts or maybe any weird charges.
It's not a virus or trojan. It's what it says.
Sony Ericsson wan't you to register your device by sending an SMS.
The SMS will send a registration to Sony Ericsson on this number: 0046737494040
You decline it if you don't want to pay international fees for a text send to a Swedish number.

EMERGENCY !!! How Can I Retrieve a Deleted Number?

i got a htc inspire 4g running absolution 3.7 (based on cm7). someone called me on my phone yesterday and had the number on my call log.. i didnt save it. by accident, i deleted the number from my call log. is there any way to get it back? is it still stored in my phone?
Ask your mobile operator
Ask your mobile operator to tell you the number of caller who called you, they might have that info in their servers. Tell them it is very very very very important to you, otherwise they don't bother to tell you anything. You have to make them believe that it was actually very important to you.
This is a long way out, but it might work.
I don't know any way to retrieve that no.. So wait for some other person on xda who can tell you a solution.
But my solution, use it when nothing works. Because my solution might work.

hi apourvi.. thank you for your reply.. the problem with asking tmobile this is that i'm on pre-paid with them.. i'm no longer a regular customer.. i called them saying that its an emergency and the whole nine.. but they said it was impossible to get me the number since i'm on pre-paid. let me know what you think.. thanks brother.
Search online website of your provider
Go online to your provider, check if they have some 'login' or 'register'.
Go online to your provider and look at your history there. They might provide some info on your mobile records.
And I think there should not be any problem in retrieving a call log for your provider, even if your on Pre-paid.
For e.g. if police have suspect a phone no. (in case of crime cases), they ask the provider for call log info, and they get it, whether its pre paid or post paid.

[tips] how you can make whatsapp 'last seen' unchanged

well.. ever feel someone watching you over whatsapp last seen status and get a text from him/her saying 'hey you, why dont you replies my text.. i can see you now'.. or maybe you just meet this new girl and keep text her on whatsapp but you scared your girlfriend will notice that you are online at that time..or maybe similar situation.. you tell..
actually it is simple to make you whatsapp last seen status unchanged.. whenever you open whatsapp.. whatsapp server (i think) will detect your present and will display your last seen status whenever you friend open his/her chat conversation. so how to make your whatsapp last seen freeze ? to do so.. open whatsapp when there is no connection available on your cellphone. im using data connection. im using data toggle widget on my homescreen (data/wifi toggle, depend on what connection you are)..
1# disable data/wifi connection using toggle widget (notification toggle should do to)
2# open your whatsapp.. read, send, whatever you like to do so.
3# close whatsapp.
4# enable data/wifi connection from your widget/notification toggle.
and you're done.
pro -your whatsapp last seen status will never change until you open whatsapp with data/wifi connection are connected
con - you cant see your friends last seen status, unable to download files.
should be okay if you just open your whatsapp with connected connection few times a day and make your friends knew that you are online that day and keep the rest of the times invisible.. hahaha..
good luck to whoever try to cheat on his girlfriend.
Wouldn't it be easier to use another application specifically for your affair? Not cheating would be the best idea, but I'm just working in your framework. Don't use just Whatsapp, use Whatsapp and a second app specifically for your paramour.
use another home launcher, hide whatapp, then go to data usage, restrict whatapp data usage. When yr wife is ard u, u just use data connection. When yr wife is not ard u, use wifi to check the hiden whatapp whether there is msg anot.

Good tip but poor example..!
You could have said that without sighting the example of cheating your girlfriend.. Could be useful when you don't want people to bug you and replying only to your girlfriend !!

u madde me laugh my freaking ass out!!!
I will use data toggle like that now too as the only way to access whatsapp.. i have big stress because friends expect direct answer every time i log on.. i hate whatapp for this.. so now with this i hope i will have more peace:good:
lol Man you got the point
i was always looking for some kind of solution for whatsapp as some people can't understand that you may get busy with your own life and cant replay to them when ever they chat to you.
but what is the solution for others if you don't respond to them by whatsapp they call you asking why
Lmao @ the point of this topic!
Although I fail to see how you use whatsapp without a data connection?
I also (apart from sending pictures or messaging someone abroad) see the point in using whatsapp, doesn't everyone have unlimited free texts nowadays anyway?

It really works, thanks!
Also, you dont have to kill whatsapp, just hitting home after sending the message works.. then, with whatsapp running in the background, i enabled wifi/data and my message was sent, but last seen remained unchanged.

Found out about that recently when i was looking for a way to not always appear online...
And the example ...well there is some truth in it. I dont wanna know why my girlfriend is on and doesnt write back... neither she should know when and how long i am online... same for my students... who dont have to know i am using whatsapp at night when i got to teach them in the next morning
Yes!
Yes. I used this trick most of the time. It does not necessarily be used to cheat on your girlfriend/boyfriend. I use it whenever i receive a whatsapp message from someone i dont want want to talk to that day so to clear the notification that i keep receiving, i turn off my wifi, open whatsapp and clicked the message. Ta-da! Haha just saying and i also use it so tha t my ex wont see that im online. Haha ^^
What a funny solution!
Though it works! Lolz!
Ps : I'm not using it to cheat my gf....
Haha!
Just using it to convey I'm busy only to some people who keep looking to bug me whenever I get ol....

nope. indian govt is retarded
can the whatsapp status 'last seen' be updated with 'real' connection?
Well, to make it a real life case: my girlfriend was supposed to be on the TGV at 20:37. But that was also the last time she was seen on whatsapp. She has a foreign SIM card so she doesnt roam on her smartphone (I know because i see the specifications). The TGV has free wifi in business class, but for the rest in 2nd class you have to pay to get access. Assuming that she didnt use the smartphone (which is running on Android 2.3 and i know it has some problems with whatsapp concerning wifi connection), could there have been some sort of connection that updated her status?
Thanks,
David

Thats the best use of this trick.
Doesn't work for me I disable Wifi with the Wifi Toggle Widget of Sony and then I open WhatsApp. After that, I write a person a message and then I went back to homescreen and enable my Wifi with the Wifi Toggle Widget of Sony, but the person, which I've written to, can see my last online Status

[Q] Any messenger wants your phone number and steal your contacts?

No idea if I'm in the right section.
I am using an Note 2 for a few month and now I was interested in installing a messenger. I knew before that I would never use whatsapp because it is copying your contacts list and that is something I don't like.
So I was looking around and it seems, virtually every messenger wants to have my phone number or access to my contacts list.
It is really annoying when someone ask me "do you have whatsapp / do you have line messenger" and I all I can reply is "no, I would be forced to give out my phone number and/or send all my contact to some faceless major corporation"
Now you would ask "why did you get an android phone in the first place?", well... because my 3 year old phone felt very slow (1 touch on an icon, wait 1-2 seconds until something happened) and very restricted with audio and video support.
The hardware on this new phone is just perfect, no complaints at all. I also never registered to google play and have no plans in ever doing so.
So why is every messenger so interested in my personal information? I don't want to share this. Is there an alternative that is not so interested in your personal information?
I am on the internet since 2000 and haven't given my phone number to any company since, why should I start now?
I won't.
I think u should have another number for it,for bussines or soc med purpose only

If you don't want to give your phone number to any applications,
then you better say that you don't have a online chat/message service installed
There are apps available online to make a lock in whatsapp so that no one can view it except you.

WhatsApp crypt12, without phonenumber, device, and person

Against better judgement...
The backup of WhatsApp on my wives device was failed/gone/I don't know.
We traded her old phone for a new one, so that device is gone.
This shouldn't be that bad, but... last november her mother suddenly passed away.
They communicated a lot on WhatsApp and that is gone too.
I've got a msgstore.db.crypt12 of the phone of my mother in law.
And you can guess it allready, I don't have a key.
The device was not rooted and is now already in use by another person.
The phonenumber is also gone.
Is there any any way to get some of the information out of the msgstore.db.crypt12?
I read somewhere that the key can be found in the file itself, is it?
I read something about spoofing the phonenumber on another phone to have the crypt12 be read?
Please help.
