Comparatively, is this a major upgrade or a side grade? I am contemplating picking the 7.1 up.

There you go. No ics for ace and s.
Well it's not, they just said which one will be upgraded first. They did not specifically say that ace won't be upgraded.
So, in short.. it's still up in the air.

yeah thats the case ......
if you read samsungs official things they haven't mentioned anything which cnet is saying...
if they upgrade only 2 phones then i see they will loose number 1 spot in 2012 which they gained in 2011....as most of owners would go crazy on upgrades
Samsung Electronics plan to provide the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for GALAXY devices. The platform update for GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow
The ICS-upgradable devices are the GALAXY S II, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus
For upgradable models, Samsung will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements.

From what i understand it's not still up in the air. S2 and note will be the first to be upgraded but the whole list of phones to be upgraded is this one:: the Galaxy R, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Galaxy Tab 8.9, the Galaxy Tab 7.7, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (the dual-core variant of the 7.0) and the Galaxy S2 LTE
To be honest i was not hoping for an official update for the ace but it's weird that galaxy s, galaxy s plus and w won't get an update
Hi,
I'm debating whether to buy the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or wait? What do you guys suggest? Should I wait around for the Galaxy Tab 2 or the Galaxy Note 10.1? I will primarily use it for web browsing and books/textbooks. I usually find pdf versions of all my College textbooks online so the Tab would be great to use on a daily basis for that. Any opinion is welcome.
Thanks for your inputs.
Personally I'd wait until the delayed June release of the Note 10.1 but that's just me.
Fact that it will have the quad core Exynos processor, microSD slot and the digitizer make it more desirable already.
Decisions - Decisions!!!
Now that the specs and pricing for the Galaxy Tab 2 has been revealed, I think the original may be better than the Tab 2 based on the processor alone. I'm sure pricing will go down on the original 10.1. Although, the Tab 2 does allow for memory expansion! Here are the Pros and Cons.
Galaxy Tab 2 Pros
-microsd
-Ice Cream Sandwich
Galaxy Tab 2 Cons
-TI OMAP 4 processor
-VGA front facing camera
-3 megapixel rear camera
Galaxy Tab 10.1 Pros
-Ice Cream Sandwich (some time this year)
-Tegra 2 Processor
-2 megapixel front facing camera
-slightly thinner
Galaxy Tab 10.1 Cons
-don't know when Ice Cream Sandwich will be released
-1 year old specs
What do you guys think? Get the original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, or get the Galaxy Tab 2, or just go with the Asus Prime, OR continue waiting for the Note 10.1?
I don't see OMAP 4 as being a clear cut loser to Tegra 2. Then again I don't game much at all . . for me I'd rather have the OMAP 4 for the additional video decoding capabilities it has over Tegra 2. You'll find lots of complaints/questions about HD video playback on Tegra 2 devices.

dont buy SGT10.1
it is about a year old. I own one and lately it has been crashing alot (non rooted version using Go Launcher HD for tab). If I were you I'd get Asus eeePad Transformer Prime or Ipad3.

That's a good comparison. I bought mine in January and debated quite a lot over it, knowing a newer tablet was coming. For me, it came down to the price of the tablet AND the price of accessories. You can find some great deals on accessories for the original 10.1 right now and likely find the tablet for $350 or so. Accessories for the GTab 2 will likely be at a premium.
hi
i'm planing to buy one of those...galaxy tab 7 or HTC flyer...
wts ur idea?which one is better?
thanks
SG TAB 7 has working ICS already wheil Flyer well we all know how it is...
Hardware wise... do the math...
I wouldnt change Flyer for Tab regardles OS.
Neither. Get a Nexus 7, unless you have to have an SD slot. The Tab is a good value for the money, but the nexus 7 makes it look like a ripoff lol.
But if your wanting best bang for the buck with an SD, and a rear camera, than yeah get the Gtab2
EDIT: Wait what tab are you talking about? Samsung has 3 7 inch tabs. The orignal Galaxy Tab, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus, and the new Galaxy tab 2 7.0. Because if you're talking the original Gtab, than the Flyer is worlds ahead of that oversized Galaxy S1 phone.
Okay, we all know our GS5 are not so mod-friendly (without voiding your warranty) and recent updates have crapped all over our experience... who here is going to jump on the new Nexus line?
I'm actually going for the iPhone 6s as my main device and hope on the Nexus 6 (2014) or the Nexus 5X next year for my birthday as my Android play toy.
Neither. Moto X Pure. Much better than N5X.
Moto x Pure is even bigger than the 5x....
D
Galaxy S5 (the new kid)
Nexus 5 (stolen!)
Nexus One
Galaxy S
Galaxy Exhibit 4G (the OG)
Recently got the Galaxy Tab 7+ and I notice I'm getting 10% of my actually speed on wifi when doing a speed test. Normally I get around 480mbps and doing a speed test and with the Galaxy Tab 7+ I get around 40-50mbps. Very rare will it ever hit above 400mbps. I tested with multiple wifi6 devices and it seems only the Tab7 performs the worst. One tablet was on Android 11 OneUI 3.1 and it was getting 40-50mbps. My second one brand new out of the box got the correct wifi6 speeds (400+mbps) until I updated to Android 11. Now i'm seeing wifi performance around 40-50mbps. I'm not sure what's going on or did the update screw up the wifi?
Note: Did all the network troubleshooting and factory resetting. Also tested it standing next to my router.
(2x) Galaxy note 10 ~ 420-450mbps
(2x) Galaxy S21 Ultra ~ 420-450mbps
(2x) Galaxy Tab 7+ ~ 40-50mbps (very rare it will spike up to 400+)
You are not alone. I have the similar poor wifi 6 performance with my S7, as opposed to my N20.
