Hi I have a smart cover and even if I have one unread message it shows that I have 3. What is the cause of this? Sometimes I read the message but the notification still shows 3 through that little window on the smart case. Is there any fix for this

Same for me, on my always on display if I get a new text message it shows 2 when it's just one message I received. I've gone into my messages app to check if there are any unread messages but there are none. Kind of annoying but now if I get it saying 3 I know its only 2 cause I'm a maths genius [emoji41]

Hi,
is there any way to add a sending animation (like a progressbar or something) when you click on "send" for a text message?
Sometimes I click on sent and don't see if the click was working because the phone seems to do nothing. So I click again and this often causes the text messaging applicaction to crash.
Does anyone have the same problems?
maybe you should try enabling sms sent notification in the settings..........yes it may be sometimes annoying when sending to multiple contacts, as you get multiple notifications
no I don't want a notfication that the message was sent.
I'd like to have a notification that the message is sending, to prevent clicking on send again.
On my last windows mobile phone (samsung omnia) there was a little animation during the sending of a message. And i was wondering why there isn't anything like that on the HD2.
when using the htc messaging client, the message will move upwards into the space under the last message you got from the person your replying to, to show that it has been sent.........
i wish there was a way, would take away some of my worries about txting lol

Yeah I know, but this only shows me that it was sent.
But I'm looking for an animation or similar WHILE it's sending

Samsung has a very different software overlay than HTC does. You will not get this functionality out of Sense or Windows Mobile as default.
You might be able to get it by using a different SMS application (maybe check Freeware Pocket PC?).
Every time I read someone's text regardless of if i respond or not, when I go back to the inbox it still has the "1" bubble on that thread showing I have one new msg when i don't. Anyone know a fix?

Sometimes this happens when you try to send at the same time a message is being received. That could be your issue.
Yep mine do that too sometimes... If I go back in it normally fixes it. Seems to happen when I go to the text through the notification bar.

Try using Handcent instead. I was having the same problem and decided to use Handcent and turn off the stock messaging app. My experience is that the stock app is glitchy.

Seems to happen if you are using the notification bar or widget. Going directly to the messages does not exhibit the problem... at least for me.
My stock messaging app too seems a bit slow to update the unread count. This applies to the actual messaging app as well as the widget.
i can be in the app, read and reply, back out to the main level that shows all messages, and it will show the message as unread even though i replied to it.
Definately odd. I can get rid of it by going into the message, then scrolling down.
Thanks guys I wasn't sure if it was just my phone or all. Sounds like all. I like the sense 3.0 messaging app enough though to just deal with it, I don't like handcent.

I have a group messaging thread between 3 people: A, B, and C. Sometimes when I send an individual text message to person A my phone sends it as a group message to A, B, and C. I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it. This is especially a problem because the 3 people are my girlfriend and my parents...
I'm using the stock messaging app if that helps. Has anybody else experienced this issue?
Are you sure you are sending it to an individual? Also check the settings to see if something is off. I personally don't like the stock app, it feels sluggish and weird.
Make sure you are not replying to the group message. 9 times out of 10 it will only show the person whom you text the most in the send to block. The only way to see everyone in it is the view information about the message by opening the message and taping on the 3 dots in the upper right corner and choose edit recipients.

I've noticed when checking my messages in morning, that every so often I see an sms from unknown sender in the list and this happens where from 1am - 6am. the message will then disappear from the list
anyone else get these

I think that is not related with phone but with sms app other person is using. Some apps (or special codes) allow sending anonymous sms. What I didnĀ“t know was the possibility of making them vanish on receiver's phone at a given time

I get this exact behavior too!
I have a new Huawei mate 10 pro. I see this empty message from unknown_sender every morning. If I open it, there is nothing and it disappears. I have tried to text back, but that is not possible. If you try to call it, it shows as "Call NN:NN" in the menu, but in the phone app, it actually tries to call the number 6566. I have not been able to find any other information on it.
yeh, not sure what is causing it
Just delete the message and it should not appear again... I think it's a reminder of an unread sms.

It comes back all time and nothing to do with unread messages as appears even when all messages have been read

Did u try to delete? It could be a push message?
I use a different SMS app and it doesn't appear. Probably bugs in standard app

I have the exact same problem. Huawei Mate 10 Pro, stock sms app.
Mate 10 (non-pro) using Textra - no problems or unknown senders.
i wonder if it something to do with their app, on the p20 pro not had this issue yet (it use android messages as default messaging app, but i'm using chompsms)
I'm also having the same prob with mate 10. The sms doesn't come as a message you only see it if you go into messages and I get mines between 3 am to 4 am every day. At first I never opened it but if I checked every day the time the message came would always change. I called my phone company to see if they could fix the issue and they said all is well and they saw no issues with the phone. Since then it stopped coming except for last night when I checked the "unknown sender" message literally disappeared as soon as I opened my messages folder to check. I'm freaked out and don't know what to do.
Been getting same thing most mornings on mate 10 pro using default sms app.
Hi, I have the same problem with Huawei P 20 Lite, the first time was 3 weeks ago.
Now when I for unread messages I see Unknown sender but in 1 second desappear, I think is for unread messages, but why?
Thanks
I have a Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and the same thing happened to me just now. I freaked out, and googled it, which brings me here to this page. I'm relieved to find out it's just a Huawei bug, not some freak psycho invading my phone.

It's not just a Huawei bug, it's been reported on other brands over the years like Samsung and Sony.

Have the same problem. Huawei P20 Lite. Very annoying. Doesn't happen every night, just a few times a week. Solution, anyone?
I get this too. Pretty sure it's Chinese spies downloading all your personal data.
I searched Google and seen many with the same issue, but no solution. The issue is getting no text notifications sometimes. I get the text message but no sound or badge number saying a text came in. It's so random I can be texting a person back and fourth. I get 99% of notification a text came in example a sound and visual iindication but a few slip in with out so much of a beep. I did a factory reset, I made messager notification high priority, and I have no other message app. Is it because of Oreo? Is because of Google? Or is just Samsung app broken? No idea, but it kills me.

Same issue here. No idea either and definitely is Oreo. Never had this on the Note 8 with prior setup.
Disabled Google assistant and it got much better, but not 100% far less text messages slipping through without a notification.
