I rooted my galaxy s3 i9300 yesterday and then installed cwm recovery on it. after that i decided to back up my device via the recovery mode, when back up was done, i got a message like 'root access lost, fix, yes or no', i chose to fix and i'm stuck with the android man screen that says 'downloading ... do not turn off target!!!'. i can still boot to recovery tho. how do i fix this?
Try factory reset but you may have to reflash your firmware with Odin.
Make sure your cwm is the latest version.

Reboot to recovery and try to re-root manually or via ODIN with chainfire cf-root.
I think you need to re-flash root via Odin
i tried to install a new rom with the twrp recovery mod and before starting the process i unistalled twrp, the app from which i got the recovery mod. now when i started the process i factory reset the phone. afterwards when i tried to install the custom rom it said "No file_context" which meant it couldn't it because i unistalled the app. i rebooted my phone but it only boots on the custom recovery mode and at the moment i'm trying the download mode and praying for it to work. does anyone know any other ways to make it work?
Hi
I'm on 5.0.2 rooted with ping pong root and stock recovery, knox still 0x0 that's why I haven't updated to 5.1.1
Just an hour ago phone went off and in the begining I was able to boot normally but it was stuck and reseted itself 2-3 mins after getting into the system....
At that time I was able to get into recovery and download mode normally
I decided to wipe cache partition just to see if it fixes anything so from that time it's stuck on samsung logo
I used odin to reflash stock rom but without better results, only thing changed is that when I get into recovery a dead android with a yellow triangle (not the red one inside android little man, just a yellow one connected to the android little man with a dotted line if this matters at all) appears before the recovery menu
Download mode still says "Current binary: Samsung official" and "System Status: Custom" just like before the odin flash
1) Only solution now is factory reset from inside recovery??
2) Can I get my files from inside somehow before factory reset or recover them just after the factory reset? It's 6 months without a backup now....
Thanks for your time

This is why you always keep a backup.
No backup = i don't care abut my data.
You might find with remaining files that stock firmware over the top doesn't help. Try flashing something newer like 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 . Will lose ping pong with a newer version. But speed and battery life are like 10x better.
I was always keeping a backup every month or two, it's the first time (and the last) I haven't done so for 6 months
I can't go with a newer version because I'm using SmartView app to stream my TV to my phone and it needs stock kernel which can't be used if rooted with a 5.1.1 or newer version

Try this,it uses stock kernel
1. First do a factory reset.
2. If that doesn't help try a newer MM stock ROM.
3. Claim warranty.
4. No warranty? => Custom ROM
Even after factory reset, it is stuck after 1 min of getting into the system
Same thing happens when in recovery menu (I also get dm-verity verification failed), it is stuck after seconds....I don't understand....I even tried reflash stock fw of course....same thing happens....I barely get into the system home screen and then it freezes...only thing that is not stuck is Download mode which works....
If I let it on charger switched off it switches on by itself...getting into home screen and freezes after 1 min....
I also tried nand erase all from odin...results are the same...
What is wrong?
Please anyone help...

Hello Everyone,
Last night my mom was unable to access her Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using her finger print. I took this opportunity to help her although I have never used android phones in my life! I spent 5 hours straight to only find out there is no working solution. ( We cannot wipe data )
Problem:
Samsung Note 4 running on Android 5.1.1, bio-metric locked, USB debugging disabled, forgot backup password, Not rooted, do not have access to Samsung ID or Google ID.
Failed solutions:
Unable to mount filesystem to delete gesture.key or other password files.
CWM with custom recovery failed, i used Odin. (Is it because the USB debugging is disabled?).
Android Data Recovery tool doesn't help, it stuck at the connecting screen and doesn't show data.
Failed to exploit CVE-2015-3860 ( Crash lockscreen UI).
Tried Dr. Ketan's LockScreen_Security_bypassV1.1.zip, am not sure how its exactly done.
We do not mind rooting the device, or copying the data temporarily and hard resetting the phone.
Please help.
Use Odin to install TWRP recovery. CWM sucks and is now outdated. You'll have to immediately boot to recovery after it installs or the stock recovery will write back to that partition and you'll have to redo the steps.
If you get there then you should be able to copy the internal storage to the computer. After that, I'd make a backup in TWRP and copy that too. After all that, then you might be able to use the Aroma file manager. You might have to root if you can't mount system there. If so, you can put the SuperSU zip from Chainfire on the phone and install it then reboot recovery and try again.
Hi All,
My end goal was to get my Samsung Tab Active tablet to work with my PS4 via Remote Play app but during my lengthy rooting process I've managed to do something to fail SaftyNet checks which lm guessing its messing with Remote Play app as just get blank screen on it .
First I flashed SuperSU (CF-Auto-Root) via Odin tripping the e-fuse before relising Magisks existed! Magisks seemed a better choice so went about reflashing back to stock from firmware I got from Sammobile site before installing Magisks manager on the tablet. Once Magisks manager was on I patched and flashed the boot.img.tar file via Odin checked SaftyNet tests which failed relising its probaby due to me just reflashing Stock firmware before removing SuperSU the correct way. :silly:
After running Triangle Away app thinking the Knox counter may play a part I went about reversing what I did via flashing: Stock -> SuperSU -> Uninstalling SuperSU via its App -> Stock -> Full format/wipe via Samsung recovery bootup.
After all that still no SaftyNet pass! Hearing about UPDATE-unSU-signed.zip and thinking at this stage the fails must be something SuperSU left behind I installed TWRP with my devises recovery.img I downloaded due to TWRP not listing my devise, TWRP SM-T365 recovery.img found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/root-samsung-galaxy-tab-4-active-lte-sm-t3681330
Flashed UPDATE-unSU-signed.zip via TWRP and . . . SaftyNet still failing.
So after regaining consciousness from repeatedly banging head against the wall I started writing this post as well as getting an older stock file downloading from Sammobile as I type in hope a previous stock + OTA update will help this issue.
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Knox Warrenty Void: 0x1 (4)
Status if this keeps up: in pieces!
Anyone have thoughts on anything else to try to pass SaftyNet on stock firmware
