Hi. I'm using the phone for the last couple of days and I wanted to change Bluetooth quality settings (codec and bitrate) from dev menu, but it's greyed out. Any hints?
They stay greyed out unless you are actively playing media audio on your device, then you can change these settings in Developer Options (while you are playing a song). The settings, however, do not 'stick' and revert to the default AAC codec when you exit Developer Options. Hauwei needs to fix this in the next firmware update because older headsets use SBC and top of the line headsets use aptx. We need an option to change these settings and save the changes.
I m still not able to get Aptx its still grayed out

It has to be supported and advertised by the BT device.

Not really.. the chosen codec/option will stick temporarily, it will remain the same until you disconnect the earphones even if you exit dev options. They do not revert to default when you exit dev options.
And yes, having to re-enter dev options and change again to the codec you want, every single time, is very annoying. The user's preference should be saved..
aptX is on by default on my unit (developer options).
Does the grey aptX has to white in the Bluetooth menu to be enabled?

Hi
I have H930 on rooted OREO (H93020d_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0326.kdz)
I use 2 sets of bluetooth headphones that support the aptX protocol.
RHA MA750 Wireless and Bluedio Victory.
Unfortunately, after connecting the headphones, the phone does not display in the notification bar in which protocol is connected.
Every time I connect the set to the phone I have to enter the programming options, to the Bluetooth
transmission where AAC is selected by default - and manually switch on aptX.
When I change it, I hear a break in the transmission and then it displays that it works in aptX and I can hear better sound from the headphones.
Is anybody know the possibility to force permanently this protocol?
Has anyone observed such a problem?
Best regards
figer

If the highest quality codec your headphones support is Aptx, then you can go to the bluetooth pairing settings of your headphones and select "Best Sound Quality" underneath "Connection type".
Could you give me the path?
Options / Network / Bluetooth / ???

Seems like your "V" headset doesn't even have that option. Check for the option with your "Bluedio" headphones. You should see "Connection type" above Pair/Unpair

V is my Bluedio Victory. They support aptX.
I switched to RHA MA750 Wireless and changed the language for you in my phone - please look in the attachments
When I change in advanced settings on aptX - it is aptX - until the headphones are disconnected.
On reconnection - AAC is default again

I didn't found any tool or resolution
I have very same problem on latest build on my LG G6
Same problem with V30+ and Audioengine B1
same issue on lg g7
Go to the dev settings and codec Bluetooth. Select APTX or APTX HD.
Work?
Regards.
have to do that with every connection.

ahh.. you mention Dev Settings so I thought it was some app specific settings
Another option.. Maybe try the Fiio Music app? Read reviews that it gives you the option you guys are looking for. (Please note.. I myself do not use wireless headsets. just trying to help)
The problem is that lg sets aac higher than apt-x on devices that had both.
I have tried to contact them, no luck.
Having to manually select apex each thine of ridiculous

Has there ever been a fix for that? I have to select AptX in the Dev settings every time I connect my Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless to my V30 as they default to AAC every time I connect them again. This is really annoying but so far I wasn't able to change this behaviour - we probably can't, right?

So, I am using a Sony speaker and v4a doesn't process the audio until I change the BT bitrate in developer options to 48,000. It is okay when I use it but whenever I reboot the device, the settings get reverted back again to defaults. Is there any way for me to let the settings stick for good?

ARe you even sure that 48k is the correct bitrate. Most music is published in 44.1k so it might be changing back automatically to the correct format (44.1k) whenever you play something. Can you say with certainty that the files you are playing are 48k?

Hi again,
I have the Audeze Mobius Headphones which use LDAC and I would like to set the LDAC Playback Quality in Developer Options to "Optimized for Audio Quality", but although it work in the moment, as soon as I close the Developer Options and I open them again, I see that the setting has been reset back to Best Effort, every time.
I do not know what to do.
Audeze told me that in their phones this doesn't happen, and that the Headphones won't work properly in Best Effort.
What can I do to force the "Audio Quality"?
Thanks!
Anybody?
If your phone is rooted and USB-debugging enabled, then you can try to edit related setting in device's files build.prop & settings.db by means of ADB, if such setting therein is present.
Hi to all! The same question for Lineage 16 on Huawei P9 and Shanling MW200. I;m trying to set this settings, but it reset to default after BT disconnect. How to change this default setting?

Lookasso, did you luck to fix this problem?
Our phone was announced to be capable of aptx and aptx HD. I own two different bluetooth receivers with aptx HD enabled. But when I connect the phone to them, it uses only aptx, as the connection info on our device and the LEDs on the receivers reveal. This behaviour did not change from Android 9 to 10.
My wife has a Mi A2, and with this device aptx HD works on both devices under Android 9 and 10. Is there a hidden way to activate aptx HD on our phone? Meanwhile I think our phone is heavily neglected by Xiaomi because such features present in a Mi A2 mysteriously vanished.

It's on developer settings.
Also, if forcing aptx HD is not working or has bugs, remember to report it.
This was the first thing I tried, but predictably switching to aptx HD in developer settings has no effect (I wonder what use these settings have - I never heard that someone succeeded in activating codes this way which his phone didn't choose automatically).
Update: I changed to crdroid 6.6 - and now aptx HD works flawlessly.
Hi sir, today I've got issue with connection to Fii0 BTR3K - no sound from PowerAmp which I was using for weeks without problems before. I did security update from May yesterday (yep late a bit) and got this issue. Fortunatelly to me I have SBH50 from Sony to test everything on low profile SBC connection. Lucky to me, I did another update to August security patch for Android 10 today.
Now I have Aptx LL ([email protected]) working with BTR3K (purple indication on LED). What I learned from today: Do not touch Dev settings! By misstake Dev settings could store your input as wrong data in 'system default' for application (PowerAmp in my case) and lead to missfunction. In my case PowerAmp was reading [email protected] even from non-aptX device. Second: actual condition of connection could be changed during SW initialization. So test your player SW and try to reset it as I did.
For specified [email protected] I am using Hi-Res output of PA. I am pretty sure in numbers as I can hear the difference between SBC and aptX, and hear difference with 16 to 24 bit resolution change (by enabling\disabling tone processing in ounput pipeline). To enable 24 bit in PA you should disable \reset to default dithering method.
I think AptX-HD isn't fully supported by 2 reasons: no real benefits over LL profile + licensing catch.
Hope you will learn something from my evidence
I have haylou gt1 plus earbuds. Apart from bad connection , the buds are aptx-HD compatible, one of their selling points. When i go to developer settings to check, aptx is used. When I change it to HD, it detects the change, nothing happens, and when I go back, and enter dev settings again, it is still on aptx . I think that's time to throw it in the sea... it's already blue
Sapper Morton said:
Your earphone doesn't support AptX-HD, that's why when your manually change to it using Developer Options, the codec isn't selected; use AptX or AAC, as advertised by Haylou.

It's weird cause all reviews I read, specifically said aptx-HD, but you are right. It's only aptx. Nevermind. My mistake !

Are you on android one?
Cause I'm on miui 12 and i have lots of issues. First left and right connects to the phone at the same time and then i have volume problems
I am almost ready to pull the trigger on buying this phone but just wanted to be sure of the audio options first.
If I pair my BT headphones and go into developer options then I can set the Bluetooth codec to aptx. Does this mean that the phone supports this? I have seen reports that aptx is not available on Samsungs but this seems to contradict that.
If I have to go into dev options and enable it myself - that is fine.

In the dev settings, there are these options:
SBC (active for me)
AAC
aptX
LDAC
Scalable Codec
But I'm not sure if aptx works. I'm using SBC with the Buds+

I tried it with my Haylou GT1 Xr that supports aptX recently and it worked just fine. Looked under dev settings and aptX was showing as currently used codec. You should be fine.
