Data Encrypted - Pixel Experience Android 9 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello Everybody,
I have so following problem with data encrypted in twrp:
I installed latest version of twrp
! Used MIUI 10 developer version and data was encrypted according Twrp (according to settings device is not encrypted.
To flash no new OS from Twrp I had to format all data.
After that I installed second latest (08.11) Pixel Experience and Magical latest version.
I rebooted system.
! No Twrp and magisk APK installed.
Manually installed Twrp and magisk APK
I can install adaway also (superuser is installed)
Problem:
System mentioned that there is a new version of Pixel experience (15.11) and I wanted to install it. But it didn't work -> Twrp stopped installation, because data is still encrypted.
To install latest version I formated everything again and did above steps. But again with same result... I can install everything (manually) and everything works without to install new versions of Pixel Experience or anything else from Twrp recovery.
I tried to encrypt my phone over settings, but after encryption the system freezes after putting in pin code at the start. In twrp recovery I have to put in the code too, but again encryption is still available...
I have no further idea. Could you help me? Don't want to loose all data Everytime an update appears
Magisk "force encryption" manually enabled. The other setting is not enabled.
Thank you very much for your help!!!!!

Data needs to be formatted via TWRP in order to backup

Hi,
I've tried about 5 different roms on my redmi 5 plus during the past few weeks, And the only one that works for me well is the MIUI 10 global. So i did installed it from fresh :
1. I've flashed it via Miflash using original MIUI 10 Global img file (Clean all and lock)
2. I've unlocked the phone with Xiaomi unlock tool
3. I've used adb command to flash TWRP 3.2.3.0
4. I've flashed magisk 17.3 (I tried 18.0 few days ago and it wasn't recognised with the latest magisk manager 6.1.0)
I've noticed that when I want to make a backup via rebooting into TWRP recovery,It asks me for a password to decrypt some partiton on TWRP startup, So I can't creat a proper backup like I want to, Since some partitions are inaccessible to TWRP.
I thought that wiping data would help, But after I configure all the apps and try to backup via TWRP recovery, The same password/decrypt happens again.
I have no lock screen password (i don't use lockscreen at all).
is there a way to fix it so i can do a proper TWRP backup ?
Thank you

Stuck on poco by xiaomi boot screen

Im stuck on poco boot screen and after few seconds it reboots to fastboot.
I did a twrp backup (system, vendor, data and boot) when everything was working but now after i try to restore the twrp backup, it still doesnt fix the problem.
before this, i flashed a new PE build and that had a boot loop for some reason.
wtf?
How does my twrp backup restore doesnt fix it ?
Do i have to miflash a fastboot rom ? is it the only fix for me now ?
You may find your solution here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-decryption-t3853004/page42
You can also install latest ROM and restore data only.

i dont have a firmware zip in my storage and i cant push it through adb because i didnt have debugging enabled. So i cant cleanflash because i dont have the firmware zip. Looks like i will need to use the mifash method.
flash the original Vendor image!
if you have flashed PE over MIUI10.2.x
, this mean you have used MODIFIED VENDOR IMAGE
poco supports Treble!
you cannot flash PE/ or any other custom rom over modified vendor image
take the latest vendor image from mirror.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/beryllium/
and flash it view twrp
and reboot
you wil lbe fine
i fixed the problem. I put firmware - vendor zip in sd card and flashed it through sd card. All good now. Thanks for trying to help my dumb ass.
i guess there might be some magisk module thats causing the bootloop after i flash a new build of rom . Maybe.
If thats the case. There's a flashable zip file that lets you disable a magisk module via TWRP.. ehehehe.. happened to me too. I flash gl tools via magisk systemless then it got stuck on pocofone f1 loading screen.. so i flashed that magisk module disabler.. hit some commands via TWRP TERMinal emu.. then it boot right away..

Always uninstall Magisk before flashing new update if you are on official twrp cuz it doesn't support ota, update then reinstall it. If you have did so wipe encrypted internal storage , wait a bit it will boot .

Tell someone to call you, it was glitchy for me for the first 2-3 mins after the call but later works fine.

Can't install Magisk via TWRP

Hello. I was going through this guide --> https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/xiaomi-poco-f1-root-unlock-bootloader-t3852520
I've got a problem. I've unlocked bootloader and next I'm booting correctly to TWRP, but when I try to flash any zip of magisk manager I receive an error: "invalid zip file format". I'm using TWRP 3.2.3-0 from first post in guide - I was trying to use both 20181012 and 20181211 versions and no result - still the same error. What can I do? I'm using POCOPHONE F1 with MIUI Global 10.2.3.0

You have an old version of TWRP... You need to install a newer version - 3.2.3.2 - which you will find by doing a search for it here on XDA...
Just load img file on INTERNAL storage of phone, choose install>install image file> and click on recovery partition. After install go to home menu and restart recovery...
If you still have issues then download magisk again, it may be corrupt...
Cheers....

First of all, I'm not going to install TWRP - I want only to boot into TWRP once for flashing Magisk's ZIP.
Second - in this guide OP says that Unofficial TWRP should be used. I've tried v1 and v2 TWRP from the guide. So which other TWRP should I try to boot into? This? https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-x-t3836241

I am new on this forum (pocophone) and i seee how messed up it is. You should definitly use official twrp
You don't need official TWRP, but I think you need to install Disable Force Encryption, before installing the Magisk app
This thread will be more helpful.

what are you trying to flash? If it is Magisk Manager, it is in apk format and you just click it to install. No TWRP.
If it is Magisk, which version are you trying to flash? Try 18.1. And preferably download any file from its source.
EDIT: If Magisk v18.1 is also not flashing, try Magisk Canary version. Some phones need that.

I'm trying to flash zip with Magisk Manager, as it is said in guide. I know that I can have an apk, but is it enough to just install apk without having custom recovery (but having bootloader unlocked)?

I will try it if nothing from "my" guide will work, because I really don't want to lose my storage (I see that in this guide installing Magisk needs it)

Well Here is how i managed it to work. After i unlocked my bootloader i launched twrp and flashed beta magisk 19.0 (not latest anymore because 19.1 just today showed up) then i reminded that i forgot about DisableForceEncryption_Treble_v18.0.zip so i flashed iit and after it flashed again magisk 19.0, after reboot it everything was fine

There is no need to flash DFE. I've unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP, flashed PE and Magisk 19.0 all without DFE which I don't need.
@OP, you need TWRP version 3.2.3-2 at a minimum, which you can boot using 'fastboot boot twrp-<version>.img' . Then flash Magisk. You'll
need at least version 18.1.

So, to make it clear (and to not brick my poco... ):
1. I should use TWRP image from this link --> https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomipocophonef1.html...
2. ...and I don't need to replace my recovery - just booting it once (as You described) is enough.
3. I should flash Magisk's ZIP, not MagiskManager's ZIP or Magisk.apk
4. No more flashing, clearing data and other operations needed.
Am I right?
1 - Yes.
2 - That's down to you. I have TWRP recovery installed and I have the app as well.
3 - You need to flash Magisk and install the apk. See this link for instructions on installing Magisk.
4 - Yes, you need to clear data, wipe dalvik and cache when installing a new ROM. If updating a current rom, I just wipe dalvik & cache.
HTH
Hey I know its not a thread related but if u install magisk can u tell me if you have 60fps screen recoding option? Because I already Dirty flashed rom once and nothing changed still cant unlock it :/

[Help] Confused how to proceed with custom ROM installation

Hello
I am using MIUI global 11.0.8 stock rom. Recently just unlocked the bootloader and trying to figure out how to flash LineageOS in it.
Tried to followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/xiaomi-poco-f1-unlock-bootloader-custom-t3839405
But it seems like it is pretty old and not updated. Should i follow this thread or there is something updated? Also feels like i'm missing various things like disabling encryption(!), needs to be on old stock rom for proper installation, customized TWRP recovery and specific Xiaomi programs to do it properly. Could someone identify the missing info/issues i'm having trouble with? TIA.

FIRST OF ALL BACKUP YOUR DATA. Go to fastboot mode and flash latest twrp recovery. Boot to recovery and wipe cache, system and data. Since this is the first time you are installing a custom rom you should format data in twrp. After formatting data reboot to twrp then transfer latest Lineage OS flashable zip in you phone's storage and flash it. Then flash gapps if you want. Then magisk if you want root and DFE if you don't want encryption. That's it. Now reboot to system.
And remember google is your friend.

After P.Experience Rom TWRP is gone and everything is encrypted

Hi. I installed Android 12 Pixel Experience rom and my TWRP gone after this. After installing the rom, TWRP replaced with Pixel Experience's own recovery mode. Currently, the ROM is installed and I can use it without any problems, but I cannot switch to a different ROM in any way. When I install TWRP with ADB, I cannot install the file named "DM Verity & ForceEncrypt disabler" because everything is encrypted. I do not use any passwords on the ROM (fingerprint, screen lock, etc.). I want to install new ROM so I need to make TWRP permanent and remove encryption on TWRP, because i can't see my files. As I said, the phone is can open and I can use it without problems. Looking forward to your help, thank you.
1) Backup everything
2) Install twrp and sideload the PE rom but don't boot into it
3) Flash the DFE (disable force encryption ) zip from twrp
4) Boot into the rom
Remember you won't get the ota updates if you disable the encryption and have to manually update the rom

You need to read the instructions before you flash anything. PE A12 is encrypted by default and because TWRP can't handle the decryption of A12 ROMs, PE replacing the TWRP with PE Recovery, so to be able to get OTA updates. This is a workaround until TWRP fix the decryption issue.
To flash another ROM, take backup of the files you want from your Internal Storage, flash TWRP via ADB, wipe everything and format data. Then connect your device to PC and transfer the ROM and the files you want to flash into your Internal Storage and proceed with flashing.
