Can't unlock bootloader || flash new ROM... - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello.
I recently got my new Redmi Note 5 3/32GB Global version. Simply, I don't like MIUI's 10 performance, so I want to use custom ROM. I logged to my MI Account, downloaded Mi Unlock (v3 and v2).
v3 - account application area query failed
v2 - it counts to 50% then stop with message "Device unlocked no need to repeat unlock"
Mi Flash - does not see my device, same as fastboot. USB Debugging enabled, currently running on MIUI 10.0.2.0.
+ I tried to create new account, ends up with some error message in chinese.
How to unlock that tarded bootloader? Thanks for your time...

Did you follow every step? Checked "OEM Unlock" in settings, linked account to device?

By the message that you received it looks that your device was shipped unlocked.
What do you type in fastboot mode to say fastboot doesn´t recognice it? provide some screenshot.
Did you check in developer options to verify if is already unlocked?

couldn't verify device Error with mi flash

Hi guys, my redmi note 4 arrived yesterday. I do the procedure to unlock the bootloader and today I've received the SMS from xiaomi that allows me to unlock it. I don't find anything for redmi note 4,but only how yo fix the same error in note 3.can anyone help me please?

This is interesting. I have the global ROM and get the same message after 50%. . . couldn't verify. . . when trying to unlock the bootloader. What would you suggest for me. . . get the Global Developer ROM?
The Xiaomi solution is: if it doesn't work the first time, wait a week, then it will!
@doktorspin, here what I've done:
1)My phone asks me to make an update to the latest version, so I did
2)Then I signed up in MI account in the phone [settings =>account =>mi account]
3)boot on fastboot, opened mi flash, and then it works over 50%, and didn't give me any more the error '' couldnt verify device.... "
So it works for me, but I don't know if I only was Lucky
Your O.P. indicates you have the Chinese stable ROM and Peshkoff recommended that you flash the Chinese developer ROM to fix the "couldn't verify device" problem. I wondered if he'd recommend the Global developer ROM for someone with the same "couldn't verify device" problem but with the Global stable ROM.

Maccome mai si deve chiedere permesso di sbloccare il bootloader??

Because xiaomi phones are locked, if you wanna unlock them you must do a procedure, after it you must wait an SMS from xiaomi that allows you to unlock bootloader with mi flash

That's not an explanation: it's a rehearsal of Xiaomi policy. Locking the bootloader is definitely not modification friendly.
And I have the SMS. It is useless when the Xiaomi servers are incapable of verifying my data in order to unlock the bootloader. There is no explanation. Locking the bootloader with a hopeless system to unlock it is needless stupidity.
@doktorspin this xiaomi service sucks. They should not unlock bootloader so there were no problems.

No, there are sufficient problems either way.
I want to control my fonts, not use the rubbish someone else packages. I want to monitor my Wi-fi and internet, not live in the hope that Xiaomi is able to protect the phone. I want to be able to change the look and feel of my phone. I want to use CyanogenMod as the operating system: Xiaomi will continue to fiddle with a closed system and won't be able to provide longterm updates.
I set the phone in fastboot and I log in in Miui. Com, the procedure arrives until 50%,then I have this message of error :" Current account is different from the account info on the device."
I have MIUI Global 8.0 Stabil 8.0.4.0( MBFMIDG)

There could be a couple of things wrong, are you not following the procedure correctly? You must flash the China Dev fastboot rom to unlock your bootloader. Once you do that you need to log in on the phone to the mi account that you requested the unlock permission for. You need to switch the OEM unlock option on under developer settings and then log into your mi account (has to be the same as on your phone) on the Xiaomi unlocker tool on your PC.
couldn"t verify
Hooray! I managed to unlock the bootloader after 10 days.
SOLVED: I updated to latest Chinese Rom
I solved the problem by following the instructions from this forum here : http://en.miui.com/thread-257729-1-1.html
In fact, my MI MIX was already unlocked for some reasons but I would not know if I did not check. I was getting the same error "Couldn't verify device" stuck at 50%.

Is there any way to switch to china developer rom from Global Dev 7.2.23? Updater won't let me. Or is there a specific chinese rom version that is allowed to flash via updater? Thanks!

wait 2 3 days more. its normal. thier servers take more time . just try after 2 3 days. it will unlock.
my advice is that you should unlock it officially
regards
its more than a week for me , getting permissions..still I'm not able to unlock the bootloader ! Its like Xiaomi is forcing to stay on MiUi
Be sure you have:
1) added your mi account to accounts on your phone
2) enabled "OEM unlock" in developer settings
3) a miui dev rom

flash dev rom through miflash thn unlock bootloader
Try this if you have not found it yet in other post.
In About menu, unlock the developer mode. by clicking the MIUI version 7 times
Then go to Additional settings > Developer Options > Tap on Mi Unlock Status
Tap the only one button in this menu - to associate you Mi account to the phone.
Back to developer option,
Enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging.
Tested on MIUI 8 Global Developer Rom
Good luck

Always 99% / 86012 error while unlcoking bootloader - [ UPDATE - UNLOCKED! ]

UPDATE : Okay so i finally unlocked the bootloader finally. before the last try, i turned off the password/fingerprint lock and then it unlocked. everyone should try the same thing
I done every possible steps but nothing is happening! the bootloader unlock process always getting stuck at 99% and Account Bound error is coming on the PC and on the phone, "86012:*****" error showing on 'settings-additional settings-dev option-Mi Unlock status'.
I tried with 2 different Mi phone/account.
done with i.mi.com stuffs and find device, tried FlyVPN but there is no server of 'Shanghai"... etc!
Nothing is happeneing! I am a beta tester of MIUI 9 China, and see, i couldn't even unlock the bootloader yet! Wow! What a thing! Its been a week and so, still my bootloader is locked.
No help from Xiaomi.
I need a promising way to unlock. so help me.
See, I have unlocked three RN4 devices, none without the wait.
Had to wait 6-7 days for each one of them. There has been no luck for me in doing anything other than wait for 6-7 days after getting the permission.
But then, maybe something might work out for you.
The steps I tried or know of:
1. Being on the developer ROM is a must. Chances of unlocking bootloader from global stable MIUI are very slim.
2. Use old Mi Unlock tool. A quick google will land you there.
3. Don't change the accounts in the phone. You should be logged in with the account you got permission in.
4. Go to developer options and check "USB Debugging", "OEM Unlock" and one more option something sort of "USB Debugging Security".
5. Try to bind the account. It will yield a response with some code and Chinese text. Ignore it.
6. Use the original cable and use the ports on the back of the CPU.
7. Keep "Find my device" turned on. And log in to your account in your desktop and try locating your phone.
8. Now try unlocking.
I followed all the above steps I could find out from anywhere and I was able to do it.
In your case I do think you are either not in the developer build or you need to use the old Mi tool.

Xiaomi Mi8 Bricked after locking bootloader

Hello. I have a problem. I have Xiaomi Mi8, which was sent back on a warranty, because it just didn't powered on one day. It was sent from PL to China, they sent it back after a month and from this time I had some issues. The phone came back with unlocked bootloader. I couldn't use Google Pay to use contactless payment, couldn't install Netflix for example, and other general problems caused by unlocked bootloader appeared.
Today I wanted to change that, so I entered fastboot mode, connected phone to PC, and entered "fastboot oem lock". It said OKAY, finished, but then phone was stuck in a bootloop.
In recovery, it says that "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device". Wiping data doesn't help.
I wanted to re-flash it with Global ROM, but Mi Flash says "Error: FAILED (remote: Erase is not allowed in Lock State)"
I wanted to unlock it using Mi-Unlock but this fails also. It ends with "Current account is not bound to this device. Add your account and device in MIUI's Settings Developer options Mi Unlock status" message.
I cannot enter settings because phone will not boot up. I read about authenticating with account_auth.exe on c mi com/thread-2173190-1-0.html (remove spaces, sorry but I cannot post links yet). I logged in, but then instead of "Unauthorized Xiaomi account" I have "Request failed" message and I cannot click "Apply Bind".
I'm running out of ideas. Phone will not boot, it can't be flashed, what else can I do other than replacing main board? Please help.
I had the same problem with Redmi Note 7 pro I have changed from china version to India version but I had some security issues with some app as the Bootloader was open since I flashed India version I did as you did from cmd I loced the Bootloader so the MIUI was blocked and phone was bricked I had to use boxes software then go back to china version again then setup new mi account with new E mail and different SIM then I was able to flash new global indian version of MIUI 12.5 but unfortunately I lost my IMEI 1 but lucklly had saved my Data on Google account ,so you should use boxes software to use your phone again!

As far as using mobile data, MI account already recognized my device & successfully passed the "Add account and device"
During unlocking, I made sure to open a hotspot from the phone # which is registered with the MI account.
*edit: it's a Wifi only Pad.. so.. though I do have a choice of Wifi or hotspot during the unlocking process
I have also tried the exact unlocking method from technobuzz link you have provided. Thank you for sharing.

I was ecstatic!!! when i first saw the pic
I've got this.. pic with an unlock. Does it mean bootloader is unlocked?
if i choose the second option and enter WiFi information, then choose the first option, it boots as though factory reset has been done (goes through the initial setup) BUT all the data is there. and status shows it's STILL LOCKED.
Now the 2nd time, i let the locked icon stay and boot into fastboot and try installing TWRP, it failed :-(
this is the error i get:
fastboot flash recovery twrp1.img
Sending 'recovery' (33812 KB) OKAY [ 0.842s]
Writing 'recovery' FAILED (remote: 'No support by lock control')
fastboot: error: Command failed
What now?
Thank you for any/all the help i can get

Glad it worked but if there is no recovery or rom for this model, why unlock the bootloader?
You can install a stock Global or other rom but without locking the bootloader and rooting to have a certified play store.
