Yeah, I'm surprised that it hasn't received much attention. It reminds me of the Mi Note 3 - that was under-rated too.
Can I ask a question? When you put your Mi 8 Lite into silent mode, does it display the silent icon on the right side of the status bar? If you receive a text message, does the icon appear next to the clock on the left side? I'm just curious, since the notch is smaller than on my Pocophone, and the Pocophone doesn't have space for these icons.

The Mi 8 Lite needs a separate section on XDA in my opinion as the devices are quite different. Different screen size and screen technology, different processors, differences in cameras, etc. They may carry a similar name, but they are completely different devices. It is also quite new, so it will most likely take a while for development to take off, especially when the Mi 8 has been out for a while and is decently priced.

i bought this device on the 15th of this month (coming from my heroic nexus 5)
started the bootloader unlock request on the same day and i have to wait 15 days before unlocking (it feels like forever xD)
saw other people talking about this phone in other places on xda too but still no dedicated device section
i posted a request in the new device request thread, if you guys posted requests there i think it'll help our cause too

Can someone make sure to post the link here once the dedicated section will be created? The Mi 8 Lite is indeed a completely different device compared to the other Mi 8 devices so it makes sense to have a separate section on the forum..

There already are several ROMs based on the code from that leak for the Atrix, now the hope is that someone will be talented or patient enough to produce something for the Photon. We'll see what happens as time passes.
Best hope is that a real actual leak of Photon dev material will happen but, that seems to be more of a dream than anything else at this point. I'm about to sell my Photon this morning if the potential buyer shows up, once it's gone I'm done with Motorola for good.

Something from Samsung I suppose, I would love to get my hands on a Galaxy Note - not too fond of the Note 2, personally, I just have a strong liking for the original one. Unfortunately, even with the Note 2 basically around the corner or even available right now from some carriers, the original Note still commands a very hefty price in the used market. I check craigslist constantly here in Vegas and I see quite a few of them but people are always asking $350+ for 'em and I just can't do that.
So, I'll grab whatever comes along I suppose, something I can afford, that sort of thing - it's always money that dictates what I happen to acquire. Not particular about the Galaxy S3, but the Galaxy S2 (especially the international model) is pretty nice.
And there's always my all-time favorite phone, the superior HTC HD2 which I wouldn't mind owning again if I can get one in great shape for, again, the right price.

Oh geez, one phone I'd been keeping an eye on (hoping it would show up on craigslist) is the Samsung Rugby Smart, a rugged phone that I find very appealing. It's like a rugged version of the Galaxy S "Captivate" model, waterproof, fairly shock proof, etc. Sure enough I just found one here in Vegas on craigslist and I'm hoping the owner responds to the email (and it's not some phishing thing for spam which it could very well be). That I'd like to have but I'm sure I'd have to get it unlocked for use with T-Mobile but, we'll see what happens.

Yes, a developer that has been around for a long, long time. If there is anyone that can make some serious progress, its him.
With the halt of production and carriers stopping to carry does this mean the resale value is up since you just wont be able to buy it anywhere? Will carriers still honor any recalls at any given time does this mean you can keep it for half a year and return it no questions asked since it is heading into a world wide recall ? A buyer basically has nothing to lose.. it is technically the best smartphone out and no screen display and camera is like it meaning people will always want it..
Problem is, why would anyone want to buy a ticking time bomb.
Our current device may work fine now but there's no telling when it will spontaneously combust.
It seems like Samsung is struggling to figure out what exactly is causing the Note 7 to blow up. And now they're lost for words.

There is also a distinct possibility that if they scratch the device completely they could disable all the ones still in use remotely.
They already crippled some of the V1 ones with a 60% battery charge cap and a big annoying warning that pops up every 3 hours who knows what might happen next?
Resale will be complete crap on these devcies...they note 7 has already been marked by one recall...another one? Forget it.
There would be a niche market for die hard sammy fans who likely would pay a premium for a device that your not supposed to have but that would be a very tiny amount of people

an email i received straight from samsung stated that it's actually illegal to re-distribute this phone.. So... No, a huge strikeout.
They referenced to the Canada firearms act or something like that.
I will never go Apple either. Their iOS is far too restrictive. An Android is like carrying a laptop around with you. In fact, I haven't used a Windows laptop or PC for a long time now.
The annoying thing now is, even if I kept the Note 7, I don't expect Samsung to release anymore updates. Hell, if anything, they will cripple it again, with the whole 60% charge nonsense. And at this stage, Nougat is almost definitely out of the question.
Unless Samsung finds a way to integrate the Note 7 features with the S7 Edge, I'd reconsider.

No one will be buying the phone even if you give them for free. Who will want a phone that might explode. I am waiting to see what Telus does right now. Hopefully they will allow us to change to any model. But my bet is they will only let you change to a S7 Edge or S7. If they allow then i might go for iPhone for now. Can't really decide what to get.

Lol personally wasn't feeling the phone when I played with it. Maybe the one iplayed with was bad but it had this annoying rocking motion that was driving me crazy. Press down the home button... The phone will rock. Store user said I just have to touch it... That didn't work. If all iPhone 7 are like that will never buy that phone... That rocking motion was driving me crazy

I think this being the only response in 7 weeks says it all, at least as far as development progress (or lack of).
I don't have a G6 yet, I get it later this morning. I've read most of the threads here and dozens of reviews over the past 2 weeks and Im still not sure what to expect.
Ive also been interested in the V20 but even though it was released over 6 months ago there's still not much development regarding root, custom ROMs etc.. Because of that and other incidental info I've gleaned it seems LG devices are harder to crack. It doesn't help that LG decide not to release particular models in the UK / Europe.
Ive been with my Xperia Z2 for just on 3 years now and for the first two of those the XDA forum was buzzing with development. There's less activity now as people upgrade to newer devices, but there's still more development happening than there is here and the V20 forum.
But I'm looking forward to trying the G6, I think the first few hours will help me decide if I want to to keep it or sell it on and consider either the V20 or Xperia XZ.
No doubt I'll be back posting in this forum pretty soon....
I had my G6 for an hour before swapping for it for a week old as-new V20 c/w LG Quick Cover and £150 cash
As beautiful as the G6 is it just wasn't for me. I didn't like the glass back, purely as I think even wearing a decent case it will be very vulnerable if dropped.
So I've been using the V20 just over a day and so far I'm really happy with my choice.
It's the H990ds Taiwan model, Titan (dark grey) and is an incredibly well built phone.
People are working towards root right now, I am following it on hangouts. Looks like the T-Mobile variant is the only one who will get it for a while, as it is the only one with an unlockable bootloader.

It will come support for custom ROMs and the availability to successfully root for the G6. Same was with the G2 few years ago or the G5 last year.

Camera not up to the mark as said in all the reviews everywhere, specially front, **** lg ui, battery life below average, and worst thing is we can't even root this ****. Despite its relatively poor software support it's very nice handheld. Camera is good enough for a phone, remember it's not a professional camera so don't expect fireworks. The only thing I'm not very satisfied about is slightly rounded screen but I'm used to it already.

Bro camera is good, bur not good according to the cost, it's very overpriced according to the features it's providing. And the varients confusion over that, I wanted to buy h870 as I'm in Europe but h870ds was delivered. So this different region different varients create confusion. Lg is known for best hardware, and this different varients thing is a negative point of lg. They should release same devices for every region.
I now have an M5 8.4 (SHT-W09) Wi-Fi version, with 64 GB of internal storage. These became available just recently in the USA. So far, I'm impressed with this little guy. I've had a few Android devices over the years, and rooted most of them.
For now, I'm reading through the posts here to see what has been done so far. I want a sense of the lay of the land before I decide about rooting and so forth. At this point, I'm not sure if my device can be rooted yet, or if it's worth the trouble. But I probably will, eventually. I also want to see how development, well, develops, before I decide. For now, I'll read more posts here, and get to know my M5.

Yes, it is written in the above message. Huwaei will give you the code until 23 july.
I'm having a problem registering with Huawei. They want a phone number for a verification code, but in their list of countries they don't include the U.S.
Any ideas?

So after months of debate I finally got round to purchasing my Oppo Find X. Sold my Note 9, although a great device, I'm a tech junkie and always looking to try the next. The X was always on my radar so I made my move.
In regards I'm not seeing any development, I'm guessing the bootloader is still unable to be unlocked? I will be getting the Chinese varient with Google apps installed (purchased from Wonda Mobile).
Any tips or reconditions ? I will be glad to hear of them and is Andromeda working? To get rid of the white?
Looking forward to delivery today of my new toy.....

The Chinese Rom isn't great and colorOS as a whole really, my only gripe from the X as boy oh boy is it a beautiful device.
Now had they stuck something similar to Oxygen OS the phone would be complete.
Hopefully something will happen with fastboot, im on my 60 day wait to get in on the deep test, by then I suspect I won't be able to participate though

Oppo find x is the most frustrating phone of 2018, so much potential but such a let down, mainly due to the software restrictions. Notification issues.
Could have been great but missed the basics of Samsung note 9. It actually made me appreciate Samsung phones more!
