As u may know there is "linux on dex" project by samsung . This project allow u to use ubuntu on dex on Note 9 or Tab 4 .
I managed to open dex and run this app bypassing error about root? Cant say if its root error. It says to update software but even when I "update" by rewriting update version in build prop to newest note 9 update, It still says same. Even after modding sdk to 27 and faking my phone to be oreo 8.1 . I managed to open menu which allow u to choose img file ( ubuntu ) or download 1 from samsung servers . Problem is that app crash after trying to download and it got problems with running img I got on my phone.
Hope some1 got any idea how to run it ?

After i found ur threat i recreated what u did and have the same result right now.. did u use the samsung image or just another ubuntu image?

I use ubuntu modded by samsung and tried kubuntu ( iso file ) myself . Everything bug app . I decompiled app and found some files which are trying to check if ur email is in beta tests . Mine is but I cant get it working
I am stuck . I'll 'ping" this post up just to show it to more people . If any1 got any idea how to run it , it would be nice

It's not that simple as it sound from me . Its longer story. I fought i got it but DeX started to crashing all the time

I just joined XDA but have been a longtime observer. I own an unlocked Samsung Note 8 (North American Snapdragon version) and would be very interested in getting Linux working on my Note 8 and Dex. It's the only reason I kept my Note 8 and Dex and signed up for the initial "Linux on Galaxy" beta. I do not want to buy a Note 9 just to get this stuff working. Please PM me with instructions OR please post instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, no disrespect but you claimed to have figured it out. Why not share your instructions or at least where the process is failing so that perhaps other can jump in and help out?
If what you claim is true, this is pretty upsetting news that owners of a previous gen device have to wait a full year just to get an update (Android 9 Pie) and the "privilege" of running Linux when in fact the Note 8 is not much different from the 9 in terms of hardware.

I don't know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of all of the antics and shenanigans from manufacturers (i.e. Samsung, LG, etc) when it comes to updates (slow and intentionally done so) and carrier devices, which lock down certain features and capabilities (i.e. Verizon Pixel phones not being able to have an unlocked bootloader). Android dialer has native SIP dialing capabilities (which for me is important), and what do carriers here in Canada do? They disable those features. Or the FM radio, which is disabled because they want you to use Spotify and go over your cap.
For me, stock Android on Pixel devices purchased straight from Google from now on.

I fought I have it but I wrote in another comment but I didn't. It crash all the time after running DeX. I still trying to make it work . I'll edit my post and wrote whole guide what to do when I'll have it working . Right now I cant write much cuz it just start but crash a lil time after

Cant say. But if u remember when oreo was published and when Samsung published it out , u might guess its gona take them like almost year

When Linux on Dex (initially Linux on Galaxy) was announced over more than 1 year ago, they even posted a couple of youtube videos showing it running on the Galaxy S8.
I bought the DeX docking station and waited and waited and waited and waited....
Now, more that 1 year after, it's only being released for the Note9/Tab S4... WTF??
Frustrated, I've contacted the developers and here is the disappointing reply:

firstly this isn't ebay you dont need huge writing and different coloured font. And this isn't really a device supported in these forums, but firstly was the battery fully charged/plugged in when you tried to update? Does it turn on at all? i.e. get the first splash screen?

Why do you need to attract the reader? if they have opened your thread they will read it...

We got similar questions few days/weeks ago.
The Arnova devices have different hardware than the original Archos Gen8/9 series.
These tablets are neither gen8 nor gen9, they are something special
The firmware and update mechanism is also different.
The best would be to search for Arnova related stuff in this forum (i'm lazy too, but i like searching).
There'd been a lot of related postings already, so you might get some answers/links which put you in the right direction.

As scholbert said, and what I meant was these arnova tablets are neither archos gen 8 or gen 9 so its very unlikely you will find the help you need here, so yes best search xda or more likely try to find another forum that has a section for these tablets

Hello there, I bouth a pptv king 7s and recived it yesterday. I want to install/fastbook TWRP on it so i can pull the original framework from the phone and have a backup. I tried to fastboot the phone with the pptv king 7 TWRP that i found on this forum but it didn't work, i assume its because there is some difference between the 7 and 7s because the 7s has a 3d display.
now my question is. can some of you help me to manage to fastboot the phone so i can pull the original framework from it or does some one else have the original framework? i would like to install TWRP on it later and Xposed Framework.
If i try to install the pptv king 7 framework i will lose all my 3d apps and the 3d wont work and won't be calibrated.
I am willing to try almost everything. And is it possible to install some 3d deep settings like the htc evo 3d (i think?) had.

I have tried to temporary boot twrp with fastboot but it won't work i guess it is something with my drivers on the pc.... i got it unlocked anyway... i guess thats a small step lol...

SP Flash tool didn't recognize my phone... and i was searching for problems and after a while... i tried to turn off the phone, plug it out, press download button in sp flash tool and then plug the phone in... and it worked! i only flashed the recovery so i can install xposed framework!

This is excellent news, i have been searching for so long for this 7s firmware as i wish to convert my king 7 to a 3d version. They have spares on Banggood lcd screens and full housing, so was going to make this a my new project. Was just missing the firmware. So thank you very much
I also had Trouble flashing through sptool, and thought it was a problem with the mtk drivers as im using win 10, so i decided to flash twrp with flashify instead which worked a treat. Then did the normal flashing Su and Rom through twrp. Never used fastboot method, im quite new to flashing these chinese phones so i'm a bit cautious to try methods that im not to sure about.
I have cm13 on my king 7 now, but wish to convert it to the 3d version once my spares are ordered and are with me. But before i do this, do you think there's a possibility this would work? As the phones have physically the same hardware minus the 3d screen and firmware, so i shouldn't see why i couldn't work.

Yes, i think it would work, because its the same components except the 3d screen, the framework have a different driver that tells the phone what to do and when

Thank you for the links you have provided. I managed to install the flyme Rom, but quickly uninstalled again. Rom insn't optimized for the king 7 and there's no support for the three main buttons For Android (Back, home and menu) its a big shame that most chinese phone manufacturers mainly use apple based os's which really makes me annoyed. I heard there's a patch on a Russian forum for the buttons issue. But i think i will just stick with Cm 13 for now.
What is this zip you have posted? Is this another Rom? If so, is it working ok? Curious to know before flashing...
And i have some mtk drivers installed, but they're not working for me so unable to use sptool to flash any official Roms. Just using Twrp atm which i prefer
If you can link me to some that actually work, i would be grateful.

Oh dear, it looks like you have a normal King 7 NOT a 7's, if you had a 7's version, you would have a 3D gallery and other 3D software within the phone. Also it states only KING 7 not KING 7s the build number says PP6000(2D) if it was a 7s with 3D it would say PP6000(3D)
I would contact the supplier and demand a refund or a partial refund, did you buy from Gearbest by any chance?? I was speaking to someone on HUKD forums regarding this exact same issue and he received a partial refund of just £20!
I would keep pushing for more, as they have sold you the wrong product which is very misleading. Check AliExpress.com for spares, they have a 3D replacement screen for sale as well as full spare housing to make the switch to a 3D model (If you wanted)
I have yet to find a tear down tutorial to follow before i try this myself

Install AIDA64 app from playstore...
And open that and go to System, search for Device, Product....
then your problem will be solved
....
That name is known as codename....
It is important if you are flashing custom roms/kernels also....

Dump y3+ full backup ( .mbn type files) in 9008 mode then reflash to Y3?
Any news from how we can install the Yota3+ rom to Yota3 ?

I am still trying to figure a few things out. Can someone please help me or direct me to the proper thread? >> I purchased a Yota Phone 3 from Ali Express. Although this was stated to be an "international version" -- it appears to just be a regular android nougat OS and it has none of the apps that make the Yota platform unique. My understanding is that the Yota 3+ is the latest version -- international -- using android 8 and has the Yota guide and apps. Is this correct? Finally, is it possible to put the newer android 8 version onto the Y3 and also get the special Y3+ apps? Does anyone understand me? And can anyone clarify for me what is going on?

Let's see if I can explain it:
Yota 3 is the next release from Yotaphone from Yotaphon2, but it's for the Chinesse market only ( but it works outside this market too ). Then some Stores create a updated rom with some improvements for the supposedly International version rom. I think it's only some improvement for non chinesse apps.
Time later, the Yota company has made some work more, and they launches to the market a new version with Yota 3+. Supposedly with the same hardware, but it different mobile phone. Then... for the users of Yota3, as me, we want to take the rom from Yota3+ to install to the Yota3. Always it will be a unofficial, for the Yota company, it two different version of the mobile phone.... And not will launch an update to Yota3.

THANKS. Yes, it is very confusing. When I saw online that the phone had google play, and english, I thought that it must be the global version. However, this was a trick. It is the Yota 3 + that is the global version and has android 8. So, what I bought is not very good. It works. And I can use it to read stuff on the back screen. But it does not have the very unique and useful functions of what makes a yotaphone a yotaphone, if you know what I mean.
I am currently downloading the Yota3+ 'ROM', and I will ask my IT friend to help me to 'flash' it to my Y3 (if others on this site say it is safe to do so). I am not very familiar with this process, but I have been following the XDA site for a few years and hope that I can do this (with assistance). I am wondering why the shop where I bought the phone didn't just flash all of the Y3s that they wish to sell globally? Is there something within the Chinese Y3 that prevents Android 8 and Yota apps? Or does it have something to do with the proprietary nature of the software? Really wish there was a clear and common company to step up and deal with this product line.

I have only shared the file from baidu by mediafire, it's not mine.
Anybody knows how we can create the QFil - 9008 file ? before try to use the Qfil from Y3+... I want to save the old one
Hello experts,
I own an android phone (three years old Umidigi C Note 2) running Android 7. I also have working system.img (Android 7) file for this phone too. Is it possible to unpack this system.img, take necessary components (drivers etc.) and then repack under Android 10? Is this project worth spending time on?
