basically when using my phone for sat nav, i didnt notice any further precise gps tracking. having looked into it further it seems that the phone isnt even using the second gps frequency!! anyone with newer software than .122? use GPStest app to find out and if it is working you should have multiple satellites with the same ID.
I'm on FW 127 (using Telus in Canada) and see 6 duplicate IDs in the list. H/V accuracy shows 4m. I'm currently sitting in my living room by a window so I guess it could get better.

Using GPSTest it seems Dual-frequency is still not in use. Maybe it is the same issue as the Xiaomi Mi 8 did when it was released.
See also https://medium.com/@sjbarbeau/dual-frequency-gnss-on-android-devices-152b8826e1c
i installed GnssLogger V 2.0.0.1 Release
https://github.com/google/gps-measurement-tools/releases/tag/2.0.0.1
it shows multiple carrier frequencies.
It think its on, but not used?

Huawei, it’s time for you to step up and address this! You trumpeted this feature so boldly in your advertising but . . . where the rubber meets the road, it’s no better than any of the previous generation GPS devices. Dual frequency GNSS was supposed to give us sub-meter accuracy!
We are now up to .187 firmware and still don't have dual frequency GNSS support. What is going on?

I just lodged a complaint with them regarding the false advertising of dual band GPS. Will let you know if/when I get a response.
Clarification by their side must be made, at least they could add an option to toggle it on or off.
We should make sure they aware that we face this problem, and action must be taken
Firmware 153 in the UK - I can confirm it isn't working for me
What (app?, method?) has been used for confirming that isn't working?
Confirmed dual band GPS not working on .153 using GPStest app:

Not sure of his methodology, however based on previous findings I don't doubt it.
Anyone on .187 want to post screenshot of GPStest to confirm?

Not just GPS, they have hyped in few other departments as well. In fact some of the tests show Kirin 980 score lower than QSD 845, let go 855, and also 40MP camera was tested to offer similar image quality as that of 12MP iphone X camera. Their claims must always be taken with a pinch of salt.
Huawei said they "will inform the relevant team", so probably do nothing. No surprises there..

Unfortunately GPStest is currently non completely reliable, so it shouldn't be used at present, maybe a new version will be released that shows correct data.
The real fact is that the second frequencies L5 and E5a are received.
See this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78525229&postcount=12
What is to be assessed is if these second frequencies are actually used internally for positioning, or received but still ignored.
Could it matter as to which country one is in as to whether or not this dual GPS frequency gets implemented or not?
If you root the phone you can enabled it

Pinch of salt? More like Fraud!
Here's one more thing to watch out for....if this matter gets magically 'FIXED'... it might be fixed like the Huawei 'fixed' the GEEK BENCH results for some of their other offerings.
Huawei...do the right thing....make it work as it should. Having the same accuracy/precision as a single band GNSS system just isn't right.

OIS and 13MP camera was not there in note 2 because of sensor unavailability from sony.. they cannot serve sucha high demand right now.. somewhat similar to what bezos is doing with firephone.. but their strategy is different.. to curb high demand and check whether their phone will succeed or not and to curb losses he has his phone priced $650 LOL

The processor is advertised as Snapdragon 800, for some reason, but all the mobile phones we're getting from Flipkart have Snapdragon 801. Here's a screenshot to prove it:

And I see, but there was this video on YouTube that clearly mentioned the same what I've said. I can see the point you're trying to make, but Xiaomi isn't some backyard company now, is it? It's considered the 'Apple of China', how much ever they hate being called that. I'm sure they'll have the money to at least be in talks with physically retail stores and distributors. If not, you could be right. They went for the cheaper and affordable option of going through Flipkart. Either way, it's a win-win for us!
I'm sorry, but I can't comment on any of the products you've bought from eBay, as I haven't used them myself. I'm actually waiting for the original accessories to release, but a screen guard worth 750 should be worth it's price. When it does arrive, upload the pictures and store link on this thread so others can buy it!

It has msm8274ab (same as 8974ab but without lte support) which is sometimes recognized as snapdragon 801! The msm8974ac is snapdragon 801! The only difference between the two is that msm8974ab has clock speed 2.26ghz and emmc 4.5 while the msm8974ac has 2.46ghz and emmc 5.0! The benchmark difference is way too small! my mi3 gets 42k on antutu 5 beta while I have seen that mi4 with 801 gets around 42-43k!

4) Added an FAQ on After-Sales Support, a must read again!

It looks like Samsung has packed a hell of a lot into such a tiny device, it also sports a unique curved display. The Samsung Gear S features full connectivity, being one of the first smart-watches to feature more than just Bluetooth technology. This device packs Bluetooth, Wifi, 3G and GPS, making the smart-watch fully functional without its "parent" device. Lets take a look at what we know so far:

Where is the camera ?
I am disappointed...
I am happy user of the GEAR I with custom ROM, as the full year of use is coming .... and the battery life is getting shorter.. It is the high time to jump into something newer but:
- I like the camera in the watch - soo easy to take pics in the store, quick photos of the notes, etc - WHY Gear III is missing camera ???!
- Tizen again... not so easy to customize... will it be possible to have quick dial with faces of your closest friends as it was possible to do on the GEAR I ? This simple functionality remembers good old PALM..
- only 300 mAh battery - on the watch with so big screen, phone and GPS? will it run more than 30 minutes?
- "custom" BT headset?? what about the regular one - will it run with good old MW600 or SBH50 ??

Is it definitely coming yo the US?

The GSM model is definitely coming to the US with the Note 4, and i haven't heard from Samsung about a CDMA model but I'd be surprised if they released it through at&t but not Verizon. I just reached out to my Samsung contact & will update if i hear back.

Today, I have touched the Gear S.
I can't find tethering function.
It seems to support many languages as well as Gear 2.
Screen is very beautiful.
Response is very fast.
Even turn off the screen and continue to display only the hands of the clock.

In case you haven't heard, the all new successor to our beloved HAM2 is the Mate7! Whether or not Huawei went through 4 different Mate models that we never knew about, I'll never know. I presume (since many people haven't heard of Huawei) they want the HAM7 to look "one step ahead" of the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S6.
Here's the official Huawei page for the Mate7, and some pictures.

I think the biggest updates are the fingerprint sensor and the 1080p resolution. The rest of the specs are somewhat similar to our phone, so hopefully it won't have a huge price bump.
I'm sure a US version will come out eventually. Huawei wanted to come to the US with the HAM2 so it wouldn't make sense to not make this.

They are Huawei in house chip designers....
My Mate 2 MT2-L05 has a Hisilicon Kirin 910 chip in it which runs everything flawlessly, and if you look in the benchmarking thread, it also appears to be considerably faster than the Qualcomm 400 Snapdragon in the MT2-L03 US version, although until the MT2-L03 runs on 4.4.2 a direct comparison is slightly unfair.
The Mate7 will also be available in a 3GB RAM/32GB configuration.
I find it hard to believe Huawei would release a US version of the AM2, vastly improve it, and then not sell a US version of that successor. I would guess that a US version comes out a month or so after the foreign version is widely available.
I have the AM2. Without knowing what the AM7 would look like, my suggestions would've been:
Improve build quality
Make thinner+more compact
Lighter
Enable double tap to wake/faster way to unlock than antiquated side button
Improve performance+screen quality without sacrificing battery life
They've done all of the items on my list. I'll be trading in my Mate 2 for this baby the second a US compatible model becomes available.

Agreed.
Current phones, Ascend Mate 2, LG G3, LG G2, LG Lucid 3. Tablets, Nexus 7, LG GPad. I like the Ascend Mate 2 the best.
Most of the width and weight seems to be the battery. I changed the DPI to 264 and if not for application issues 240 was perfect screen is bright and clear flexible frame and screen I am more than impressed. Adjustments made and the phone is super snappy. I agree about the button placement though. Other than that really taken with this phone.
A model of the Mate7, MT7-L09 is purported to work with TMO/ATT LTE in the US. The price is higher than the AM2, but it's also a better screen, higher build quality and Android 4.4 out of the box. I'm thinking of giving it a shot.

I would rather go with the new nexus if I was to buy anything else for that price range
Not me. I prefer the significantly better battery life, thinner+more compact frame and microSD slot at $550 vs the Nexus 6 64GB at $750 after taxes.
Wish it had been this price when I bought my HAM2
Mate 7 is still too pricy for me... And doesn't have full network support only 1/2 bands supported so many places in the rural area I live in wouldn't have signal as I found out with my previous phone before the mate 2. I love the full network support and better connectivity with this $300 phone. 550 is still too much in my opinion.

Just want to mention that there is no official US version yet, this is an individual seller, so no warranty, no support, even seller reputation need put into consideration. Of course network/band will be another issue.
Hi!
I'm really considering to buy Xiaomi Redmi 3. I think it is a really bang for your buck phone. But I use a lot of GPS, so a good GPS receiver is imperative for me. After being let down with my 2 previous phones, I don't want to make the same mistake again. So, I would like to ask anyone that already has got this phone to post a screenshot of the app GPS Test of both indoors (not apartment buildings) and outdoors satellites reception alongside with the regional location where the test was made. That would be great and help a lot to my decision.
Currently, I'm inclined to buy Moto G 3rd Gen, which has great GPS reception both indoors and outdoors. But if Xiaomi came close to it, I would rather prefer it to the motorola because of the larger battery.
Thanks in advance.
What tests specifically do you want done? I just bought this phone and I also use GPS pretty often so I will be checking it out over the next week myself anyway. More than happy to share my findings.

Hi! thanks for your availability.
Please install the app called GPS Test from The play store. The free version is enough. Then, after installation you only have to run it indoors and outdoors and take a screenshot of each one of those situations and share them here. To take a screenshot, you only have to press volume down and power button at the same time.

GPS of the phone is ok, I don't use it much, only to check a place on Google Maps.

Hey! You were very helpful. If it can fix indoors, for sure that it has, at least, an above average GPS receiver and would preform very well outside. Thanks a lot.
Sorry for the delayed response. Here's a link to 3 screenshots. The first is in my living room that has no windows, the second is in my kitchen which does have windows and the third is outside. I live in Hebei, China. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I appreciate it.
@HCPA So have you bought the redmi 3. I'm thinking to buy redmi 3 pro. Since, their hardwares are almost identical, can you share your GPS experience with us if you bought one.
Hi! No, I did not buy the Redmi 3, I bought the Motorola G 3rd gen instead. Let me tell you why.
Firstly, what attracted me the most in the redmi 3 was both the large battery and the price, around 160 euros, besides of course the, supposedly good enough gps reception.
But few things led me to change my mind. They were,
1. some people reporting having received faulty versions of the phone. As my bad experience in faulty phones in the past I didn't want to go through all of that again. In addition, Xiaomi doesn't have official support in my country, Portugal, so if I had any problems it would be really inconvenient to deal with that situation. On the contrary, Motorola has technical support in Portugal.
2. Despite the price of Moto G 3rd being around 200 euros, I paid 199,90 euros, the gps reception is if not the best in the smartphone market, certainly one of the best, sure-fire thing the best I have ever had. It always locks under 5 seconds, outdoors and indoors, sunny or cloudy weather. Check the following review http://www.notebookcheck.net/Motorola-Moto-G-3rd-Generation-Smartphone-Review.147931.0.html
3. Despite Moto g 3rd having smaller battery I find it it lasts me around 2 days of usage, which is about the same I was used to with my previous phone and it had a smaller screen. I'm not a heavy user though, if so I reckon it would last a complete day. That is also what many reviews point out about the phone that apart from redmi 3 it has the best battery life for this device range. That being said I'm still happy with my decision because after all the trade off is that the Motorola is water resistant while Redmi 3 is not and for me this is a plus since I often run in rainy days, so I don't have to worry about ruin my phone.
In conclusion, the price difference is well worth it. I have got a phone that feels and works like a premium phone. Motorola was always known for having the best cell radios in the market. Besides all of that I have stock android and I'll have plenty updates to come.
By the way, I got the 2 gig Ram version. 1 gig ram is not worth it anymore in 2016.
I hope I was helpful. Feel free to ask any other stuff about this. I'll be glad to help.

Bad Marketing or a Honest mistake?
So I posted this over at the ZTE Z-Community Forums. So far no replies from someone at ZTE or a mod, I do believe this is a US Model.
Based on websites from official ZTE they all have Something quite interesting as battery is not 3250 mAh as advertised by ZTE on all their sites EU, USA and China.
ZTE Original Thread
Something quite interesting below;

Tho it is advertised as a 3250 mAh battery on their site.

Update all sites on ZTE site which sell the device have the 3250 mAh pricing.
As i said back in Z-Community, yeah this is indeed either the A2017G or U (captive keys) , which in the first Tear Down (106 image base omly) is the Chinese one and have the same 3140mAh Battery, which is really bother me right now cuz what else is really not there and they are advertising qith the A7.

They upped the size of the battery after the preproduction models. The first review samples had 3140, and the production models have 3250.

Which is even less than 3140. I take it with a grain of salt.

well Physical Battery is 3140 mAh , apps showing 3100 mAh is 40 mAh different and acceptable, but ZTE advertising 3250 mAh battery capacity, which is 110 mAh different, i'll call that unacceptable on my book
Not this **** again. USA variant is different. Those pics are from early Chinese version but really, does it matter?

These are not from the Chinese variant its clearly not have you seen the video?
Lets not fight guys, get the torches and the forks and we march to ZTE offices for 100mah !!!
Just checked with AIDA64 and it reports a 3100mAh battery... Real battery info, or...?

Just curious, but how do we tell? We didn't really get a good shot of the backside of the device in this repair video.
What really is the difference between 3100 and 3250 in terms of autonomy? I mean, I could change the phone, but it's gonna take days, and well, I'm in love with it, so...
Also, how can we/I be sure that the phone I would receive would have the 3250 battery?
My axon 7, A2017G has 3100 Mha....
to everyone complaining that device check apps such as DevCheck show only 3100mah.
that valua is actually read out from the framework which was defined in an XML file in the overlays.
it does not actually read the _actual_ mah value of the battery.
most OEM define that value to be lower because of the diversity in battery quality.
no battery OEM will ever give you a warrant that the battery will exactly be "3250mah". because they simply cant do that. it will always be 3-5% more or less.
so what _all_ OEM's do they write an lower value in that power-profile overlay for the battery manager.
there is an simple fix for that which requires root.
for those that are not pre-production phones and have a 3250mah (might be even more, we need a proper tear down of a newer model)
unpack framework-res.apk change the value in:
Code:
overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/xml/power_profile.xml
that shows
Code:

3100

to
Code:

3250

and here is the proof for the skeptical users:
https://github.com/Hax-on/android_d.../base/core/res/res/xml/power_profile.xml#L118
Hello celoxocis
What do you mean exactly? That programs like Aida64 or CPU-Z actually read data containted into an xml file, and that they don't probe the hardware?
Just asking, cuz I really really love my Axon, no matter what, and it would really sadden me to send it back and replace it. Knowing that I might get the same battery anyway...
Thanx for your reply
Mine also saying 3100 A2017G from Amazon de.
Also at my S7 Edge Samsung said 3600 and it's 3600 according to AIDA or CPUz or Samsung phone info.
So something wrong with ZTE
Not big deal to me as I'm keeping the device as I do like the all package offering despite some software glitches that I don't like and hope being improved in software update.
Battery life is quite good overall and not having complaints about that 1.5 month I'm having the device.

This. I'm betting they simply forgot to update the 3100mAh they wrote in for the original 3140mAh battery. I'm not sure why they would haven't just written in 3140 in the first place, though; it's not like anyone was going to know any better (though I understand what you're saying about batteries not being exact).
I ran same Device Info app on my UK ZTE Axon 7 A2017G phone.
Reported 3100ma.
But also strange CPUz can not utilized the battery capacity at Axon 7 but on S7 Edge not that issue.
Only AIDA can do that at Axon device.
Well just ZTE give the same attention to G version as at U and for me I forgive them
That's matter most of all to me.
Optimizing/polishing the software and having better user experience.
It's already good level but needs some further works from them and eliminate the few glitches having right now.
Here's from 7 Edge
And here's from Axon 7
