Themes aren't supported in your region - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi all!
So when i try to open the "themes" app, i see the paint roller on the orange background for a second and then back on the app drawer it says "Themes aren't supported in your region" (i am in Germany) is there another way to get them? Because the 3 themes that came with the phone are clearly working/supported...
Thanks for reading! Kind regards!

wow, the amount of bloat that got installed on my phone just by changing the region is insane... can not recommend if you like a clean system. on the plus side it was easy to uninstall everything, still annoying.
also when i finally found a theme i liked and that was compatible it just said "cant add account" after clicking "download",
i wont be creating an account just to download a theme...
thanks nevertheless!

Real VGA

This is the new Real VGA release.
With Real VGA you can change the DPI setting and the language of any WM6 base deivce. Install the desired packages and the Real VGA package.
Later on I will release some device specific Add-On to support the programs added by HTC for example.
If you get a warning about missing DLLs report them in the next message in this thread. Please edit this thread instead of posting your own list because otherwise it will be very hard to track.
The DPI packs are available for 96dpi and 128dpi. The new HTC Home plug-in seems to run pretty well in 96dpi
The Language packs are available in the next post. If you need any additional language feel free to request them.
Important! Please note that currently they are designed only for ENGLISH OS versions. The may behave unpredictibly under other OS.
- Version 1.1
I just released a new version. If there are some dlls missing for you desired langauge than it tries to make a copy the dlls in your device for the new language. As a result some programs may show up in English but I think this is much better than not working at all. I will prepare additional packs to support all the device specific applications as well but in the meanwhile you will have them at lease in English
If you have used version 1.0 already then please switch once to English and then back to your desired language.
- 14.9.2007
I have included in both DPI packs a fix to close the gap at the bottom of the phone
And here are the language packs
And here are the language packs
Language Packs
Do I understand the language packs correctly?
It means for example if you have installed an english based ROM and install the german language pack all windows dialogs, keyboard layouts and so on are like in a german ROM?
Thanks.
Can you release Italian language pack?
Great Work Tobias!!!!!!
Great work, looking forward installing it, but... Can you please post pics of all three
dpi's! Thanks!!!!!!

Exactly. After installing the language pack you can switch between the different languages. The packs include also the SIP (input method)

Can you do a Khmer language pack?
Hi Tobias,
Your application works great I just have an issue with a couple of today plugins, in my Axim X50v with WM6 I've installed Today warrior http://personales.ya.com/beemer/todaywarrior1.htm and claunch, both in real vga or qvga looks the same as in real vga because those are vga aware, however when I switch to 128 resolution some elements on Today Warrior and the icons in claunch doesn't show properly, I'm attaching screenshots for the 3 resolutions, thanks in advance for your help

This whole thing is designed only for WM6. Expect problems when using with WM5. I'm also using the German language pack and Excel and the Recent File list work as expected. You should try to get a WM6 update.

Hi all. New to the VGA devices, just got an Advantage and flashed it to WM6. Want to try RealVGA, but not sure if I need to install all 3 of these files, or just one of them....
Can anyone help?

That depends on what you want to use. If you only want to use 128dpi, then you only need RealVGA and the 128dpi cab. Equally, if you want to try the 96 dpi, you need to install that cab.
Still missing some icons...
Spb Pocket Plus is still missing some icons in 128 dpi mode. Otherwise it works great.
Two more small items: I liked the "visual" selection method better, where there was a little thumbnail that showed what that resolution was going to look like-- with a drop-down selection method I have to keep it in my head which resolution does what. Plus, they're not even in order of size in the drop-down.
Finally, how about a program icon for RealVGA? Right now it just has the default blank application icon.
Sorry about the gripes. You've really done a superb job on the whole.

I also liked the previous "visual" selection system. With the new system I don't see a choice to return to the 96 dpi QVGA mode.
I see the phone skin now reaches the bottom of the screen, but the CommMgr screen is still messed up. (I'm now using one of the Kaiser CommMgr cabs, which displays on only 1/4 of the screen, but provides for clear selection of your choices.)
Overall its a great improvement over the previous true VGA utilities. Thanks for all your work Tobias... I'm loving the 128 dpi mode.
Steve
Works great Tobias!
I am amazed at how you satisfied everyone with different dpi settings, and language packs.
One question, how tall are the 'Start' bar at the top of the screen and lower bar in the 96dpi mode? I am searching the registry but can not locate that setting.

[APP+MOD+SKIN] Black Rhodium 3G VGA Dialer

Black Rhodium 3G Dialer for VGA devices
Update: New signed cab to resolve issues with certificate store and thus execution problems
First of all thanks to amarullz for initially porting the Rhodium dialer to VGA - well almost - as it requires the phcanvga.exe for resizing the dialer screens on the fly which sometimes requires killing cprog.exe and phcanvga.exe with restarting it afterwards to get the sizing correct. Nevertheless on his initial work this cab is based.
Basically what I did was the following:
1. Changed all phone and call log graphics to a nice black/dark color.
2. Added German translation files for the dialer.
3. And most important: Fixed the issue that all newer dialers at the moment have when switching to black, namely changing in call screen text for name and number to white. (This was actually the hardest and most time consuming as it required disassembling and understanding phcanhtc.dll. At the end this took me quite a week or so .)
Okay, and now here's the cab for installing (at least on the Touch Pro with Manila 2.1 installed as this was the device I could test it on).
Here's the english language add-on pack for the dialer as requested
For installation you might have to kill the cprog.exe and eventually the phcanvga.exe process(es) beforehand as otherwise the cab installation routine might not be able to overwrite several files. (I'm not sure about this as I did not really test this).
Pictures of it below!
Anyone who likes the work may feel free to donate a little.

As the dialer is not really ported to VGA as mentioned above but resized on-the-fly you might be successful in using it when deleting the phcanvga.lnk from \windows\startup folder and killing the phcanvga.exe process or soft resetting.
Without a running phcanvga.exe the size should be correct for WVGA - I encourage you to try it and give feedback here if it worked.

1. Yes, I know, since I made the cab for the Touch Pro, I included phcanOverbmp with added battery level icons. If you don't like it just delete/overwrite the phcanOverbmp.dll in \windows.
2. Uptop? I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by that (I even don't exactly know what the word means and my dictionary doesn't list it ). Concerning the scroll bars: phcanvga.exe is definitely not running? Well, then it seems as if it does not work for WVGA. If you are familiar with replacing single (locked) files in the \windows folder and making registry entries you could try the following:
- First uninstall the cab and reset to get back to your original dialer.
- Extract the contents of the cab to a folder.
- Then only replace/copy phcanImages.dll and all the *.bmp and *.png files from the extracted cab in/to the \windows folder. (You could start by only replacing phcanImages.dll and the graphics beginning with Dialer_ and Assets_, this should suffice for a test.
- Change the following registry entries under HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE to 0x00ffffff: CallStateRGB,CallerNameRGB, CallerNumberRGB, textForegroundColor.
- Change HKLM\Software\HTC\PHONE\backgroundColor to 0x0.
This could give you the desired black dialer skin. But note that if this works the problem you have with the cab is caused by phcanhtc.dll and thus this solution will not give you white in call screen text as this requires modification of the said DLL.

Get a taskmanager (e.g. fdcsoft taskmanager, which is free and imho very good), look for the two processes and kill them. (phcanvga.exe can also be killed most times by executing it again, though)
Just curious: Did you try installing without killing them and it did not work?

Date in Tray works great

Just found this awesome app to put the date on the notification bar.
It's called Date In Tray
I could not find it on slideme....you haveto get it on the android market and move it over. I don't have the xrigts to attach a file from my computer or I would.
Nice little app.. You have to select the lower right of the screen for the date to pop up. (notifications area is blank without any items listed).

In the Apps settings, you can change the icon color from Black (default) to White. That's why you aren't seeing it in the Notification Area.
Hi,
Glad you guys like our app (BTW: new version was released today and shall be now available from Market). If you got any sugestions or requests or maybe bug reports, feel free to speak here. I'd also warmly welcome people willing to help translate it to additional languages
nice app until it stopped working, stuck on: service disabled you have to upgrade...

[Q] (MIUI) "Themes" app glitch/issue

As you may know that if you go into the "Themes" app in MIUI, go into "Online Theme", then select a theme, and scroll down you can install certain components by checking and unchecking orange check boxes. However on my phone the check marks are faded, they work, but when selected they don't disapear like they should. They just stay there... faded... Refer to the attatched image to see what I'm talking about... So how do I fix this? Do I reflash MIUI? And if I do reflash it, do I first have to return to stock? Grrrr... MIUI is so amazing! Yet at the same time has so many little glitches! +

Oh, that did do the trick! However there is still a glitch. When selecting the faded checkmarks the # in the "Contains # Components" changes even though the theme has not been downloaded yet. That's why I thought something was wrong with the app. Still, thank-you!
I download the full theme of everything, then use the "Edit Theme Settings" to set each part up individually. I preference.

Samsung keyboard does not allows me to switch languages...

Hi,
After a long while with the SGS5, I've decided to go back and try the native Samsung keyboard.
I've installed couple of an additional languages but even after those are selected and I go back to the keyboard - I see "English" written on the space bar but there are no arrows on the left and right of it and swiping over the spacebar does not change to any of the languages even if they are selected in the keyboard settings.
I also went and cleared memory and cache of the "Samsung Keyboard" app. Even though it went back to default settings, selecting an additional language did not turn on the left/right arrows and does not let me switch languages...
I saw that couple users had this problem in the past and the solution was (as a workaround) - try other keyboards. I was wondering if anyone faced this issue and if there is a way to fix that?
Thanks,
Try renaming /system/csc/language.xml
Reboot, choose your preferred language in the settings menu. Then see if the language is available to the keyboard.

There were extensive syntax changes made in 4.4 and it can be challenging to keep track of the old vs new methods. Language.xml would have been for 4.2.2 then. So ignore the advice about language.xml then as the organization has been changed under 4.4.2.
Here are three things you can try.
First try resetting the keyboard language setting. Go the the settings menu
Settings menu > My device > Language and input
and click on the gear icon beside the Samsung keyboard and click reset settings. Now go back and see if you can select the keyboard language you desire.
If not, and it is a single language of interest to you, it will probably suffice on a 900F 4.4.2 ROM to change the default language setting. You can do that by editing /system/csc/customer.xml replacing instances of "en_GB" with the ISO code for your desired language. ISO country codes here. Note that you should use an underscore rather than hyphen and capitalize the country code to the right of the underscore. e.g. en_GB not en-gb.
<DefLanguage>en_GB</DefLanguage>
<DefLanguageNoSIM>en_GB</DefLanguageNoSIM>
If that doesn't work for you or if you want support for multiple languages, then under 4.4.2 then you would likely need to make distributed edits to multiple system apps e.g. settings.apk, systemUI.apk, framework-res.apk. There is a patch thread to do this for Motorola devices here. That won't help you directly but could serve as a template as to what is necessary if you are ambitious.
A more practical approach may be to consider migrating to a custom ROM where the multiple edits to enable multiple language support are already in place e.g. the S5 Phoenix ROM.

Thanks for the detailed suggestion, I did some more digging and found the fix. Apparently, if you are allowing any app to use the "accessibility" features (I'm using Tasker for example), the multi-language option on the Samsung keyboard will not work. Once I turned off the accessibility option for Tasker - the keyboard worked fine. Turned the Accessibility back on and the multi-language gone again.
Luckily, I don't need Tasker to sense any activity related to accessibility so I'm all good but this is probably a long-lasting bug since Galaxy S4 I think; looks like the phone does not like any other app to be able to use these accessibility permissions.
I had the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S7. I read several threads that said go to Settings and Language and Input but nothing more than that. When ya in Language and Input, go to Virtual Keyboard and then add the languages you want there.
A happy Samsung convert
