I'm not sure tbh, I've not had that problem. But if reset of camera app & cache or phone reset don't fix it, I'd suggest you consider a replacement since you still have warranty.
Make sure you backup important data before any reset.

Do you have a case on the phone?

Yes, the original one from the package.

That's normal. It's Huawei's noise reduction

[Q] Just getting green image with my new ffc (Vibrant)

I just install ffc on my vibrant. I was very excited that the installation went smooth until....First I got "camera failed" so I reinstalled the camera. Then the rear camera work ok, but the front camera just show a green image.
I'm using Bionix v1.3.1 and I also installed ffc_mod.zip prior of getting the camera from Hong Kong. I haven't found anyone with the same problem. I been reading different threats, but...
I also reinstall ffc_mod.zip
Another thing I try was to replace sgs-t959 for gt-i9000 using sgstools.
I also install mirror for Samsung S, and the picture is green, too.
Any ideas?

you think???
Sounds like another Chinese win in quality computer goods.
On a serious note though it really does sound like dead hardware.
Based on what you have described in your steps alone it sounds like almost not at all software related. Time to get a new one.

Hey! I'm chinese.
Seriously! man! I will have to wait again. Oh, well. Thanks guys.
I was just joking, I'm actually a ninja.
I agree that it sounds like a hardware issue. If it were software, I think the issue would more likely be that it wouldn't be detecting the camera at all. Let alone a GSOD.

[Q] Poor Camer Quality

Very recently I have been getting poor quality pictures. They look just OK. The are not really sharp and clear. Here are some samples. Any ideas? I see the dimensions are still 3264x1840 but the file sizes are also under 1MB in size. My settings haven't change and I haven't installed anything recently. I do not have any camera or picture add-on application installed either. I've uploaded the originals here: http://imgur.com/a/7Q3RS

Silly question, but have you checked the lens cover for dirt or misting up internally? If the camera is not focusing correctly then the image file size would reflect this as it is not capturing any details, even tho the resolution is set high. If your phone has for example been in na air conditioned area for a long time, then gets thrown into extreme heat you may get misting internally until the phone warms up.

Not at all a silly question, but I cleaned the lens cover profusely - to no avail. There are no scratches on the cover - it looks pristine - as the phone is not that old. I live in Abu Dhabi, and do have that issue with the heat and air conditioning. But it hasn't been that hot yet (remarkably). it even occurs indoors...
Also congratulations on joining XDA!

Crumbs, do you know when this started? Was it after such a condition with the cold/hot environment, is your camera permanently taking photos like this and does the image in the view finder (screen) before you take the shot look out of focus too???
Easy to state, but you may want to try a soft reset of the phone in case the software is playing up.
Thank you.

Give it a go and see what happens. If that does not work I would take your phone back fir repair/refund as it sounds like a hardware issue.

me too the same thing happened, but I realized that it was after I updated the firmware 1.30 to 1.35. All the photos I take are like the ones you are taking. I also have no idea how to change it, because I reset the device, already changed my rom already updated to firmware 1.40 and nothing worked.
I even went back to the factory mode with a RRU and nothing!
If anyone can help us ... would be great! : Confuso:

Looking around the web there does seem to be a few posts about this issue, so here are a few things to try:
Force close the camera app - clear cache/data,
Try touching the screen while in the camera to see if it will auto-focus/make the focus sound - Does it focus? Or focus and then looses it?
Check for a firmware update for the camera,
See if you can uninstall any firmware updates on the camera to see if that caused the issue,
Finally - From what I have read it is most likely to be a hardware fault - return the unit.

I've done all this and not solved. I do not think it's hardware because this only happened after you upgrade the firmware, I believe there must be some source code that would solve it.

Entirely possible, not sure if the OP updated his firmware. But if the firmware has broken it then you have a right to send it back for repair. After all, if they do not get any reports back of camera issues it is unlikely they will rush out a fix.

I live in Brazil and here there is no HTC store. I bought this device in the U.S. and I can not eviar the device there. So I'm trying to solve here, asking for help from our colleagues who are hackers cell.
Ah, that would make things rather difficult then. :/
I am thinking this is a hardware issue as well. My camera version is 4.0.522443. I remember updating the camera as soon as the update came out, sometime in January I think. It has been taking great photos since about a week ago. I haven’t installed anything new – just an update for ES File Explorer, which I uninstalled but it hasn’t made any difference in the quality of the pictures.
I may have to bite the bullet and send it in for repair.

If u have this smudged or blurred issue with your camera my config won't help.
Best factory reset your phone but I doubt that will help either.
To copy over the media_profile you need root access first by unlocking your bootloader and installing super user rights, then just use copy over with a root enabled file browser like root explorer and reboot.

Well, with all I know about cameras by being a freelancer photographer and with my little knowledge about android what I can say to try to help you is:
Did you wipe your phone between flashes? I'll guess you did since you tried multiple roms. If you didn't, You'd better try to...
If stock ROMs also show the problem I'm afraid to tell you that the only circumstances I saw this kind of problem in my life was in faulty camera sensors.
Were your sensor hit by any kind of laser or a very strong light while trying to snap a picture? Similar problems happened lately with photogs attending a concert. See link:
http://www.diyphotography.net/20000k-red-epic-sensor-burnt-lasers
If this didn't help and the problem started out of nowhere then maybe you got a faulty unit, are you still on warranty? If so, it's time to revert to stock and go to a service center!
Kindly hope I'm very wrong though... Good luck!

My feeling is that this could well be a hardware problem, not a software problem - ie nothing to do with your ROM, as you said you've flashed a few. If it is a hardware fault then see if you can get it fixed under warranty - but as has already been said, you'd need to return to your stock rom first otherwise they wont honour the warranty.
Having said that... were all the ROMS you tried AOSP / AOKP based? While I haven't had the problem you have and it does seem very unique, I have had more issues and bugs with the camera when using ROMS built from these sources on my i9300 than anything else. At the end of the day, Samsung know best how to drive their camera hardware, and so it doesn't surprise me that the vanilla Google roms can be a bit buggy when it comes to device-specific hardware such as the camera.
You could try flashing a stock-based custom rom - one built from Samsung firmware. Omega ROM that you are currently using also do a stock-based rom built on the 4.2.2 Samsung leak, I have used it and can confirm that it was pretty darn stable and the camera worked really well. It has a few mods in it, nothing spectacular, but it is stable.
Hope this helps.
This looks like a hardware problem. But can't be 100% sure.
I had a camera and someone dropped it, after dropping it, the camera started taking photos like that with stripes of different colours.
Did you drop it or water got on it?
very weird
I tried to fix permission, wipe dalvik and wipe bats and the camera starts to work again. Have no idea how long it will take. so far it is working as has never had a problem.
thanks for all answers...
and sorry to post this on the wrong section.

Are you on the latest version (4.1.2 jellybean)?
If updates could be installed via apk, life would be easier. But no, phone updates are done via OTA in about phone or samsung kies software.
Did you change any settings in the camera software? Try playing around with the settings to get optimal results. That's all you can really do, updating won't solve much other than fixing bugs mainly found elsewhere.

Not recommended. You could risk breaking your camera. Usually the default firmware is good enough and is the best for your camera module.
There have been some posts saying that custom roms may improve camera quality, some say stock is best for camera.

Ouch, you've had a horrible experience with custom roms. That's why it is good practise to back efs partition.
There are ways to restore efs yourself using your computer, but I haven't tried it myself (just follow the guides on XDA and you will be fine).
When you say mushrooms rom, do you mean marshmellow rom? You can if you are prepared for a lot of bugs

May I please ask what rom did you flash? Doing the incorrect procedures leads to the situation you face right now.
You should be able to keep a backup of your efs using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ol-updated-09-06-14-efs-professional-t1308546
Marshmellow bugs are different in different roms. No Mobile data, random crashing, not working apps are expected at this stage of development.
You can send to a mobile store to restore your efs if anything goes wrong.

If you have a watsapp number to send you two pictures on by my s2 (8mp) camera

They could replace camera for you. As for spare parts, they may be hard to find depending on your area. If it really is hardware related, you will notice a difference. If it isn't, then that just confirms that it is just the phones limitation.
It would be nice if you could show us what the problem is with the camera by taking a few pictures in brighter sunlight as we only can tell this way.
Your findings seem very plausible as more megapixels isn't necessarily a good thing (i mean, come on Samsung!) The quality of the sensor is more important.
Sorry, I don't use WhatsApp.

Broken camera module/software bypass

Long short, dropped my phone which broke the rear camera module. On android 6 the phone correctly detects a disfunctioning rear camera and only allows the front camera to be used.
This issue happened on Sony stock rom, shortly after an update was released for Sony stock android 7.
Since then I have flashed a large number of roms, both stock and custom. No luck finding a fix.
On android 7, the cameras cannot be used at all. Any app that tries to use a camera hangs and crashes. Doesn't matter if apps try to load the front or rear camera, or the flashlight.
This includes settings apps, quick toggles, apps like Skype and snap chat cannot even be opened. Google apps constantly crash, Google translate takes forever to load.
Is there any way I c an separate or mark the camera not to be used at all? Would like to have front camera functionality as is in android 6.
Currently using lineage OS 14.1-20170809, android 7.1.2
Happy to mess around in root settings, suspect I might need to edit the kernel. No experience in coding or programming but competent in backups and twrp, flashing, fast boot.
Logcat indicates camera every time there's a hang or crash.
This issue has been super frustrating and I'm not quite willing to purchase a new device just yet.
I'm not sure if it's permitted, but I'm quite happy to provide litecoin (ltc, bitcoins little sister) as a way to accommodate your time and show my appreciation..
Thankyou!

Did you follow ifixit (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Sony+Xperia+Z5C+Rear+camera+&+Earpiece+&+Front+camera+Replacement/53287) ?
Or did it someone replace it for you ?
Heya zach! Actually neither. Pulled apart an m4 that I have which suffers from the battery issues, to check on camera compatibility before deciding to open my device. You know what the problem was? A ****ing loose connection.
In saying that, I had some interesting success with removing references to hal and restoring a camera apk and data from an Android 6 install
